Got the ckn wrap 5£ and ckn was strongly marinated, the saltiness really works well in the wrap. Other than that it's got lettuce and not much else, but the wrap itself was super crispy, excellent bite as well. Second visit: Dhan Halla, Bamia Bill Foron The lamb dish with tomato base was quite flat and very salty The veggie dish with cubed lamb was pretty good. Pita bread was ok A little pricey tho Third visit: Got the wrap again with feta, aubergine and ckn add on and only 1pound more The skin is rlly not well toasted, the ckn breast is quite dry but overall it's fine

When I studied abroad in Edinburgh, I came to Nile valley almost every week. You can get a flavorful wrap for a good price, and it's always delicious. It's always a reliable, good option for a quick lunch or dinner.

While the food served was undoubtedly Arabic, with popular dishes like falafel, the restaurant's branding and imagery suggested it specialized in African fare. This discrepancy led to customer dissatisfaction and a sense of being deceived.

Old reliable in terms of cheap tasty food in town, big fan of their wraps and well worth the price for how massive they are. Bit weird that they've got exactly the same pictures and prices on their menu as the africano wrap place next door. I've got no idea what's going on with that but their falafel is so good i dont even care.

Very tasty food served quickly. Queue for service was a little chaotic and crowded. Downstairs seating devoid of light and noisy but overall a great experience. Good value.

I recently visited this wrap shop in Edinburgh, drawn in by its impressive 4.8-star rating on Google, and hoping for a taste of African cuisine. However, my experience was a mix of positives and a few letdowns.The wraps here are definitely economical and wholesome, making it a great choice for a daily, healthy lunch. They pack in a variety of nutritious ingredients like feta cheese, chicken, falafel, veggies, and olives, offering a balanced meal that’s also cost-effective. The portions are generous, and the combination of ingredients makes for a hearty and filling wrap. However, I did find that the wraps weren’t quite warm enough, which impacted the overall flavor. The fillings, while fresh, felt a bit bland because they weren’t properly heated, which would have brought out the flavors better. If you’re expecting a lot of robust African spices and flavors, this might not be the place for you. I initially chose this spot because I was searching for African cuisine with a high rating on Google Maps, but it didn’t quite deliver on that front.That said, if you’re looking for a healthy, nutritious meal at a reasonable price, this place does the job well. Just don’t go in expecting the bold, vibrant flavors typical of African cuisine.

An absolute hidden gem! We all had 3 different dishes (Dhan Halla, Bamia Bill Foron, Dojaj Bill Tahini) and all were so different and flavourful. You have to order flat bread with them! The staff were extremely friendly and super attentive.

Fresh ingredients, really good service, great prices and portions! My first time trying the African wrap and I got so amazed by this tasty dish, super recommended place, one of my favorites now :)

Very delicious and definitetly wortth the price! Chucken wrap for no more than 5.50£ (can be spicy) I think and even better tasty falafel and feta wrap for only £5.50!! It is always busy there but their quick service will serve you fast. Im not only sure about their hygiene control there, thats why not full 5 stars.

This is the kinda place you wish you had in your neighborhood. Amazing, delicious wraps for a great price. It just doesn't get better. Shocked this place doesn't have a line out the door 24/7.

Everything perfect. From the treatment and friendliness to the food. Very good and great price. With a £5 wrap you're fine. Soft drinks at £1. It only has 3 tables at the entrance but if you go down the stairs there are many more.

Best wraps in Edinburgh!! I always get the chicken salad wrap and it’s one of my favourite lunch foods. Service is usually pretty fast and they have an upstairs and larger downstairs eating areas. The only thing is that the bathroom isn’t very nice so I’d skip that but go for the wraps.

Super delicious! Haven't eaten anything like it anywhere else! There was a lot of choice of wraps and it only took a few minutes to prepare. It was very juicy, deliciously seasoned and was great for lunch! Extraordinary taste!

A fresh and perfectly made wrap for only £5, so good! I got the falafel, avocado and humus and the ratio of ingredients was seriously perfect, so tasty.

In the midst of a cost of living crisis and rapid rising prices, this place remains a constant. It’s so refreshing to experience a place reliably cost efficient and consistently tasty. The wrap was £5.50 last year, and remains £5.50 today. It’s very large, and they do not go lightly on the fillings, including the chicken which I imagine costs more for them (and is incredibly well marinated). A wrap with chicken feta houmous and avocado and aubergine and sun dried tomatoes for less than £10 in this economy? Much needed, and forever grateful for this. Thank you to the staff here. You’ve made my day.

Grabbed a wrap at the Africano Wrap spot. Honestly, food-wise, best choice I made I'm Edinburgh. Incredibly delicious, great price, super friendly staff, quick service, healthy food. One of the best "fast" food spots I've ever been to.

Delicious falafel wrap! I used to come here regularly as a student and returned today with my two boys on a visit to Edinburgh and it didn’t disappoint. I was so pleased it has stood the test of time! Crunchy delicious falafel, wrapped in warm flatbread with crisp salad and tangy sauce. Best lunch in town - hands down! And such friendly service, so warm and inviting especially with the kids. Thank you!!

The food tasted good and there is lots of choice for everyone including vegetarian and vegan. I would suggest take out (most people seem to do this) since there is not a lot of atmosphere inside. If you have allergies watch out. We explicitly asked if there was sesame in a specific wrap and they said no but I had an allergy attack anyway! Therefore 1 star service…

Best place for cheap and filling lunch in Edinburgh. Prices have gone up but where hasn’t. Falafel, hummus and aubergine wrap is my favourite and it’s as good, if not better than the falafels I had in the Middle East (maybe Sudanese falafels are superior…). Service is not very friendly but it is quick and efficient. Mainly popular with students but I think this is one of the best food places in Edinburgh centre

Best lunch in Edinburgh, consistently amazing. Great value. Barry wrap is my go to. Saltiness from the feta adds to the crunch of the falafel, and the chicken is always full of flavour. 10/10 always. Don’t be put off by the queue they are incredibly fast at service.

Highly recommend for a quick and cheap lunch in Edinburgh. Wraps are fresh and delicious. Falafel and aubergine filling was our favourite! For just £5 it's an amazing deal. It's located next to Edinburgh University. If I were still a student I'm sure I'd be eating it every day!

I had a great time eating delicious food at this restaurant. The staff was committed to providing great service and were very friendly. The atmosphere was awesome, and I definitely enjoyed it. Most importantly, the food tasted great! I can't believe I went there twice within 3 hours. I am definitely going back there.I even forgot to take a picture of the food!!! :))

A well-known wee eatery in Potterrow, packed at lunch times but worths your wait as food is fresh and delicious! Lots of vegetarian options as well! Stuff is fast and friendly. The place is a bit dated though...

One of the best wraps I’ve had, very tasty and brilliant combos with flavours. We shared a Bary wrap and a Thuri best which were both delicious. Very reasonably priced for what you get too!

If you look at my review history, you can see I am a big fan of wraps. I come from a country where eating shawarma is a national past time. That being said, I have to advise people - do not come here. This place will ruin all other wraps in existence, because they make the absolute BEST wraps I've had in my life. The flavours combine to give you an incredible experience of taste, smell and texture. I strongly recommend the samar salad, spicy, with extra fuul and aubergine/olives. You get a taste of everything. For a £5/wrap pricetag, this place has fueled my dissertation thesis.

Excellent value for money! Only ever got their falafel, havent gotten anything else. Falafel isnt cooked to order, Im usually against this but they are a busy shop. Fries (no chips here) are made to order, crispy and not oily. Sometimes theres a queue, goes to show how many people want to come here. Would come again!

Yummmmm! So worth it! 1. Even though the sitting space is small, it has a super cozy vibe! 2. The flavours are just *chef’s kiss*! And for the price, a real steal 🤌 3. They have meat as well as vegan options! We got the bean and aubergine wraps which were both amazing and so so delicious! 4. Had a cup of latte on the side, which came out of the in-house espresso machine, and was great 🩵 Totally recommend grabbing a early dinner or lunch here! Happy Fooding 🍄

At 2pm, the staff subjected a customer to unprovoked racist bullying. I won't be going to this cafe anytime soon, and presumably many others are now feeling the same.

The best wrap in town. Nile Cafe and Africano Wrap, the shop right beside it are the two cheapest you can find in Edinburgh but also the best when it comes to the taste. The size of the wrap is very fulfilling.

Nile Valley wraps are the best wraps in Edinburgh, at such a good price too. I've been countless times, with seating available upstairs and downstairs, and a take-away option too. Really love this place!

The best wrap I've ever had. This is NOT a drill. Guys were friendly too - they mixed up my order but made a fresh one immediately, no trouble. Cheap - £4.95 for a wrap with avocado, chicken, roasted aubergine.. What's not to love?

My first experience ordering a falafel wrap with aubergine. All the ingredients are homemade and displayed in front of you when you order. The wrap was one of the best I've ever tried! And it's light food, easy to digest and for a few minutes walk you can sit at the Meadows (if weather permits) and enjoy this fantastic Sudanese food.

The food is fresh and handmade, and the wraps are out of control. Highly recommend if you want to eat on the way or a picnic in the park. I feel bad paying just 5£. The stuff is friendly and welcome. Thanks

Yummiest falafel I have had go for African original or chicken salad falafel and add aubergine and avocado.

The wraps are not bad and affordably-priced at 5 pounds each. Possibly the best place for wraps in Edinburgh. There’s usually a queue at mealtimes, so be there early if you want to avoid it. There’s more seating space downstairs too. I would recommend bary wrap and samar salad (also a wrap).

Used to come here a bunch when I worked nearby. Came back on a whim while passing through town today - still just as good, and the price has barely increased over years. Order the Africa Wrap. I assume the rest of the menu is also good, but why mess with perfection.

Good, not amazing, falafel-hummus-aubergine wrap, but for less than 5 pounds I would go back again. Spicy sauce has a nice amount of spice to it!

Delicious sauce with kofta meatballs. I think the level of salt could only have been achieved through an accidental double or treble dosing in the kitchen, however I still enjoyed the depth of flavours in the sauce. It may be the same recipe used in the past, but this tasted better than previously. Very nice.

The cues around the corner in university term time speak for themselves, this place is popping off. It serves wraps and rolls of a variety of descriptions. I'm vegan so I opted for the vegan falafel wrap and it was very tasty 😋 and best part was it was filling for value.

I mean who doesn't love the Nile Valley? Great sandwiches although can be super busy with students/tourists. Not the sexiest restaurant but always had lovely food so no complaints here.

In some cities it is hard to find affordable restaurants that are not in the fast food category. Edinburgh is not one of those cities, there are plenty of affordable places with good food. This is one of those places. Recommended.

I’ve been here countless times. There wraps are filling, tasty, and healthy, and the service is quick. I tried their main meals, and sadly the quality of those don’t live up to their wraps, but I’m giving them 5 stars regardless as I doubt anyone really orders the mains.
