It’s not like I expect to be welcomed with gay abandon, but a hint of friendliness would be nice. Fairly good range of products.

These bunch of narcissists didn't let in someone who was exempt from wearing a mask. Stuff are rude, place is absolutely disgusting. AVOID

Seems like it is true what the locals say about this place. The staff, particularly the man is very rude.

We arrived at this tea room for a breakfast. Breakfast was served up until 12pm. No one was around taking orders so I went up to the till to place an order at 11.55am leaving my partner at the table. A lady then came out from the kitchen to start taking orders from the tables. By the time she got to our table it was then 12.02pm. When asked what we would like to order we ordered the breakfast items. The lady then looked at her watch and said no sorry you can't it's after 12. IT WAS 2 MINUTES PAST AND I HAD BEEN WAITING AT THE TILL FOR 5 MINUTES BECAUSE YOU WEREN'T OUT TAKING ORDERS! I let her know this and she just said no sorry. It seems this rule has been implemented but they act on it with no common sense. Due to how they acted we left and went around the corner to dine elsewhere. They decided to lose out on business and rub customers up the wrong way due to being petty over 2 minutes (when we had been trying to order the whole time). This review was our experience at the Tudor Tea Rooms.

This cafe is situated in the heart of the village, in a picturesque square not far from the waterfront. It is cosy and has a wonderfully friendly service. Above all, the food is expertly homemade and delicious. There are some tasty hot dishes, including many for vegans and vegetarians, lots of excellent salads, sandwiches and baked potato dishes. There is also a fine range of teas and coffees. It’s one if the best places My wife and I have encountered in the area for breakfast and lunch. And it also does delicious cream teas!

The beef and horseradish sandwich on the gourmet plate made a tasty finale to a long walk by the estuary. The salad was crisply fresh and the coleslaw was excellent too.

Visited on a very sunny, Thursday lunchtime and the cafe was surprisingly almost empty. We had sandwiches on wholemeal bread and drinks, and the bill for two of us was under £10 which I think was good value. The thickly cut bread was absolutely delicious and the fillings were extremely generous. Coffee was nice and plenty of milk and sugar was provided. There's free wifi which worked well and an adequate customer toilet. The gentleman who served us could've smiled, or said hello, or said goodbye (he did ask if everything was ok when I went to the till to pay) - maybe he was having an off day? Would visit again (and order the sandwiches).

Five of us called in for cream tea and cakes as part of a diamond wedding celebration. Hard to fault, excellent service, good choice of nice tasty cakes, excellent value, warmed scones, quality jam and clotted ream. Plenty of tea, delicious choice of home made moist cakes. Extra milk when we needed it, very warm friendly people. We have had afternoon tea in many places right up to the stately home high tea but this was just a fantastic experience and we will definately be going back and, if its like this every time, it was the first visit of many to come. Caters for vegan & gluten free although we dont fit those categories!

The food and service are always amazing. The full English breakfast is always extremely filling. It keeps you going all day and, more than that, the sausages, bacon and eggs are all locally sourced and free range. I would highly recommend his place. Great cakes, excellent tea and fine food.

Tea and tea cakes. Delicious. The tea was tea pigs, nice and strong. Good sized tea cakes served with real butter. Excellent service, quick, friendly and efficient. Top marks.

If you want somewhere to pop in for a cup of tea and cake or some lovely home cooked food this is the place to go. There are always several delicious specials on the boards. The portion sizes are perfect for a lunch, and for the price, cannot be beaten! If a slice of cake is all you are after, you will not be disappointed. There is a whole blackboard of them to choose from. Something for everyone.

We went here for brunch whilst visiting Wivenhoe. I'm coeliac so made the waiter aware of this before we ordered. The sausages weren't gluten free (i.e. packed with cheap breadcrumbs) so I ordered the full (ha!) English without sausages or toast. I wasn't offered any alternatives to make up for the lack of sausages. When we came to pay, only £1 was deducted from the £10 breakfast. The staff were quiet to the point of being rude.

Dropped in at 10 o'clock one mid-week morning for a take away coffee and a bun. From the outset, the attitude of the staff was cold and unfriendly. My simple request for an Americano was met with a roll of the eyes and instructions to the chef for a BLACK COFFEE. Sorry, I didn't expect to be confronted by the coffee naming police. And at £2.25 for a paper cup of carry out coffee I won't be back.

Nice to find somewhere quiet for a coffee, cake was a little dry. Worth a return visit to try a light meal.

Highly recommended for not only the varied and wide ranging deli but a cracking spot for a light lunch or a decent coffee and a sweet treat. Situated in the heart of the quay-side quarter of Wivenhoe, just up from the riverside means it's a popular spot for passes-by and locals, so gets busy during peak times. A small, laid-back and casual dining experience operated by a husband and wife team means their customers are made to feel welcome and they certainly deliver very well. I can recommend the "specials board" for something interesting to eat but all menu items are excellent and good value. The attached deli is worth browsing for loads of local and international ingredients. Meat, cheeses, drinks, snacks, bakery, and loads more.

We came here for a coffee and a slice of cake after the poor food at the Rose and Crown, Wivenhoe. The coffee was lovely and the cakes were very tasty. P.S. we were entering the Wivenhoe crab catching contest.....we didn't win but had great fun. There must have been 300 entrants on a very lovely day! Will come back next year or before and certainly to the TUDOR Tea Room!

Been here before but this time was top notch! Had a gourmet'd up meal which came with coleslaw. I'm not big coleslaw fan, would normally pass on it but this was so tasty to point that I would love to go back and order a fresh tub for home. The service there is great too, all friendly and welcoming. Worth the one hour bus ride!!

I love it!! Delicious food, friendly staff and good coffee. They do not sit more than six people, so be aware of that.

We stopped here on a recommendation from a local as a good place for fast service and good food. She was right! The place is old styled and unprepossessing with a small number of tables with one server in front of house and one person (we think) in the back preparing the food. Food was not expensive and seemed to be local and fresh. It was excellent. Choice from a menu card or from specials on a board on the wall.

Our first visit to this little gem but not our last. The menu offers something different to normal cafes with a novel variety of home baked foods with locally supplied ingredients at reasonable prices. No wonder that it is popular at lunch. You need a keen eye to spot it next to the hair dresser and not to be missed deli. Highly recommended.
