Excellent pub, great selection of beers, wonderful friendly staff, and fantastic food.

A real fire. A great selection of real ales. Friendly staff and good service. Wonderful food. I recommend the Sunday roast. And it's my local. It well deserves its good reputation.

Our new local and I highly recommend! Amazing choice of craft beer and ciders and very friendly staff too. We had the rump steak sharing skewers, which were really tasty and tender. The skewers came on a bed salt and pepper chips that were honestly the nicest salt and pepper chips I've ever had. It also had a garlic pitta accompanying it to dip in what we think were raiti/yoghurt and Thousand Island dips. Reasonably priced too for what we got, £25. The beer battered onion rings on the photo were what we ordered extra, and they were sublime!

Absolutely brilliant place to eat. Food is always good. Bar staff very friendly. Good atmosphere

Sorry was not really good the chips was overcooked very dark nearly black and my friends fish was also overcooked

Great place for live music at weekends normally and have a good selection of craft beers which they charge regularly

Lovely little pub has burger deals on a monday and tuesday with the Cowley Grill opposite. Good selection of ales and friendly staff. Get yourself a loyalty card because you will be going back.

Great home-made food and lots of craft beers to choose from some good IPAs .Really lovely staff aswell 🍻....

Can't fault the alcohol selection but the food is disgusting now since old chef left. All tinned veg and inconsistent standards majority of staff treat the place like an extension of their social life. Mandy is the only professional there. If you not in their every day are not served. Place is filthy floor is black and it stinks. Never see anyone cleaning the tables after use. Dogs allowed in and run rampant. Staff are rude and have no idea of customer service some need sacking because of their attitude and inability to cope.

Cracking real ale pub on outskirts of town. Vast selection of beer and has a lively atmosphere. Couldn’t take many pics as it was rammed!! They do tons of ale if you tried them all in one sitting you’d be on your rear. Good service as it needs to be they work hard behind the bar!! Highly recommend for an ale session if in the town! Dog friendly and serves food.🏉 🍻 🐕 🥘

What a great experience to visit this pub. I can't recommend more highly. Food is good value as well. Look out for the special nights. Atmosphere inside is excellent and they have also updated the outside area. This is a CAMRA award winning pub with a great selection of beers.

I was double charged for drinks.. apparently the till was at fault? this is the second time this has happened, I am not a regular but do drop in occasionally, check what the bill is before paying as they do not accept cash.

Keep an eye on your receipt as I was double charged apparently the till is faulty, I must be unlucky as this was the second time this has happened, if you're an occasional visitor be aware as that till is gonna get yer.

Had another great evening in this friendly pub. Food is great and bar staff are always helpful and go the extra mile to make you feel welcome. Highly recommended 🙂

Been on a day trip to York. With this pub never again, they did not do a head a count on the coach so they left one member of the party at the services after we told them not everyone was not back we was on the phone trying to get them back to the coach the landlord and his wife told the drive to leave him behind bad customer care sorry no care

Had Chicken curry. With very little chicken. Very poor. Told staff. No apology.

We visited for the first time yesterday. I had the fish and chips, the fish was beautiful in a light and crispy batter with homemade chips and tartar sauce. My daughter had the tower burger which she really enjoyed. I would recommend this lovely pub.

This place is fantastic a lovely little pub, great service and a fantastic atmosphere warm and welcoming. The food is definitely 5⭐ clean fresh and well prepared There is only 1 thing that I myself was not happy with and that was they don't take cash but that is my own personal preference

Sunday 15th Sept 24, my wife and I have just had Sunday dinner, served cold, very disappointed, staff member says I should have said and they would have warmed it up, I think it should have come warm in the first place.

Great beers and atmosphere. Serving pizzas at the moment which sell well. Tried the garlic bread yes which was nice but maybe a little too much butter.

Drinks are great, food fabulous, atmosphere brill!! - well worth going & having a good time xx

Not been here for a long time and was disappointed, £23.95 for lamb henry, overdone on the outside, veg and mash lukewarm, overpriced for what it was, wouldn't rush back

Come quite often food and drink very good usually, but had the specials steak pudding chips and peas very dissapointed. Was hungry so ate most before I realised the suet pudding wS as hard as rock. Its a shame staff did not offer any compensation as I had to leave almost all the " suet"

Lived n st helens all my life. Only ever been in this pub for pool and a drink. Lots of people reccomened me and my wife go for food. So today we did. Never again not very friendly. Food is very oily and greasy. Definitely not home cooked. Very disappointed.

Absolute banging food. Nicest pub food around. All the pubs in st helens tend to be green king mostly so it's nice to have this pub sell actual beautiful pub food instead of the rubbish microwaveable rubbish green king sell Absolute asset to st helens this pub.

One portion of chips completely overdone and the other completely undercooked. Sausages burnt and garlic bread horrendous a waste of £30 will not be returning

We went for something to eat, and both the service and food was incredible. A fantastic specials board and decent portions at decent prices. We went to the outdoor area across the road, which was amazing, and there are loads of different events throughout the week in the evening.

Fabulous place, with great and attentive staff. Huge selection of ales, with friendly and attentive staff. Only thing of note is that it only accepts card at the bar.

Brilliant pub, my absolutely favourite to go. Always a nice atmosphere and welcoming from both staff and customers. Variety of beers, gins, ciders and so on. Food is really hearty and can tell its proper "homemade". Dog friendly so we always take ours in and they can get doggy dinners and dog beer / wine!

A friend had recommended this pub if I ever visited St.Helens again. I'm so glad he did ! What a gem ! Friendly bar staff, really interesting decor, and great real ale . It was a glorious sunny day when we visited and we made use of the beer garden of its sister pub the Cowley Vaults. Great food from both.

I had the minted lamb burger, my friend had the fish and chips, another friend had the Turks Head Tower. All the food was piping hot and delicious. Highly recommend.

Superb real ale pub. A pub like pubs used to be!!! Friendly, comfortable. Great experience and one I won't hesitate to repeat of in the area.

After years of frequenting The Turks Head, and after a delicious evening meal, it was spoiled by a group of would like to say young females who were very abusive at the bar, told my friend to go home he was drunk plus other aggressive language, which he was clearly not. We were not impressed by the manageress who when spoken to dismissed it. My argument would be, would she have dismissed it if he would have been confrontational and aggressive to females. I think not. Very disapointed.

Wow visited for the first time today, outstanding food and the staff are brilliant, better than most restaurants in st Helens 👍🏻

Brilliant place! Fourteen real ales!!! Staff really helpful and tasters available. Lovely pub. Didn't eat but food looked good too. Visited again April 2024, just as good as last time - had excellent bar food. Well worth a visit - real ales were outstanding

Always eat in the Turks but have out done themselves, absolutely amazing food

I ordered a sunday roast from the Turks head. it was amazing fantastic portion size and quality. it was very hot and was enough in my opinion to feed 2 people. it did arrive earlier than expected. but that was just a bonus. would highly recommend people to try it. I will certainly be ordering again

Double Gin promo taken off pint of lager and double gin that was £11 something now £15.30 dont think so will eat and drink elsewhere used my loyalty points up tonight to use up can you imagine if they doubled the price of real ale dont think so. see you when prices are comparible to the rest of town and not London. Actually paid less in London for same round not a back street pub in St Helens

Food was amazing but did need warming up a bit. I’d have preferred gravy in a pot separately rather than poured over but no big deal. Once again, did not disappoint. I love the food here.

First time today at the Turks head. First impressions seemed well. Unfortunately rude staff and long waits let it down. Not to mention the chefs carrying food over the road form the neighbouring pub! I would advise anyone to consider going here!

Gets rated one of the best pubs in St Helens for a reason. Some say could be cheaper but, also, u get what u pay for! Good food and good beer. Great place 👌

##Updated review## Not been for a good while and was again warmly welcomed as soon as I walked in. Upon bar managers recommendations Had the sirloin steak and with peppercorn sauce. Absolutely cooked too perfection and staff were extremely attentive checking both you and food was good. And it was! Went in with stress levels around ten...came out and they were about 2.. Great food, great atmosphere lovely staff 10/10 from me Thanks guys Oz ___________________________ Hands down best pub I've been too in St Helen's for food and staff are super friendly.. Met up with Family between Christmas & New Year. Lovely, Friendly pub. Was very busy but stil got served quickly by Friendly, professional & knowledgeable staff.

I love love this pub but for me the last 18mths the food has gone so down for prices. 22.95 for a shared platter tiny tiny tiny crock pot of stew (very nice) just so. Tiny for a shared platter. Frozen hard roast meant to be salted potatoes. And to finish off the platter was stale bread. This pub is amazing very friendly girls. However my disabled nice fell up the few stairs as couldn't manage them with her single drink. Not one offer to replace her drink for no charge, and they could see she struggled and had only just walked in. For a pub I love that is aways so busy thought that was a tad wrong one as she was so embarrassed. So for this feel you like taking the money but could go a bit above the standered service. They win awards for. The food is no longer wooow and bit 😝 for the prices your charging. People will cont to still go as you have the neash on the market of the town. This is possibly third time I have eaten and thought sorry no portions have so shrunk and not as nice food. Few years ago food was exceptional. Now I feel hit and miss. Tonight just on me and my niece you got about 100 between us for restaurant prices not even take away quality and size. So so sorry aways leave you 5 stars but this is third time it's been well below prices charged

Roast was nice loads of meat, ordered soup of the day not sure what it was but the taste was awfull it was literally like a bowl of water and onions couldn’t eat it

We live 2 minutes away from Turks. Followed driver on map he went all round the world, didn't seem to have a clue where he was going. On arrival he kept showing his phone to husband, kept him waiting before handing food over. This meant our food was cold, totally blame Just Eat for this.

Lovely traditional pub. Jess is so friendly and looks after the customers well and goes the extra mile to help out. Portions are very generous- we have suggested doing a " Senior/ OAP " menu, as my parents feel awful returning food and are quick to point out the food was lovely, there is just too much. They are frequent visitors and love it !

By far the best takeaway I've ever ordered! Will definitely be ordering again.
