This take away is one of the BEST their food isn't oily the employees are always friendly and they give you fantastic service been going to this shop for years there food keeps me coming back

Don't go to many chippies but I've been going to uncle jims for years never had a bad bit of food, staff are all very friendly, donner kebab is the best

The last visit at this place I was slightly disappointed as the chips were very dry and overcooked In the past this place was buzzing and food was spot on Come on guys get your mojo back

Decent food at a decent price......but in 2023 I shouldn't have to go searching for cashpoints to pay for food because they only take cash.

love it so much ! doner kebab is always tender and its amazing with some lettuce and garlic mayo. the chips are always so good and theres so much flavour. the sausages are also really good . a bit greasy, but thats to be expected. and the cod is amazing. the skin is always crispy. over all, 5 stars.

We revisited Uncle Jim's Bar and the fish & chips are still decent size. The staff is still friendly & professional, unfortunately the quality is not the same. The fish was very oily (I get it that is deep fried) and we couldn't taste anything other then veggie stock taste!? I hope it was a mix up and when we go next time the delicious taste that we know is back

Been 3 times now it’s my local chippy. All 3 times the chips have been undercooked to the point where my wife now refuses to let me buy chips from here. It feels like they’re just rushing to get them out as quickly as possible which I don’t understand as it’s never super busy. I thought maybe it’s just not to our taste but last night I had a mate over (as wife wont to eat from there anymore) and within a couple chips he said they weren’t fully cooked. Some of the larger chips were still hard in the middle. If I lived closer I would have taken them back. Shame as fish is very nice and very friendly staff.

It’s so inconsistent here that’s the problem. Sometimes the chips and kebabs are great and other times they are not. Battered sausages, saveloy and curry spring rolls are always on point though. It’s peters pies here not pukka. Prices have gone up more than once in a short amount of time but that seems to be the case everywhere . If they can sort out getting their food to be the same every time I’d be a much more regular visitor.

Large cod and chips portions are very generous, cant fault it for the price

The portions of chips are large but worth the money especially if sharing , nice selection of kebab's burgers pies , chicken, curry sauce , rolls . Fish is also nice. Great meal deals and childrens portions.

OLD BOSS IS BACK FINALLY!!! Hygiene is back on point. Food are delicious. Fish always fresh! Doner tastes marvellous! The wings are a must try! Very nice sauce they make themselves - goes very good with the food!! You guys should go and give it a try!!

Love the kebabs. Lamb shish is excellent: good quality meat, and the sauces and salads are great. Always like to have food from here when I'm down from Sheffield as the kebabs up here just aren't as good as in London.

Just got served ice cold chips. Do not come before lunch time because they will serve you old food. Really gutted to have to leave this.

The best chip shop ever! Chips are always fresh, great customer service and they have the MOST AMAZING wings!!! They are very tasy and well seasoned, can’t get enough of them! I come here several times a week jus for the wings. The only disappointment is grilled chicken pieces are a lot smaller than they use to be but taste oh soooo good. Best fish & chip shop in Canning town area. The Kebabs are great and the grilled chicken wings are really tasty. Great family owned business

Been going here since i was child...now old with kids of my own and still one of the best fish and chip shops around. Better kebab shops locally but for fish and chips they cannot be beaten.

Depends on when you go here..if you hit it just right (eg). When they have just cooked fish and the chips etc. Really tasty..also depends on the potatoes being used,to how your chips turn out..sometimes fish can be thin, and small,even if you ask for large fish..friendly staff..clean.. not a bad chippie at all..especially when the food has just been cooked..

It has gone down hill with the new staff. They don't listen, they over cook everything. Long wait times. Don't go here till old staff come back from holidays. Bad.

Always busy but service is still fast. We have tried the kebabs, fish and chips and it is the best around. Very highly recommended.

Regular here for the past year, only ever ordered the cod and chips and has been consistently good. Nothing special, service is as expected, venue appeared clean but local council gave it 1/5 for hygiene etc. Good for chips.

Last time I went there the man was racist to a black costumer and was swearing alot. Wings are great but not as goodd are a few years ago.

Ive had a few chippy's in my time and my gosh that is not one to be remembered. Ordered Chips and small donner, was debating. Was debating weather to order the fish but decided against it and go for the donner as all the reviews refer to the donner being 'amazing'. Well amazing it was.. Chips were drier than the sahara desert and tastes like a boiled potato. One bite into the donner and the smell of meat that had gone off was so overwhelming the food should come with a health hazard sticker. The food hygiene rating is 1. Which is the lowest you can have. I stupidly did not check this and luckily my wife decided to while I tucked in to a chip....well that was the end of the chip and the meal. It's a real shame as the reviews for this place are quite high but I feel misleading as anyone with a palate would realise that food is not up to scratch.

i can honestly say one of the best fish place in this area , i love the spicy wings which are cooked on charcoal grill recommended. i have been trying their kofte kebab and very happy with it well balanced spicy kofte try and see.
