Turquoise Kitchen in Hackney

My wife and I were going to a concert nearby and decided to have lunch at this restaurant first. The older waitress who greeted us was polite and took us to a table and we got a menu but no wine list. I ordered moussaka and my wife mediterranean lamb in aubergine - I heard her say so. The waitress (a younger one) returned eventually with my correct order but chicken in aubergine for my wife, who said it was the wrong meal. The girl told her quite rudely she had ordered chicken and continued to argue about it even though I said I heard my wife ask for lamb. My wife was forced to eat the chicken, which was tasteless, as was my meal which shortly gave me a stomach upset which caused me to leave the concert. I have never had a Turkish meal that did not give a salad too. We complained to a male waiter (manager ?) who only knocked the price of my dessert off the bill - it had a hair in it just to complete a very unpleasant waste of time and money.

The food was very good. Great hummus and generally wonderful starters. The chicken and lamb very tender and a good selection of dishes. The only criticism, and this was shared by the whole group, was the sulky waitress, barely polite. It spoiled the evening for us. Surely this should not happen and should be addressed by the restaurant.

My friend suggested Wednesday lunch here. I had eaten here many times before it became Turquoise. We sat near the entrance over looking Pond Square. My friend had chicken wings and I had moussaka. Good red house wine. Plenty of extra delights- to bring home. Then we had baklava, Turkish rice pudding and ice cream. The staff were lovely. Great venue for Mediterranean food in Highgate village. We tried the warm appetisers and a meat platter, with some baba ganoush, hummus and a bottle of Malbec. Service was excellent too. Well done.

Fabulous fresh food. Have been here twice whilst staying in the area and planning a third visit. Both times our food has been fresh and extremely tasty. The service was excellent.

We have used this great restaurant many times, Salads are always fresh, lamb and prawns are so well cooked. Really good value for money and always good. Nice atmosphere and good service.

Excellent staff and food , meditation menu. Nice ambiance inside and out , dishes were well presented and delicious,would have no difficulty in recommending and would go again, maybe next time for supper

Food is brilliant and acceptable for the price nothing to say than well done to.the chefs, when it comes to the service 0, no smile , no thank you no interaction at all excepting an old person who was always smiling and he was doing cutlery , I think you guys should put the young ones to that and leave the other person to take care of the service

Amazing food and service. Good value and quality food. Thoroughly enjoyed the birthday lunch. We would definitely visit again and fully recommend if one is looking for a quality meditarrenean restaurant.

Looked popular, always a good sign , so we sat outside and enjoyed a very good but expensive smoothie while we waited for our meals. Not speedy which suggests freshly prepared so happy to wait. Both meals delicious and served by a lovely friendly young girl. The chicken was cooked to perfection, and the salad had enough dressing to add interest.

Had a low key dinner in this very nice restaurant /cafe bang in middle of posh Highgate . As weather permitted we sat outside in the enclosed roofless area . Wouldn’t describe it as a garden but still nice to look up at stars . Food was delish and service I can’t fault . Being Highgate you pay Highgate prices !

I was keen to try this relatively new restaurant, as I have been to Turkey in the past and enjoy the cuisine. Unfortunately the food is overpriced and fairly unexciting. We had two meat kebabs which cost £20 each. The portions were measly for that price and the taste were fairly bland. Similarly, the starters were quite uninteresting.

I accompanied a friend to this restaurant, which I describe as 'Turkish plus', because in addition to the usual expected Turkish fare, there is a range of dishes to be found on the menu of less themed restaurants and cafés: breakfast dishes ranging from eggs prepared in various ways to full English breakfast. There is thus a full and varied menu, which should satisfy most guests. My friend had a vegetarian Moussaka, while I enjoyed chicken Shish. Service was prompt and attentive, and the food presented in an attractive way. I hope to go again.
