Vegas and Sons in Central Bedfordshire

Absolutely terrible chips - taste and look like they are 3 days old - as tough as old boots! Have been there a few times now thinking it would get better - but unfortunately not! I am not sure what sort of food the other people who have given good reviews are used to.......

Best fish & chips I have had in a long time, you know they are good when you see the customers queuing out of the door. Every Friday without fail I am having my food from this great place, and the staff are amazing too.

As a family we have been enjoying a Friday chippy tea for years and we wouldn’t go anywhere else. Having introduced my boyfriend recently to this business he also agrees that it’s one of the best! Hot, fresh and delicious. Generous portions too! A lovely place to get your yummy fish and chips. Girls are always so friendly too.

Moved to the area 3 years ago and have used a a few fish and chip shops, but this comes up on top of the others. Quick, cheap, friendly staff and great tasting food! Halloumi fritters are a winner!!!

We have used this fish and chip shop in Stotfold a number of times. The 'girls' there are lovely, hard working and efficient. So even if there is a que it doesnt take long to be served. We both had scampi this time but have to say a sneaky spam fritter for only £1 is a nice extra too. The fish is fresh and chips always plentiful.

As a veggie going to a fish and chip shop can be a bit dull but Vegas offers halloumi with sweet chilli sauce so it’s great. Just watch out though as sometimes the portion of chips given can be quite small for a regular

Had the best chips and good size cod... hot and crispy batter . Queue was outside the door but served very quickly..and plenty of fresh stock cooked so no disappointment

Have been here before and had delicious fish n chips....came here the other week and it was all re heated and tasted awful!!!! 😌

I popped in there last night after 6pm and the food was luke warm, the sausage in batter was just barely warm and very greasy and the chips were not much better. Certainly will not ever return.

This place never fails to deliver. The service is quick and the food is exceptional. We are regular customers. I think they shut on a Monday but do yourself a favour and go and try!!

Great little fish and chip shop. Family owned and run, for many generations. Always go back there, and by the looks of the queue so does all their other regulars!

We have bought fish n chips several times at this fish n chip shop and have always been pleased Hard to understand an earlier review as the picture posted of the chips looked very appetising and surely dry chips are preferably to soggy greasy ones . Staff there are very friendly and we shall certainly return to buy fish n chips again

Chips were very dry! As you can see from the picture a large is not what I would expect to mean a large! The veggie burger tasted absolutely disgusting! My sons beef burger was ok but in a stale roll. The only thing that has stopped this review becoming a 1 star rating is the large haddock, which was beautifully cooked. This is our third time of going and this was the best experience however we shall not be going back!

Dinner for the family was all freshly cooked chips , and fish tasted lovely would recommend to anyone local or visiting the area my family enjoyed it and will be coming back again and again

Very disappointed again with Vegas as last time I had chips from there they were reheated and again today. Not cheap so could at least make sure the chips are freshly cooked!!

Stopped off at Vegas the other night for fish and chips Quite simply the best ever fish and chips I have ever had Will definitely be back happy kids and staff are lovely and friendly

El viernes 20. 1. 17 que fuimos a Las Vegas para un bacalao con patatas fritas y era simplemente genial: patatas fritas eran sabrosos y el bateador fue justo (para mí); lo suficientemente crujientes sin ser exageradas. El bacalao en sí era sabrosa y estaba todo este muy rápidamente.

Siempre use Vega, todo el personal es siempre muy amable y el pescado y las patatas fritas son las mejores. Altamente recomendado

It's our local but I'm not biased - it is excellent! Always freshly cooked and lovely tasting food! Very friendly staff too - love this place :)

Best chip shop for miles friendly and great value. Beautiful chips not fatty and greasy obviously must change their oil frequently. 5*

my family have used this chippy for over 30 years and all ways found the fish quite good , the chips wereall ways a lucky dip,last year they were ok ,then the nicefryers went back to the EU . Now it has the son of the owners frying and the chipsare only70% edible ,the other 30% have no potato in thenthey are so thin. it looks like they now put the andthinnest & smallest part of spud in the fryer. I find that apoor show, and am trusting this to be a learning curve andnot greed to get more dosh out of the humble spud.I will try them once more and see if they improve , may bedad could give a lesson

Really great fish and chips freshly cooked and really tasty good value , well wrapped to bring home, really helpful staff and always nice fresh fish in a nice batter, it's always nice and hot and cooked

Don't know what is wrong with this place, sometimes the chips are excellent and other times they are over-cooked. Battered fish is generally very good all the time. As this is our local chip shop we have to travel to get better. Staff are very friendly and there is nearly always a queue on Friday and Saturday nights.

Depending on timing your meal can be fresh or seem reheated, Friday evening is best when footfall is highest, good location.

We are lucky enough to live around the corner from this fish and chip shop and we have had food from them on several occasions. The fish (we had cod) was beautifully cooked with a delicious, crispy batter. The chips were crisp and fresh. All-in-all, some of the best fish & chips I have ever had. I have always found their customer service to be very good. very friendly & polite. We would definitely recommend them and will be using them again...a massive queue outside on a Friday evening is indicative of the good quality food you can expect from Vegas & sons.

We were attending the stream fair and came across this little gem! The Haddock was flaky and the chips crispy but the curry sauce was a bit spicy for me. The shop is small, but clean and the staff are lovely and friendly.

Food dry and cooked to far in advance just sits keeping warm, had cod and chips chips greasy fish dry skin left on batter greasy sad and white pudding inside sorry could not recommend this shop looks good and Klein nice staff but need to do better got a chance Cooke to order problem solved.

Re cooked chips and spring roll. Disgusting never going back!!! Also argument with owner. Rubbish customer service.

What a lovely treat. Hot piping chips freshly seasoned with salt and the fish was cooked to perfection! The mushy peas were also beautiful and the staff are always lovely!

This is my favourite fish and chip shop.Not local to me, but a real treat when I am in the area, which is often and if I fancy a quick meal then this is my first choice.I love the haddock, crispy and tasty, my granddaughters love the cod and rock as wellTry it, I don't think you will be disappointed.

there are several fish and chip shops locally and this one is by far the best for localsthe chips are always fresh and the fish a decent size. now if you want something better and dont mind a drive the chip shop in Arlesey is the place to go

Without a doubt the best chip shop around. This place is a hidden gem in Stotfold and has been providing quality food for years. The fish is always fresh, the prices cheap and the portions large. You will not be disappointed. Friendly, family owned place. If you want a good cod or haddock go here now!
