Sweet, friendly little coffee shop in the middle of lovely Debenham, dog friendly and serves very good Coffee. Just wish they had some vegan offerings to have with my hot drink :)

We were driving through Debenham and were looking for a coffee and saw this little place. Friendly services and welcoming on entering. Ordered two take away coffees - very good quality coffee. Noticed it was dog friendly if you are out dog walking. Highly recommend this little gem.

Writing on half of my partner. He visited for first time after meaning to for some time and he was not happy. Staff unfriendly when he walked in and his drink was placed in take away cup with no choice of proper cup. He then asked if they were closing and was told in 15 mins. Surely that’s plenty of time to serve someone in a proper cup and allow them to drink. At very least a “do you mind takeaway as we are closing soon” would have been better. It was his first and last visit

Wanted to try this place for a while as had driven past a few times but won’t ever go back. Wasn’t greeted on arrival, they seemed put out I was there even though there was only 1 other customer in there. I was eventually asked what I would like. I said a cuppachino please & asked for a particular piece of bread pudding from the counter which seemed to annoy her as after I asked for it I was met with ‘you know they are all from the same bake’ I said yes but I don’t like crust. She then said the piece I had asked for had some crust. I said that’s fine. She then said she can get me another bit. Why such an issue just to get me the piece I asked for without discussion/attitude! Terrible customer service. I said don’t bother & left. Won’t be giving any of my money to a place that makes me feel so unwelcome

Excellent chocolate fridge cake. Possibly the best I've ever had. Took the cake and coffee and sat in the shade on the grass under a tree opposite. Perfect

Had read previous good reviews so thought we would give it a try. Loads of homemade cakes to choose from, sausage rolls & sandwiches made to order. Decided on chocolate & walnut cake & lemon drizzle to take away. Both good size pieces, really fresh & so very tasty. Small inside but made very welcome. Highly recommend

We popped into the Vanilla bakehouse for breakfast one morning. It was larger inside than I expected after reading previous reviews. I think there were 4 tables, and we sat in the corner with plenty of space. My two sons were welcomed, and there were books and colouring pencils available. Everything was freshly cooked and the staff were friendly. Their sandwiches sounded good too, but we already had lunch plans, so didn’t try them.

We stopped off in Debenham on our way home from a week's holiday in Suffolk. We decided to have tea/coffee and a cake at the Vanilla Bake House and were so impressed with the food and the service that we ordered sandwiches to take with us for the journey home (they were lovely, by the way). I knew my Suffolk Ploughman's was fresh because the lady serving us popped across the road to the butcher's to get the ham!I'd recommend both the village (very pretty) and this cafe. The cakes were excellent and the friendly service a bonus - even agreeing to let my daughter take a selfie with the staff! It is small, but with a little pleasant co-operation everyone managed to be seated comfortably. We will definitely be back next time we're in the county.

I often pop in for coffee and cake with my two small children. Always a lovely welcome. It’s small but perfectly formed. Great Paddy & Scott’s coffee and cakes, plus a bundle of childrens books to keep the little ones entertained whilst having their treat and so Mummy can finish her coffee! They also do sandwiches and offer a take away option too. Worth a visit.

A bit cramped very olde worldy. Lovely coffee menu looked very good with good prices. Bit cramped and very tight to get around the tables. Not many tables so would not recommend for those with mobility issues. Large selection of bread and cakes, staff very friendly.

This little gem has a vibrant, young, attentive and attractive crew looking after their customers needs. The variety and quality of products available belies the size of the establishment. There is a good range of local produce on offer and the cooked food is very well presented with whimsical names for the sandwiches etc. Always a warm welcome.........

We popped in here for coffee. It has a lovely feel to the inside of the café and they do make lovely cakes. We had to go into the kitchen to find someone to serve us which was not the best welcome. Once they appeared they were helpful. The cappuccino was in a nice big cup and was lovely and frothy. My husband's coffee was also good. Quite a small café with only a few tables inside and a couple outside. But quite cosy and right on the high street through this very pretty, historic village. Definitely worth a stop.

Had a standard breakfast fry up and tea, sausages were not particularly good and dry. Service took ages which was surprising as the two of us were the only customers they had to serve in that time and that it cost 75% more than other cafés. The staff were extremely unfriendly and aloof obviously not wanting to either cater for delivery drivers or having a particularly horrible day and decided to take their attitudes out at their customers expense. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

We were just passing through Debenham and were gasping for a cuppa so we saw this little place had parking outside so pulled up and grabbed some seats with a table outside and enjoyed a pot of tea and delicious cakes in the glorious sunshine! It seems they are a bakery as well so you know everything is fresh! Nice lady serving us too! They don't have toilets but directed us to the public ones which were very clean!

Stopped off here in Debenham on the off chance while we were on a Sunday drive out, as we were a long way from home. The whole villages was closed off due to the Queens 90th birthday street party lunch. So we stopped to soak up the atmosphere of this beautiful Suffolk village.Vanilla Bake House is an outstanding place to eat as we sat outside at the tables eating the most delicious home made eats and drinking the most refreshing pot of tea that I have tasted for a long time. Both the food and the staff were outstanding in every way. Even when it rained we were brought two brollies to keep us dry as we watched the entertainment as we ate such wonderful food. Thank you Vanilla Bake House Whole whole village of Debenham is stunning, everyone says "Hello" and even the public gents toilets have flowers in them... A credit to everyone who lives there.Thank you once again... from the guy under the Peppa Pig Brolly.

Whilst there are only a handful of tables it is well worth trying to get a place here. We dropped in on the Saturday after Easter and had a couple of delicious coffees (Paddy & Scott) and four breakfasts. Everything was freshly made, and local ingredients are sourced and were used on my "big breakfast" which is great to see.One of my kids had pancakes with bacon and maple syrup (I was very sceptical at first but thought over 250 million Americans cant be wrong) and she really enjoyed them. My son had a "builders bun" all ten years of him which he also really enjoyed. Will be going back again soon once I have walked this lot off!

Great sandwiches and homemade cakes and really friendly staff. There are only 3 or 4 tables in this cafe, however they do takeaway as well if you just need to grab a quick bite to eat and it's full. The only downside is they sometimes run out of bread...so better to get there early!

We were looking forward to a cup of coffee here, having had a picnic lunch beforehand, but oh deary me, I don't know who decided on the choice of coffee to be served but I do hope they are going to review it soon as it was really, really grim. More closely linked to diesel than coffee beans, we thought. Service was adequate if a bit perfunctory. We didn't eat so can't speak for the cakes etc on offer.

I think some more up-to-date photos would help. These pictures are from when The Angel was in the High St. They are now in the Civic Centre The breakfast is still as good as ever. The service and welcome are good and the food is still excellent Only one slight moan and that would be the price of a cup of coffee: £3.50 for a small cup is too expensive

We used to enjoy our outings to the Gladstone, but it has turned into a dirty, smelly and "clicky" place to eat or drink! Instead of being dog friendly it is more like a dog kennel - dogs annoy non-dog owners by licking them etc and sitting on the seating instead of under the tables. The seats and tables are dirty and the whole place is unhygienic - we will not return and will leave it to the arrogant dog owners who think everybody wants to be licked and dribbled on by their pets!
