Bloody expensive and not value for money

I don't normally write reviews but I am still in shock of how bad the food truly was. Came for dinner tonight for a friend's birthday and went upstairs for a drink (this was ok) we were told our table was ready and we were taken downstairs...the room we were taken into was dark, dirty, broken chairs in the corner and next to the toilet which had alot of traffic in a out. There was no music downstairs and it felt like we were sitting in a corridor. We asked our waitress if we could turn the free standing lamp on to which she said "yea sure but it won't make much difference " Ordered our food and when the starters came we had no cutlery or napkins, the starters were poor but edible. The mains turned up (luckily with cutlery) and I can honestly say I have never been out for dinner where I could physically not eat it. I ordered the grilled chicken burger and the bun was frozen and the chicken was dry and had an awful taste to it. I couldn't eat it so I went a found the waitress and told her.(my friend had the same burger and she couldn't eat hers either ) One of my other friends recieved his order 20 -25 mins after the rest of the table. No one came to ask us if the food was OK. No one came to check on us. I only got my meal taken off the bill because I told her I wasn't going to pay for it. Our whole table said the food wasnt great. We sat with plates infront of us for atleast 45-1 hour after everyone had finished. Shame as I had high hopes. But I will not be returning. This is a great bar but downstairs needs refurbing and the food seriously needs evaluating.

Popped in yesterday for the first time to ask a question and to visit in the future, but the bar-man was SO RUDE, UNFRIENDLY and EXTREMELY UNWELCOMING I'm not sure I'll ever go back!!!👎👎👎

Walked in before the advertised closing time and was told the bar was shut by a very rude and obnoxious stoned member of staff. Jog on.

Fantastic team , quality food, always book the best live acts , great selection of drinks and deals on cocktails- you’ll be hard to find a better vibe to relax and enjoy yourself in Tunbridge Wells.

We came for our first time at the bank holiday weekend and absolutely loved it. Such a great venue, Amazing friendly helpful staff and loved seeing Tyber And Pete perform again. Lovely food too. Definitely will be coming back. Thanks for an awesome night.

Went Wednesday to Tyber's Bar to see Tyber and Pete . Way way to hot. Waited until 8.15ish for some question and answers (pre rehearsed). Then waited a further 45 mins plus for them to sing. Then it was only 45 mins. Surcharge added on drinks to support live music?. If it was that's bit bad as it was a ticketed event. Love them but sadly will not go here again. Poor organisation extreme heat and the Dj stood at the front blocking our view from the side. Seats are to small hard and uncomfortable. Was a 60th birthday gift and we travelled from Cheshire. Excellent music when they eventually sang. Great music poor event sorry xxx

This is a bar that have a go at doing food so don’t expect fine dining! The calamari came (for £8) as just a bowl with a few dry bits of calamari in (see photo). No sauce, nothing alongside it. The beer choices are weird. They have about 6 very similar lagers on tap (Red Stripe, Cruzcampo, Amstel, Moretti) but not a single pale ale / IPA etc.

Had a date night here a few weekends ago and was not too impressed. Food was okay, but tasted more like a microwave meal, Cocktails were super watery and then we were basically shoved out the door before we’d even finished our drinks. No offer of dessert, more drinks or even asking if we’d like to head upstairs to the music. 2 members of staff were lovely, one who took our booking on the phone and another who brought out our food, but our waitress who brought the bill couldn’t get us out fast enough. Glad we went but probably won’t be coming back anytime soon.

Great atmosphere. Dj had the crowd dancing with old school reggae, RnB and ska. Staff friendly and it was a real joy to find such a unique and lively venue in Tunbridge Wells.

What can I say about tybers it’s like home from home the staff go above and beyond to make us feel comfortable so warm and welcoming.. The manager Joe so friendly very polite and does a good job in his management role.. Sarena always welcomes us with a massive smile she just great fun to be around and is always on the look out to make sure we are having a good time.. ( we love you reggae mum) We love coming here we look at the tybers crew as our 2nd family x

Food poor definitely not jerk chicken.. curry goat microwaved and tasteless… drinks are lovely… DJ very good could do with some Caribbean vibe behind the bar

Very bad workers for the karaoke had 10 songs ritten down only let me sing one the person doing the karaoke seemed to be drunk and on drugs should not be working there really unsatisfied

Had my birthday meal here last weekend and so glad we chose to go to Tyber's! My original restaurant booking was cancelled by the venue last minute but Tyber's managed to get my whole party despite the short notice. Massive thank you to the wonderful staff who are so friendly and helpful and saved my birthday! Food was excellent, delicious as always and everyone in my party loved their meal. Cocktails equally delicious and generous! Band and DJ were brilliant, such a lovely vibe and crowd. It felt like there were a lot of regulars and there was a good community feel to the evening. We can't wait to come back and thank you again to everyone at Tyber's for a wonderful birthday!

We had a great Sunday lunch here and the service is excellent.

Music with the dj was great, the guest band stoked up the atmosphere rounded off with some great music.

Overall stars 1 Food rating NO Stars, this restaurant was chosen as a place to celebrate a birthday, our party consisted of different races. Everyone one ordered something different from the Menu, I ordered jerk chicken rice n peas and Mac n cheese, my husband ordered curry goat and rice and peas. We ordered a pina colda. So the food first and foremost was not Caribbean at all, the so called jerk chicken was an unseasoned breast of chicken that was grilled on what seems to be a George Foreman grill there was no scent or flavour of Jerk at all, the gravy was made from a watery consistency of bisto gravy no spice no pepper no ketchup to even try and make it seem like jerk sauce. As for the rice it was flavourless and tasted watery. My pina colda was not a pina colada at all it was just ice some in house rum which had a bitter taste and so coconut shavings and some type of cream, the drink tasted like water it was horrible, I asked the staff member to add some rum and she did but again it was a cheap in house rum and the drink was bitter and undrinkable. Curry goat- this was again not authentic it was fatty bones in a thick thick sauce which tasted of only curry powder absolutely horrible, the rice was the same as mine watery and tasteless. As for the others that ordered 4 plates went back and changed for some thing different, the jerk burger was not like real meat at all Remember I did say there was a mixture of races so this review is not coming from a black person who is use to flavoured food no one on the table enjoyed the food, no one. Please note I hate leaving reviews as I am a business owner and I know I wouldn’t like a bad review but I go up and beyond to make sure the products I make are top notch every time, but I feel like I am and can only be honest and in the hope that this place re thinks it’s menu and chef, if your going to run a Caribbean restaurant get a chef that can cook Caribbean like a Caribbean as it’s not fair for paying customers to come and waste their time and money as many of us came all the way from London. Staff the staff were nice but some didn’t really know what to do, our drinks were brought to us with her hand at the drinking rim of the glass which I thought was unhygienic. Atmosphere- for a reggea bar I found the music they played wasn’t what I would call real reggea music it was the type of reggea that made it on top of the pops back in the day, music that everyone knew the lyrics to, which I thought was a bit silly, having a reggea bar is about introducing all reggea music to people not the same repeated music. Me personally I think if I was to run this entire place I would have people coming from all over the world for the food and music experience. Don’t get me wrong the vibes was good people were dancing and drinking but again it seemed like locals that want to have a drink sing and dance oppose to people coming to listen to and love real reggae music and food. Such a shame as this place is owned by an old reggae band by it does not represent reggae at all. I do hope the manager takes what I have said as positive criticism as this place could be made so so much better

The whole place is fantastic just like Tyber, the Caribbean Burger was out of this world the music was brilliant, Mark Antony and Isaac, the decor the staff absolutely everything is well worth a visit

Had a lovely meal tonight, food and service were brilliant. We sat downstairs but could still hear the great music from the upstairs bar, which took us back to our younger days.Would highly recommend.

Lovely pub and great live events, good beverages and fantastic staff and visitors. Missed Tyber‘s show as was sold out but will be back to see him. Nice Dualers merch can be bought at the bar

Came down from Essex had a great time at Tybers last night food was good and then cocktails and Ska N Mash excellent DJing with all my favorite choons 👌

Paid £15 for a cocktail made of 95% coke and 3% spirit. 2% ice. Not worth the cocktails. Even asked why it was so weak and the bar tender was happy to rob me. Save your dimes and get a £3 pint.

Went for a Skatonics gig. Great little bar! Need to sort out the heat regulation though as everyone was SWEATING haha. But overall a lovely place with great atmosphere and friendly staff.

We had a fantastic night at the bar and even met the man himself! Definitely going to go back as a regular.

Don’t waste your money, apparently some old granny’s recipes book which was found, should have been buried with her! The food is bland & tasteless, curry goat….. more like curried lamb out of a can! Scottish server women was rude on the phone said she thought I had covid and that’s why I couldn’t taste the food, I wish I had covid so I couldn’t. Soulless food, if you are trying Caribbean food for the first time here, you won’t want to try it again. Do your self a favour and go to New Cross or Lewisham in south london and follow your nose to a soul food shop and you won’t be disappointed! Also I threw a bit of “goat” to my dog and the dog didn’t even eat it!

Went down for the Sunday roast. We had the beef, pork and chicken. Was beautiful. Will definitely be back. Staff was friendly and very welcoming.

Tybers just started Sunday lunch and was excellent food was freshly cooked more than we could eat and the 100% value for money traditional Sunday roast and even tho we were to full for pudding we ordered them to take home lovely Sunday afternoon

Travelled up from Dover with friends for the evening on my Birthday. Double Barrel were the band playing. It was busy but not packed and everyone was having a great time. The staff were amazing and so friendly, from the door staff to the bar staff. We had food & drinks and whilst the food did take an age to come out (I think they forgot about us) it was good quality. After a few pints of Red Stripe I personally had plenty of cocktails and shots which were all excellent. The live music was superb, the DJ was superb, the whole vibe in the place was superb. I cannot recommend this place enough and at 1am left with a big smile on my face. Best birthday night out in a very long time. WIll be having plenty of nights out here in the future, just wish I lived a bit closer.

Family had a fantastic meal here 5th Oct. The food was out of this world. We had to thank Chef Mike personally as every dish was faultless. I had the Caribbean Burger and it was so juicy, cooked to perfection. An absolute must to visit to try authentic Caribbean cuisine. Can't wait for them to start up takeaway and delivery service. Jax and all the staff deserve credit. What a venue. 5*

Absolutely fantastic bar, we have been all over to see The Dualers and think their amazing 🤩tried the Caribbean jerk pork earlier and it was delicious! We also washed it down with a Pina Colada which was exemplary. The staff are extremely helpful and welcoming also. Cannot recommend enough! 😎

Awesome place to drink n chat n try new things

We came down from Bristol for " It's a Wonderful Life Festival " We had lots of cocktails which were all fantastic. Me and my husband are cocktail Fans and we loved everyone - We also had some snacks that were just perfectly cooked . Tyber came up to us to speak and was just genuinely the most nicest bloke you could meet . His staff were all fantastic, particularly the lady with blonde hair on the door -was absolutely lovely . We met Mark and his wife (tyber best friend) Who was just so so lovely. Everyone there just made us feel so welcome - we will be back ... Thank you Tyber , all Tyber's friends , family and Staff for a unforgettable best weekend .... xxx

Amazing day & night at tybers reggae bar, first time & will be going again

Had another fabulous visit to Tybers for the bank holiday weekend festival. This bar cannot be faulted. The drinks are very reasonably priced. We love the music there but that is not what makes it special, it is the staff who work so hard to make any customers visit special. For the first time we tried the food and it was delicious, we will definitely be having it on future visits.

Went to the family day at Tybers and it was really good. Really impressed with everyone that works there. Even though it was really busy everyone was still cheerful and helpful. It was great meeting Tyber and Pete. They were brilliant interacting with the children. I think the two team members in the restaurant were fantastic there was a young man and a young women sorry didn’t get their names. When there was a problem with someone’s food the young man sorted dealt with it and I was really impressed. They also organised the face painting que and the children brilliantly. The BBQ was a great touch can’t wait for the next one. Keep up the great work.

Fantastic food excellent service always with a smile ...look out for the goat curry ... waitress recommended dishes including one for my vegetarian friend ..then upstairs to enjoy great reggae music .. warm friendly atmosphere...

Having seen the dualers a few times was excited to get tickets for the Tyber and Pete night . It was fantastic ..loved it and the bar ..atmosphere was amazing as all followers ..would certainly recommend .Was nt so keen on our food that we had downstairs in the restaurant but still enjoyed our meal time as met up with people we had met earlier in the Bar so all good fun . Had travelled a couple of hours and booked overnight hotel opposite ….a great 24 hrs ..loved it and hope to return 😊

Excellent night with Tyber and Pete, entrance was ticket only and tickets sold out but I was pleasantly pleased that it was not overcrowded, therefore they are definitely not overselling tickets. Great atmosphere, good food and music amazing. I will definitely be returning, met some lovely people and Tyber ☺️

We went to see Tyber and Pete on Wednesday 26 July which was fantastic and well worth every penny. We went to dinner before hand in the on-site restaurant and the food was great. Even though it was really busy the gentleman that served us was still very helpful and was very attentive amd brilliant at his job. We have booked for the bank holiday and can’t wait.

We went to Tybers on Sunday afternoon for lunch with some friends and all I can say is the food was lovely the atmosphere was electric. The man that served us in the restaurant was so friendly and was correct with his food recommendations. He is a real asset to you. We have already booked to come back.

Went into Tybers for the live Dj on Friday night and had dinner before we went upstairs. The food was amazing and very tasty the young man what served us was very friendly and nothing was to much trouble. Sorry I didn’t get his name he said he had not been there that long. But where ever he was before is definitely Tybers gain. He was brilliant. Could not recommend this place enough.

Visited on Saturday lunch time. Bar staff were so friendly and kind. The chef went out of his way to ensure my husband's vegan meal was suitable. The food was delicious and excellent value. We want to visit again for an evening out to see some music. Thank you for a great lunch.

An amazing place to visit in Tunbridge Wells. Great atmosphere imbued with the spirit of the Caribbean. Friendly stuff, nice cocktails, delicious food, portions are generous! Incredible music for connoisseurs of reggae. I would highly recommend this bar to visit.

Wow what a place we went for the live band and it was the best night. We ate in the restaurant before we went up stairs and the staff were so friendly and the food was amazing. Booked for another band next week. Can’t wait

Firstly the service was astonishing, staff was standing at the bar moaning about another member of staff, the food is not authentic Jamaican Carabian Food, the chef is Romanian, who was vaping in the kitchen, the rice was soggy and watery, the chicken and sauce was very watery. The salad and plantain was made to perfection. Rice and peas and chicken absolutely disgusting… I stood at the bar and ordered a cheery something cocktail, I was expecting a cocktail considering the price, they chucked a coke glass on the bar, poured Fanta fruit twist, added ice to the glass, cherry syrup and a tiny touch of alcohol. 15 seconds later and it’s done. I stood there in shock…

Staying in the hotel opposite I was kept awake way past sociable hours by the awful music. Such a disrespectful establishment

Went there for a live reggae and ska night - had the most fun!

Don’t eat here if you value your health. The ‘goat’ (or lamb?) contains sharp splinters of bone. The possibility of bone shards is not stated on the menu so be warned. According to the manager with superior attitude this is how Jamaicans cook their food and was to be expected…. No reason to put a warning on the menu.

Great service excellent food highly recommended food

Some may claim some bias to my review, as I sometimes DJ at this venue, but I believe it deserves a review as everyone I've chatted to give the venue and restaurant glowing praise. The fact the restaurant was fully booked is a good indication. Once again I chose the curried goat and I asked if the chef could make it a little hotter (I'm a chilli head), which he did and on this occasion the meat just fell off the bones. The restaurant definitely gets my recommendation, but upstairs is where the bands and DJs play. I absolutely love the decor here, the old posters, Dualers history and the layout. And I have always found the staff full of smiles. On the occasions that Tyber (from the Dualers) has visited, sometimes along with his family, the atmosphere has been electric, and he's often made time to talk to the customers and grab a few selfies. It's a little bit of Jamaica brought to Tunbridge Wells.

Friendly staff & solid happy hour deal on drinks. Drinks were not great though so I would have been disappointed to pay full price for them.

This is the 4th time I've had the pleasure of eating at Tyber's Reggae Bar and each time I've enjoyed the food. Previously I've had curried goat and on one occasion the Halloumi panini - both nicely served and delicious. The encona hot sauce is...

Family of ten including four little ones, staff couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. Food was great and plentiful. Cocktails just fabulous. We will be back.

Today came to tybers bar with a few girls from work ...wow definitely recommend Borth the food quality , portion sizes and service ..jax the manager is warm friendly .. if in the area definitely worth a visit ..both for food and music

Top bar . Spent a small amount of time in the roof terrace on a hot sunny May Day . Didn’t get the chance to sample the cocktails sadly but I would love to here . Has great atmosphere , it’s built on three levels...

So let me just get this right, all them customer's that left you a bad review. I sent them to Tyber's bar and they did not experience bad service. Guy was not served raw chicken, and you serve up lamb and pretend it's goat. That never happened, he just made it up. Another customer did not get dry chicken and you was not rude to anybody 😅 you did not take an order on the phone and told them to come in, after an hour driving when he got there, you he told him you're not doing it. They just made all of this up ??? all these customers are liars and they all know me 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👍 at Some stage somebody will see sense and you will have to take responsibility. Come Tyber wake up, consistency reviews speak for themselves !!!!!

Called them up to ask if they do takeaway - they said yes - then called to put an order in and was told to come in with the order - sent our son on a 20 minute journey (was longer due to road closures) only to arrive and be told they don't do takeaway - when we called back to complain about it, given some story about not putting our food in boxes without so much of a sniff of an apology and a whole load of attitude. Ps to be clear, the above happened and I have no idea who the owner is referring to in their rant but Google can ask me to verify if they want

Went to a reggae bar to get reggae food and ended up getting offered a jacket potato or lasagne. Asked to speak to the manager who was full of attitude. Definitely will not be returning

What a nightmare Place was busy on a Friday night Waited to be served with no problems and put in our order of curry goat rice and peas. Side dish of jerk chicken wings for the table. Let’s start with the jerk chicken wings- disgusting and undercooked with a drizzle of BBQ sauce- sent back and agreed not cooked properly and told would be removed from bill Next came the curry goat - this was mutton stew with some spice added that tasted weak! Complained to the waitress who introduced me to some scary looking manager/owner who then tried to tell me it’s authentic food ha ha ha It was so bad and the justification for this diabolical food being it’s been tamed down for a white audience as we couldn’t take the heat! Refused to pay our bill but left a £20 note on the bar for our drinks This business doesn’t care about the food or the customers so please avoid at all costs If you want authentic and edible food it won’t be found here

A great venue. Brilliant music with bands or vynal night. The place has a friendly atmosphere, the staff are great. Food and drink prices are reasonable. If you love soul, reggae or motown this is the place to be.

Lovely cocktails. Excellent roast dinner, ate everything on the plate.

WHAT CAN I SAY BEST PLACE IN TWELLS FOR COCKTAILS. DAN THE BARMAN WAS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING SO WELCOMING AND FRIENDLY WAS SO WELCOMING. WOULD DEFO COME BACK DUE TO THE WARM WELCOME WE RECEIVED FROM DAN THE BARMAN HE IS SOOOOO LOVELY. Thanks guys was amazing.
