Tziganos in Lewisham

As stated in my title this was our 2nd visit in 6 weeks, we did actually try and visit a couple of weeks ago in the week for lunch, but foolishly we didn’t check the open times and they were closed. The food was yet again absolutely delicious, but when it comes to service it was unbeatable. We were well looked after by Tony who remembered us from our first visit. Tony was attentive and welcoming, but also gave us the time and chatted with us. Tony did try and convert us to liking Aperol Spritz and although it’s the best we’ve tasted, we’re not quite fully converted just yet! We look forward to coming back again soon with friends. Tony thank you again we look forward to seeing you soon.

Awful food .... the Rocket and Parmasan salad was literally a whole bag of Rocket thrown on to a plate with a few shavings of Parmasan, so few I had difficulty finding it.Never go there again. And the Spaghetti Carbonara was so bland and tasteless. I can make better.

We’re on a mission to try as many restaurants as possible in Blackheath and this was not a disappointment. Whilst sat in this quaint little restaurant I read the reviews and some were mixed which made me dubious. The less positive reviews were basically all on service. There were two staff working “the floor” and it was clear to us that the young female was relatively new, however she done really well. Our only criticism was we waited a while for our bottle of wine, we both said that we wouldn’t mind waiting for the food a while longer but would have liked our drink whilst we waited, but this will not deter us from visiting again. Tony who was the other staff member was so lovely, very welcoming and was working very hard ensuring all customers were happy and although he was clearly a little under pressure still took the time to have a quick chat. Stand up guy - thank you! The meatballs and sauce were DELICIOUS, along with focaccia, carbonara, mushroom arancini, gnocchi and a portion of chips. My partner was absolutely delighted they were tapas so he was able to try more dishes! Food was great - not one fault. We were even treated to some live music. Great atmosphere - make sure you visit it really is a lovely place.

We had a brilliant evening here last night having last visited a good while back. The food was great and there is a really good selection of wine too. Lots of people were drinking the sangria - I’ll try that next time! The staff were good (the lady working the bar knew her stuff) and the owner was really friendly, taking the time to talk to us and make sure everything was going well. We will be back!

It’s awful to write a not great review BUT this was a dreadful dining experience….and I would rather warn people. Two couples met for a belated 60 th get together after living a long way away and at times over different countries - uni mates! I had some reluctance to book this based on reviews but my friend said pre- Covid it was always good when they stayed. Staff were nice but not enough on and service was dire. It was maybe 75/90 mins from being seated we were finally served, the room upstairs was chilly though did heat up. Some tapas not available - nothing fancy just something like pork and cheese so by 9 pm my friend and I had really not much to eat. Final bill all over and about 50 quid over what was ordered- eaten. In fairness, they addressed this professionally but it felt like a wasted night and not the occasion it should have been and esp with other nice nicer eateries locally. I wouldn’t ever go back and am surprised it’s still going in this area.

Had the three course valentines menu, ordered oysters. Paid £25 for 6 oysters which is extortionate anyway especially when they arrived and the oyster had not even been removed from the shell so I had to de shell them myself, also when the chef can’t tell the difference between the top shell of a oyster and the bottom bit you actually serve is worrying. Lamb chops was over cooked, waited approximately 45 mins for each course. The mash had been over boiled and water had absorbed into the potato making it a gloopy under seasoned mess. Ravioli was barely bang average. The soufflé here is not a soufflé, it’s a chocolate cake. This is a shame as I used to come here a lot for the tapas and it never disappointed. The valentines menu was an absolute shambles, disappointed to say the least as this was my recommendation to come here. will never be coming here again. Lovely service from a nice Asian lady who was very polite and on the floor running it on her own even though there was two or three people behind the bar.

Awful. When the manager argues with you when asking where our olives are for the second time you know this isn’t a good place. As for the octopus…..Deep fried, frozen and not good. Come on….you have rockpool (and amazing fish mongers) opposite. Get your fish and seafood there and support another local business. As for the melanzane…..not good either. However, their garlic breads seem to be pretty good (only things actually edible). Thanks for a great date night. Never ever again.

The food is really good but the service, not so. They seemed short staffed; they took ages to take the order and then even longer for any food to arrive and then 30 mins or more between dishes. Once we had the food, it was undoubtably really great, I just wish it could have arrived sooner. We decided not to bother to order any more dishes and they seem to be running out of the favourites. A shame really. The food was so good that we would go again, maybe in a smaller group and sit nearer the front where it'll no doubt be easier to get the staff's attention.

Amazing service and food. We came here for my boyfriends birthday and as there was a large group of us they put us in a separate room upstairs and let us connect a phone to a speaker and play our own music. From start to finish the service was amazing, servers really attentive. Food was great, had lots of different tapas dishes and food came out really promptly despite how many of us there were. Would definitely return.

Me and my girlfriend had a wonderful experience. They had space for our buggy which was great and the atmosphere was really nice. We particularly enjoyed the croquettes as they were always out of them the previous times we came, as well as the carbonara pasta. Truly authentic Italian and Spanish food. Staff were really friendly and checked in on us at several points of the night and overall was a really good place to visit. Will defo be back!

Having pre-booked Sunday lunch for three people we were initially rather sceptical to find we were the only diners! (another couple arrived shortly after us).However our concerns were soon allayed as the pasta dishes we each ordered were absolutely wonderful. The service was also fabulous and we won’t hesitate to return some other time.

Was looking forward to trying Tziganos but overall it was very uninspiring. Food was mediocre, you can definitely get better tapas with more choices & better value in many other places. Service was slow & one waitress actually came across as rude, as if she really didn't want to be there. Most disappointing, especially in this day & age, was the total lack of accessibility of tables or facilities for those with disabilities. I have both a best friend in a wheelchair & a father with mobility issues. All the tables are high with tall chairs so not appropriate. Not sure how families with small children would fare either. Overall, we won't be going again & would recommend many better places in Blackheath to eat.

Greeted by enthusiastic staff, the menu looked decent enough and ultimately all the dishes tasted great. Drinks were quite decent too. However, it took over 90 minutes from being seated until the main course arrived. Clearly an error in the kitchen and we were given first drinks on the house. Staff are professional but it's hard to rate a place higher when your stomach is rumbling. Price was fair enough.

I had a really good experience. Staff and the manager were so friendly and gave us plenty of recommendations as it was our first time trying out tapas. Their recommendations were spot on both for the food and in terms of portions. the cocktails were so nice and the happy hour definitely came in hard! I would strongly recommend the salted caramel espresso martini because that was gorgeous! overall great experience and would definitely go again!

We booked here as we were going to see a show at the halls. It was a glorious Saturday so the front windows were open. We arrived at 445 so it was still acceptable then to have them open but by the time we left they should have been shut I wasn’t the warmest and it is late October. The staff (only one man on first arrival) was super friendly and worked hard to tend to every table. Sadly our only issue was the time for the food to arrive. But when it did it was very nice and fresh. We were going to have a second round of tapas but had churros instead - suggestion don’t drizzle with chocolate sauce. Perhaps put on the side - that wasn’t for me but that’s personal choice. All in all the meal was a great price and most of the food was delicious. We would go back - hoping it was a blip with the wait time and perhaps they were short staffed in the kitchen as most places struggle post covid to hire and maintain staff.

This is a lovely place, very friendly and welcoming staff, we always enjoy coming here. The manager always goes out of his way to make us feel comfortable so we can enjoy our time here, food is good as well (highly recommend the chorizo from the tapas menu). :))) Definitely recommend this place + very good value for money.

There are so many nice places to eat in Blackheath, this is not one of them. Ordered sangria and a meat and cheese platter. The sangria came out of a jug that had been sitting on the side and just topped up with lots of lemonade. It could have done with actually having some red wine in it. The platter was awful. Mostly salad, about 4 pieces of cheese and meat that was cheap and processed that I have never seen on any type of tapas before. I’m just relieved we only ordered that. We were able to leave and go somewhere decent for our dinner instead such as the Everest Inn. We won’t be returning.

An interesting tapas bar & grill which we booked on their special tapas evening I like to support local restaurants but isn’t it becoming plain that many restaurants don’t have a chef in the kitchen with skills that turn out delicious food to eat & enjoy, what they have been replaced by is someone in the kitchen that heats up something prepared many miles away possibly on the Slough trading estate! If we don’t do something about this soon London will become the heated up food capital of Europe! This isn’t a bad eating experience the staff are friendly but what goes on in the kitchen?
