Parc-Y-Prior Inn in Newport

Visited today with a friend who is a wheelchair user. No disabled spaces so had to push up the steep car park before navigating the pot holes at bottom of ramp. No-one who saw us struggling to open the double doors offered to help. We were then sat down by an older man with no pleasantries, just muttered "90 minutes with the table". He then returned a moment later to advise that he'd sat us at the wrong table and we'd need to move with no offer of help or apology. After ordering my food in the app, my friend ordered his and the app advised that the order couldn't be placed and no money would be taken. I went to the bar to pay for his. Moments after getting back to the table with our drinks, two more drinks arrived apparently from the 'failed' app order. In fairness, the lady who dealt with this was very helpful and advised the app order would be refunded in a few days. Food was decent with good portions. Both had burgers which were slightly overdone for our liking but tasty. Upon leaving, we said thank you to the older gentleman on the way out before struggling with the double doors again because no-one offered any help, again. Edit: Manager has since contacted me and dealt with this feedback well. Thank you.

This review is about the state of the gents toilets they are disgusting. One door without a lock on it (been like this for a quite a while) and the other toilet flush not working. 4.2 average reviews not for toilet hygiene-20 more like.

Our main course meal was really nice, however ordered the Biscoff cheesecake and sticky toffee cheesecake and the base and biscuit tasted awful.It tasted like a cheap shop brought one that had gone out of date very disappointing with it.

Lovely food, well, mine was. Great service, nothing to much trouble. Enjoyable evening with family & friends.

Took my visiting siblings and partners for a meal on a busy Friday evening. From bar staff to serving staff, everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. A lot of establishments either don't check on the service, or ask but don't even wait for an answer. Not here! Table service attended several times to ensure everything was in order, they cleared away plates and were timely at providing more refreshments. The other winning ingredient was the food. Six different meals ordered......all tasty and excellent value for money. Thanks!

We had a fantastic experience at Parc y Prior while celebrating my nan’s 84th birthday with a group of 18. The staff were incredibly attentive and welcoming, ensuring everything ran smoothly. The food was delicious, and all meals arrived together. The service was great and the atmosphere was lovely. Highly recommend for any special occasion or gathering!

When we arrived we were not advised that all ordering is done at the bar. The wait staff were not very communicative. The hunters chicken was good, but the mixed grill appeared to have been cooked in advance and reheated on the sizzle platter as the meats were tough and dry. The biscoff cheesecake was dry and tasteless, the worst cheesecake I have ever eaten. Clearly not made on the premises. The person who buys the desserts surely should taste them. I have been told the Sunday lunches are good, but we won't be returning.

Table of 15 from work catered for well. All food came out hot and at the same time. Staff were always available and Amy in particular was very helpful with drinks and getting us served quickly at the bar. Would recommend food here.

2 of us went for tea Monday 10th Feb 2024. Cannot fault any part of it, Amy, Toni, Sophie and Emma run the restaurant well. We had 2 mixed grills and every part of it was hot and yummy. Wait time we're non-exsistent and everyone was attentive

Amy, Lana and Kaz always go above and beyond to make sure we are looked after whenever we visit, whether it’s our monthly support group gatherings where we can relax have lots of laughs or a spur of the moment drop in for food. Nothing is ever too much trouble and the food is always very good. Special thanks to Lana as even on her day off she has sorted our favourite table and reccomends offers that are on and best wine to try.

Lana, Amy and Kaz were amazing with our group. We are a group who have all been touched by cancer and meet to support each other and socialise. We can be a little loud at times and the three girls make our nights so relaxed going above and beyond with their attentiveness and always smiling. Nothing is ever too much for them. Looking forward to our next month's meet. Thank you girls for all that you do for us xxx

I went to the parc y prior for a meal with my family, I was pleasantly greeted by Amy who gave a very nice service, and made a pleasant ice cream Sunday which I enjoyed very much, she had a smile on her face the entire service and was very very polite, will 100% eat here again.

I enjoyed a pleasant afternoon at the establishment. The staff provided excellent service; Lana and any were particularly outstanding and contributed significantly to a positive experience. I plan to return in the near future.

We go at least twice a month and find food stunning and service amazing especially Lana who always takes the time to check in on us even if she isn’t our server. staff are a credit to the company can’t thank them enough for the amazing service that they provide Visiting family always want to go there for food when visiting as well

It was lovely and relaxed. There were 3 of us and we got to sit in the comfy chairs under the tv. It was a girly catch up and as we were all driving we just had soft drinks. The staff were friendly, polite and we got served quickly.

Excellent visit on a Saturday evening after booking for a family birthday meal. The pub was extremely busy yet the staff were very attentive to everyone, including our party of 10. Food was quick to arrive, piping hot, delicious and plenty of it. Will definitely be back

By far my favourite pub for casual dining. Food consistently good, great value and beef rib one of the best things on menu. The atmosphere is always relaxed and friendly, perfect for a casual night out. You can tell its a happy team and Amy was awesome, bubbly and looked after us really well. We'll definitely be back!

Table was set and ready for our large family, staff very pleasant on arrival, food was served hot with warning about the skillets. Apart from 1 all foods were enjoyed the 1 was a steak but think it was nothing about cooking or presentation just a bad cut. A refund was offered and popped into the tip jar for the staff. We visit every Christmas Eve for lunch and can’t fault it for space, and value for money

Came here this evening for a family Christmas eve meal, booked a table weeks ago in advance for 5pm, arrived this evening for 4.50pm, to be told there was a wait until our table was available (which was fine as we were early) we bought drinks are were waiting at the bar. (5.10pm came, and asked the bar staff how long it would be, baring in mind there was 3 children waiting in the bar area with us and it was extremely busy and people were bumping into us, and was told we would have to wait for our table to become available. (Each table has 1hr 30mins to occupy, which your told when booking the table as its Christmas eve) so because it was extremely busy we waited outside in the smoking are. Time went by, kids were getting cold so we went back in and asked, but the table was finishing there meal. So went back out in the cold and waited, and waited. Eventually after waiting 35 mins in the cold, we were eventually seated, food order were rushed, the food, was nice and hot but then came desserts. My step son was still eating when staff asked if he was done because they needed the table for the next people (which he wasn't) and then came over each time to check he was done. In the end the next people who occupied the table stood over us waiting for the table, asking If we were finished pushing us off the table to get there family seated. We didn't even have the table for an hour, absolutely disgusted by the way we were treated. We come here so often for food and this will be the last time. Stop over booking and making people rush. No Christmas atmosphere what so ever all about money, money, money!!

Had and Xmas due/bday table was booked for 1230 some had starters at 12:50 the rest of us had to wait till 2 to have our main meal we had to leave at 2:15 as they was told we didn’t finished our dinners a lot left on plates as they was busy doin walking meals first by the looks of it and we took our dessert home first time goin there to don’t no wat to put abt food oat of it was left

Think this is a little gem , They have a fantastic beer garden, with kid friendly park to play on, and loads of room for them to run around, The staff are very friendly and helpful, and seem to do all they can to keep everyone fed and watered, The food so far has been excellent and I highly recommend the ribs as Iv had them several times and have never disappointed, The pub restaurant looks like it’s kept clean to a good standard,

I Booked for 10 people for the festive menu, and was contacted the week before, for our menu. I ended up having 11 people but this wasn't a problem as we were accommodated no problem. The table was laid lovely, with crackers and everyone said it looked really nice. The staff checked when we were ready, and the Food came out in the different courses when we wanted. It was all hot and tasted really good, the turkey imparticularly was so moist and fell apart. Not everyone pre-ordered a dessert, but the staff were very accommodating and could do some of the festive desserts. Lovely evening, thank you to all the staff. Merry Christmas

Our third consecutive year visiting this pub for an early festive meal Staff were welcoming on arrival and throughout the visit . Both food and atmosphere were exceptional.

My friend and I always come here for a catch up. Food has always been good. Staff are friendly & always welcoming, especially Sophie, who knows our favourite table and our meal order from memory.

It was alright, some of the staff seemed off but maybe it was just a busy night. Only real gripe was when my daughter's veggie sticks came out and had clearly been sat out most of the day and we're dry. I asked them to replace with fresh and they literally poured water over them and brought the same ones back? It's not much to ask for some fresh cucumber and carrot when it's on the menu, also just a bit rude to assume you won't notice.

Love this place. Food has been consistently good every time we've been, friendly staff and quick service.

Had a large family gathering here and were able and willing to accomodate for 22 people, service was excellent and food was delicious, all served quickly with no complaints or issues at all, pub has a great atmosphere and great for a family gathering, well done to the team I highly recommend this pub

Visited recently with 7 family members on a busy Saturday afternoon, seated within 5 mins of arriving. A decent selection of pub favourites and grill menu. The food was delicious, and the service was prompt. The atmosphere was buzzing but could still hold a conversation within our group quite easily. I must add that you don't get table service and must order at the bar and this may be the reason for little table interaction but service at the bar is good, while also being friendly and polite. Leave room for dessert. You'll be glad you did!

After being let down by a rival chain we decided to come visit here, as it is out of our way and I was already in a bad mood but I’m very glad we did. The staff were kind and the food was very lovely! The meat was juicy and not dry. We had a lovely evening and left with full tummies!

Flaming Grill in Newport offers a fantastic dining experience, elevated by Amy, an incredible server who truly goes above and beyond. She’s attentive, friendly, and has an excellent knowledge of the menu, ensuring you get exactly what you’re looking for. We have lunch which included gluten free allergy with was clearly asked for at the bar when ordering. Her warm personality and outstanding service make your visit even more enjoyable. The food is flavorful, the atmosphere relaxed, but it’s Amy’s exceptional service that really stands out. Highly recommended!

Our lunch club of 16 really enjoyed their meals and the staff were excellent , after ordering our meals they were served within minutes, couldn't believe how quick they came Definitely will go again. Thank you.

We ate there tonight. We had lovely food and the staff was so sweet with my daughter especially Amy. My daughter rarely eats and is mainly tube fed but she enjoyed trying some chicken sausage and some chips and even ate some ice cream. Amy went above and beyond making my daughter feel comfortable and she had the best time, even cried when we went to leave.. will definitely be returning soon.

Been going there awhile now food amazing staff phenomenal credit to the company plus they treat my mother like a queen couldn’t ask for better staff or better meals love going there owner amazing always takes the time to come and talk to us and check that everything is alright to be honest they treat a small family than anything Lana and Kylie doing an amazing job with service and keeping the tables clean and tidy wouldn’t change your thing and always look forward to the next meal. Anna and the team always go above and beyond. We were greeted with a smile and the service from Anna was nothing but the best. There is always a great atmosphere and the staff are always friendly, nothing is ever to much trouble.

Had the extra large mixed grill which was very good & served pretty quickly. Staff were quite friendly and was an enjoyable lunch. Unfortunately it was slightly spoilt when I saw the radiator in the toilets. Makes me wonder what the state of things may be in places not on public show.
