Excellent food, very large portions. There are several vegetarian options, we love their spicy sauce. Everything was on point. We hope to return soon!

We were initially suspicious of the mandatory service charge - did people not want to tip this place? But after seeing and tasting the food all my worries and fears were washed away in jollof rice. To start with, the place is stunning. I really like the interior decor. Also, the food was delicious. The service from the staff was topnotch and the restaurant was neat and tidy. Even though the food took longer than 30 minutes I didn't mind cause the taste proved to me that perfection takes time. Mind you, I only found this place online so I wasn't referred here by a friend. The place is cozy and intimate, with very low lighting. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Ordered the mixed grill, very disappointed. The food was cold and overcooked. The turkey wings were bland and dry, as was the meat, which was cold and chewy, it was so chewy that I couldn't swallow it. The only warm food was the rice , fries and plantain. In all fairness we informed the waiter and he said he would take it back and reheat it, we told him to just leave it but he bought out a bowl of meat, which had been microwaved. All the food seemed as if it had been reheated and not cooked fresh. The toilets were immaculate, never seen gents toilets this clean. However each cubicle had a large bowl of king size condoms, which I have never seen before, in a resttaurant🤷‍♂️

The food was delicious! First time at a Nigerian restaurant and definitely a fan. The Jollof was really good - highly recommended. Service was a bit hit and miss. After being shown to a table, we seemed to be pretty much ignored and had to flag someone down to get served after quite a long time waiting. Also there were a couple of drinks on our bill which weren't ours, which had to be corrected. Food was worth it though, so probably would still return.

Very nice friendly staff and delicious food, i had the goat meat with coconut rice, the meat was tender, failing off the bone, and very delicious and the rice was very tasty. We heard some people had given the 'hard chicken' bad reviews, the waiter explained this was a Nigerian breed of chicken which is chewier/tougher that we might be used to. I was not deterred and asked to try it. It was delicious, yes it's a little tougher than the standard chicken we are used to in the UK BUT i found it very tasty, smothered in a yummy red pepper sauce, the chicken is great but yes, only order it if you don't mind this slightly chewier meat. Portions are generous and i would definitely go back again!

I had a pleasant dining experience at this restaurant. The food was enjoyable, though I did find some dishes to be a bit pricey, especially when compared to other upscale establishments that offer a wider variety. The atmosphere was nice, creating a comfortable setting for a meal, and the service met my expectations. Overall, this restaurant is a solid choice if you’re looking for a more pricey dining experience with a limited menu and have the time to savor your meal.

I absolutely love their meals. I randomly ordered from them today and was surprised with more pieces of meat than I was expecting. I have been here with friends, I’ve also had meals here too myself. The ambience reminds me of somewhere on the Island in Lagos Nigeria. Meals constantly taste good, just the right amount of magic and everything to my tastebuds. And the lady who attended to us last time (I think she was Ghanaian) was such a delight. I would recommend them. They’ve always come to my rescue with great African meals.

If not for Ragba/Raga, I wouldn't have come back and returned his service was by far superior to other waiter; been there twice. Other waiter, no water offered, neglectful, no knowledge of basics, trying to overcharge or not offer what's on drink menu. Then, I got a proper waiter (Ragba/Raga). Anywho, kitchen food amazing 👏 and great service (with the right one). 3 🌟 only due to Ra/food.

Tasty African food, though expensive but very tasty. No parking space, however close to bus stop and taxi available on request or you can use Uber rides closer to all major hotels within Edinburgh. The only downside is charging of service charge; I find it outrageous, others may not find it that way. All African food are available, Jollof Rice, Asu meat ( blend of goat meat), Suya, friend fish, vegetables soup, white rice and stew, pepper soup is also available. Boller and fish is also available. Think Africa food, it's available. Drinks such as Africa Guiness, star beer, palm wines and Alomo bitters are all there. The owner is very friendly and customer friendly, unfortunately he was in Paris during my last visit. I guess they should revisit the issue of service charge, otherwise it's a perfect place to be.

We were really excited to go there. And it was really disappointing. The palm wine taste was off but still drinkable. The moi moi was ok but not really good. I had the beef egusi with a fufu. The beef was hard to chew and tasteless. The melon seed mix was terrible. Made me want to puke. I did not eat more than two bites as I still wanted to be sure of the taste. The fufu tasted like hair chemicals (not that I taste them but it tasted like the smell of chemicals). I was sick this morning. Pretty sure it was linked to this meal. I was not the only one in our group to be dissatisfied and we all took something different. The smoky flavour is not a barbecue style smoky effect so don’t get your hopes high. I will never go again. I totally forgot to take more pictures as I was disappointed.

Hugely overpriced restaurant. £10 for five slim yam fries with a tiny pot of sauce? Come the fxxx on!!! Our meat dishes were 50 percent gristle. We were overcharged incorrectly for our wine but only noticed after leaving and checking the receipt so didn't do anything about it. My dish was tiny but expensive and was had no vegetables with it, just a plate of gristly meat. My fellow diner's dish was massively expensive and very ordinary. Expensive food aside, the restaurant had a good atmosphere..love the Amapiano and Afrobeat music. The service was friendly and good, but when I asked to take away my left overs, the waiter put a takeaway box on the table and I had to scoop my food into it myself. I was then charged a £1 for the box. Really? Come on!! The 5% service charge included in the bill wasn't appreciated either. All in all a very disappointing experience. We won't return which is a shame because we love the whole African vibe, music and food. Won't return because the price is a massive piss-take. Ok so the food is probably imported but we live close to an African grocery shop and we know what these food items cost retail. We also love cooking African food and do a better job in our opinion. And we're British! Oh well..

I first visited Uwagboe’s in March and was immediately captivated by the authentic Nigerian cuisine and the warm hospitality of the owner. The experience was so remarkable that I decided to organize my graduation lunch there. It turned out to be a perfect decision. During my graduation lunch, everything was impeccable. The owner’s kindness and attentiveness made us feel exceptionally welcome, and the ambiance truly felt like I was back in Nigeria. Each dish was a delightful reminder of the rich and diverse flavors of Nigerian cuisine, and the drinks were perfectly crafted, complementing the meals beautifully. I was so impressed with my graduation celebration that I returned just a few days later. Once again, the experience was flawless, reaffirming Uwagboe’s as a go-to spot for anyone craving genuine Nigerian food. Uwagboe’s is a gem, offering an authentic taste of Nigeria with exceptional service. Highly recommended for both special occasions and casual dining.

Hubby was also still hungry after having his plate of food and had to request for extra which isn’t good enough for food costing close to £60. Portion is everything. If after dining, you aren’t satiated and still need more, then you need to do something about your portions. Ambience was lovely, darkish though. Clean toilets and pleasant customer service. Do not eat here if you have a gluten allergy, or any kind of allergy for that matter. The entire menu is marked as gluten free, however when I asked about the details of one dish I was thinking of having that had noodles in it, the waiter said "I don't know, I'm not in the kitchen." Not a great response, waiters should be trained in allergy info (I have been one myself). The waiter came back to show me a photo of the noodles, of which the first ingredient is wheat flour. I told him that wheat flour isn't gluten free, and that their menu was incorrectly labelled. I then spoke to the manager (I think?) who told me that these were new. I simply don't believe that. Nobody seemed to know what they were talking about, and we unfortunately had to leave. I know it can seem like an inconvenience when someone with allergies comes in, however when we ask questions we just want to know that we are safe to eat there. It is very dangerous not to know what is in your food, and even more so to claim everything is gluten free when it is not.

It started very well but ended up being one of the worst dining experiences we’ve had — The restaurant looked very cosy and clean, had a very nice playlist playing in the background and it was really quiet as my partner and I were the only customers. We shared the suya chicken wings which were delicious and a good starter. Unfortunately, our main dishes took 40+ minutes to arrive despite being « street food » and not actual main dishes. During the waiting time, the waiter did not give us any attention, we almost felt ignored and when the food arrived there were no apologies or reasons given for the delay despite being the only customers there at the time. My partner had the beef suya which was incredibly dry, the beef had the consistency of beef jerky and tasted like fried oil, and the rice was drier than any jollof he’s ever had. I had the South south Boli and Fish and it for sure went south 😅 The plantains tasted like they had been laying on my plate since the night before and I ended up puking half of the meal almost straight away (which I had never experienced before as I believe I have a very strong stomach and a large appetite). We both could not finish our plates despite the small portion size (which we were aware of). Our complaints fell on deaf ears and there was no gesture made to compensate for the terrible experience. We paid full price + the 5% service fee for a service which was honestly not provided at all. Overall extremely disappointed as this was our first restaurant experience in Edinburgh and we were really looking forward to eating some good Nigerian cuisine. It truly ruined the rest of our day as I had to go back to our accommodation to stay on the toilet all day. ☹️

There was a large screen playing music videos. There were about 4 or 5 staff around but despite this the service was very slow. My husband was going to order chicken party smoky jollof and was told to order beef or fish instead as the chicken is very tough! He ordered the beef which managed to be both fatty and dry. The jollof was pretty tasty, but nothing special. The fried plantain was soggy. I ordered spicy goat with jollof. I was warned about the spice, but when it arrived was disappointed by dry, and mildly spiced meat. We also ordered crispy yam which was not crispy and came with a very oily sauce. I ordered Biscoff cheesecake for dessert but was served a vanilla cheesecake with still frozen strawberries on top, which I sent back. We really enjoyed a meal out here! Totally different from other restaurants we go to and we had never tried Nigerian food before so loved having a new experience. It seems to be popular with Nigerians living in Edinburgh. We had no idea what anything on the menu was but our very helpful server (I think maybe the owner?) was a great help explaining it all to us. It all felt very authentic and the food was very tasty. I was worried it would be very spicy but it was just right- flavoursome and slightly spicy but not too much. I was also very grateful as a vegan that they have a large section of the menu devoted to plant based options. My husband said his goat was a little on the tough side but the chicken wings starter he enjoyed a lot. Our only other suggestion would be to have an explanation of what the dishes were on the menu but perhaps not necessary if most of the customers are Nigerian and they can always tell you if you don’t know. A taste of Nigeria away from Nigeria. Good food, easily accessed location, clean environment, good customer service, great taste of Nigeria delicacies and drinks. Nigerian DJ dishing out Nigerian songs and vibes.

The cooking is good, real Nigerian taste from the soups to rice, etc. There is option for takeaway. The atmosphere is calm and relaxing. There is enough space and tables for groups. The service is fast enough to meet the demands of a small number of customers at a time. I guess if they start having like 20-30 customers at a time, they will need hands. It was a good experience. My friends who went with me also had a good experience.

This was a terrible experience. For the prices, I expected a fine dining experience but it was the complete opposite. There was six of us and they directed us to a table of 4 in which they didn’t even put extra chairs and we had to arrange the table ourselves. It took an hour to get our food and even still some of it was forgotten or cold when it finally arrived. Service charge was added and mandatory despite the poor service. We had to pay extra for takeaway boxes even though the food came late. I am highly disappointed and will not be attending again. 0/10 do not recommend

The service was outrageous. The server paid no attention to us. I waited for my food for an hour and it came out cold. They made us pay upfront before we even got the food. They included the service charge as well and didn’t even explain how it’s calculated. And they made us pay for takeaway boxes

A group of six of us stumbled upon Uwagboe's when we couldn't get in to another local restaurant, and by the end of our meal we were absolutely delighted that the first place had been fully booked! We ordered two big sharing platters between us (hake, turkey wings, and beef), plus Nigerian beer and palm wine, and the food, service and atmosphere were all fantastic. We were well taken care of and given excellent suggestions for food and drink. Highly recommended and we will be back again soon to explore more of their menu.

El lugar es muy bonito y la atención es buena, pero la relación precio calidad del menú, más o menos. La carne de pavo y de pollo algo seca, la de cabra muy recocida.

Positives are friendly staff and reasonable service. I felt food was way overpriced, £25 for a main meal which consisted of a small chicken drumstick and small thigh and some rice, I have no idea how the chicken was cooked as you couldn’t get it off the bone, these prices are for fine dining not a drumstick and thigh, never had such tough meat, also brought coleslaw instead of plantain, nobody advised this wasn’t available despite being on the menu.

If you travel to Edinburgh and you're from West Africa. Kindly visit this restaurant and they offer one of the best Nigerian dishes. It was a nice experience with them. The Asun and Coconut Rice was on-point

The atmosphere was the best of any Africa restaurant I have been to in Scotland. The convenience room was neat. Palm wine was served with a coconut shell cup. Pepper soup was well enjoyed by us. We look forward to attending more often from Glasgow.

Delicious food fusing Spanish tapas with South African favourites and Scottish indulgence. Each dish is a decent size (2-3 per person will fill you up) and there are South African and Spanish wine and beers. Friendly servers in a cosy, warm space. Indaba is now our go-to place for taking guests out for dinner.

I went for dinner with a friend and was really looking forward to the meal (the reviews seemed great and so did the website and menu). We booked a slot for a la carte menu without realising that if we would like go for the “sharing experience” we should have booked a different time slot (perhaps if this could be better clarified in the website it would have been useful). We were immediately told that changing the slot was not possible as we didn’t have time. We felt rushed during our meal, and although we were finished our main courses within our 1h30 slot, we were not asked for desserts and we were just asked to finish our drinks in the hall because the table was booked for other people…so we felt rushed to pay…Unfortunately I didn’t enjoy the food as I hoped, as I was stressed with the time pressure…

Got the ckn wrap 5£ and ckn was strongly marinated, the saltiness really works well in the wrap. Other than that it's got lettuce and not much else, but the wrap itself was super crispy, excellent bite as well. Second visit: Dhan Halla, Bamia Bill Foron The lamb dish with tomato base was quite flat and very salty The veggie dish with cubed lamb was pretty good. Pita bread was ok A little pricey tho Third visit: Got the wrap again with feta, aubergine and ckn add on and only 1pound more The skin is rlly not well toasted, the ckn breast is quite dry but overall it's fine

The staff, food, and atmosphere were fantastic! I especially appreciated the delicious vegan options. Everything was top-notch, and I’ll definitely be coming back next time I’m in Edinburgh. Thank you for catering to different dietary needs!
