A one star review may seem somewhat mean, but in this case it is not. We travelled for nearly three hours to get to Rhayadar for a few days away. We love Wales and my wife's brother lives in the town. We arrived on Monday early afternoon and as we entered the town saw a car parking space outside Ty Morgans so stopped for a cup of coffee and something to eat. I opened the door and approached the counter. I was 'greeted' with a silent stare by one of the bar staff who was cleaning a glass. It was a bit like a western movie when the piano stops playing as the bad guy enters the bar... I politely asked 'are you open?'- which was a silly question as quite clearly it was open- the door was not locked, the lights were on, and their was no sign saying closed. The lady simply starred back at me unsmiling and said, 'YES'. Welcome to Rhayadar. I'm not easily offended but I wouldn't have spoken to a dog that way. As we left three young guys also entered and were told the same. They left and looked equally unimpressed. The owners of Ty Morgans need to train their staff on a few matters. 1) When you are closed, turn off most of the lights and lock the door. 2) Display a sign saying 'Closed' 3) In you event of forgetting to do 1) or 2) and someone enters the establishment wanted to spend money then train your staff to at least treat the potential customer with respect and not like something they've trod on the sole of their shoe. Thankfully there was a lovely cafe opposite with polite, helpful staff who served us coffee and lovely food. They will be getting a 5 star review from us 👍

Rooms are quite ok for the price. a clean ladie from the pub who done our check-in was super friendly. The only issue with the room was that we could hear everything from the pub. Thank God they close quite early , unfortunately, we stayed over the weekend and was a bit noisy on the streets because the hotel is quite old building we been wake uk several times during the night. Same in the very early morning with the delivery van. Restaurant is a great, beautiful interior , and there are great options for breakfast . Most of the stuff was super friendly. Breakfast delicious.

Hi everyone would like to share experience of staying in this hotel. First , arrive here noone here and this was 7pm, have to go to another hotel to take this keys, then need to go find where to eat, second: I go take a shower, lowest pressure ever seen in the shower and finally went to the bed and the mattress is like you sleeping without, like you sleeping on top of timber. My opinion need avoid this one and book next to the road with same price. (Maybe is just this room, but never again) thanks for reading

Asked if it's possible to have the breakfast served vegan. “Vegan???” the woman behind the till exclaims as if I’d just sworn at her. As the breakfast can be chosen with different options I was hoping to get hash browns, beans, toast, tomatoes and mushrooms so asked if it’s possible to have them vegan i.e. not cooked in butter or served with butter. She said well the hash browns are cooked in fryers with meat, I said that's fine, she said the mushrooms are cooked in butter I asked would it be ok to cook the mushrooms in oil she complained the chef would have to empty the pans, she then said it would be an hour and a half wait - with no other option as the lost arc was shut and we were with 4 people we had to just put the order through. It was all quite rude and patronising - I’ve never been spoken to like that ever in a restaurant before. The other non vegan members of our table said they were told it’s only a 30 minute wait not over an hour like they told us. In the end the food arrived at the same time but was all a bit rude and unnecessary - probably just trying to make us turn around and leave. In hindsight I wouldn’t go here again as a vegan - whatever you think of my dietary choice there’s no need for rudeness and it's standard in restaurants to accommodate different diets today - don't know why it was so difficult for you. The Lost Arc and other places nearby are much more friendly, accommodating and better vegan options. Would recommend going there instead.

Most times when I visit Rhayader I call in Ty's for breakfast of coffee and cake. I have also stayed in the past. Always good service and amazing cake selection. Some constructive criticism coming now. Crushed avocado with poached eggs... wonderfully poached eggs, perfection, but avocado just chopped up (including some dark bits that personally I would remove) not crushed and all, placed on top of one piece of toast with the other toast underneath.. that seems a bit odd. Divided between the toasts I feel would be better. Did not complain as it detracts from my breakfast experience and the meal was essentially good.

Very poor quality food and the collection service is terrible. We were left waiting 1 hour AFTER the advised collection time. Chicken was tough and tasteless and the rest of the dishes were dripping in grease. Items missing off the order too. This is 2024, how hard is it to get Indian takeaway as right? This sort of establishment would not survive in a big town or city.

Had a lovely delivery today delivered by Ash from the Brecon Tandoori. Both myself and wife had our Madras. First time we’ve ordered and certainly won’t be our last. I’d recommend more “Dishes” but list had limit options.
