Urban Social Coffee in Islington

Living in Angel and commuting from H&I station I usually love picking up a morning coffee from this place. Instead today I ordered the pastrami toastie for £9 and waiting for a decent time (assuming home made) for it. The meat was tough as old boots, rock hard and refused to tear, felt like I needed to have caveman incisors to get through that. I took out the rubbery, cheap bacon style meat, and tried to eat round it but gave up as then it was literally a grease sandwich. Pretty grim experience and disappointing given past orders, price of toastie and length of time waiting. Might be worth double checking the supplier.

My brunch experience was great! I had the truffle egg mushroom croissant and it was mouthwatering. Quite a big portion so a really good choice if you‘re hungry and in need of some proteins. Only minus was that the truffle flavour could have been stronger but it was overall so good that it was neglectable. The service was friendly and good but given that you order the food via QR code, the human aspect of the experience is a little lost. But I loved the atmosphere, a very cozy vibe, great for a Sunday brunch!

Matcha oat latte is from the heavens itself, I got two! The ambiance and vibes were exactly what you'd expect from the cover, indoor plants, mismatched furniture, a warm laid back cafe. Looking forward to going there often.

Very cozy place. Come here almost everyday for my daily dose of caffeine. The coffee and danishes are great. The staff are friendly even when it gets really busy, and the service is real fast.

It's a great place where we go for breakfast with our friends on weekends. They have a very delicious breakfast menu and coffee. You can have a nice breakfast experience with friendly staff. Everything was great, be sure to try it.

I have been here before and normally like this place, the coffee is great, but had such a horrible time here today... First the sound system started playing this incessant ringtone that went on for more than 10 minutes before they finally fixed it which drove me crazy. It took 4 people going to the staff to address the issue. Then an hour before closing the staff kept coming in and out of the back entrance at least 10 times without any consideration for closing the door behind them. Even as we started getting up ourselves to close the door he would still leave the door wide open and everyone around ended up moving places which is not pleasant.

I visited while passing by and my experience was awesome. I bought some of their house coffee for my home espresso set up and the lady behind the counter let me have my flat white on the house. It was a really good coffee too! Very good experience and I’d highly recommend.

Food is nice. Service is ok. Price is high. £9 for avocado on toast is expensive for what you get. Shakshuka is very tasty. Ordering is through a QR code but the biggest annoyance was a **mandatory** 12.5% service charge. I totally disagree with this and that’s unfortunately why we won’t be back.

Staff could be bit friendly with the job there doing , would be nice to get a smile when getting a coffee and being loyal customer but there coffee is very good

Small tables with people sitting very close to each other. Service very average. Food very overrated - on the vegetarian breakfast, the avocados, sausages and the mushrooms weren’t nice. Everything else was alright nothing to rave about. The menu was also misleading - eggs turned out to be one egg. It turns out to be a very overrated and not worth the money. My partner enjoyed his scrambled egg on croissant though.

Lovely cosy little place but the customer service is the real gem. I ordered an oat milk matcha latte but my drink came tasting different than I expected so I asked a member of staff who politely let me know that their matcha powder contains some cinnamon which explained it. He also offered to swap the drink with something else multiple times if I didn't like it which was very kind.

I recently discovered this cafe located in Islington. I had the Truffle Egg Mushroom Croissant, and it was absolutely delightful—hit the spot! The service was top-notch, and I was greeted with a warm smile :) The portions were quite filling. As a coffee enthusiast, I couldn't resist ordering a second cup, and it was just as fantastic as the first. I'll definitely be coming back for more. Highly recommended

I'm actually not a coffee person, but I came here to sit and read and get something to eat while waiting for my dog to be groomed down the road. While the food is quite pricey, I can't deny that the ham & cheese toastie was BEYOND delicious. And I am excited to try pretty much everything else on their menu. I was super pleased to discover there is a lot of seating at the back. And when I was there, it was blissfully quiet - which is exactly what I had hoped for, since I wanted to read. (And the front was quite noisy) This definitely seems to me like a great place to sit and write for a few hours - although, I did not check if there was wifi while I was there - I should have thought of that! Oh and the bathrooms were very nice and clean, which is always a huge plus.

Great coffee and the tastiest cinnamon roll I can remember eating. Need to stay long enough to try some Turkish eggs at some point, they sound amazing

The Avacodo toast was delicious. The red pepper spread was a great accent to the avocado and eggs. It was a great way to get the day, and my first trip to London started. Unfortunately - it also gave me a food born illness, likely norovirus, as none of those foods are likely to make you ill when cooked as they were. I started feeling ill within the hour, and spent the next 48 hours using them restroom and vomiting everything I tried to put in my body. I would give one star, but I got to blow up a toilet at Westminster Abbey and no one can take that away from me. So 10/10 do not recommend for bad hygiene standards.

Wonderful place for brunch. Servers are very friendly and helpful. Today I was helped by Lauren and Sarro. The inside scenery is lovely, and the food is delicious. The owner, though I did not catch his name, was kind enough to accommodate a pick-up order for me which they do not ordinarily do.

If you're looking for a genuine English breakfast like I was, then this is the place! I arrived in London yesterday and Urban Social was on my list when I googled "best brunch near me" at King's Cross station! You get a good portion, and you get exactly what you would expect and want from a Full English Breakfast in London. Service was excellent, everyone had a great big smile on! Very welcoming. Also, other Aussie-English style brunch plates are a must try! I couldn't stop looking at other guests' plates while I was having breakfast 🙃

Absolute gorgeous place for weekend brunch, I always go to this place every now and then and their brunch is second to none. Although I always prefer things with salmon, I noticed that they are always upgrading the menu also.

Dined in on a Saturday morning. The food is really delicious and lots of variation on the menu. Caters for halal, pescatarian and vegetarians. Ordered the truffle mushroom eggs croissant and breakfast burrito with bacon. Very substantial and the house guest coffee is delicious. Tip: the terminal doesn't accept Amex but if you order on the website from the tables QR code they accept Amex

Love! My friend and I came to have lunch and the staff were so helpful with her baby, going above and beyond to sort out the pram and made sure everything was kept dry from the torrential rain. And the toasties were 👌

We had such a lovely brunch here on the weekend, sitting outside in the sun. They were very busy but service was still great. Their menu is amazing, and you can essentially build your own brunch with all the options for sides.

Ordered some wraps to take over to the park for lunch. It’s made to order, so you might need to wait 10-15 minutes but worth it compared other options. everyone was impressed.

Just a hipster place with overpriced food and coffee. Portions were small too. The prices and service level could be reasoned if food tasted great, but again, it was okay too.

The cafe is very comfortable to hang out as a couple. I highly recommend you to try their cookies and cakes. They were delicious. Also staff are very friendly. Excellent drink options as well

Don't bother. I had high hopes for a lovely breakfast here given the google reviews. Wrong. I was shuffled about with the staff giving me conflicting instructions on how and where to order. I had an orange juice. When I returned to the counter to order my food the waiter (a different one) without even acknowledging me asked me to pay. I didn't even know who she was talking to. I explained, as did her colleague by now also at the counter, that I wanted to order some food. Oh... ok then.

A really nice breakfast location in Highbury & Islington area. There is seating at the back. The coffee is nice and strong. I had probably the best breakfast burrito a vegetarian can get. It has halloumi, hash browns, avocado, scrambled eggs. I highly recommend this place for breakfast if you are in the area.

It pains me to give 1 star as they deserve none… our baby boy (13 months) needed his nappy changing, despite the fact they were still open, and regardless of the fact I said I’d buy something/pay, the rude guy working there sent us on our way without any care for our well being because “he’d just mopped the floor!”. Never experienced such a rude guy. Awfully experience.

Interesting coffee and cake shop in the centre of Islington. Cakes were great, coffee was so so but my overriding memory of my visit was how really over warm the place was. The owner must have had money to burn on heating!

As a local in the area, this is not a place I will come back to sadly. Staff were friendly but coffee below average, scrambled eggs on toast, also sadly below average. Tasteless and pretty greasy. Also the fact that they ask for a tip on top of the 12.5% default service charge when ordering through their mobile ordering system I thought was pushing it a bit.

Good atmosphere, really good breakfast. You can also order and pay at the table, which is super nice.

Been here a few times and the coffee is always excellent and the staff very friendly . The first time I came I ordered a cinnamon swirl which looked delicious but was stale. I gave the benefit of the doubt and the second time i came for coffee I ordered a cupcake which was also stale. That was a few months ago and the last time I ordered any food from there but I keep coming back because the coffee is great. Today while I was queuing to order I overheard a customer send back their cake because it had mould in it. I don’t normally give negative reviews but since this seems to be a consistent problem and the pastries are pretty ecpensive I thought I’d write something here
