My first visit here today, won't be the last. I had the halloumi on brioche bun with avocado, salsa, salad and delicious potato wedges, then huge slice of carrot cake, possibly the most moist I have ever tasted.

Love this cafe. Always a warm welcome from the staff. Scones are home baked and delicious as well as being a very ample size. Most cakes if not all are baked on the premises and they are all delicious. Very good value, definitely worth a visit.

Dropped in for breakfast this morning, the staff were very pleasant and the food was really good. We both went for the larger big English, I don’t eat egg or mushrooms so I swapped those for an extra bacon. When it came out, there were 5 slices of bacon! Our only dissatisfaction was the sausage, they should really consider buying from Robinson’s, Boxley’s, or the place in Compton spar I can’t remember the name of! All said though we enjoyed and the coffee was decent to boot.

My friend and I have been frequenting this coffee shop for the past year and have always found the staff very friendly and welcoming. The food is superb. Breakfasts are especially good. The service is excellent and always very quick to bring the food. My only small complaint is that although the large cakes by the till are covered, the cake pops and sometimes the scones are not covered at all. This puts us off ordering these as they are in such close proximity to the till and customers are breathing and coughing all over them. My reason for not giving them 5 star review. We cannot understand why these cakes are not covered the same as the rest. Very unhygienic. PLEASE cover them.

This is a little gem of a place. I can't praise the staff enough. From the moment we walked through the door we were greeted with a smile and a menu was instantly brought over to us. The choice is vast and I honestly didn't know what to pick. We ended up ordering the Full English Breakfast (served until 3pm) which was lovely. There were certain parts of the breakfast that didn't meet our expectations, (the sausage mainly) but the fact they asked if you wanted tinned tomatoes or fresh was a nice touch, so was being able to swap one thing for another. My husband doesn't like egg or mushrooms so swapped it for a hash brown, which isn't part of the breakfast originally. For me, overall, the staff and the atmosphere were great, but the breakfast was one piece of black pudding away from a "Full" English. I would recommend Vanilla Coffee!

Second visit to Vanilla with my friend who lives locally. First impressions is that it is nice and welcoming however this visit left me far from impressed. I am a coeliac and while it was great that they did GF bread - when it came to ordering my toastie I was told by the chef that they couldn't fit all the toppings on as the size of the bread is smaller - no big deal just put a smaller portion of the toppings on to fit the bread is what I thought. However the chef suggested I paid for an additional sandwich if I wanted all the toppings in the normal quantity - to which I said there was no need. However when the bill came to my surprise I was charged extra for two additional toppings where considering I didn't have the full quantity of any of the toppings one may have thought that they would have let that additional costs go as a gesture of goodwill especially as the chef had made a big deal about the size of the bread and quantity of toppings being less. We both ordered a glass of squash which was £1.50 each - surprising when it was just tap water and cordial - we could have bought a bottle of cordial for that much from the shop next door. The GF lemon drizzle cake is amazing and my friend had carrot cake and when she asked for cream on the side was charged 20p extra for a squirt of cream. I appreciate the amounts involved are minor but its the little things that leave a big impression. Will I visit again - well my friend noted that she felt the service and hospitality had changed from previous visits so I think we will now need to find a new place to visit.

It's been a while since I visited Vanilla but called in for lunch with a friend recently. We were impressed by the interesting and varied lunch menu including the 'specials' board. We each had something we really enjoyed - I had an open sandwich which was well presented and my friend had potato skins. We visited on a sunny day and the sun was streaming in, making the café seem really light and bright. Since my last visit there has been an extension added to the side of the main room with the option of sofa seating. The staff were very pleasant and helpful.

My wife and I are regular customers to this lovely cafe located in Tettenhall Wood. Lee the manager and his efficient staff are always friendly, the food is cooked to a high standard and thoughtfully presented. We like the fact that we can park easily nearby and, for those using public transport, there is a bus stop close at hand. The cafe has been tastefully furnished and decorated and, with soft music playing in the background, it’s no surprise that this is a popular meeting place. If you haven’t already done so, it’s worth checking out Cafe Vanilla - whether you are looking to sit down to a tasty full English breakfast or simply to chill out with a friend over a cake and a cappuccino. Visited Vanilla for mid-week breakfast with my wife, I chose full English and my wife had pancakes with maple syrup and smoked bacon. Both meals were freshly cooked so we had a little bit of a wait, but it was well worth it.Everything was as it should be, my wife was served with three thick pancakes which were coated with maple syrup and two thick slices of smoked back bacon on the top, she said it was delicious. My breakfast consisted of fried egg, sausage, bacon (2 rashers), baked beans, tomato and toast and again could not fault it. There was a bigger option with two of everything and black pudding but I found what I had was more than sufficient to set me up for the day.Staff were very pleasant and served drinks promptly. The cafe has recently been extended and now features bi-folding doors and a glazed roof which opens out onto a patio area. As it was already warming up with this glorious summer we are having, we chose to sit just inside in the shade with a nice cool breeze wafting through the doors. We shall be visiting again soon.

We would normally have stopped for another drink but felt it was definitely time to leave. Sadly I feel it is time to find another lunch venue

Business breakfast on the recommendation of a friend who lives around the corner, this is a quaint but generously sized old fashioned cafe oozing charm and customer service. The delicious coffee was brought first, only minutes after the order. Then came the most evenly toasted bread I have ever seen and then the full English: all served with friendly efficiency and without interfering with the conversation. The grilled tomato and fried mushrooms were perfect. The sausages, fried egg and bacon were superior: they tasted free range and were well worth taking their time over and savouring. The conversation was lengthy and so another coffee was required, again served quickly and equally delicious. This is a great place for family, business or a solitary diner. Easy going, comfortable but without ostentation. I will certainly be coming again. Very highly recommended.

Main seating area is a bit small, which is why I've marked VC as 4 out of 5, but there is an outdoor area to the side of the shop which I imagine will be popular during the warmer months. My wife and I have been to Vanilla 2 or 3 times in recent months.I have to say that it is in a lovely location and always seems to have a warm and friendly atmosphere. On our last visit (Saturday afternoon) we needed some food as we had both missed lunch, by the time we got to Vanilla it was about 15:50 and they stop serving food at 16:00. I needn't have worried the lady serving us (possibly the owner) was very friendly and told us to take our time with the looking at the menu.A few minutes later orders were placed and coffee arrived promptly. I have to say the coffee is very good. When the food was brought out to the table I have to say I was extremely impressed with how it looked and even more so how it tasted! I can definitely recommend the Chicken and Bacon Club sandwich, it is huge! Now if you've never been to Vanilla I have to warn you about their homemade cakes .... They are amaxing.I was so full from my club sarnie that I had no room for a piece of cake. This again was not an issue as I was told a piece of my favourite could be boxed up to take home!!! Jess made me a smoothie which wasn't on the menu as I have to agree, the coffee is not very good. Personally, I would have liked two shots of espresso in mine, but now I know for next time! Just got round to visiting here after hearing mixed things about it and I'm glad I've tried it for myself. The café is clean, nicely decorated with welcoming staff. As it was my first visit I wanted to study the menu and asked the waitress to give us a little bit longer, unfortunately I think they forgot us so it was another 20 mins before we called them over as we wanted to order before they stopped doing breakfast at 11. My sausage sandwich came with the brown sauce already on which was ok but I'd much rather put it on myself to my taste but there was a choice of breads and butter was optional. There was a good selection of specials on the board but the cake selection didn't look very inspiring on the day I visited. The coffee was fine but it was only available in one size which wasn't very big, I'd have ordered a large if it had been offered. One nice touch was that the plates were lovely and warm and we didn't have to wait very long for our order to come. Overall the friendly atmosphere and welcoming staff made it a very pleasant interlude & I'd love to go back and try their cakes when they have a better selection.

When I first walked in, the first thing I noticed was how well decorated the shop was. You can tell that behind the counter, it's well looked after and you can clearly tell the workers try their best to keep it presentable and clean. The workers were very friendly and they did their best to make me feel welcome. The food arrived in about or maybe less than 10 minutes and it was of a very high standard. I was very impressed, will definitely visit again.

Nicely decorated but not particularly spacious or comfortable I have been to Vanilla Coffee quite a few times, normally at the request of people I'm with. It's very pretty inside and the staff are nice. Their cakes always look amazing and im sure it's nice if you have a sweet tooth. Unfortunately I don't... This is one of the main problems. There isn't a lot offered in the way of 'normal food' I've found one sandwich that's particularly nice. Most of their 'meals' are small but the plate is then filled with lots of salad to make it look like the meal is bigger. I find its not very good value for money unless you are using a taste card in which you need to book in advance even if you get there and the cafe is empty, you have to ring up fist. My most recent experience there has put me off unfortunately. The sandwiches were a poor selection. The bread was stale and fillings were bland. The cakes were also stale and over all definitely not worth the money. I recommend anyone going to buy a taste card first as it's quite pricey. If you're not a huge lover of cake, it may not be the place for you.

Popped in for a bite to eat and some coffee and we were treated to sitting outside on a sunny day with waitress service. The service was great and the staff so pleasant and happy to serve you. I opted for the cheese and pickle baguette which was served with a really fresh salad and some homemade apple slaw. My wife chose the lemon mayo tuna served on lavash bread. So nice so good and definitely worth a visit. It's pleasant to go somewhere where the food is really good and the staff look after you. We will be back again!!

Whilst the service and food were both very good I feel a little duped. The cafe is listed on the taste card website. Having had a free trial for this through the post I thought that as the closest place to my home I would take advantage and go there for breakfast. When it came to paying I was informed that whilst they do take taste card that this was only available when you have made a phone booking first. With all due respect the cafe was empty and who phones to book a table to have a breakfast? Had I have known this I would not have gone there for breakfast as I feel that without that discount their prices were a little high for 2 breakfasts and 2 fruit smoothies.

Just had a delicious lunch! Varoed and extensive menu and specials board too. Attentive and prompt service. I ordered a peri peri chicken salad and my partner ordered a foccacia pizza. It was delicious and extremely good value for money. I also recommend the home made cup cakes which were delicious. Good range of teas too. Will definitely visit again as my partner is from the local area!!

If you want a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, delicious food and excellent value for money then this is where you need to be. I love Vanilla Coffee and keep coming back for more..........on this occasion, when I made the lunch date with two friends, this was the place they suggested. Loaded potato skins, with bacon and cheese and scrummy home made coleslaw, with carrot cake for afters. No Strawberry Shortcake Stacks left so I've attached a photo of the one I enjoyed last time........just for you to drool over.

My wife has visited vanilla coffee a few times and is always suggesting that we go. After returning from the Algarve to rainy England she took me there for lunch to cheer me up....it worked.A friendly welcome, a lovely cappuccino and a specials board to die for were a good start. As my huge club sandwich appeared the rain seemed to melt away outside and we enjoyed a pleasant hour or so with great food and drink. Was hoping to return for a breakfast the next day but circumstances were against me, hoping to go back in the near future, this place is a gem.

This was my experience today: a cheery welcome, a spotlessly clean place, inside and out (in the little courtyard attached), a lovely pot of tea and the best (and biggest) slice of carrot cake I've tasted in a long time. I'll be back, as soon as I possibly can. My only minor quibble is that the information on the blackboard needs to be more reader-friendly - maybe use two boards? And display the wi-fi password more prominently, perhaps on the inside of the door. But absolutely nothing wrong with the food, drink or service. Thanks, everyone - just the kind of place we need around here.

Firstly I can not understand the negative reviews, the place is great!I have been previously but only had a coffee and a cake, which was lovely. This time I treated myself and my mom to a nice late lunch. Both had paninis which came with a generous side salad tasted lovely and really reasonably priced. Service was great our server was attentive without being over baring, our drinks arrived quickly and our lunch not long after. All in all a lovely little cafe with great staff and prices that can not be beaten locally.

Great local cafe. I stop in here everything I am I the area (about 1-2 times a year). I always find the staff nice, the food fresh and hot, and the coffee certainly exceeds expectations when comparing to anything near by. We aren't in Portland Oregon Mr. Smith! I certainly understand the dissatisfaction if all that Mr. Smith is true - but seriously bet that it was either a bad day for Vanilla (it happens everywhere), or Mr. Smith is exaggerating.

Must admit, having made my Vanilla Coffee debut last month and been delighted, I was stunned to see the sour and patronising hatchet-job masquerading as a 'review', from Smith27263.It begins and ends with childish sneers about people who go there, as if Mr Angry is a sophisticated and cosmopolitan soul whose opinions are somehow superior.Admittedly, he seems very aware of coffee terminology. 'Purging the wand' was new to me, but instead of passing on his supposed knowledge and expertise to the staff, he implicitly eats his meal in silence, then decides to whine on here.On the day I visited with my friend - both well-travelled, as Smith clearly finds this relevant - as we were enojying our Americano coffee, and I guzzled away contentedly on my fresh and scrumptious carrot cake, 7/8 people came in, with very different orders, from the brickie buying hot sandwiches for his mates on the adjacent building site, to someone who just wanted a smoothie, and another who was in for a full breakfast. From the sounds and approving comments, they agreed with us, and the overwhelming majority of reviewers, that Vanilla Coffee deserves a very high rating for food, service and value.Making Mr Angry's comments even more puzzling ...Then I looked at his review history. In four years, he has posted on just three occasions, and all have been ultra-negative reviews with a single-star.In July 2011 - Smith hated his hotel. In May 2012 - a holiday attraction got the full treatment. In April 2015 - it was Vanilla Coffee in the firing line. It's sad that someone who styles themself as a foodie and a lover of art should pen purely negative thoughts. It's also puzzling that, from his review, he has enjoyed yummy cakes elsewhere in Tettenhall/Wolverhampton, but didn't choose to enlighten TA readers as to their whereabouts. So, did he genuinely eat elsewhere, or is this simply one of the series of cheap throwaway jibes which populate his review?A mystery for the TA community I guess, until Smith pops up with his next deluge of vitriol.

I am quite frankly stunned by the previous review, I regularly visit Vanilla and have alway found the coffee, cake and service spot on!I find it odd that the writer states that he/she is from London and yet has not posted one review of an establishment in their home city and yet has posted 11 in Wolverhampton, leaves me wondering if he/she is supporting another local cafe by attacking the opposition, especially when this person has such knowledge on the workings of a coffee machine! It is a great shame that Trip Advisor can be used in such a way to the detriment of a business when it is not deserved. What is wrong with a good old fashioned complaint face to face if your not happy and let the management try and appease the situation amicably.

It makes me sad to see we have people who are so easily pleased, that they give this dive 5 stars. The place looks shabby, years have passed without so much as a lick of paint. The coffee is atrocious. The kiddies that work their, mostly high school 6th formers care nothing for the quality or technique required to make a great coffee. The machine is dirty, I watched carefully in horror as on each occasion and as each kiddie had a crack at the coffee machine for one victim after another, the group handle (where you put the coffee) was sometimes not even fully emptied before the next grind leaving soggy spent granules for the next person, the steam want was never cleaned once, burnt brown caked on milk residue can be seen evident over what was once a stainless steel gleaming steam wand, unbelievable negligence. Worse, they never even purged the wand between uses, not once. I was shocked! This causes milk to be sucked back up the spout into the boiler where it turns putrid over only a matter of days. This was evident in the taste of the vile 'coffee' - I should stop calling it that. The end product looks as bubbly and poorly frothed as your worse Starbucks experience, the head was simply dreadful. Your meant to have super fine micro foam, thick and sweet and dense, skilled milk foam, with quality latte art, not a flat and dreadful bubble bath of dross. The food was simply awful, I had a tonne of salad leaves on what was meant to be an omelet, but turned out to be a burnt rubber matt. Safe to say it tasted terrible and got left. I held out hope for decent cake, nope. I tried what was supposed to be a walnut cake / coffee slice, it was a dry, stale tasting processed thing. Nothing like the fresh home baked and well preserved offering of other shops in the area.To top it off, the prices, for what amounts to a school home economics class gone wild, amounts to pure extortion, extortion of poor people who have voted this place only because and obviously they aren't very well traveled (to say the least).

I've been to Vanilla on several occasions, most recently for a family lunch. It's a really popular spot for a cuppa or something more substantial and it's easy to understand why. It's very much family-friendly and there's a mix of clientele. The menu is comprehensive and has something for everyone and the staff are friendly and service is great. It may sometimes seem to take for a little while for the food to arrive, but it's well worth it, as the delicious food is freshly prepared. It's also excellent value for money. My three-year-old niece devoured her 'Ritz Kids' meal, a thoughtfully designed plastic cake stand, comprising sandwiches, fruit, a few crisps and a cake pop. It's really nice to have a cafe like Vanilla in Tettenhall Wood and long may it last!
