Tudor House in Denbighshire

My oat milk late had a very strange taste which I simply couldn't place, when I ordered a late with my lunch today. I was reluctant to complain because although I don't have cow milk, I usually go for almond milk, which was not offered. So I wasn't certain how it was meant to taste. I put sugar in it (which I don't normally take} to try to make it palatable but had to leave half of it. When I got home, I went online and kicked myself because it was quite obvious that the oat milk was bad and the taste I could not identify- because I never expected to be given it, was sourness. The food was unremarkable although perfectly edible. The restaurant was clean but lacked vibrance and the service was somewhat half-hearted. A local resident had recommended it as her 'favourite place' for lunch, so we were disappointed. Unfortunately, we will not be returning.

The worse breakfast I’ve ever had!! Soon as we walked we was greeted by a smell like sweaty old slippers , to which my daughter said smelt like rotten cheese 🤮this put my daughter off eaten so just had a cold drink only . when my breakfast came the presentation wasn’t great at all , and my bacon was well what can I say . still oinking , I asked if it could be cooked a little bit more , to which the lady took away and returned with the bacon still the same but fat burnt . ( I didn’t eat it ) The mushrooms had a VILE taste which taste like the smell from when we walked in , and the sausages were very grizzly . The fried egg was hard not runny . The waiter was like a snail 🐌 Total waste of money, will stick to the other local cafe further down , much more tastier . I give this a 1/ 10

Lovely place brilliant food excellent value. Can't fault it friendly staff good service. Well worth a visit any time of day breakfast or lunch. Afternoon teas good to.

Fish tanks are great, the kids loved them. Tea was leaves but was nice. Strangely the ciabatta we ordered was not toasted but was raw. The menu said it came with chips but there was just some crisps on the side. They charged £9.99 for that, which was very expensive for what you got. Not sure we would go back, there are much nicer and much cheaper.

Excellent food. I had chicken tikka masala, my friends had lasagne and a very substantial brie and cranberry sandwich. There is an interesting aquarium which I failed to notice on my arrival, so sat with my back to it!

A few weeks ago a friend and myself meet for a coffee in Tudor House. While I was waiting for my friend to arrive, a gentleman in his forties, with glasses left some menus . My friend arrived, but we decided, as it was only 10.30am, we would just have 2 coffees. The gentleman returned to take our order and we told him we would just like 2 coffees. He snatched the menus off the table, tutted, turned around and left. My friend and I were speechless by this rude behaviour. It was 10.30am and the cafe was not very busy, with most of the tables unoccupied. We left in a hurry as we did not feel welcome and we certainly will never return to this cafe ever again.

This was our first visit back to Tudor House since March and although we knew Paul (and Ivor) had changed the interior during lockdown we had no idea how it would look. Everything that has been done has been successful, love the new tables!! We had an old favourite of ours, fish and chips, with lovely coffee, as per usual! It was so nice to see Tudor House up and running again with its new, fresh look!

Popped in for lunch while on holiday, just passing by. Would definitely recommend. Lovely friendly service, good quality, tasty, fresh food and generous portions. Didn't have room, but their selection of cakes looked tasty too. Added bonus for us aquatic hobbyists is their fabulous selection of fish tanks dotted around the restaurant, lovely to see such variety in clean and well kept condition.

Another lovely lunch with friends this month at Tudor House, Paul and Ivor always make you feel welcome, and the standard of food and service from their friendly staff is always top notch. A great place to meet for morning coffee, lunch or afternoon tea, and they also hold evening events, with themed evenings serving dinner with several courses. Their outside catering is also of the same high standard.

My friend and I both had fish and chips. We both thought the food was delicious. The fish was huge but not greasy, the chips were tasty but there were too many so we could not finish them. Will be going again.

Nice bread, lovely fillings, Earl Grey leaf tea, delicious coffee, china crockery, melt in the mouth scones and cake, awesome chips as an extra (a must-have). Tables nicely set out. Very pleasant staff. Amazing aquarium tanks. Definitely deserves a return visit or two.

Visited today with a friend and had a lovely cup of coffee served by the excellent staff. The restaurant is very spacious and airy, a nice change from some coffee lounges who pack customers in like sardines. I was particularly pleased to find out that Tudor House is very dog friendly.

The Tudor House is my favourite place to go for lunch.The menu is fantastic for Vegetarians and Vegans, the portion sizes are generous and the prices are fair.Ivor and Paul are very attentive, friendly and polite and I can’t fault anything.Me and my family held and a surprise birthday party for my Mum at The Tudor house and everything from the music to the buffet was fantastic!A real credit to Prestatyn. I’d highly recommend!

Having been in the area on business I called in to treat my son to lunch and try the positive things I had heard. We sat down and was served by a lovely lady who was brilliant. The male chef/owner then came in and spoke to us but was extremely crude towards my 19 year old son making sexual comments towards himWe would not return

We know Tudor House VERY well, eating here VERY often. The new menu suits us, we're working our way through new meals each visit. The fish and chips, fish cakes and hunters chicken are very good. We love the atmosphere in here. Don't quite understand why some folk think differently when we see what goes on most weeks!!!! A mystery!!!

my daughter, granddaughter and I had afternoon tea here yesterday, the price was £9.95 we were served well i say served we had an afternoon tray plonked on the table containing a cheese sandwich and a Tuna sandwich a small victoria sponge which was so dry we couldn't eat them and a scone with a tiny bit of butter, i asked if we could put a candle in one of the little cakes so my granddaughter could sing happy birthday to her mummy i was huffed at then they forgot to do it, when we had finished a very unhappy waitress came and stuck the candle in a cake. I am extremely upset by the whole experience as £25 does not come easy. i will definitely not be returning

Went for lunch with my husband. Sandwiches are a baguette and the panini is this toasted. Food quickly served, good quality, reasonable but not cheap price. Note the comments re staff, we found staff professional and efficient, not especially welcoming but certainly not rude

Went here for a bit of lunch. Place was rather busy but service was good and staff were really polite. The food is slightly higher than normal but you do get value for money.

Called for afternoon tea on Friday afternoon with a voucher my daughter had been given as a gift. We couldn’t have been made more welcome and sandwiches ,scones and cakes were delicious with leaf tea. Very relaxing atmosphere and pleasant staff. Thank you Tudor house.

Came here with my daughter gentleman who was working was rude and very arrogant will not be visiting again can understand why it has no customers

We visited here with my mum who is in a wheelchair firstly they would not let us in as they said they were short of space so decided to sit outside, we asked if my mum could have a cushion to put on the hard chairs the answer was a swift NO all cushions have to remain inside in case we stole it, and was then told by the owner you’ve sat in that chair all day another five minutes won’t hurt and walked away, very rude owners.

Breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, Tudor house is the choice for me. Always encourage my friends to pay a visit to this fascinating eatery. Suitable for families and the bonus is, your dog is included. Yes!

We enjoyed our lunch at Tudor house, the food was fresh and the coffee was nice. Nice enough choice on the menu and lots of delicious looking cakes on display.

I have eaten many times in here and love the atmosphere. The staff are helpful and the food is good quality and well presented. The portion size is good. There were five of us today and the children's meal choices were good and the portion was suitable for them. The staff have a good understanding of the requirements of a gluten free diet and ensure that the food meets them. The fish tanks are amazing and the staff are happy to explain more about them. A great selection of cakes but unfortunately we were too full to enjoy them.

Lovely guys run this place. Well kept and always friendly and accommodating to your needs. Food always cooked fresh and looks as good as it tastes

My family & I recently visited Ty Tudor for afternoon tea. We were not disappointed! The jam & cream scones were delicious,the homemade cake to die for & the sandwiches beautiful. My Mum & Dad loved the aquariums & it made for a wonderful relaxing atmosphere.The service was second to none,the staff are so welcoming, friendly & polite. We will definitely be back.

Tried to have lunch here recently. Sat for at least 5 minutes and had to ask an extremely rude man (owner) for menus to which he virtually threw them on the table. Yes it was very busy but no excuse to be horrible especially to your livelihood!! Another 5 minutes and we'd decided we'd had enough especially when we saw the "ham" on the next table. Looked extremely plasticky. Went to next door establishment and had fantastic service & food (see separate review) . Never again

Funny little place, stuffed with exotic fish tanks and a snooty atmosphere. It’s hard to know what this place is, other than a bit dirty. Part cafe, part down at heel disco, it’s certainly an owners indulgence.

I go there now and again with my Mum who loves it, the food and the cakes are very good and good vaule for money. The man in there treats people like royalty. Well recomended go and treat yourself

For my mother’s 80th birthday I ordered a dairy and gluten free cake, which was fabulous. So pleased with it, tasted lovely and looked a picture, my mother was thrilled.

Having seen the reviews for this place, we decided to visit for cream tea whilst on holiday in Prestatyn.

Absolutely been had over! Me, my 2 sisters, Mum and dad had afternoon tea at Tudor house in Prestatyn for Mother’s Day. We each had 1 or 2 triangle sandwiches, so 1 piece of bread, a scone, 1 cup of either tea or coffee and 1 small glass of prosecco. For that inadequate amount and quality of food and drink it unbelievably cost £100! The more I dwell on it, I’m furious that I didn’t query how the hell they charged £100 for a few sandwiches and cakes that will have cost them about £5 to prepare!!!

Can highly recommend the Tudor House for a bite to eat, having been a few times for lunch we booked to have Mums 99th birthday afternoon tea surprise it was fantastic the salmon and cream cheese sandwiches were delicious there was so much we had to take some of the cake home

Enjoyed a late lunch her before leaving Prestatyn. My Cheese and Tomato sandwich was delicious. Served on soft fresh bloomer with salad, crisps and coleslaw it was just what we needed. Nicely presented and excellent value. Quirky decor and friendly service. Will definitely be back.

Tuve la patata chaqueta con pollo de la coronación, era precioso y fresco y llegó rápidamente. La taza de té se hizo con verdadero té bolsitas y no un sabor delicioso. I went to this restaurant yesterday with a friend. The decor is lovely stylish, the staff are great. As a fussy vegetarian i was pleased to find a variety of dishes. Food was really tasty. I will definately be going again.

Habiendo pasado antes y nunca ido, hoy visitamos. El personal era amable y no agresivo. Tomamos café y desayuno. Pedí frijoles en tostadas, lo que no estaba en el menú, al personal le obligan. Mi marido tenía un panecillo del desayuno, que era fantástica. Volvería de nuevo.

Los precios eran muy razonables con masas de elección era encontrarse con amigos que viven en Prestatyn mientras yo estaba de visita desde Liverpool. Ollas de tulipanes real enorme fuera, decoración estrafalaria y acuarios en el interior. . Pero. . . funciona! Un buen café, no una cadena, sabroso, muy bien presentado sándwiches recién preparados. Todo el mundo parecía estar disfrutando de sus comidas, pero lo que sobresalió fue simplemente cómo muchas personas parecían ser asiduos, y nos trataron tan bien por los propietarios, eran amables, tener una buena con todos y chin menea diversos. . We where looking for somewhere different for a spot of lunch and noticed the distinctive outside of the Tudor house , we have been visiting Prestatyn for nearly 20 years now and where surprised to find the it had been open for 5 years , so in we went to find a very clean place with a very different style !! A cross between Bedouin tent and and pet shop !! We where greeted with a friendly smile and offered a menu . I ordered a ham salad which was very nice and plenty of it and my wife ordered jacket spud with chilli which came with salad, the prices where very reasonable . Well worth a visit

We have visited here on a couple of times and found it a nice place to dine. The menu doesn't have a great deal of options on it but makes up for it in quality and value . The meal tends to take a while to be cooked but this probably due to it being cooked from fresh. The food in here reminds me of a traditional home cooked meal. The service is good and the ambience of the place is nice. Worth dining here.

waited a very long time for the food, ordered a pannini and coffee, when it eventually arrived was surprised it came with under cooked chips, as this was lunch I didn't want or ordered chips, the owner/waiter was very unapproachable, the café is full of fish tanks and very dated décor, will not be going there agai, as there seems to be plenty of other cafe's and restaurants in Prestatyn

A popular eating house conveniently located on the towns high street. A good variety of dishes on the menu,reasonably priced. Pleasant staff, generous portions, food attractively presented. Good meeting place for townsfolk.

Just returned from a lovely Christmas lunch. We had 6 courses and that didn't include the canapés on arrival. The food was well cooked, hot and plentiful. With the meal we had 3 bottles of red wine and beer and when we went to pay the bill I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was included in the price of the meal!The staff were lovely and nothing was too much trouble.So was it good? Well before we left we ordered a buffet for family and friends on Friday and have booked a table for next Christmas

Three course Christmas lunch for £14.95, what's not to like? However, this festive fare exceeded all of our expectations. We all had the most wonderful home-cooked food. The tomato soup was delicious. Seafood terrine gorgeous. Turkey for mains, beef and even the vegetarian option of cheese and leek tart was delicious. Wonderful desserts too. Lemon and meringue. Tiny individual Christmas pudding puddings and the Cheescake was excellent. This is a cafe on the High Street in Prestatyn and they serve wonderful food. Brilliant.

You will not be disappointed eating here. Everything is made to perfection and the owners are brilliant guys.

A family friend ordered the most spectacular birthday cake from Tudor House that was amazing. It had hand crafted sugar doves on and looked too good to eat! Following the amazing cake experience myself and my family took up the opportunity to have afternoon tea at the café. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating - even offering to bring water out for the two small dogs we had with us outside. The food was mouth watering and the cake selection was just as good as anticipated. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here and will definitely be back for more food and cake!!

Great atmosphere - great food! We had Welsh Rarebit and a portion of chips, real tea and fresh coffee, with a slice of home made lemon cake for dessert. All served promptly and efficiency by polite staff.

Had lunch here the service was excellent as was the food. They will adapt the menu to suit you where possible.

We went for an afternoon tea. The food was amazing. The owners were friendly and very welcoming. The place is lovely and clean. Nothing is too much trouble. We are planning a little party here in the next couple of weeks. It is a place worth going. AMAZING

My wife and I gave our lunch order,45 minutes later we asked if there was a problem as we were still waiting, the waiter apologised but he had not put the order into the kichen.The beefburger was of a poor quality served in a cold bun, quite the worst lunch.Needless to say we will never go there again.

Run of the mill restaurant with staple basic foods which are all ok if you like those menus. Tables outside fronting the road. Service friendly but very long wait for food. Beer seems to come out of cans and is inexpertently poured. Reasonably priced food but a few people walked in and straight out again. Busy day in the locality and hot sunshine but restaurant almost empty.

I love going to the Tudor for lunch , Ivor the co-owner is such a joy, friendly, cheeky and warm, the food is good value, good potions and very tasty, my nephew loves to go and watch the fish in the many aquariums around the restaurant. You are always made welcome at the Tudor House

Good food plenty of choice on the menu. Can either have a roast dinner or light snack. Nice cakes too.

It feels so magical!! The amazing tropical aquatics and they allowed my dog in so didn't have to wait outside! Ice cream is also amazing!!

Came here for lunch on Monday, was confused by the decor as we sat and waited to be served and for the food to arrive. The man who served us (we believe to be the chef) was slightly abrupt, and another lady seemed to be working but not doing a great deal. We shared a panini as we weren't overly hungry, and had a drink each, which came to £11/12, more than reasonable. If anything discussing the decor was very interesting as it looks like 3 different rooms put together. Would recommend the mint choc shake however the milk wasn't very cold?

Have visited this beautiful coffee shop many times, excellent service, home made cakes to die for! Irish coffee at its best!

A regular haunt when meeting friends, whether it be lunch or a coffee. A lovely location at the top of the High Street, with a chilled out vibe. A good and varied menu, homemade cakes and a lovely collection of luxurious chocolates. Celebration cakes also made to order and the cafe is available for private functions, and they occasionally hold themed nights too.

I love visiting Tudor House. The decor is interesting and welcoming. There are several stylish fish tanks to gaze at, you are always made to feel welcome, and they make amazing cakes. Chocolate takeaway area too. Always my first choice for coffee when in Prestatyn.

I loved the Steak Pie, hot and tasty. My wife didn't like her burger, she didn't like the smell from the meat. Waiter was very friendly and honest. Aquarium in the restaurant was great!! It gives you really nice atmosphere.

We contacted Paul at Tudor House as they had been recommended by a holiday house we were renting for the weekend 6th May 2016, to organise a buffet for my daughters surprise Hen Party, Paul could not be more helpful they delivered the buffet when they said they would and the food was amazing they even arrange for some helium balloons for the table for us

We planned a celebratory carvery meal here on Saturday for my 70th birthday and were not in the least disappointed! The table was beautifully laid out and looked lovely, the food was extremely good and everyone who came commented on how much they enjoyed their visit. My birthday cake, made here, was just what I'd hoped for and what's left is STILL as fresh as on Saturday! Thank you to the two owners who made this possible.

A group of us were in town on business and wanted to stop off somewhere for a quality cup of tea and perhaps a slice of cake. We thought Tudor House would be perfect..how wrong we were. Four of our group of six ordered Earl Grey Tea and on arrival we could immediately see the milk had turned and was floating on the top of the tea.We asked for replacements and the waiter apologised and took the cups away. He then turned up with replacements but there was still the same problem and the milk was definitely sour as one of our group tasted it! A few of our group didn't want to make a fuss and so simply left their tea untouched but I felt the waiter hadn't addressed the problem and the teas were expensive enough to ask for a refund. I politely explained the problem that the milk was obviously off, but the waiter shrugged and said there was nothing else he could do and we could not get a refund.We then left without purchasing any of the cakes or light snacks and vowed not to return. It was a shame as Tudor House is nicely decorated and has a good ambience in the middle of town. Sadly serving tea with milk that is off, won't enhance its reputation and it now has 6 business people telling others not to bother going there.

Came here for a drink with my mum and 3 year old. Lovely and clean. Great service and reasonable prices. Best of all is the fish tank by the toilets. Certainly kept isaac amused. Ice creams are delicious as was the coffee. Definetly worth a visit

I arrived with my 2 fussy boisterous young grandsons for afternoon tea. We were shown a table by the fish tanks which they loved. The service was very attentive & swift, they adored the friendly chats with the tall waiter, telling them all about the different fish. The food was delicious & the boys were quiet for once. We went for our usual trip out for lunch on Wednesday, our two first choices were to our disappointment closed. No problem we decided to search for another destination. We ended up in Prestatyn and found the little gem that is Tudor House. As we entered we were greeted with a very welcoming Hello and upon checking the menu to make sure there was something to suit Dad we ordered poor and leek sausages, and mashed potatoes with onion gravy and tea for one and a cappuccino for me. After a short wait the food and drinks we're delivered. Absolutely delicious! Really recommended. The Tudor House and its eclectic decor is a must.

We visited during the so called quiet period between Xmas and New Year. The place was practically full, that is always a good sign. Plenty local people in there to try the excellent menu. The prices are exceptionally good as is the service. A definite must try again place.

This is the 2nd time we have used Tudor House. Last year we had a fabulous 7 course Christmas meal with lots of little surprises and extras. Paul also made us a lovely buffet to take away with us for the evening. This lasted for the next couple of days!! Home made pie, quiche and desserts.This year we decided to cook for ourselves but still ordered the buffet which again didn't disappoint. Just wish we lived nearer to use the cafe more than once a year!

Friends asked us to go with a group. They had a good experience and recommended it. I probably was unlucky with my meal. Have not been back, but would like to think it is improving.

The place looked very cosy. The atmosphere was good, but the food... well presented, but really not compatible with the taste buds. The cakes were too sweet! Lumps of sugar were found. Cutlery seemed dirty. I don't know if I'll return..

A brilliant place for somewhere quirky to eat! Visited with my mum and sister. The management I believe greeted us and we're very charming and welcoming. Food was good, and a great selection of chocolates to purchase from behind the counter!

Definitely different, good food scones delicious, coffee always tasty and fresh, it's all the aquariums that keep my grandchildren amused especially the soft backed turtle called stretch.

Having wondered in with my two Girls to eat - approached the far conter to ask if hot meals were served the short Man responded with steely indiffrence and siad yes menu's are behind the counter and haneded me one?? - like keeping the keys to a safe in the safe?Over all the place had an unwelcoming atmosphere - felt like they had desired cliental and we were not it.The decor is odd - no ID !.Looks like someone has had a go with a 90's home make over DVD.The short man was engaged with a young couple chatting about cakes - for a Wedding i belive.I wached whilst eating the food which was servicable, when a Man and Woman wandered in much the same way as we did - he did not get far as the short man framed the doorway to say in no uncertian terms they were closed - the Man asked what time they opned in the evening, to which the short man replied "we dont - thats it until Monday now" all very closed responses and some what rude...The shop front of this place is not clear and naturally leads people to want to know more and wander in - my best advice is to wander straight back out.Lastly the young guy who served us is outside any of the comments made - he did so with a manner befitting his role and applied his own standards to it - so thank you again to him.

Popped in here for lunch with my daughter. Food was fab. Very reasonably priced. Very busy n staff adressed many of the customers on a first name basis. The thing that impressed me the most was the fact that all allergens were clearly marked on the menu and such a vast choice. Gluten free, Vegetarian n even a weight watchers choice. Would highly recommend xxxxx

Foods always excellent, staff very friendly and welcoming, service sometimes a little slow but the atmosphere is great love this place

The food and service at the Tudor House was excellent. The ambience is fabulous with aviaries of birds, tanks filled with amazing fish. We loved it and returned during our week stay.Will definitely return anytime we are in the area.mThe menu range was great with meals, snacks, sandwiches, cakes and afternoon tea as well a great chocolate range.
