This was a terrible experience. For the prices, I expected a fine dining experience but it was the complete opposite. There was six of us and they directed us to a table of 4 in which they didn’t even put extra chairs and we had to arrange the table ourselves. It took an hour to get our food and even still some of it was forgotten or cold when it finally arrived. Service charge was added and mandatory despite the poor service. We had to pay extra for takeaway boxes even though the food came late. I am highly disappointed and will not be attending again. 0/10 do not recommend

The service was outrageous. The server paid no attention to us. I waited for my food for an hour and it came out cold. They made us pay upfront before we even got the food. They included the service charge as well and didn’t even explain how it’s calculated. And they made us pay for takeaway boxes

A group of six of us stumbled upon Uwagboe's when we couldn't get in to another local restaurant, and by the end of our meal we were absolutely delighted that the first place had been fully booked! We ordered two big sharing platters between us (hake, turkey wings, and beef), plus Nigerian beer and palm wine, and the food, service and atmosphere were all fantastic. We were well taken care of and given excellent suggestions for food and drink. Highly recommended and we will be back again soon to explore more of their menu.

Positives are friendly staff and reasonable service. I felt food was way overpriced, £25 for a main meal which consisted of a small chicken drumstick and small thigh and some rice, I have no idea how the chicken was cooked as you couldn’t get it off the bone, these prices are for fine dining not a drumstick and thigh, never had such tough meat, also brought coleslaw instead of plantain, nobody advised this wasn’t available despite being on the menu.

If you travel to Edinburgh and you're from West Africa. Kindly visit this restaurant and they offer one of the best Nigerian dishes. It was a nice experience with them. The Asun and Coconut Rice was on-point

The atmosphere was the best of any Africa restaurant I have been to in Scotland. The convenience room was neat. Palm wine was served with a coconut shell cup. Pepper soup was well enjoyed by us. We look forward to attending more often from Glasgow.

Must visit in Edinburgh. Delicious food. Huge portions. We got the sharing platter and would recommend it, little bit of everything. Jolloff was our highlight. Brilliant and helpful staff, wonderful atmosphere!

Had an amazing experience here. The food was just superb. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to try Nigerian food for the first time.

Beware, if you are not into incredibly spicy food. I usually have no problem with spices, for example with Indian food, but the food here is another level altogether. The seafood tasted quite nice, but the beef was way overcooked and thus very chewy. Most dishes are way overpriced. I don't think I'll come back.

The jollof tasted different each time we visited. Meat is really hit or miss

I visited Uwagboe's kitchen and Grill on my birthday. Although, I never told them that it was my birthday. It is the best African restaurants in Edingburgh. The ambiance is terrific. The food is tasty and filling. Staff members are well behaved, polite and professional. I will recommend this beautiful restaurant to friends and family. Please do not hesitate to visit this restaurant when you are in Edingburgh you will not regret it.

The coconut rice and Jollof rice issa banger!!!!! And the Snail, I enjoyed every bit, I didn’t want it to finish.

Thoroughly enjoyed the food here which was so full of flavour. The staff were also very friendly and happily gave us lots of advice on the menu as it was mostly new to us. Highly recommend the Egusi soup with beef. The goat that came with the Jollof rice was also fantastic. I will need to return!

I had always wanted to eat out at an African restaurant in Edinburgh and I was glad I did at Uwagboe’s kitchen. The food, customer service, ambiance, music and environment was and is very welcoming. Highly recommend for families, social & official events. The experience is memorable and worth it Great job

Heard about Nigerian Fanta so had to try it, it's very good. Lives up to the social media hype. I had the rice and goat meat. The food was good, homely. For anyone who wonders if it'll be too spicy it's not too hot and the spice flavour is more smokey than anything. I think what drags the place down a little is the decor and atmosphere. The chairs and tables give off a high end vibe but cutlery is pub style on the table - the anagram plates have an American grill style about them and the printed laminated menus feel very informal. None of this is bad but I feel like the tone is holding this place back from reaching its full potential. Even so the food was great, the staff were friendly and I wish them the best going forward!

Absolutely fantastic ambience atmosphere & exceptional tasty food

Unbelievably good food, was invited to the restaurant by a friend and was treated to a fantastic evening. The staff were welcoming and the service throughout the meal was second to none. The food was divine, I ordered the plant-based egusi with poundo, a side of plantain and a starter of moi moi. It was all brilliant, and as a first introduction to Nigerian food has me sold. Learning to eat with my hands was an experience, and something I really enjoyed doing. The meal arrived in good time and didn't last long once I had started. This restaurant has managed to place very highly in my recommendations of places to eat in Edinburgh and I'll endeavour to bring as many people here as I can. If you're in the city and fancy trying delicious food in a brilliant atmosphere, you'd have to look hard to find somewhere better than Uwagboe's.

So many options to choose from the menu, food was quality and absolutely tasty much better than those in Glasgow. Highly recommended 👌🏾 would travel to Edinburgh to eat here again.

Absolutely loved this place. Had the beef suya, white rice, and ofada sauce.. This was so amazing!! The staff was very friendly and the ambience made me very comfortable. 10/10!!

I came all the way from surrey england… Honestly this is just like home… the Abula was superb, loco and original. There is even free wifi while awaiting the food. Perfect😁😁😁😁

Añadir que dentro de los horarios de cocina de Edimburgo, este local tiene la cocina abierta hasta las doce (al menos los sábados) lo cual es bastante sorprendente aquí.

Great place!! The food was absolutely brilliant and all the staff were friendly and welcoming. We did not know what to order and asked the staff for recommendations. We were given an amazing selection of rices and meat plus amazing palm wine . I’m definitely going back!

We had the best time ever in the restaurant 😍 ❤️ the whole experience. My children had the Nigeriana Coca-Cola for the first time, they even took the Cork back to London to show there friends.

Excellent food and great service. Personally I'm not so keen on the low light ambiance that is the fashion with many restaurants these days, but don't let that dissuade you from visiting this one. A gem in Leith.

The food was nose blinding and it tasted beyond what word could express. I had to come for the famous seafood okra and pounded yam. I wasn’t disappointed!!!

So wonderful! I just found this place through an event they were catering after living across from their Gorgie grocery for years, and I am blown away by how fantastic the food is!!! The oxtail is particularly phenomenal. Cannot recommend this place highly enough. Thanks John!!

I must say that the food was excellent and to perfection with top notch service from Kome. The serene atmosphere with jazz music playing in a mild Friday afternoon ensured my family and I had the perfect outing and meal. It was worth every quid.

My friend ordered the jollof and suya for takeaway, very disappointed with the portions we received for £15?! I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves. The pictures of the food we got was £30 worth of jollof and suya?! Stingy portions very disappointing and will not be coming back

Fantastic food. Very tasty and well prepared. Reataurant looks great. Love the dark green colours and purple hue. Staff are great and attentive. Only issue is some of the food options can be made as individuals but are still charged the same price as when it is paired. Food tastes amazing but likely to lose potential buyers if you can't have the beef suya without the jollof rice for a lower price. Overall, will go again.

Chicken suya for starters was everything we hoped for. The boli was tender and well grilled. The main dish (sea food okra, coconut rice, abula, jollof rice and plantain) was on point. We also had the option of choosing between mocktail or cocktail. Uwagboe’s is a very good spot for socials!

I really enjoyed the whole experience at this Nigerian restaurant. The food, service and ambience was excellent. I would love to visit again. Highly recommended!

We tried to book a table for 7.30pm.but the booking system said earliest there was a table was 8pm. When we arrived at 8pm the restaurant was almost empty. There was a large screen playing music videos. There were about 4 or 5 staff around but despite this the service was very slow. My husband was going to order chicken party smoky jollof and was told to order beef or fish instead as the chicken is very tough! He ordered the beef which managed to be both fatty and dry. The jollof was pretty tasty, but nothing special. The fried plantain was soggy. I ordered spicy goat with jollof. I was warned about the spice, but when it arrived was disappointed by dry, and mildly spiced meat. We also ordered crispy yam which was not crispy and came with a very oily sauce. I ordered Biscoff cheesecake for dessert but was served a vanilla cheesecake with still frozen strawberries on top, which I sent back. Overall it was one of the worst meals we have had in a long time and we will not be back.

My first time in Edinburgh. I was so hungry and needed to eat an African delicacy. A friend took me there and I had one of the best meal ever, white rice and Ofada. Staff was amazing and welcoming. The environment is clean and got some beautiful aesthetics. Definitely would recommend.

Fantastic restaurant. Exceeded expectations. It’s the best African restaurant we’ve visited in the whole of the UK. We’ve been to a couple in London, Manchester and Glasgow and can say that Uwagboe is head and shoulders above the rest. Kudos guys. So proud of you.

Having flown all the way from Ghana to Edinburgh for holidays and craving African homemade food, locating this heavenly restaurant was simply a breathe of fresh air. The ambiance! The service! The FOOD!!! I was blown away 💃🏾 I ordered and ate so much and I don't regret it! A definite must try for EVERYONE!!! Kudos to the entire team (kitchen, waiters, etc) that makes it an experience ❤️

This was my first time in and the service was outstanding. Deborah and kome were so amazing , had a smile on their face all thru and very helpful so kudos to them. I had the peppered snail and plantain while my boyfriend had the edikang ikong and poundo yam which was delicious and freshly made. The atmosphere was giving 9ja vide thru and thru. This was a happy place for our first visit at Edinburgh. We loved loved it. I highly recommend here for that 9ja feel and delicious meal. Please do keep up the great work you have going on there.

All was so terrible , how hungry come in same hungry get out , was turkey wing totally dry and all food waste of money, from all only orange juice was ok . All so expensive . And portions even not portion. I didn’t like anything Do not suggest to eat anything there . It’s same like you threw one peace bread to seagulls and 100000 have to share it 😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃 not worth any money.
