Uno Momento in County Durham

First visit and will definitely be back! The gentleman gave us a warm welcome and introduced us to our waitress. Quickly seated and drinks order taken. The staff were all young but so friendly, efficient and accommodating. One friend was GF and the waitress explained what GF options were was available which was quite extensive. Our starters arrived promptly, everyone was raving about the portion size and how delicious they were. The mains followed and were all amazing. We all had selected something different, pizza, pasta, chicken and steak. All ten friends were very impressed at how delicious and well presented the food was. The staff were very attentive throughout our visit ensuring we had drinks and always asking if we needed anything else. First class staff and first class food! Highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be back.

Visited last Friday 5th April on the afternoon. First time I’ve been in even though lived around Durham all my life. We were not disappointed, lovely food, nice staff and the youngish lad who I assumed was the manager was very personable. Would definitely go back

We got the last table, very busy on a Tuesday night. Rightly so, service was excellent. Food was hot, tasty and well presented.

Unbelievable value for money I go here with my wife and we are Working our way around their menu The Mussels starter has to be tried the amount you receive is unbelievable and the Allan crema sauce is just WOW, the Deep fried black pudding is also a lovely starter not massive but again is super nice The calzones are big so you may not finish it all but they do provide a takeaway box for any left overs

Lovely atmosphere, waitresses were very attentive but not pushy. Food was amazing! We came here for our Valentine dinner and we were not disappointed. Definitely recommend.

We were looking for a later dinner (8pm is late for Durham). Everywhere else was closing down but uno momento was hopping. We were seated immediately, served friendly but briskly, great lasagne. We engaged in conversation with a neighboring table. Excellent evening.

Absolutely wonderful place. The food was amazing and the service was impeccable . My friend and I were staying in Durham for a month for work and we went every night . The menu itself is beautiful with so many options to choose from. The food was perfect every single time regardless of what we ordered with very generous portions at amazing prices. The spaghetti bolognaise was my favourite it was amazing. Special thanks to Jake who honestly couldn’t do more for us. Cannot wait to visit again soon. I highly recommend.

Lovely food, ate almost all of it which is unusual. Had tagliatelle with salmon. Staff very friendly. The front cover of the menu was a joy to look at and unusual. Decorated tastefully inside. Stayed for almost 4 hours just talking to my aunt who I haven seen for a long time. She enjoyed the food as well.

Came here with my family last Saturday, we booked a table for 4 at 7pm and it was busy but we were quickly seen too and seated by who I think was the manager. We all had starters I had the bruschetta which was lovely and fresh as well as sharing a cheesy garlic bread between us. For mains I had the penne calebrese which again was perfect while the others had pizzas all of who thoroughly enjoyed them. The servers were all lovely especially the blonde girl who was amazing with my younger siblings even with it being so busy. Overall I would definitely recommend for families as it is great value for money and the service is the best we’ve had.

Chad Powers and his son Regan were amazing, created a friendly and comfortable atmosphere with great atmosphere. They were very friendly with myself and friends, and the food was incredible. Could not recommend it more, fantastic food, fantastic service 10/10

The other half and I called for here for lunch, with my Sister and her eldest son after a visit to the Cathedral. My sister and other half opted for the Cheese and Ham Omellete. The Nephew ordered the Mediterranean Veg and Goats Cheese Panini, whilst I selected the Chicken and Mayo Panini all of which came with chunky chips and a side salad. All of the meals where well presented and served hot. Staff where friendly and helpful and quickly advised visitors that they were having difficulties with card payments so where only accepting cash payments. This didn't seem to deter the steady flow of people coming in to dine.

We were “greeted” by the Italian manager, we told him we had a table booked. He led us to a table,pointed at it and walked away Another man came up and took our order. He and the other staff seemed very pleasant.I had steak,my wife had the chicken The meals were average, we had a bottle of wine and some drinks, we decided to finish the night with a brandy coffee and a tia Maria coffee, both were very poor, could not taste any alcohol in either. As we left we said goodnight, the manager just ignored us(it doesn’t cost anything for good manners) we noticed he had been moaning and shouting at his hard working staff all night.Overall staff good, Don Corlemoany needs to lighten up.

I visited with family as we have done for a good while now, it was pretty quiet for a weekend evening leading up to Christmas. Service was good and the waitress had a smile and was very bubbly. We had a mixture of pasta, pizza, chicken and fish. The food was OK, however the pasta portion sizes were small. When I'm paying £14 for pasta carbonara, I expect the food to be better than "OK" and a decent portion size. How much does it cost the restaurant to add a little more pasta? The sauce didn't taste like authentic Carbonara, and was mainly cream. Whilst the pizzas were reasonably priced for what you got, other dishes were well over priced. Beer was reasonably priced, house wine was expensive. There are other good restaurants in Durham, and surrounding areas, be they Italians or other wise, that cost around the same. The difference being the food is better and I actually feel full when I'm finished. We were all disappointed, and will be seriously considering whether or not to return. It's a shame, it always used to be really good, costs have increased due to Covid and inflation but when you double the menu prices for pasta and increase Chicken dishes by nearly 50%, I expect better. Sorry.

Excellent food, but why oh why don't they score those enormous pizzas through with a cutter before bringing them to the table? Using a knife to try cutting a slice from a pizza that's bigger than the plate, while the pizza slides around crazily is an exhausting exercise. Embarrassing too, when the pizza slips and knocks drinks over! These wrestling matches no doubt amuse the staff and nearby diners but they just p***s me off! TOP TIP: Take your own pizza cutter!

Came here after my wife had been with work, superb food. Very busy, but worth the wait. Pizzas are huge. Would have loved a dessert, but no room left. Will be back.

This place is absolutely delicious! Food is mouth wateringly good and came in absolutely no time at all. Staff were absolutely lovely, polite and helpful - we all got both pizzas and pasta and can honestly say they were cooked to absolute perfection, huge portions mind but we love that as we got to take some home with us! Already can't wait to return! What a gem! Ps, make sure you book as it gets a bit busy!

I visited with the family on a Friday evening. Because it was the Lumiere event, I had booked a table in advance which was a good move. We were shown to a table on the first floor, which was fine (at first!). Firstly the positives. The location is great, just off the market place and I opted for the lasagne which was very good and came with a slice of garlic bread and a (very small) side salad. Others in my party had pizzas and the risotto and all got the thumbs up. Now the not-so-good. On our arrival, we were met by an older guy who I assume was the manager and he did not seem exactly pleased to see us, especially when we told him there were "only" four in our group and not the five I had booked for. This seemed to be a great inconvenience and there was much moving about of tables before we could sit down. The waitresses who served us were great - friendly and efficient. We were also half way through our meal when two very large groups of people, many in fancy dress, then came in and were shown to two long tables also on the first floor and the volume was so loud it was impossible to even talk amongst ourselves. So overall, good food but be prepared for indifferent service (on arrival!) and a very loud atmosphere.

This used to be my favourite restaurant to go to. However, my most recent experience wasn’t great. It took 50 minutes for mine and my partners starters to come out and a further 50 minutes after that for the mains. When wanting drinks, cutlery, the bill etc. it would take atleast 3 attempts asking each time for them to actually bring what we asked over. The service was appalling; no manners, check backs on how our food was, no apology for the delay, nothing. It is an utter shame as this was my first time bringing my partner there really speaking highly of it, and it really let us down. Don’t recommend if customer service is something you look for in a restaurant.

My friend and I booked last minute when visiting Durham and had a delicious meal with great service. It was a Thursday night but the restaurant was full with a cosy, friendly ambience. Would definitely recommend it. Good value too.

Second visit and caught the end of a busy lunch hour. Both had 2 courses taking advantage of the special offers. Calamari starter was delicious and salmon tasty though the bread could have been better. Main courses were huge. I had spaghetti amatriciana and my partner breaded chicken with spaghetti. Both really tasty and we cleared out plates. Not quite authentic Italian but great tasting meals and good value for money. The menu is extensive and there’s plenty to choose from though not a huge vegetarian choice. Service was friendly and welcoming despite the place being packed when we arrived. Only down side was our seats next to the toilet as the last visitor certainly made their presence known in there and we were both glad we had finished our meal when we got a not very pleasant blast when the toilet door was opened. First time visit. We had booked a table for 6 people at 7pm. Upon arrival we were surprised to see a large gaggle of people stood outside in the cold, we soon found out they all had bookings too. The entire restaurant was filled with people stood in between/around tables, I was unaware there was an upstairs at this point. Unaware of what was going on, I squeezed through and approached a member of staff (the owner I think), to let him know our party had arrived for our booking. He aggressively told me to wait outside as he had loads of people waiting for tables (most of whom hadn't booked) and loudly said "WHY ARE PEOPLE SO IMPATIENT" as I walked away, to pretty much the entire restaurant. Good start. He left us all outside for another 15 minutes before gesturing us to enter the restaurant, what a privilege. He marched us over to a CCTV screen behind the bar and pointed to an empty table upstairs and said "You are there". Clearly still annoyed by our earlier interaction. He could've gave us a map and compass instead to make things a bit easier. We all laughed in disbelief that he couldn't be bothered to seat us so off we went to the naughty table. There wasn't enough menu's in the restaurant (apparently) so we shared 2 between 6. 45 minutes passed and we still hadn't received our drinks. We were sat by the little food elevator that brings food up and down from the kitchen and having the benefit of seeing the majority of dishes on offer come out, I didn't fancy anything that couldn't be mastered by a teenager. All the pizzas looked like they'd been warmed up from frozen, pastas looked microwaved and starters from the back of an old cupboard. I played it safe with potato skins and a pizza. The potato skins were undercooked and the dipping sauce awful. Most of our party got bruschetta which looked miserable. Served hot, not fresh at all and draped in a blanket of melted cheese? Weird. The pizza was rock hard and a jaw workout to chew through, most of our party who ordered pizza ended up leaving most of it. The toppings on mine looked to be added AFTER cooking, uncooked jalapeños etc. Total visit took over 2 hours and made us slightly late for onward plans. I will never ever go here again, I am baffled how this place is popular. I've never had such bad service and food, avoid at all costs. Get a sandwich from Tesco across the road.

We went just after 5.00pm so it was very quite. The staff however were very polite and attentive and everyone enjoyed there meal. I had a Calzone that was so big I had to bring half of it home with me.

Firstly a warning for anyone who uses the toilet upstairs...the floor on the landing is extremely slippery (possibly because it is near the kitchen) and I very nearly took a tumble down all of the stairs. The service is quick enough but it would have been nice if the staff were a little happier. The food looked very good and the portions were very generous. The pasta was however a little bland. The pizza was fine though. The garlic bread is a good buy as it is the size of a large pizza... certainly enough for 4 to share. Prices are reasonable at around £15 for the main courses.

In Durham a couple of days. Saw this place. Checked on TA, good reviews. Fancied Italian, went in, shown to a window table. Friendly staff. Small. Rustic. Lovely food. Good value. I’d have no hesitation recommending.

Visited on the recommendation of friends. Not disappointed. The restaurant is central and clean. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. I was even able to order my mushroom risotto without garlic! The food quality and presentation are amazing and the helpings...

Portion sizes are great. Had the Mexican Enchiladas and wasn't very impressed with the chicken or the spice level. Knew is had jalapeños in but think the spice level should have been noted on the menu.

"OUT-PIZZA'S THE HUT!" I've seen some italian places but this one takes the damn cake. I've been multiple times and the best way to sum it up is A PERFECT spot for a date. The staff are lovely to us everytime we go but the food is to die for. The pizzas are large, perfect for me as I have quite the appetite. Real thin crust italian pizza. I've also tried the lasagne there and its beautiful. Cooked beautifully every time and I've been back for more than seconds. Thats me done, I'd give this place a 6 star if i could.

I really enjoyed my visit to Uno Momento. Me and 3 other guests had an excellent dinner. The staff were positively overflowing with friendliness. The food was of a high standard. Not the finest Italian cuisine, but wholesome, freshly prepared and tasty. And the portion sizes were enormous. The total bill for 4 people was just over £70. Very impressive all round.

Just okay. The decor and vibe is definitely a highlight of this place. I think the food was a tad underwhelming even though their portions are huge. Unfortunately their pasta isn't homemade which I understand is difficult considering they have a huge menu. It's a good place for people with British palettes but I wouldn't say it's authentic Italian. I would dine here if going with picky eaters because there are a lot of options.

Very enjoyable lunch. Just had pizzas and red wine. House wine was good and pizzas were good but massive. One could have been shared. Staff were excellent. Not sure if it was the manager who served us but he was very good.

The least Italian thing about the restaurant and something they need to address. 1 out of 5 for the coffee. However, I'm sure most visitors to the restaurant won't be interested in having coffee. If you're looking for great Italian food, at very reasonable price then come here. Its fantastic. If you want a nice coffee, Id look for somewhere more specialised

What an absolute find this place is! It's a proper Italian restaurant and we loved it. The menu is vast but everything our group has was delicious. The staff were so good as well, its a really nice atmosphere in there, we definitely had some great banter with the waiter! It's also so well priced, we had to check the receipt to make sure they'd charged us enough! Totally recommend.

Booked a table, arrived 5 minutes early, no tables available so sat us upstairs in a cold room to wait, 25 minutes later still sat there so decided to leave. Restaurant owners always complain about people making bookings and not turning up but then happy...

We were robbed here. We were given specials menu, but were charged full price.....the staff paid for this, as we did not leave a tip. Food was OK, but not special. Never going back
