Stopped in for lunch on a recommendation. Really nice atmosphere, clean and well attentive staff. Tables are well spaced so you don't feel you are rating on top of other tables. Varied lunch menu and a great selection of cakes. Food was lovely and good value, definitely be back here.

Visited The Tweedie for an afternoon snack on Sunday 7 Jan 24. As always the service was excellent and the food wholesome. This lovely cafe deserves a good rating because it produces excellent food at a reasonable price and it had the added bonus of having lots of nice items should you be looking for a present for someone.

A dream visit to the Mecca of Soup, Fettercairn was oddly closed, appeared to be people inside, but only opens Thurs-Sat. So off to the Tweedie it was, seated easily and onto the food. Chicken mayo sandwich accompanying a fine piping hot Lentil soup. Tremendous presentation. The pudding. Was my maiden dish from home economics, Upside down pineapple sponge. Better than my effort from 1979. A great visit and left with a very full stomach

This used to be a nice little tearoom to visit However on a number of occasions in the past several months when we visited it did not feel in the least welcoming, service was not good, and what astounded us on one occasion is that we were charged £9 for a plate of stovies, which was unacceptably way over priced for what it was

We called in here on our way from Edinburgh to Banchory, we just fancied a drink and to stretch our legs and this lovely little tea room was brilliant. We were a party of 3 adults and 1 child. It was quite busy but we were soon sitting down and our orders taken. We all had either hot chocolate (wonderful) or tea then we saw the delicious cakes. Wow, they looked amazing and we couldn't resist. They tasted as good as they looked. We will definitely return here if we are in this area again as we were name to feel so welcome.

Had visited lovely Edzell Castle where the lady custodian suggested we stop here for a cuppa....and glad we did. It was a very pleasant visit and we enjoyed a meander through the well-stocked shop first.Found the eating-area to be quite genteel and old-world, but in a good way.Added to the country charm. Was enticed by a piece of the Tweedy special, which I was told was made with tomato-soup - but of course you'd never know. It was very moist and for all the world was like a ginger/cinnamon cake. Sister has a gluten intolerance so she opted for a wheat-free crumbly biscuit which she said was tasty.Coffees/teas were very refreshing and staff were very pleasant too. Prices seemed very reasonable and hope to return for something more substantial next time.

Went here today with my mum and child. My child has multiple food allergies and I made the waitress aware of this. She didn't seem to know what the ham contained but after seeing some on someone else's plate I took the chance it was suitable, plain baked potato with ham was order for my child. I had the soup (lentil) and it was lovely, my mum had a panini and finished the lot so it must have been good too! I did notice on the menu board after our order was taken that gluten free bread was available, I had said this was one of my child's allergies but it wasn't mentioned. A little disappointed with that but honestly, he can have only a few different brands of gluten free bread due to multiple allergies, that it is entirely possibly that this is the reason it wasn't mentioned to me. We went it during a very busy spell but only had to wait a few minutes for a table. The staff were lovely and the older woman (older than the teenagers, nor old!) who I assumed was the owner, was extremely friendly and did apologise a few times for the extra long wait (we didn't wait a silly amount of time and could see everyone was very busy so didn't mind). This was my second trip. My first was late last year where the staff were very knowledgeable on allergies and my child had the tattle soup which was suitable for him (and delicious). The twice I've visited I've found it to be very homely and the food reminds me of my grans! I wouldn't think twice about returning!

The view from the dining room was lovely and the staff were super friendly and welcoming, unfortunately, the food was not great. The lasagne tasted like a poor-quality frozen ready meal and the mac 'n' cheese was not very nice. The chips were good, though. Unfortunately, for several days afterwards I had an upset stomach. Apparently, due to staff shortages, their menu was reduced and maybe they didn't have the qualified staff who usually prepare the food. Maybe we were just unfortunate and did not sample their food at its best.

Good fresh food, although the menu isn't very varied if your looking for lunch It's in a lovely setting and there's a small play park for children. Dogs are allowed and well catered for. There's plenty parking but this is where I felt badly let down. There is no allocated disabled parking! There was a challenging walk on my crutches from the carpark to the cafe as the surface isn't very wheelchair friendly. With the space available in sure there is an easy remedy and I'm sure we'll come back for more of the good food and see if they resolve the parking for the disabled.

I've visited this cafe many times as we stayed outside Alyth numerous times throughout the year and more so when my sisters cancer was terminal. The reason I'm back today is to visit where their ashes were scattered as both my mom and sister are scattered here together. (We live in Wales) I would agree with many other reviews on here that this is not the friendliest cafe considering how lovely it is. I will point out that most times when the younger girls serve, they're very pleasant. I was here on Monday for tea and cake and the young blonde lady serving was absolute lovely and gave me the WiFi password, as I've also had on previous trips when I've asked. Nothing worse sitting on your own, Billy no mates and can't use your phone. Today I'm stretching and getting signal on and off. Anyhow, I came In today, Wednesday 16 October, no hello.. nothing. Sat down and rude woman appeared with pen and notepad..no hello.. just are you ready to order or do you need another minute? No smile, no pleasantries. I ordered I then went up to look for the password only for her to tell me there isn't one.. you can't have WiFi as we don't have it. I said it's showing up .. and I got it on Monday. No you didn't as we don't give it out... if everyone uses it our tills don't work.. Really ??? 🤔🤔😶🌫️ I said once again I got it on Monday. - no you didn't !! OK.. seemingly I'm a liar now 🙄🙄😔 Honestly I doubt I'll be back here as clearly the same woman, older, glasses and not a scottish accent I don't believe, Blue in her hair this time. You'd think after many complaints they'd do something about this.. unless she's the actual owner.. which sadly I hope not.. She does not make visiting conditions pleasant .
