It is so sad that this friendly family run venue is closing on New Year's Eve.we have never had a bad meal there. Our best wishes to you all and thank you.

Friendly staff offering good service and nice food but the restaurant was cold and there were so many lights on that it felt like a canteen rather than the “warm, intimate venue” it is described as on the website. A lot of people were sat in their coats! Would be much better with the heating on (it’s December), the main ceiling lights turned off and some little tea lights on the tables. The carpet isn’t nice and the loos need upgrading. Would like to try again if there was a bit of a refurb.

Excellent food and service. Cannot fault the menu and clearly very popular. Recommend the garlic bread with cheese and Mama Mia pizza

First time visit, very impressed. The service was excellent, staff very pleasant and attentive, and the food was superb. Price was reasonable as well. Would definitely go again and would recommend.

The food is always a wow, and the owners are really nice people. The steak is amazing with lovely sauces and the deserts delicious. My daughter is vegetarian and always has a goos selection.

My birthday celebration last Thursday and as usual always one of the best meals every time we visit Va Bene. The service is excellent, the food is more than excellent and always a nice greeting from the staff and management. We will be booking another visit soon, would recommend to all.

Celebrated our daughters 30th birthday and the management and staff could not have been more helpful and obliging. Had a lovely table for ten in an alcove. Food was amazing. Piping hot and service excellent. The menu is varied and the pizzas are amazing. Could not have chosen a better venu. Highly recommended.

We have been visiting Va Bene for years as a couple, with family and with friends, it never disappoints. We arrived on the Saturday before valentines to find it nicely decorated with heart balloons. It was busy with a good atmosphere and we received a warm welcome as always even though it may be months between our visits. There is always plenty of choice on the menu and advice if you need help making your mind up. The service and food were great making for a very enjoyable evening.

Booked a meal for a Saturday night date night and was not disappointed. Possibly one of the best fillet steaks I have ever eaten cooked to perfection. Was given a steak knife but it would have not been necessary. Only disappointment was the deserts which were obviously bought in instead of being made fresh which was a shame. Will definitely be going back soon

Last Wednesday had another first class meal and we were all pleased with the excellent service. In fact we liked it so much we have booked for Wednesday next week !! Always a very warm welcome, a real pleasure to go to Va Bene.

First time we have been to Va Bene, we shared meatball starter, our friends had garlic mushrooms and bruschetta which were lovely. Main course I had steak with Gorgonzola sauce which was so tender and cooked to perfection. For dessert I had honeycomb cheesecake which was gorgeous. Will definitely return. Staff lovely.

Very pleased to return to Va Bene for a meal this evening, been too long. The meal was excellent with excellent service, would recommend to anyone wanting a quality evening out. Be back soon !!

We visited Va Bene for the first time last weekend and will definitely go again. We were made to feel welcome on arrival and shown to our table straight away. The staff were friendly and knowledgable about the menu and our food and drinks order were taken quickly. We had garlic bread to start which was honestly the best we’ve ever tasted. Food arrived quickly and was fresh, hot and tasted amazing. My husband had the seafood risotto which was loaded with fish compared to a few measly prawns that you get in most places. We were served by Emily who was smiley, efficient and clearly enjoys working there. Lovely atmosphere, fantastic place! Highly recommend.

On arrival it seemed as if we had been forgotten, the table for 8 was not laid out and we were put next to the open kitchen, this did ruin the experiences as it was noisy, meaning we were unable to comfortably talk, but as they started cooking flamed and sizzling food we left smelling of bbq smoke.The food was okay but having been told they could cater for gluten free, the waiter didn;t seem to know what was available.All in all a bit strange but do ask not to be put by the kitchen

Hadn’t visited Va Bene for a number of years and was not disappointed my memory served me well. Excellent service from beginning to end when I visited with family members last Wednesday. The owner (?) is extremely attentive and you can see he loves his restaurant and only wants the best for his customers and the young staff follow his example. The food was delicious, served piping hot and the portions were generous. Good value for money. Already planning my next visit.

We are visitors from Windsor and found this super Italian restaurant close to where we were staying. Great find wish we lived nearer as we would be regulars. We had a superb family meal to celebrate our 40th. wedding anniversary. Very friendly and helpful staff, great atmosphere and delicious food at a reasonable price. Good safety measures. Will look forward to visiting again.

We visit this restaurant a few times a year and hadn’t considered it as a takeaway option until we grew tired of Indian and fast food as a treat. Both service and food were absolutely perfect from ordering to the little pots of Parmesan. Ordering again this week!

Had the most delicious takeaway from Vabene HAGLEY tonight. Everything cooked perfectly. They did the king prawns Gamberoni vino Bianco while I waited so they were perfect when I got home. Penne Sole mio and Lasagne. Awesome. Please support these local restaurants during lockdown. We need them when things get better.

Ate here on the last day before Lockdown #2, as a consequence the restaurant was extremely busy. However this didn't affect the excellent service, our order was taken promptly and drinks arrived soon after. All the food was beautifully cooked, plentiful and delicious. 2 members of staff were not wearing their masks correctly (how many times do people need to be told it has to cover the nose to be of any use?) and this made me slightly uncomfortable. Our table was right opposite the open kitchen and I wouldn't want to sit there again as all of our clothes stank of Italian food by the time we left. Other than that excellent food at reasonable prices.

Visited Va Bene on Saturday for a birthday celebration. Once again a fabulous meal and fantastic service. You can’t beat this family run restaurant, a firm favourite with my family. Your garlic bread is the best! My fish goujons were delicious as was my chicken & the tiramisu is out of this world. Thank you & we’ll be back very soon x

We were bought a meal voucher for "Va Bene" by our son for our wedding anniversary. He had eaten here several times and recommended it.The food was excellent, especially the steaks with a good choice of accompanying sauces. The vegetables were very good too.The waitresses were attentive and friendly.In all, it was a really enjoyable meal out, despite the dining restrictions.

We managed to get a booking on the last Wednesday of the eat out to help out promotion last month. We booked in on the second sitting 830.The owners were very attentive and welcoming and made sure our night there went as well as could have been expected by asking us on lots of occasions if everything was ok etc.Our food was quality too which is probably why this restaurant is number one in the ratings at the moment.Also as with most other restaurants that we have visited since lockdown the social distancing between tables was excellent as were the other measures that were put in place.

My wife and I were stopping in nearby Stourbridge, and were looking for somewhere different to eat, rather than the usual Indian, fish and chips etc.We stumbled on this place online, and made our booking for a Friday night. What an absolute surprise, as the building was not what we thought when we saw it as it seemed to be squashed between a row of shops on a main road. When we entered, the staff were courteous, very pleasant and made us feel very welcome. we were shown to our table almost immediately.My wife ordered the garlic mushrooms, and I had the bruschetta. Both dishes arrived very quickly and were absolutely divine. Having had both before at other establishments, were concluded they were probably the best we had ever tasted.And so onto the mains....I had lasagne, which arrive piping hot, and my wife had pollo spinaci, which was in a garlic and white wine sauce. Again, it arrived nice, hot and well presented.Overall, a wonderful dining experience at a place that the outside does not do it justice, and at a very reasonable price.

I had the pasta & it was delicious. The staff were extremely attentive and friendly. Felt very safe with the adaptations applied to reduce the risk of Covid. The staff were constantly wiping down menu’s and the chairs with Antibacterial spray and I was asked on entry to use hand sanitizer which was available all around the restaurant. What an awesome evening!! The food was extremely beautiful, very flavoursome and very well presented but I can honestly say that our highlight was the friendly knowledgeable service from our waitress! An absolute pleasure was our experience at vabene and I will thoroughly recommend to anybody who would like to experience Italian food at its best especially With the table service 10/10!!

Before COVID lockdown & closure of restaurant, Va Bene was our regular evening out venue. Tonight was our first meal out since March. Food & service were excellent, as ever. Importantly, all COVID secure measures were in place with plenty of sanitiser stations & tables were carefully, & safely spaced. My wife, who was feeling anxious about going out, knew she would be safe at Va Bene & was quickly reassured once there. I can say we both felt as safe at Va Bene as at home

Me and my partner came on a Friday evening, it was busy but tables were very spread out and you felt not too close to anyone. We had mains, sides and dessert which were all very delicious! Staff were really helpful, was our first time eating at Ve Bene but we will definitely be eating their again. Thank you for a great evening.

I’ve been here twice since COVID-19 lockdown was lifted and both times the food has been excellent. The Fillet Diavola and Beef Stroganoff were amazing, couldn’t be done better. They are always really nice and friendly in here. I also noticed the tables spaced out more and the staff constantly sanitising. It made us all feel really safe. We couldn’t recommend this place enough.

Just visited Va Bene for the first time and what a great place. The staff are incredibly accommodating and the food was certainly up to scratch. Great starter and the Fillet Pepe was delicious. You can tell the staff have been spoken to about COVID measures and were sanitising all the time, making all the guests feel safe. Owners always available to talk to and keeping a close eye and will definitely return soon. One of the best places to visit in a COVID world

Visited here for the first time for our Golden Wedding celebration. The food was plentiful and wonderful, best I've had in a very long time. Steak cooked to perfection and lovely sauce. Nice atmosphere, busy but felt very covid safe. The staff were friendly and attentive but not overly so. Will definitely visit again. Highly recommend it

My husband and I visited Va Bene for dinner for the first time during the Eat Out to Help Out period and we really enjoyed our experience. The food was tasty, hot, plentiful and reasonably priced (even before the discount). The restaurant was busy but the tables were far enough apart for us to feel very safe. There are numerous hand cleaning stations around the restaurant and staff are constantly using them while serving. Dinner was done in two sittings so that everything can be cleaned between. We had an excellent experience, especially considering the current climate and will definitely be back.

The food was excellent. The Covid 19 system they have employed worked well. We felt safe.....We all had starters,mains but only I had a pudding, the others where full. Staff where helpful and kept the standard up in their cleaning of tables etc. Well done to them. It was also a eat out to help out venue.

We visited this restaurant to celebrate my birthday. We both love Italian food and visit Italy each year so we’re excited to try this local Italian restaurant. While we felt safe with all the COVID regulations in place and staff were accommodating, we were very disappointed with the meal we had. Starters were nice, however We both had pizza and it was extremely disappointing. We expected an authentic Italian pizza on freshly made dough. On arrival, the pizza looked delicious however as soon as I tasted it I could tell the dough wasn’t fresh. On closer inspection it was clear it was factory made, ready made, cooked dough base, possibly even frozen by the texture. I have had much nicer frozen pizza and would much prefer a £3.50 from a supermarket. The pizza actually tasted like a very cheap frozen pizza. The pizza dough was actually hard to even cut. Really disappointed with this. I wish I had read other reviews about the pizza before booking and sadly I won’t be visiting again. I love supporting local independent businesses however on this occasion I wish I had just visited a Pizza Express.

We haven’t been to this restaurant since the lockdown.visited on Saturday 6 of us.Very well organised one way system tables were spread out,lots of room between.Very clean restaurant well done .Now the food and service was excellent as always and lovely atmosphere love it here.Guys thank you.Definitely highly recommended.

The cheesy garlic bread & creamy pasta is delicious!The restaurant itself has a warming and welcoming atmosphere with all staff so polite. My friends and I had our early Christmas meal here and we couldn’t have picked a better place! The staff were fantastic and the food was to die for, even though the restaurant was fair busy the service was great. Lovely place!

we have been here lots of times and it has been very good. we went prior to xmas [ we had booked] we where sat to the right of the bar in a alcove.the noise from the overhead speakers was terrible.we complained to the waiter and asked for it to be turned down,the reply was its because its xmas. the music was NOT festive and it ruined the evening for all of us. not only us commented on the noise.

First time to this establishment, and whilst it wasn't what one could call bad, it wasn't top notch either. Having said that I think I may have chosen the wrong meal, Sea Bass Ravioli in a cream sauce, sounded lovely but I think the amount of what can only be described as double cream was exceptionally rich. This dish would have made an ideal starter, with just a couple or so of the Ravioli, and something "green" to give it a dash of colour. The overall ambiance of the place was "jovial" bordering on being rather noisy due in part to the whole place having carpeted floors not covering the whole establishment, making it as noisy and with little other soft furnishings, it can become rather like a works canteen.!!The service was outstanding with many young and energetic staff waiting on table, who appeared to be interested in their customers.All in all, not a place I would dismiss for a return visit, but perhaps a week day evening or a lunch time may well be less "jovial" and warrant a return, and sample something off the menu that does not include so much cream.

Had my daughter’s 16th celebration meal with family and friends at Va Bene. We hadn’t had a meal there for a number of years, but will ensure I visit again. It was a lovely meal, and the attention to detail was superb.

Well, mine was good. The service was excellent and the ambience is fine. As for the food, I ate simply, but have no complaints. I will go again.

This restaurant was busy because the Christmas lights were being switche on in Hagley. Service was prompt and friendly, with a good selection on the menu to choose from. Would definitely use this place again.

The food at Va Bene is honestly amazing. We go here probably twice a month and i can’t fault a meal at all.

We had booked a table for Monday night but it was really unnecessary as when we arrived the staff outnumbered the customers! The only downside to this is that you get served too quickly with no chance of a breather between courses. The waiting staff all look school age but are very polite and enthusiastic. The food was delicious and the wine was excellent. Three courses plus 1 G&T; and the excellent bottle of Fiano came to £76 for 2 of us. There was a cheaper set menu but it had very limited choices.

6 of us went out for a birthday meal early October and were not disappointed- overall the service and staff were good and the food was presented well and had excellent flavours. We had a combination of Italian and non Italian starters and mains and all were presented beautifully. One 2 let downs, we had to ask multiple times for jugs of water on the table and in the end my friend went up to the bar to collect the glasses, quickly followed by one of the team with a jug.... The other let down is the Ladies facilities- the restaurant, bar and sofa area are all of a high standard, but the bathrooms are a disaster and in serious need of refurb- looked like graffiti on the walls and in need of a clean-all of our party commented on it and we overheard others diners talking about them too. Won't stop us from returning .... we are back again in a couple of weeks with a party of 9.

Safe to say it’s now my all time favourite restaurant. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience, highly recommend to all.

Occasion was a family birthday and once again the food, service and atmosphere were excellent! A nice touch was a Birthday candle on my daughters dessert.

There were three family members meeting up after a long gap. The food we had was very tasty and hot. I was disappointed that I couldn't have a glass of Chardonnay. It's sold by the bottle only.

Food superb, staff very professional and polite. I had the filet steak in a arribiata sauce cooked at my request it was delicious. I cannot praise them enough. Being local to Hagley, we visit Va Bene often, probably a couple of times a month. Service has always been exceptional, staff are all great. Food moderately priced but exceptional quality and serves some of the best steaks I’ve had.

Lovely meal in nice surroundings, mains were tasty and a good size a little disappointed with the dessert portion size though. Service was OK considering the staff were mainly youngsters and things got a little busy whilst we were there.

My wife and I wanted a nice meal in a Restaurant rather than a pub. With Italian food the top of our preference we found Va Bene. The staff were very friendly and the food was excellent. It was nice to see a place with lots of people in on a Monday evening. The owner had a little chat with us telling us how he had been in the business for 28 years, it is evident how he has lasted. Will definitely recommend to friends and return ourselves.

We went with another couple who had visited previously, however it was my first visit to this relatively local and well established Italian restaurant.

We ate here last week. Not sure where all the people that have reviewed this restaurant normally eat Italian but this place definitely isn’t as good as people say. The garlic bread is like a margarita pizza and the pasta dishes ( we all had something different) taste the same. They must use the same tomato based sauce for everything. The service is good admittedly and prices reasonable but you get what you pay for.

Took 8 people to celebrate my 65th birthday, wow what a night everyone said how excellent the meal was not one fault could be found from starter to desert

Visited this Sunday 9 of us including 2 teenagers. Great food as always was very very busy but we didn’t felt rushed food came quite quick and everyone enjoyed it.

A group of us were pondering where to eat when one of us suggested Va Bene, not only for the amazing food but for the owners who run the establishment so well. They add a lovely warmth to the atmosphere by making you feel welcome, which with a combination of beautiful food, great staff and a great wine list was a wonderful culmination of what makes a perfect restaurant. We had a lovely experience and will definitely be back. We highly recommend this place to anyone who has an appreciation for exquisite food and a welcoming atmosphere.

Visited here before Christmas and was blown away with service, food and attention to detail. How things change in a matter of months.Arrived at booked time for table and welcoming was as warming as Mr O'Leary's check in at Ryanair. Shown to a table in the middle of where all the staff brushed by continually. Firstly no Campari or Pinot Grigio. I had the Bruschetta to start with. 4 slices of bread an inch thick with chopped tomato on and tasteless. £4.50! My main was the Risotto Gamberoni. 4 prawns and it was like slop as the rice was overcooked with no bite.Had to ask 3 time for a refill of my red wine glass which duly arrived only to be followed a minute later by another. Ordered some bread and 2 pieces of the same as used for Bruschetta costing £2.95. Disaster!

We dined here recently for a friends birthday. Initially we were placed on a table at the back of the restaurant, which was a little drafty with lower chairs. I think the manager could see our disappointed expressions, because instantly he came over & asked if he could place us at a better table. The staff were lovely & friendly.

This was our second visit to this fabulous restaurant. Delicious food once again, relaxing surroundings, friendly and efficient staff and a wonderful evening overall. Can’t wait to come back. Highly recommend a visit.

Well done Va Bene this is a lively little restaurant with great choices. The steaks are the best and so is the creamed spinach! We go back time and time again and are never disappointed. Staff are so good and attentive.

First time ever in small town and did not expect this quality and level of service. Top drawer. Thought it might be a bun fight this close to Christmas. All standards were very high.

Visited this Italian on a Saturday evening and booked for 8 pm we were made to wait until 8.30pm for our table, the food was average and we didn't finish our mains until 10pm, the service was very slow.

We had not visited Va Bene for a long time but decided to give it a try as they were offering a special deal from Monday to Wednesday - The special menu gave a good choice. We had a mushroom starter and a chicken main course both were delicious, we chose the house white wine which went well with our meal - the restaurant was clean and bright and the staff were courteous - good value for money for a Monday evening.

Picked here as it's down the road and also a change from Indian and Chinese. The food overall was very good and the restaurant nice and spacious. My only gripes were 2 things. The cheesy garlic bread was basically a pizza and the pizza main was ok but nothing special. The wife had garlic mushrooms, they were amazing and her main which was a pasta dish tasted delicious. I will go back but will not order my items again.
