U Grubego in Luton

My son and I very much wanted to try this restaurant. We looked them up on Facebook and saw that the menu was entirely in Polish, so we were a bit apprehensive about a visit. We walked past it and tried to check it out, but still could only see a Polish menu. We spent time trying to translate it. And then we booked. We needn't have worried. The lovely, friendly waitress talked us through the dishes, and to be honest, it wouldn't really matter what we had. It was all tasty, and looked amazing. We had soup to start. Warning here, if you have a small appetite, this will be enough. I then had meatballs and my son had a Schnitzel. Both dishes came with mash, coleslaw and red cabbage and the portions were heroic. The food was hot and good. If, like my son and I, your Polish is non existent, I suggest going in the afternoon so you have time to talk about what you want. Lovely restaurant - we will be returning

Everything is delicious, very large portions, always fresh, the menu is varied, and there are always dishes recommended by the chef. The best pork shank I've ever eaten in the UK, delicious zander, lots of game dishes, very nice service, I've never waited longer than a few minutes. Very affordable prices, very nice restaurant, with a typical Polish atmosphere. For me, one of the best Polish restaurants. I RECOMMEND

I had the pleasure of tasting the tenderloin in mushroom sauce and the zrazy, which were simply delicious. The dish was served with potatoes and two kinds of salads. Both the tenderloin and the zrazy were cooked to perfection - the meat was incredibly tasty, and the mushroom sauce added a unique aroma to the dish. The salads, fresh and crunchy, were a perfect contrast to the main course, adding lightness to the whole. I am impressed by the quality of the ingredients and the skills of the chef. I definitely recommend this place to anyone who appreciates sophisticated flavors and the quality of the food served. Obsluga jest bardzo nie mila, otoz zamowilam obiad ze znajomymi i przyniesli mi moje danie ( byl to kotlet z jelenia ktory chcialam sprobowac) w daniy tym znalazlam wlos( z panierki kotleta wystawal ), pan byl uprzejmy i powiedzial ze wymienia natomiast nie mineli kilka minutpani kelnerka podeszla do naszego stolika i oskarzyla mnie iz specjalnue wrzucilam ten wlos, niestety chcialam dac druga szanse temu lokalowi ale niestety obsluga ( w szczegbosci pani kelnerka) zniechecila mnie do odwiedzania i polecania tego lokalu. I have been In many polish restaurant. However this the worst I ever been. Starter as chicken soup was with out any taste. They give us starter and main in the same time. Main course was tragedy. As I ordered special roast deer and this was dry with out taste like chewing gum. If you value your time I would recommend not to waste for this unpleasant experience.

This was first time we went to eat there and we were positively surprised. Prices of meals are reasonable, can't fault the portions and service was timely. Food was good and we all enjoyed the meal. Drinks look absolutely stunning and they taste as good as they are served - well worth trying. We will be returning for sure! Only downside is lack of parking, but that can be said about all city centre restaurants.

Good polish food. Prices good.

The food was good, but the place is not very clean the tables were dirty, then to my horror I saw the woman clean a table after someone left and only using a tissue to wipe around the things on the table. Don't have table cloths if you not going to clean up the crumbs and stains. No one was wearing masks. The food was great but after seeing the cleanliness, it was shocking for a restaurant that is not busy.

Really good food , fast service . Massive serving portions. Considering home made like quality it's very inexpensive place. Gentlemen behind the counter was very polite and friendly as well as the lady who served us . 5* for quality, service and prices. Highly recommend.

Mimi że dotarłem tam już po godzinie 18.30( po zamknięciu kuchni) Sympatyczna Pani z obsługi namówiła jeszcze kucharzy by zrobili dla mnie jeszcze zestaw dnia. Byłem bardzo głodny i pyszny duży zestaw obiadowy sprawił że jestem najedzony i szczęśliwy i z przyjemnością polecam to miejsce!!!

Rewelacja.Jesteśmy sobie przejazdem w Luton w drodze do Polski i postanowiliśmy coś przegryść. Szybki rzut oka na mapy i widzimy bar u Grubego 5 min od Nas w centrum. Jedzenie rewelacja porcje bardzo duże i wszystko smaczne i świeże.Polecam

Went after speaking to 2 of my Polish colleagues. Place is very clean with very pleasant staff. I only wanted a snack so just asked for a typical Polish soup. It came with a full boiled egg cut in half.. cubes of Polish sausages with onions but was in a very pickly broth. Can only give 3 stars based on what I had, but will try again.

Jakieś tygodniowe specjały szefa) P.s. chce tu jeszcze kiedyś wrócić I z radością zauważyć kilka zmian na lepsze i z nastawieniem dla wszystkich nacji ,bo bylem na obiedzie z Angielką którą czuła się trochę obco,a przecież wciąż była u siebie I chciała na prawdę skosztować waszej (naszej)Polskiej kuchni którą ogólnie bardzo lubi.

I would recommend this Restaurant, need to take one star as previously experienced that staff closed before 7 pm. Nevertheless good decision to come back following day as service, food quality and generosity of portions are amazing.

We had such good memories of a holiday in Poland that four of us decided to try this restaurant. When we arrived there was a major problem - despite previously booking, on arrival they said they were closed for a private students meeting. They apologised profusely and gave us a voucher for £40.Unfortunately, they said they had mislaid our telephone number. We didn't give up and returned a few weeks later. Despite not speaking Polish, we were greeted in English in a very friendly manner. The food was of a good standard and we all enjoyed the experience. We suggested a discount of only £20., but they insisted on honouring their commitment!

went there recently for lunch with a friend. We had some Goląbki (cabbage rolls stuffed with mice meat and rice, topped with rich tomato sauce) and it was amazing! Literally melting in my mouth and full of flavour! So far I've tried a few things and was stunned by the quality and the portion size of each one of them! Very traditional food but with modern twist! The restaurant is a nice place with a character. Highly recommended! Best complements to the chefs! Definitely will be back😊

Zaskakująco krótki czas oczekiwania na potrawy, co niestety jest spowodowane tym, że jedzenie jest przygotowywane wcześniej i odgrzewane. Nie zmienia to jednak faktu że jedzenie jest bardzo smaczne i talerze obficie zapełnione.

We have been here 2 times. Excellent food, main dish are well dose, big steak with photato and salat. Deserts very good. Walking distans from Luton Mall.

Been here with my wife a few times already and I couldn`t find the place on tripadvisor, so I thought to add it as the place is really worth it. This is a pure Polish restaurant with Polish cuisine foods. The place was recently renovated and it looks very good (East European style). The restaurant has a nice bar with many choices of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. The menu changes periodically and is written up on a black-board next to the bar (in Polish language only unfortunately). What ever you are choosing to eat, is very tasty as well the deserts. All Polish fresh made food and sweets/cakes. For more details please see the pics which I attached. :)
