Unicorn in Coventry

We ordered through uber eats, phoned up the chippy to check on the order to which they said they had not received. The uber eats app said preparing but stayed on that so we thought it wasnt coming as the chippy did not have our order. We had no other option but to cook our own food to which 30 mins later the uber eats order arrived to our astonishment as the chippy could not find the order. The food was cold, old and frankly disgusting and ruined our evening. Never again will we order through uber eats or from this chippy.

Went up to order food and waited ages to be served. I ordered half roast chicken with rice and chips. When my food arrived, I had one bite of the chicken which was extremely dry and didn't look appealing. Had a bit of the rice and it was definitely uncle Ben microwaved rice. The chips were ok but not great. When I said to the waitress who brought out the other food for my table I asked her to take my plate as the chicken was very dry and the rice was not very nice. She took my plate and didn't even get an apology out of her. I then spoke to the manager who apologised and said they changing hands, that was it. No refund or anything, didn't even seemed bothered. The service was awful, the food was awful and management didn't seem to really care. I NEVER complain when it comes to food but that was bloody awful and I will NOT be going back there again.

The staff did seem to be trying the best there’s just not enough of them but the table is dirty the cutlery wasn’t clean and it’s not a place to relax with children all over the place which is fine if you’ve got children. The bar service is extremely slow But it was steak night and there was nothing at all wrong with the steak.

I had a party in the horseplay area and the staff member roisin was very helpful. Due to the demand there should have been more than 1 member of staff on however she did a great job in assuring the party ran smoothly!

Halle-bloody-lujah we finally get a decent meal at The Unicorn. For the first time in many visits I finally left this establishment having enjoyed my food. To be honest, we usually only visit here because, in the words of my 6 year old son he is "I believe I'm a fan of the place" but the food is usually sub-standard; under-cooked gammon or cremated crispy chicken. Having been to St Nicholas Park this morning, Bank Holiday found all the chippy's shut and being too hot to cook a meal in a pub garden with the glorious sunshine was appealing. Throw in a new menu and a 'Kids eat for £1' on a Monday and it looked promising.So the missus had her usual crispy chicken with parmigiana sauce and I tried the new Route 66 burger (burger, cheese, bbq pulled pork, 2 hash browns and a fried egg in a brioche bun - nom nom!) and the Little Man had the kids hot dog meal. Drinks were a cup of tea, a glass of milk and a glass of coke. All of the above for a little over £23. Service today was friendly and quick and I really couldn't fault it. There you go, Unicorn, you've set the bar for next time. Don't let me down!

I went, ate the food on a nice quiet evening. There's not much to say really, nothing special other than they can't cook a steak. But meal was tasty and drinks were OK. It's close to where I live.

Just got back from here, food is very good and portions are big, BUT, when ordering double check the price list above your head as there is a difference in what you should pay and what you are charged. The till has all the prices programmed into the buttons so how are mistakes made??. Other than that a good place to visit.

Unicorn chippy on stonebury ave is brilliant. We have chippy tea once a week, always consistently fresh. Very friendly owners, they work very hard to keep things good........Very happy customers😍

Visiting area, Friday great food, excellent service . Saturday hardly anyone in. Waited for utensils, food came first, cod and chips very good, we were asked twice were we ready for our dessert which was part of the deal, I had to ask three people where it was! Finally it came, melted with cream stuck on top, stroppy waitress put it on table, enjoy she said, we had waited about 30 mins for a dessert that obviously been left sitting , thank goodness our local HR is excellent

First I must point out the last review below does not describe this place, I think the reviewer there is describing another place perhaps a pub nearby once called The Unicorn. Always happy with this place. Staff always very friendly, the place is always clean and tidy and the portions are big (often too much to eat) fresh and tasty. What more can you ask for from a chippy?

1 star is generous, we arrived to most tables having reserved signs on them, waited 50 minutes for the 2 roasts for £10 when it arrived we were asked to move because they had a big party coming in and needed the table, we were moved to a table that moved up and down every time you leaned on it. The food was the worst I've ever been served in my entire life. The frozen roast potatoes were raw in the middle, veg between raw and soggy, gravy like water, roast beef a mass of gristle and fat, didn't eat it . Did not complain as I had to pick up grandchild who was in the horse play at a party and didn't have the time to try and find a staff member.

Nice chips although the portions are very large, curry sauce was good too, this is a very busy place and food appeared to be cooked fresh, there was certainly a lot of people picking up big orders
