Always good service, lovely food

Worst food I have ever eaten. I see people queuing out the door of this establishment all the time and they must be missing any discernment. Soggy, greasy batter, dry flaky fish and the chips were terrible. Avoid at all costs.

Really generous portions. I had the scampi which I enjoyed. The staff were friendly. It was very busy. I recommend ringing ahead with your order.

Visiting from a different area, and the gluten free cod, cheesy chips and spicy curry sauce was amazing! First place to known the batter wasn't greasy like most fish and chips are. However, this was delicious... the spicy curry sauce was amazing! - not often you come across gluten free curry sauce from a fish and chip shop. Plenty of cheese melted and covered over the chips. I went for a regular size and that was a perfect comfortable amount. Thank you! 🍟 🧀

Cod and chips with curry sauce was delicious. The fish was cooked perfectly and the chips were great. Portion size was generous and the cost was reasonable.

Val does a great fish and chips! The fish was fresh and the batter was crispy and golden. The chips were good and well seasoned. We had a big takeout order and everything was great.

Superb fish and chips. The regular portion size was more than enough for me and the cod was thick and cooked to perfection. Had to wait a while once I'd ordered because there was a queue but as it was all freshly cooked I didn't mind at all. Much better than some of the other chip shops in the area.

If you are around Par then having a Val's is highly recommended. As vegetarians their vegetarian burgers are really good.

Weave been here a couple of times now and every time the food has been outstanding, the service exemplary and on the whole the whole experience was absolutely amazing. We will be definitely coming here again and I'd recommend this place to everybody as a quality is exemplary.

We placed a large order so rang ahead of time and the order was perfectly executed! The staff were very friendly. The food was great and the portion sizes generous. It is so close to the beach that eating on the beach is totally do-able. Highly recommend!

Walk over from Par Holiday Village. Only 10 mins max using either cut through. Lovely fish,good size. Gets very busy but the service is fast

If you have no taste and like eating food that is blander than water this is the place for you. Nothing could have prepared me for the utter disappointment I felt after eating here. I narrowly avoided an existential crisis after eating the worst fish and chips in the history of the potato. Why can’t I give it no stars?

Absolutely shocking quality food. Very greasy fish cooked in old oil causing dark batter and chips. Would recommend driving to another one in the area.

Stopped here with our 3 boys and the food and atmosphere were amazing. Delicious freshly cooked food, good value and absolutely delightful and friendly staff.

There was quite a queue so we thought this was a good sign of good fish and chips. Unfortunately that wasn't the case. It seems that Cornwall don't do fish and chips very well. The batter was weird, it looked crispy but was quite soft and the chips were bland. The service was good, very friendly. But the food not so much.

Excellent fish and chips to have on the beach. Do a phone order if you can then wait on the left, otherwise join the short que on the right. We went for the Cod Fish and that was really nice.

Always a friendly team & excellent quality on the several occasions I've been. Batter has always been crispy & delicious. Also offers gluten free battered fish which is a great bonus as it's harder to find in local chippies. Good portion size, I always go for a small which I find has a good ratio of chips to fish.

Good fish and chips. I ordered haddock instead of cod but others prefers cod, both were very good. I wish they’d take down the Covid plastic screen by the counter, I couldn’t hear what they were saying . Someone came round to take our order which was very helpful. You can pay by card now which is great 😍

Fish was cooked to order but I received a very quick service. Very tasty meal and would hapilly stop by again. The kids loved the fish and chips. Thank you.

Popped it in lunchtime as was getting fed up of coop food. Ordered cheesy chips and within 5 minutes I was back in my car tucking in, was lovely plenty of cheese not too much salt will definitely be returning.

I won't be going there again, when the owner can't train someone to do the job when he decides to go on holiday, walked in the rain only to find they are closed.

Lovely Fish and Chips from Ian and the gang. Only thing it needs is a dine in area and shop is not in the best of locations as on a dangerous corner (WARNING WATCH ROAD, I stopped a tiny kid being bus squished after he ran into road a few weeks ago)

Well 4 1/2 stars really. Fish and chips fab as usual. Curry sauce extraordinarily thick and delicious BUT the battered sausage went in the bin. It was very odd, peculiar taste , inside it was shiny, plastic looking and pink. Not the quality I expect of Vals so I won't have it again

lovely gluten free cod and curry sauce, Im visiting the area and loved the curry sauce, unfortunately our local chip shops don't offer gluten free! Will visit again, I would recommend visiting if your visiting the area. My family enjoyed their late lunch,Fresh cod, friendly staff, Thank you 😊

My favorite chippy by far. Been going here since childhood and every time I come back to Cornwall to visit family I have to come and get some cod bites, chips and peas.

Don't mind waiting for nice fish and chips. To speed the process up the order was taken as we queued so it was just a case of paying and saying if we wanted salt and vinegar when we got to the door. There's enough to share between two.The photos show a small fish and chips. Within the order was a children's sausage and chips (that came with a drink), the amount was significant for a child's portion, if I would have known I'd have ordered the children's portion for myself. Parking is just before the building on the right hand side. Wheelchair accessible as it's ground floor. Telephone orders welcome too which are collected in a separate queue to the left (as you face the building). Faded spray painted instructions on the floor in front of the door. Check their website for opening times as it's not open all day.

Possibly the worst chip shop meal I have had had 4 x meals all 4 of us left virtually all chips seemed like been cooked twice and were hard the small cod looked a great size but was very little fish mainly all batter burger was OK and sausage but fish awful shocking 28 pound for all that very disappointed

Banging! It always makes a difference when the staff are happy and friendly. I'm an introvert and yet I was chatting away to them! Great fish and chips too, good portion size and fresh.

Staying in the area on holiday and called by for an easy last evening meal. Very happy. Easy, friendly ordering system. Chips were a highlight but happy with everything. Just hit a hole!!!

Had regular fish and chips on Friday lunchtime whilst on holiday. To sum it up, superb. Small wait which nobody minds for the food being freshly cooked. If only it was not four hours away from home!

I waited in queue outside shop and it didn't move for the ten minutes I was there . Myself and other people got fed up of waiting and left .

Very friendly staff. Our order was taken whilst we were waiting in the queue. Great idea! I had the regular chips and small cod which were very yummy and a great size. Even the small was a decent portion size that our youngest had. They all came in a box so they were great to eat out of on the beach! Just what we wanted on our holidays. The shandy bass was a blast from the past too! I would definitely recommend Val's Place 😁

Good honest local chippy. Small carpark just before or parking in the street. You can phone in orders or they take them outside. The have a strong COVID safe protection in place. One person in the shop at a time, take orders outside the shop. Call you in when ready. Screens are up. Can be busy.

Great fish and chip shop. We always go here when we are staying Fowey rather than pay ridiculously inflated prices for poor quality fish cooked and served by disinterested teenagers from the trendy chippy on Town Quay. Make the short drive to Val's Place and you will be rewarded with beautifully fresh, flaky fish that has been cooked perfectly. Proper chip shop chips too, and very reasonably priced. Very busy (a good sign) so be prepared to wait or telephone your order in advance.

Ordered both gluten free and normal fish and chips and it was all really good. Separate friers for GF means there's no risk of cross contamination. Bit of a long wait if you don't place an order by phone but ot shows how good and popular they are! Well recommended.

Busy on the day.( Fowey regatta day) food cooked to order so be prepared to wait for delicious meal.

Chips were all quite soggy, and about 10% were really overcooked. Fish was crumbly and dry and overcooked. Quite disappointed by it really.

One of the best fish and chips we’ve ever had! We were staying in nearby Fowey and made the short hop over to Par. Would recommend phoning your order ahead of time as was really busy (a great sign) and it helps you skip the queue

The best fish and chips I have had in ages

You can tell somewhere is good when they are queued around the corner for it. Great non-greasy batter, good quality fish and chips. Organised staff trying to get orders taken and completed as quickly as possible.

Horrible experience queuing up for what felt hours to actually get the food. The lady came outside to take orders, but those who pre-ordered obviously took priority so took even longer. However, the food was ok.

Really nice chip shop. Good size portions and fair price. Helpful staff and parking available.
