Venezia in Exeter

Was a beautiful experience, The owner lit a nice candle for me and my girlfriend. Food was amazing with stunning presentation. I feel it’s unfair to judge the atmosphere as it was a monday night and nobody was there but beautiful nevertheless. Will definitely be back.

I am a regular visitor/customer at Venezia, along with several other friends and assorted dogs. We have been coming here about twice a week regularly for some years. The reason we come here so often is because of the atmosphere which is created by the brilliant staff,, Kinga, Becky, Kelly and others are always welcoming, friendly and provide the fantastic service whether inside or out and to make matters even better, the dogs are always welcome too.. rain or shine, cold or warm all year around Venezia is a regular stop off after our walk around Riverside Valley Park, we would never go anywhere else because it’s like our second home on the QUAY with staff who have become our friends. This is a wonderful place for coffee or tea and the odd bite to eat and we feel at home here and appreciate being made so welcome by a marvellous team. Coming here every week is part parcel of our normal routine Thank you very much from Roger, Tony , Phil and Tony.

The breakfast was absolutely shocking, bacon was rock hard from being burnt (not over exaggerating), and eggs were covered I oil. My girlfriend ordered the carbonara it tasked like it was already meal.

We love Venezia, we always get the same order - steak, and tagliatelle carbonara (salmon). We love the atmosphere and the people that work here, would recommend to everyone!

Joined a group of friends at the Tapas Evening last night and what a great evening it was. Nice, traditional choice of tapas ( the full restaurant menu was also available). The selections were extremely tasty, thoughtfully presented so as to be shared easily and reasonably priced. This was accompanied by a musical duo creating the Spanish atmosphere. The owner was our host supported by a troop of waiting staff. It was fist class and will certainly be using Bar V in the future.

A perfect evening meal for my Birthday weekend! Delicious food, I had the lasagne and my husband had Pizza which he said was really good. We were served by a lovely man and the Tiramisu was to die for!! Highly recommend

Service was good, the food we had was satisfying. I felt comfortable in the cafe as the staff were very accommodating, we often go to this restaurant with family when we visit Exeter from Ruislip.

Came here for work Christmas lunch. To food was really good. Meatballs with king prawns in a tomato sauce to start which very tasty with traditional roast turkey for main. A colleague wasn't able to make it so we were given his sea bass with garlic potatoes which was fantastic. Staff we really lovely and accommodating.

We came here for a work do, and it was brilliant!! We reckon that Med is the best and funniest host in all of Exeter. The food was also fantastic - there are all sorts of options, including vegan and dairy free, which suits our group fantastically. We're going to be regulars from now on!

Came here for a work social and it was a superb experience. The food was only outshone by our amazing host Med who was accommodating, friendly and hilarious. He put up with our antics and made us feel so incredibly welcome. We will definitely be back. Hoping to catch one of their salsa nights!

Good location in Quay area of Exeter. Bright and airy with good views. Somewhat quiet for a Saturday lunchtime, but pizza choice very good, and excellent result. Pasta also tasty, if choice a little limited. Friendly staff, good service and very fair value

FROZEN CHEAP PIZZAS. Despite the Italian name and sign saying Italian pizza we were served four cheap frozen pizzas. The margeritas had no tomato base to speak of, the cheese was cheddar and usual bread type frozen base. The other with toppings also not fresh ingredients. I presume the reason they take payment in advance is because they're aware of the poor food they are serving. I reckon the swans and geese on the river ate better than us. On the Waterfront on the other side of the quay is the place to go for pizza.

Went here for Sunday breakfast. Whilst other places on the quays seemed quite busy this place was empty. Service was good but my eggs Benedict was really disappointing: hard times on my poached eggs and the tiniest smattering of hollandaise sauce. Wouldn't be my first recommendation.

Went here the other week for a coffee as staying nearby with work. Elderly couple outside smoking, swearing, burping as loud as they could then joined by a younger mid 30's couple with a baby in a push chair vaping covered in tattoos to join in the loud swearing and burping. Passed later in the week and same group of people there, maybe friends of the owner. Grim, avoid this place as there are loads of very nice cafe's, pubs etc very nearby.

Venezia is a small treasure in Exeter Quay. Themed nights are perfect opportunities to experience something new. Always happy to be there!

We had a larger group turn up and order food; the Server who was looking after us was fantastic! She was constantly checking if we needed anything, took our group picture etc. Best service I've received in recent times.

Fantastic experience! I just ordered a spaghetti bologonese as I wanted a quick dinner, stumbled here exploring the Quay. The food was excellent and tasted very fresh, and the staff were very welcoming and helpful. I even had some card issues - they were very patient and helpful to get it sorted. Highly recommend a stop!

Location great, decor ok, dusty and dirty in places, sricky tables and dirty glassware on table, waitress that served us was in a terrible mood with a stinking attitude, marginly OK food, service let's it down, massivly, the older chap was much more pleasant, hence 2 star and not 1.

Had such a lovely evening, service was great and the food was really good. I had the sea bass which was cooked to perfection and was absolutely delicious. Will definitely be going back. Thank you for such a lovely evening.

We only ordered the pizzas and they were delicious! Love the pizza base very light and fluffy. Service was great and quick and the view was lovey too. Right by the river with a great outdoor area. Nice to sit here in the summer!

Re: Wow! No body will be serious and angry for just 1.5pound, that is funny. We did order 3 scoops in one time, but should pay for 7.5? It was OK if your Mathematics is not good enough. That will pay for your education.But could you please tell me why the manager gives us a disdainful look and said “don't look at him, you must pay now”when I looked at my friend? And even the manager said that don't come next time? Are you so unreasonable to all your customers or just for us people? Or the Restaurant have the rule that not allow the customer to have eye contacts with each other? The worst service restaurant and the rudest person I have ever had. I bought 3 scoops ice cream in total, but they charged me wrongly, the price board was hind by a kitchen roll so I don’t know the correct price at first. When I raised my request, the manager was so rude to talk with me, and haven’t explained why, he insisted to ask me to pay the wrong price. And he asked us to never come back to his place. I have reason to doubt that the manager here is a racist.

We came to Exeter last weekend to see some friends and had an absolute pleasure having some food and drinks here. Medhat, the owner was very kind and efficient, and it was great to be served by him during the evening. All the staff were really nice and the atmosphere was great. Prices were reasonable and I would recommend coming here if you’re in Exeter. Worth trying the Shesha as well they have lots of different flavours and it was budget friendly for us.

Ordered a takeaway for the first time and it was awful. Quite shocked that they would be happy sending food like that out.

It's the worst cake ever. A tiny dry pice of cake and a late for £10!

Online they say they have a wheelchair accessible toilet. I contacted the venue in advance to double check that this information was correct, and was assured that it was. I asked where the accessible bathroom was on entering and was assured the bathroom was accessible even then. However the toilets are NOT wheelchair accessible. They are ordinary bathroom stalls with a grab rail. It is not possible to get a wheelchair into the cubical, to get a wheelchair to the sink, or to turn a chair around in the bathroom. Bare in mind I am in a manual chair, so a powerchair would have no chance. Providing incorrect access information is not really on I am afraid, especially when I made several efforts to double check. And being able to wee in a food and drinks venue is a must for anyone.

Didn’t even turn up. Rang to say he was outside so I went out for 10 mins and nothing and then my phone notifies me it’s been delivered. Shocking.

Nice place to stop off with family. Plenty of room outside. Family friendly bar.

We went for lunch as our usual spot was closed. The service wasn’t that great, lots of students chatting rather than looking busy. It was sticky and when the food arrived my husband’s burger was totally over cooked. My breakfast was mostly over cooked and my daughter’s pasta was chewy. Should have avoided

They don't know how to make garlic bread! The garlic was burnt and bitter and the base was dry so I sent it back, they brought the same piece of garlic bread back out but with some garlic oil on top, this did not resolve the issue. Pizza was ok, burger ok, lasagne was bland. Service was friendly

25 quid for a 8 ounce steak that's burnt and taste like charcoal a joke, especially with wet salad and soggy chips! Never again! Also the share platter was alot lesss than the pictures show. If I want o op houmous I'll go buy it and get more than the tiny pot you decanted your Co op houmous into. Overall, complete rip off not wothth the money at all. Never again.

In the top 5 starter and mains I have ever had and I have had a few. Easily the best Italian meal I have had. The Gambas Al Ajillo was amazing and the sauce was to die for which could be mopped up with a fresh crusty baked roll. The prawns were juicy and plentiful and great value. My main the seafood linguine was equally as good and I sampled my partner's steak which perfect. Her stilton sauce was 10/10 and was a generous portion. We were running late so phoned ahead and the staff were very accommodating which continued through our meal even though we were last out the door at closing. Do not trust the rating here as it 100% 5/5.

Myself had a Cezar salad wich was very well made My wife had a Bruschetta that looked amazing and my friends had some pizza and some meat balls. All good.

Fantastic food and great atmosphere, very nice staff, I would highly recommend, it's on Exeter Quay. There's plenty of parking nearby which is free after 6pm weekdays.

Was gaurlt busy but we managed to grab a table outside 😀 service was a wee bit slow, our drinks nearly came at the same time as our food. We ordered a spicey chicken burger 🍔 and a halloumi slouvaki wrap with chips. The food was delicious and piping hot. However, quite pricey, we felt for what it was, but then what isn't pricey nowadays 🤷‍♀️ Staff were really friendly and did do their best on a busy sunny day !We had takeaway ice cream afterwards 🍦which was amazing! Definitely recommend the white chocolate chip flavour 😋

Poor food quality, lack of enthusiasm in the servers, very plain meals, pasta presented with no garnishes or offers of cheese, slight taste of urine in the lemonade, unclean tables, incredibly low quality meat in the meatballs, waiter unable to offer condiments, cheese on pasta, or wipe table edge to edge

Falafel pitta was lovely and both my daughters enjoyed their fries, drinks and ice creams. I was over the moon that they do oatmilk lattes. Will definitely go back again

Unfortunately, the friendly service offered little consolation for the outright scam of a meal. £17 for a frozen 12” supermarket pizza base (with cheddar cheese!!), topped with the poorest quality packaged pork and tasteless olives. In fact, the whole thing was tasteless. Stodgy pap. Absolutely avoid this place - how it can exist in such a great location is beyond me. Should’ve known when it was literally empty apart from the local drunk on a Sunday evening. Literally the worst meal I’ve ever had in a restaurant in my entire life.

Nice place, have come here for some time now and today was by far the worst. To begin with, we waited over 15 minutes for our drinks which were very simplistic (i.e cappuccino and coke etc). The food arrived, the pizza was very nice however the chicken salad was very disappointing. It was presented nicely, however the menu stated ‘grilled chicken’ yet it was merely just packet chicken that you would put in a ‘rushed’ sandwich at £10.50 this was utterly shambolic. To add, halfway through drinking my iced latte i found that it was ‘lumpy’, this could’ve been due to many reasons but it felt like the waitress was full of total excuses. I took my drink up to waitress to get it changed and she provided the information that it was the coffee, i’m pretty certain we don’t get ‘white coffee grounds’ as she stated. She then refused to make me another iced latte and brought it back to my table to which she gave me complete attitude and portrayed me as stupid for thinking that the coffee had something wrong with it and it was just the ‘ice’, once again i didn’t think we got white ice cubes in the UK. It was clear the girl had no intention in providing a good service for the customers. As being an experienced barista I know exactly what an iced coffee is supposed to look/taste like. It’s a shame i’ve had to write this review as this could’ve been easily rectified.

Had a wonderful meal with a group of friends. We ate off the Christmas Menu and the ribeye steak was particularly good. Previously we have only eaten there of a lunchtime when out cycling and are always pleased with both the food and service. If you are fortunate enough to be served by the lovely Becky it only adds to the experience.

Excellent booking, service and good - 8 of us with different meals, all cooked fresh and enjoyed - seabass excellent. Very reasonably priced too.

No idea why this place has a 3.8* rating. The food was fantastic, especially the seafood linguine which was several levels better than that I had in the actual Venice. Service a little slow to begin with but they had just taken an order for a table of a dozen people so understandable. We'll definitely be back next time we're in Exeter.

Extremely disappointed with the food we received as we were looking forward to them. We asked for a vegan avocado on toast and was given a poached egg on top (which is not vegan). We also ordered two pizzas which were also a let down. They felt like very poor quality and felt like it was from the freezer.

went to celebrate my birthday a few days ago. The view was good if you sat by the window. we booked a table for us as a family of 4, it was too small and we moved to another table (two tables together). Waited for half an hour after we ordered our food, guess it was busy that day. Waiting for half an hour was not fun but the food was good. My kids loved the 16-inch pizza. However, my steak was so so (I will give it 2 stars) but the chips were good, i will give it 4 stars. A gentle reminder, if you ask the staff to take pictures for you, make sure you check the pictures after they were taken. Mine were all blurry, oh my birthday dinner pictures.... ( My fault after all)

Had a fabulous desert here several evenings ago. The food is always very good. On my visit there were very few people in the restaurant and therefore the atmosphere was rather subdued.

Went with friends. Ordered pizzas and garlic bread and calamari. Pizzas were bland too much bland cheese and no flavour Garlic bread was very dry and burnt. Should not have been cooked for the same length of time as the pizzas Complained at the end asked for a refund. Staff member argued with me that I should have complained sooner and then the staff member proceeded to dispute how I felt about the food and then blamed a trainee in the kitchen like that's somehow the issue and that I should just accept that. The radiator in the women's bathroom is a hazard, I have seen bikes with less rust. The music did not add to the atmosphere. Soft Jazz on repeat. Avoid there's a better pizza place at Topsham brewery and the Waterfront and zizzis

We went as a group of 10 for a family celebration. The staff were so accommodating to our requests (we weren't the easiest due to change of numbers etc). They stored our homemade cake in their fridge, laid the table gorgeous and we had a fantastic evening. The food was gorgeous, the staff were all amazing, helpful and friendly and we weren't rushed at all. They couldn't have done more for us and I'd just like to say thank you and we'll definitely be back.

We had all day breakfast which were very nice and good value. Service fairly quick. Only complaint is that they could do with some new crockery! Mugs had chips with one having a cracked handle, milk jug chipped too. When mentioned, we got an apology but no thought of replacement! The items belonged in the dustbin. Bit off putting for a return visit.
