Wow , we ate the chicken curry and rice at a private 60th birthday and it was absolutely amazing! So tender chicken ,the curry was really tasty and the rice cooked perfectly. We will definitely order from these .

Been a while since I’ve been to Vees Place , really needed some Caribbean food you know …and this is the best place . Always great food and great people working here , had macroni cheese , jerk etc ….Food was so goood 🔥 ❤️

First time trying Vees, not easy to find a good Caribbean takeaway in South Wales but thoroughly enjoyed it. Very pleasant staff, great portion sizes. Looking forward to seeing what else they have to offer!

I haven’t been here in person, but I did order it on just eat and it’s incredible! Their Jerk Chicken is so tender and juicy with the perfect amount of spice, their rice and peas balance everything so perfectly and are moist and their macaroni cheese is really yummy too although could use some onions, spice and mustard to make it perfect in my opinion. It got to mine in just over an hour, but it does state the delivery times when ordering online and it’s expected as it takes a long time for the meat to be perfect when cooking. Overall, I definitely recommend this place if you’re looking at getting an amazing homely comforting meal that’s good for your money too ❤️

Maybe they are racists but i think the young african lady just insulted me when i walker out from the restaurant.I ignored,because i have no time for this Kind of People but i'm shocked and for sure i won't come back as a customer.

It’s small but the food is soooo good. It was my very first time trying Caribbean food and it was great. The spice of the food is so flavourful and you can taste that food was cooked with love and passion. The place only has two tables and 8 seats but it is very cosy and heart warming. I will be coming back soon :)

This place is my fav place for food, food is outstanding, continue doing what your doing because your doing great beautiful food I’ve tried other places and by far this is the best Caribbean food in Newport wouldn’t go anywhere else

Ordered from Vee 3 or 4 times. Would be more, but we live 30 mins drive (each way!) away. All the good stuff, done well. We’ve tried: Jerk/Stew/Fry chicken Oxtail Curry goat Rice&Peas Hard food (yam etc) Steam veg Roti Festival Fritters (salt fish) Dumplings Punch All great, depth of flavour, authentic Want to try the escovitch fried fish. Lovely family run place, mostly take-away/delivery, but caff style tables and chairs for eat in. Allow a relaxed attitude to timing, Jamaica-style Looking forward to next time

Been here twice and both times been very happy!

Hours incorrect on Google maps (says 12.30 opening). Facebook says 1pm. Second time I tried to collect I ended up going through Just Eat, which said they opened at 1pm, but the order was rejected when i sent it through. No one answered the phone. I was spending the weekend with my son in Newport and so decided to try this restaurant. Was extremely disappointed with the food. The vegetable curry only had a few veg which were over cooked. The oxtail was inedible and the plantain was extremely greasy. A total waste of money. Would have given rating of zero stars if i could Will never eat from here again

I’m a regular and the service and food is top class,, sooooo much flavour. My favourite is the curry goat . Don’t be afraid of eating goat it’s like the best lamb curry you have ever eat. Try it with plantain which is just a type of fried sweet banana ( the equivalent of sweet mango sauce in the Indian restaurant). And ask for freshly fried dumplings or sweet dumplings ( do stress you want them freshly cooked as they are not the same if re heated) Xx Beverley and Andrew enjoy

Food was quite slow to be served as it's a small family run restaurant, but it was well worth the wait - tasted absolutely lovely! Highly recommended!

The best take away food in Wales of any ethnic origin. I have recommended all my close friends to visit from all over Britain. You can't help coming back. The quality of the food speaks for itself. Even if you have never tried West Indian cuisine before, you will enjoy anything you choose.

First try and EXACTLY what and how we wanted: oxtail, curry, fry, jerk, stew, plantain, festival, hard food, R&P, fritter. Sold out of roti unfortunately, but that's fine cos we are deffo coming back - it was all delish, but the oxtail and fry chicken especially on another level. Nice ginger kick on the punch too. Wish Vee's is closer (20 miles each way), would be a very regular thing Really sweet, family run, warm and friendly. As the other reviews say, banging food and service from lovely people. Quick polite service and good food.

I've had food from vee's a few times , I enjoyed the curry goat which came with rice n peas steamed vegetables and a side of coleslaw - all which is great . I've previously tried oxtail which I found to be nice . And the brown stew chicken this had to be my least favourite option, bit on the sweet side for me . I wouldnt personally have this again. Portions I found to be great. Delivery can take some time so best to order ahead on a weekend. Price is reasonable also . All food offered is halal which is great . Give them a try .

This food was out if this world. So much so I had to call the restaurant mid mouthful to compliment the chef. Would highly recommend. Will definitely be ordering again! Cannot recommend enough, I'll be dreaming of this food every night!

Had the curry goat and for the first time in ages had more meat than bones which is usual for this dish. The rice was nice and light and flavours to die for. 🤩🤩🤩🤩

Oxtail rice and peas and 2 festivals lawd! I was travelling down to Cardiff and wanted some soul food. A quick Google maps brought this place up, although the address is incorrect on maps. Ordered to take away and it felt like home. Bonus of having freshly made festivals. The portions were a good size too, I will be back! Oops no pics as it was so delicious!

Amazing food and service. Prices are are amazing especially compared to well known establishments like nandos prices. Definitely recommend and definitely will be going back.

I bought a Stew chicken rice and peas Dinner with dumplings. The Dumplings were made from scratch and were piping hot, however when I got home the dinner had no rice and peas just chicken and vegetables! Very annoying especially when I paid £10 and got half a meal. The price is quite steep compared to other Caribbean restaurants I’ve been to. Definitely room for improvement!
