Pizza Express in Exeter

Had an absolutely lovely meal here, visited during the lunch time rush and got sat super quickly. Food came out quickly and was all hot and fresh. Wendy served us and she was excellent at getting our food and drinks to us and checking everything was okay - lovely lady who made the lunch visit absolutely great! Will definitely be returning.

Wendy made us and everyone else feel very welcome. She worked her socks off after being left to work the restaurant floor solo. Food also great. Thanks!

Had a wonderful lunch today, didn’t book and was very busy on arrival so booked a table for a bit later and went into town for some shopping and a drink next door at the Ivy. Warmly Greeted by Wendy and received great service from her team throughout, they have clearly been well trained in customer service as well as being extremely personable. This comes as no surprise as we were regular customers of Pizza express Torquay (please re-open!) when Wendy was manager there and always received the same level of welcome and service as well as excellent food. The whole experience was a credit to Wendy and her team.Well done and thank you, look forward to seeing again soon.

Wendy was amazing I went in for a meal on Saturday evening with my two daughters and she was so friendly warm and welcoming we sat by the main entrance and her customer service was great also amongst the staff with her.

Great service, great food, I was however charged 75p for a sauce that I assumed was free.

Wendy & her team went out of their way to make us (party of 7, including young kids) to feel extremely welcome and to ensure all of our needs were met - including cuddling the baby for 30 mins, so we could eat our pizzas in peace!

Went to Pizza Express Cathedral Yard in Exeter today and had an amazing food and service, especially the manager Wendy :) Had the 'Nduja Calzone and biscoff cheesecake Dolcetti and it was fabulous, definitely coming back again.

Dreadful experience- over an hour and a half wait for very average pizzas that are not cheap! We repeatedly asked after our food and ended up going downstairs ourselves as the staff were not interested in expediting the order. Poor service, staff seemed ill equipped to deal with the issues. The restaurant was very quiet too so the delays were inexcusable. Other tables were abandoning their orders and leaving - we were stood with our coats on about to leave when the food finally arrived.

Had a lovely dinner experience! Our waiter Adam was so attentive and thoughtful, providing fast and helpful service. Manageress Wendy was extremely accommodating with our requests and provided us with menu recommendations. Food arrived quickly and was tasty and hot. Thank you for such a lovely meal.

We’ve been coming to Pizza Express in Exeter for almost three years, not really frequently, but often enough to get to know Wendy and her team. She and her team have always looked after us brilliantly, and helping us navigate the menu when we’ve had to avoid numerous non-top14 allergens as our son has many food allergies. It has never been too much trouble for Wendy and her team and we have always been made to feel welcome and not a problem unlike many other chain restaurants I could name. The food is great, the welcome is sincere and I wouldn’t hesitate recommending visiting if you have allergens, we’ve always had the utmost confidence. Thanks Wendy! Now the allergies are outgrown and the Epipen’s are no longer required I’m looking forward to introducing him to the rest of the menu!

My son and 11 of his friends booked in for his belated 16th birthday celebration last Saturday. It was the first time they were dining out as a group without adults. The waitress was so lovely and so accommodating with the group size, with them paying at the end and allowing a homemade cake as a surprise. Food as always top. Thank you so much for making it such a memorable experience for them!

Food, atmosphere and staff were amazing. They were clearly short staffed but the service was still great. Had a lovely chat with the manger who despite being really busy made time to talk to us. Would definitely recommend 😁

She obviously enjoys what she does and runs a tight ship there as al the staff were working very hard. Thank you for a lovely evening.

A great choice of pizzas and a good selection of drinks. I'd recommend the Calabrese accompanied by a Fuller's Organic Honey Dew Golden Ale.

Food was amazing, there pizza's where the best I've ever had. My pizza was amazing pulled brisket pepperoni and chicken, they let me sub out veg for 2 toppings free of charge, there crust was incredible and it was very filling, my gf said even the vegan cheese was great which is not easy to do. 10/10

A huge shoutout to Wendy and her team. Last night's meal was truly lovely. The staff were attentive and friendly, creating a relaxing dining atmosphere. The downstairs ambiance was just right, adding to the overall experience. 🍷 The wine selection was delightful, and the food, cooked to order, tasted incredibly fresh, we really enjoyed our evening. Went for an early dinner on a Monday evening. The place was pretty busy which is a good thing! The service wasn't that fast but we weren't in a rush and the waiter was super-friendly. I had a calzone which was OK - but have had more substantial pasties before... Others in the group had the doughnut sized pizzas with salad in the middle - they were a success. The margarita were very thin with a smear of topping. So in terms of the food itself there are better options out there at a more affordable price. But the venue and the staff are good.

Food was fantastic, lovely atmosphere. The waiters were not particularly attentive and the WiFi was appalling so it was very difficult to access the Pizza Express app to claim awards and pay for our meal. When we asked for help with this issue shoulders were shrugged and their only suggestion was to open the window and hold my phone out of it to try and get some 4g signal!!

Pizza was okay. Luckily student discount comes in handy getting 25% off the entire bill. Looks over the cathedral and grounds. Lots of stairs.

You can never ever go wrong with a Pizza Express, i have gone countless times and food comes so fast, piping hot and tastes absolutely divine. Garlic butter and dough balls are unbeatable. One of my favourite restaurants known to man. DEFINITELY recommend for any first timers debating on whether to try this restaurant 🍕

Really pleasant experience visiting this Pizza Express with a group of friends for a joint birthday party. The food was really tasty and cook to perfection, and the staff were really friendly I had the dough balls, American pizza and a glass of cider. Not adventurous I know sorry. My only criticism is that a glass cider seemed very expensive at £6.45

Great service! Was busy day during Christmas market and we were visiting from out of town. They managed to fit 5 of us in and toddler. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere, we were sat at table by window great for people watching. Food was delicious and staff could not be more helpful. Especially the hostess!

What a delicious pizza and pasta Really I love it But unfortunately you must be careful to order what exactly you want, if you first visit you must be careful and take your time don’t hurry as there a menu kids and you can loss or earn money here by your talking, just careful and try the pizza

I decided to eat here: i'd been before; there were lots of people who were pre-Christmas shopping. I was a little disappointed in that my intro, dough balls and starter all arrived together but, on the whole it was a good experience and the food was good and sated my appetite!

It's pizza express. You get pizza, albeit not that quickly. Very busy here some days other days quite quiet. I'd recommend booking. And remember it's just pizza.

Popped in here for lunch on a Tuesday afternoon. Nice and busy because of the festive season, but had such a lovely warm atmosphere complimented by the attentive staff who really looked after us! Food was made to the normal fabulous standard I have come to expect from pizza express. Particularly good if you are gluten free! Wendy made sure everything went nice and smooth - special shoutout to her!

Wendy the GM welcomed us warmly and ensured we could get a table despite not making a reservation. They were very busy, the atmosphere was happy and festive. We did have to wait a little while to place our order, but our waiter let us know that we would be served soon and apologised for the wait. We didn’t mind, we were offered water for the table and we relaxed and were in no rush. The food was tasty but I was slightly disappointed that the king prawn starter did not have whole king prawns, they were cut pieces and there weren’t many. My husband enjoyed the calamari. But on the whole the experience was good and the friendly service made it a positive experience.

The pizza was nice but just a little bit spicy than I like. I wasn't expecting BBQ sauce to be spicy. It was very busy which is expected this time of year. Quite noisy with large groups. But it was nice.

We just had another fantastic night at Pizza Express Exeter! Fantastic staff who looked after us, managed to fit in our booking during a super busy time! Food was excellent as always, service amazing and Wendy the lady in charge of running it all is a credit to the company! So very friendly and couldn’t do any more to make us feel looked after! 5***!

We enjoyed the food which was a little pricey considering the portion size; £16 something for a fairly small calzone. I've had better and twice the size for the same or less cost DELIVERED so I was surprised at the portion size when it arrived. It was nice, mind you and the staff were great. Will probably go again just might have a pizza instead of the calzone.

I do really like going to pizza express. It's always a bit nicer than I think it's going to be.

Food, a visual feast, had the ham, egg and chips. Proper hand cut ham, eggs with yellow yokes, coleslaw and salad. Super to look at, better to eat.

Limited menu, most of the Christmas menu and pesto unavailable!

We used to go here a lot. But the last two times I've attempted it the staff have been incredibly rude. One refused to have me sit as the "seagulls were causing problems & the chef was having a break" at lunch time. The 2nd time, I went to enter the building and a man simply barked at me "no open"

Well where do I start. Adam and Evie really looked after our table very well. I struggled choosing a meal but was helped by Adam. The meal was truly wonderful and we had very attentive service. In great hands. The best thing about the meal was the fact we were served by Adam and Evie. Pretty biblical! Anyways hope to be back soon!

I’m not a huge fan of pizza but the pizza here was the best I have EVER had! All the staff were absolutely wonderful! Especially our waiter! Not sure on his name but a real credit to the team! His attention to detail was superb! Will definitely be coming back here!

All I can say, I don’t think I will ever be eating at a pizza express ever again. Food takes as long as my Nan does in the shower.

Second visit to the superbly located restaurant in Exeter. The same experience as my previous visit, on arriving you don't get to choose your seat,despite tables being available, food sent to th wrong table so a long delay.and general confusion.

Had an enjoyable lunch here. Staff were friendly and welcoming and food was very good, particularly the Salad Nicoise and Classic pizza. The authentic base of the pizza was perfectly cooked and toppings were delicious. We often eat here when visiting Exeter and it never disappoints.

I’m going to have to make another review because me and my mum are obsessed with this place we visit here all the time and it’s the only place will eat at we are regulars and it’s amazing i really recommend this place if u have not tried the pizzas it’s so delicious and always love having a catch up with Wendy the best manager in town she is very welcoming she needs to be noticed as the best manager we have known her since the Torquay before it closed and we was sad to see that go but we miss the food so much we have to travel to Exeters branch because it’s so good i can’t go on how much we love it !

We had no reservation but they fitted us in and service was very efficiently in the time we had available. Food was excellent. A lovely setting overlooking Cathedral Green.

It’s a Pizza Express, but it’s got to be one of the best - if not the best - positioned pizza places in the UK. It’s smack bang in front of Exeter Cathedral, which is a stunning piece of architecture. Staff are all very friendly, and it’s about to have a major refurb. Lovely spot for lunch with kids in tow.

Our server, a man called Oscar, displayed the best customer service I’ve seen in the hospitality industry in a long time. He was attentive, kind and really astute. Food was great too, a top experience all around.

Initial member of staff serving us was efficient and friendly. Unfortunately he obviously went for a break and the next member of staff wasn't so gracious. One of our party was trying to gain attention to order coffees and they were met with an eye roll and then ignored while the staff member walked away.

Worst pizza express ever. Food was shoddy and overcooked. £16 for a few slices of aubergine that had dried out in a burned tomato sauce and nearly no cheese.

Ordered a delivery, 2 hours later no show. Exeter is the worst.

Oscar was very polite and helpful and recommended his favourite pizza which was delicious. He was extremely polite and respectful.

Wendy was very helpful and provided great service. The restaurants systems were down when we visited which made it very tricky and hectic for the staff. Wendy and her team were efficient and hard working. Providing us with great service, a lovely atmosphere in a clearly very busy restaurant. Plus Wendy made sure we arrived on time for a show we were going to see!

Reliable pizzas, lovely location

Booked for 2pm with my daughter's, unfortunately there was a problem do there was a note on the door saying cash only, not a problem with that these things happen. Sent to find a seat upstairs, first table we went to was surrounded by a herd of fruit flies! Moved to a second table and then we were informed that we couldn't use any of our offers from the app, ok again not their fault but surely you could have said we can give you a portion of dough balls free or anything to make up for not being able to use our offers off the app. Not very welcoming, didn't stay, looking a bit tired and sloppy, come on Pizza Express we know you can do better than this, too much competition in Exeter to be this complacent.

Excellent service from start to finish from Adam. Took great care of us and kept us laughing throughout. Amazing food from Fran and Sophie. Thanks for a amazing lunch guys! We'll defo be back.
