Vall de Cavall in Windsor and Maidenhead

After a busy day racing and fireworks at the racecourse, we wanted to relax with good food and wine, we came across this beautiful restaurant and were warmly greeted by the head waiter, didn’t get his name, but very friendly and accommodating.Got a great table and enjoyed fabulous tapas and a bottle of Rioja, left feeling very satisfied. Will return next time we are in the area.

We went for dinner to celebrate our anniversary. The tapas were such good for value for money and the service was impeccable. Staff are so friendly and charming. Will be back for sure.

Delicious food and drinks, lovely and friendly service, and nothing is too much trouble. No long wait times, even when they’re busy. We keep coming back because the food is just too good. Keep it up, guys! 👍🏻

I have nothing to complain about here, the food was excellent, we tried all possible tapas and the service was nice, pleasant, joking with us... this is how I imagine a proper waiter...😁👍I felt very good.

Too expensive . 2 tapas menu ( 3 pcs) which is the worst tapas ate in my life , 2 beer and 2 coke are £176.

My friend and I looked to book this venue for an evening meal. Once getting through on the phone were told not to worry about booking and just turn up. Being excited about visiting this venue, we both looked at the menu online and had a good idea of what we wanted to order. When we arrive, we were seated by a lovely security guard. However, upon receiving the menus, saw that the prices had close to doubled to the online menu. We appreciate that the cost of living crisis might have increased prices, but for the increase seen cannot justify this for a Wednesday evening or in line with the cost of living. Bitterly disappointed for a venue with such great promise

Would NOT recommend this place! My friends went here and had an awful experience which ended with the male bouncers physically throwing them out onto the floor outside leaving them covered in cuts and bruises! We have both tried to get in contact with the owner but a month later he still hasn’t emailed back (im guessing he doesn’t want it in writing) and one man who worked there I did speak to over email was SO rude! Definitely avoid especially girls!

Excellent service and delicious food

2nd time here, 1st time was great service and very tasty food. Today sadly not the same, had to ask for the menu after 20 mins wait the food was bland, also was told to tip in cash otherwise the staff won’t receive it. Disappointed and last time will have my money . Also completely empty atmosphere was none I guess this is because the food and service has clearly dropped.

A big thank you to Nuno and all the staff (and the waiter we are now trying to recruit for our choir having heard his rendition of Happy Birthday!) We had our Rock Choir Christmas party here last night and the food, service and ambience were perfect for this occasion. They even allowed us to sing some of our songs! 🤗

Lovely food, thought we wouldn't get enough to eat but tapas portions were just right. In fact, we ordered too much. I especially recommend the meat balls and the ribs in bbq sauce. Anything with bbq sauce. Whitebait delicious. I wasn't so keen on the sizzling chicken but we were so full by that time, I think it was just too much. Wonderful staff, very attentive.

A fantastic visit, after the Ascot Fireworks show of Nov 2023. The team were very busy but provided excellent service, especially Murillo. The bar staff were phenomenal, the waiting staff friendly and attentive. A true credit to Ascot The food is good but to be tasted, high expectations- I’m sure it will be a delight

Great tapes Great cocktails Great staff well worth a visit

I’ve given a 3 because the food was fantastic but the service was appalling. Received 3 extra dishes at separate times which were other peoples dishes, had plates cleared up by a non speaking waitress when we were just about to order more food. Drinks were slow on second round too. The noise was uncomfortable as lots of unsavoury clientele. Items we received extra charged for so the bill had to be redone then when I said we weren’t happy the waiter was quite off. A good Restuarant would ask why but he was quite dismissive. It’s a shame because I’ve been there a few times but it now has put me off

Nice food but service and atmosphere was a bit chaotic. Towards the end of the meal, the in keeping Spanish music was turned off and what must have been Queen’s greatest hits was turned on at a very loud volume. Felt the restaurant was also trying to be a bit of a bar as well.

1st visit. I ate the rib eye steak. It was outstanding. The service was already very good and the food arrived promptly. A+ Highly recommended 👌

Ooo laa laaa! Where do I start with this one. If you're looking for something stylish, something really tasty, then Vall de Cavall should be at the top of your list. With the most ultimate and vast list of vintage wines I've seen in a small restaurant, champagne for days and brilliant service from genuine happy people (big up Super Mario). Open late with live music at the weekends. I'll definitely be back. It's enjoyable and authentic, you forget where you are!

Great early dinner and drinks. We went for the tapas menu that didn’t disappoint. Sat out the front enjoying a summers evening. Recommended.

Impromptu stop, and the staff were very accommodating and friendly. The food was good, we shared various tapas; pimientos de padron, tortilla, gambas... all tasty.

Will not be returning! Pub style food at over inflated prices! Staff rude and ignorant. Messed up or order twice and lied about it. Then had the cheek to add there mistakes to our bill! No thanks I think I will stick to our usual restaurant at least they appreciate our business.

I was driving and therefore ordered a mock tail,when it came it had alcohol in it; I could taste it straight away so luckily sent it back. When my replacement drink turned up I was told “I got it to you quickly as it was for another table”!! Now let me talk about the food; our chicken dish was dry, the pork was 75% fat, the banoffee pie was not available so I ordered the cheeseboard which did come with plenty of cheese but only three crackers.

Fantastic place. Went for an early father day dinner with my daughters. Food was amazing, well presented, excellently cooked and tasted fab. The staff are also very attentive and everything is served with a smile. Great outdoors area to dine if the weather permits. Cocktails (pina colada - best around, and the mojito's are terrific). Only gripe would be the toilet set-up as a little cramped and confusing with females and men alike opening the wrong door lol. Great place and would thoroughly recommend. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with a warm welcome. Arbilio looked after us throughout our stay and gave an outstanding service. The food was delicious, we had a steak and fish main which was both cooked to perfection. I have to say their cheesecake is the most exquisite cheesecake we've ever tasted. The atmosphere and whole evening was brilliant, and the staff couldn't do enough for you. It was our first visit and definitely won't be the last.

We stubbled in here by chance and were pleasantly surprised. Definitely somewhere to site for the afternoon. The coffee is one of the best you will get….proper coffee. We are vegetarian and all the dishes were very fresh and tasty. We would have liked to see a few more vegetarian/vegan options but can’t moan! The pan con tomate deserves a special mention. The undercover outdoor seating is good for those of us that like the sunshine but burn and you can also bring your dog in this part. The service was exceptional and they were very attentive to the outside customers. We will be back.

Lovely food and service...loved it!

Do not go here. I am a recovering alcoholic of 10 years and my sobriety is everything to me. I have had to work so hard to stay sober. On a night out with friends I ordered a mock tail and the bar man put alcohol in it! I could tell from the first sip. When I complained they didn’t even apologise or care. The effects of this could have been disastrous and to not even care! Terrible place… it completely ruined my night and I have been full of stress and anxiety all day!

Excellent restaurant serving authentic Spanish food on Ascot High Street. Waiters are friendly and service is prompt. Their selection of tapas is excellent and great quality. I have taken my two children who are half Spanish three times and they love the food, the restaurant and the waiters

Fabulous tapas, great paella, real good choice if wine, house wine a superb Rioja. Took family, my 8 year old said the good was so good he thought he was dreaming! Not a bad description. Nice and easy parking. And don't forget to have churros to finish it off.

What a great find. Every aspect of our visit was excellent, including the service. But the stand out for us was the food. Keep it simple and do it well never fails in my book and this was lovely. We will be back and that is the best compliment I can pay.

Having lived here for 20 years I am happy to say that currently this is the best restaurant in Ascot. We have eaten here 5 or 6 times and we get takeaways from them too. Every tapas dish we have tried has been delicious, the octopus (pulpo) and lamb cutlets in particular. The paellas are all delicious The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. If you like spanish food, great atmosphere and good vibes you can’t go wrong with Vall de Cavall. Plus me and my girlfriend had our first date here! 3 years later and we’re still going strong, they must be doing something right ;)

Disappointed with recent visit here, staff not very friendly, questioning how much tapas ordered, food average for the £70 per head bill including wine, by 10 pm flashing lights and booming music as it becomes a night club, little atmosphere.

Nice enough place. Food nice solid tapas. Nothing special particularly for price. Being fair excellent service from some of staff, others very much less so. Felt at times under pressure to finish up as it turns into a bar with music. Some dishes very over priced e.g. Churross but wines definitely good price ranges and house white rioja very good price for quality.

A truly wonderful meal and great service. I highly recommend this restaurant.

My new favourite place to catch up with friends after work, amazing cocktails and service. Great atmosphere. Very well looked after start to finish, couldn’t have felt more welcome. This place is becoming a regular occurrence. Tried some of the amazing tapas dishes on offer today, will definitely be ordering food next time too. Has the feeling of a classy London cocktail bar, without the pain of trying to get into a big town. Highly recommend!

Spanish? Not even close. As a person that has lived in Spain for 17+ years this restaurant had no clue what Spanish cuisine was. The waiting staff were great and attentive but the food was a joke. Myself and my partner ordered an array of dishes and the best one was the mussels Mariniere which is not even a Spanish dish. The croquettes were probably the worst I’ve ever tried. After having complained about the lack of flavour of them (you can probably buy better frozen ones) a waiter offered us the cod croquettes. When they came back, we asked if they were traditional Spanish and they said: ‘no, they’re Portuguese’. Are we in a Spanish or a Portuguese restaurant? We sent them back immediately. The waiter very kindly offered us a bottle of Portuguese wine which was honestly the highlight of the meal in a ‘Spanish restaurant’. When asked about the concept of the restaurant, we were told that it is a Spanish restaurant but the owner is Portuguese so decided to add his ‘Portuguese influence to it’. When the bill arrived he had charged us for the complementary bottle of wine and justified that he had taken off service charge. We argued that he had offered us the wine on the house and when he came back with the bill he had then added service charge? What a joke. If you’re looking for Spanish cuisine, avoid this restaurant by all means. Overpriced confused cuisine that no one should have to experience. 4 tapas and a bottle of wine for £80? They have no concept on what a tapas evening should be.

A really fabulous Spanish/Portuguese Restaurant. If you can’t go on holiday this is the place to go for Paella and other Spanish dishes. Reasonably priced.

Best Tapas I ever had in UK and reasonable prices.

Excellent food. I had the meatballs which were made with top quality ingredients. House wine was good. Cost of meal for a party of three was good value. Attentive and discreet service. I have a hearing impairment and asked for a quiet table. Without asking her also said he would turn the background music down which was very considerate. Highly recommended.

A great place for a coffee (espresso and flat white both v good). My daughter loves the iced coffee. The tapas is very tasty and satisfying. The service is faultless. Overall a great lunch. I highly recommend thus tapas bar restaurant.

Tapas were ok though I did enjoy the prawns and chorizo. Paella was disappointing. Quite pricey. The only reason I gave 4 stars was because the staff were brilliant. Not sure if many people would share my sentiments as the place was busy for a Thursday evening.

this is my second visit and second review of Vall de Cavall. Never had any complaints about the food TBH. My first reveiw only had issues with the younger drinkers outside. On this occasion however is was quite differnet. The tables outside had been set so it looked and felt like a restaurant. Myself and wife popped in on a Tuesday evening (about 6.30pm) and it was quiet. We sat outside as the sun was shining and had a few drinks each and three tapas dishes. I must say the food was exceptional. Really well presneted, seasoned and delicious! We also had two glasses of wine and 2 beers and it came to £60 which included service - which I didnt think was too bad considering the quality. Service was good. Polite, attentive and friendly. Will be going back again mid-week as really enjoyed it. Have tried a lot of restaurants in Ascot and they are nowhere near the food standard here - especially on the High St.

Lovely Spanish food every time I come here

Lovely experience, nice cocktails and the tapas was good too. Excellent service, what I particularly liked was that the waiter asked us where we would like to sit instead of just dumping us on any table. We spent over 2 hours there and they didn’t rush us out.

Whilst we were 30 mins late arriving due to the South West trains delays we received a very warm welcome. After receiving an explanation from the manager as to why we were not able to have the brunch menu which we had booked for due to the train delays we were offered a free drink as a sorry and proceeded to order from the tapas menu. Excellent service was received throughout from the senior waitress including her photography skills! Fully recommend this excellent restaurant

Right on the high street, a lovely restaurant, sit in sit out your choice...and there's parking whilst you take time to savour the flavours.

It's a amazing spot for tapas. Friendly and efficient service. Great offer on foot and drinks.

I love the food here - and the service is great - but unfortunately there was a group of about 6/8 men who were sitting at the bar - shouting and swearing very loudly - this will definitely make me think twice before going back. I appreciate there were efforts made to try and keep them quieter but I felt there was some reluctance to be too forceful in case there might have been retribution. At one point there was nearly a fight between them. This needs to be addressed - when we left, a bit after 9 they were the only people left and I suspect if you continue to allow them in they will be your sole customers after a while.

Great Location, convenient Parking, really friendly and attentive staff and very nice & tasty fresh food. The ambience and decor was lovely, great wine selection. Will definitely be returning, couple and family friendly.

Great tapas. Staff incredibly attentive. Good vibe. The only negative was the table of young males who were seated by the bar who were swearing very loudly, whilst we were waiting to be seated.

It was a last minute decision to go as we had just had a great day at races and to save sitting in traffic we decided to have dinner, what a great choice it was too, Staff very friendly and helpful, food was amazing tapas & Mixed Paella (have a home in Menorca) very authentic and reasonably priced too. Loved it that much going back today for lunch with another selection of friends, give it a go you want be disappointed.

Food was beautiful from start to finish. Really good Spanish restaurant. Welcoming friendly staff and service with a good atmosphere. Cocktails and virgin cocktails made perfectly. Large selection of wines and well stocked bar. Definitely recommend.

Awesome food and experience of Spanish culture with an Ascot twist. Staff are plentiful but can cause some confusion as to what you order and when your plates arrive etc but will go back plenty of times. The red wine Hito is well prices and goes with everything!

We came here last minute on a Tuesday evening. The lady and gentleman there were fabulous. Very helpful, very kind to our daughters. Very knowledgeable. Food was fantastic. Great service. Would definitely come again if we were in the area. Highly recommend 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
