Tucker’s Fish & Chips in South Somerset

New to the area and was recommended this fish and chip shop, questioning if that person actually likes me now…. Large chips was the size of a kids portion for one, dry, and luke warm at best and the fish bites 3/5 of them were just pure batter.

Was dubious, as never like going somewhere new especially on holiday. Absolutely lovely fish and chips, the chips were banging! Very crispy! Which I like, curry sauce was also lovely, my husband and children disappointed in the sausages. But would recommend for the fish, chips and curry sauce ❤️

Never had an issue with the food, sometimes delivery is a little late but the driver is super polite and when you ring the shop they are always helpful 😀

Sorry to say but what's happening to the quality of your chips 🤔 It's more like eating crisps. Your food was amazing a couple of years back. Your rival in town is very much the same currently with regards to chips. 🤷🏼

Had a take away tonight ,battered sausage times 2,sausages inedible, the batter was like something that was cooked last week hard flaky, and not enjoyable ,paid alot of money for food we wasted.....

Awful chips seem like reheats. 4x in a row. 1 job guys.

I have to say i ordered food last night and it was absolutely disgusting. pie was rock hard. chips cold. curry sauce like water. They went straight into the bin Sorry guys

I have visited this place 4 times now (yes i like to give places a chance)and every time the food as tasted like it's been sitting for a few days. The chips taste like they have been cooked in oil 10days old The fish as more batter then fish. Deep fried chicken well I see more meat on a butcher's pencil then on the chicken. No care no love

£7.30 for “large cod” and basically got sent a fish finger, never use to be like this. When phoning was told it was done by weight which if it was of decent size would be understandable, got sent another piece which was “medium” however was the exact same size. Always been a customer of tuckers but won’t be anymore. Only positive was the pleasant delivery driver.

Lost customer! I always enjoyed fish and chips from here but having waited nearly 50 minutes for a “large” cod and chips it seemed like a sign to give up eating fish and chips for good. Tuckers seems to prioritise their on-line customers, all staff busy but not focussed on walk-in customers. I had my eye on a large piece of cod already in the hot counter but when I got home I was disappointed to see I had the smallest piece of cod I have ever seen and the mushiest chips known to mankind. What a shame.

The portion of haddock was big enough for two, and the medium chips for three!!! Excellent fish, but thought yhe chips were a little under cooked.

WHEN!!! The food arrives, its very good. Have no problem with the food itself. Always nice and tasty. However, the service is SO SLOW. Even if you order on line its NEVER ready at the time slot given. We ALWAYS have to wait and wait. The front of desk are VERY VERY slow. I could write my Christmas list in January. If you are hungry put your feet up and have a nap..your order may be ready!

absolutely appalled! I ordered the fillet of fish burger and chips. Most of the chips was green and the fish burger, there wasn't any fish just a few scraps .I am disgusted with the quality of the food .The guy that delivered it was very polite this is the only thing that I can say was acceptable. I will never order from here again.

Absolutely appalled at the tiny portion for an extortionate price tonight. So very poor and grumpy person serving.

Ordered delivery which was on time. The chip portions were of a decent size.

The large cod was excellent, we had child's chips but still too much, threw half away. Curry sauce ok

I have been coming here now for a couple of weeks as a treat ,I will test them all out.Yes very friendly and helpful staff the portion size is on the small size for large chips I get more at West St. But the taste is so different. Same price . Worth a visit .Quick service.chips are beautiful taste.

Great little Fish & Chip shop,ironically went for the chicken and chips,pretty amazing portions of chips and The chicken was good. I’ll definitely revisit soon

1st visit. friendly staff member, long wait despite no customers but sadly too oily for me so no return visit.

Extremely rude staff, went to collect my order and was just ignored until I went to walk out and they called me back, then when I did get my order they forgot my curry sauce good thing I noticed before I left then when I did get home I was missing my chips anyway so definitely wouldn't recommend unless they can get better staff. Worst thing of all they were not even busy...

Beef and onion pie was ordered when we got it home found it was sealed in the plastic packet with foil underneath, found huge white and blue and black mould over the top, when we called were told it got burned in the microwave? We said the pie was definitely mouldy, was then told to bring it back and have it replaced for free, it wouldn’t be free as we’d just paid for it and also we’d driven nine miles for the food so it would hardly be worth it. I won’t be going back again.

Chips, although more greasier than you'd expect were really good and the portion size were great a small is a large anywhere else. Pies were lovely and warm even after leaving for 10 minutes. Service was good even whilst training was going on and everyone was always doing something. Wouldn't mind the 20 minute travel just to grab a bite here.

Lovely food amazing portions had enough for the next day !

Placed an order online, over an hour and half later, still no food, called and was told it's on it's way, then they called me to say it's going to be another 20mins.

Fish was thin and therefore overcooked, the batter was also thin but crispy and perfectly nice. However the chips were just awful, stodgy, greasy, not much flavour, not nice at all. All this cost £9, money not all spent.

I've had fish and chips a few times ,when I visit my sons ,portions are very good size and always cooked perfectly

I come here today whist staying in the local area. Upon ordering our food the man on the till was very friendly. Even when packing and wrapping the friendly young lady was checking my order to make sure it was all correct. Food was delicious and reasonable priced. And a large chips was a great portion size. Definitely worth a visit!

Fish cake was a bit greasy looking

1st visit to this shop. Was clean, staff were friendly. Not sure about the fish. Was freshly cooked, but bland.

We all had fish and chips which were cooked to perfection the batter was nice and crispy and the cod tasty the chips were really nice nit overcooked and not greasy.

Delicious, huge pieces of fish and a lot of chips. Fast friendly service and plenty of salt and pepper. Great value. Perfect!

Beware, not vegetarian. They cook everything together in the fryers

This place is very good,quick service and delicious food,nice and clean, friendly staff , quick delivery times ,and their cod is very tasty,chips are nice as well,highly recommend to come to tuckers fish and chips,I would certainly come every day The new chef is clearly very experienced as well

Had to order over £20 which is hard for just 2 people, then when it arrived was asked for another £3 which wasn't mentioned on phone! Also, fish tasted old & chips were almost cold

I think this is the best fish and chip shop in town, but recent couple of meals has been poor. Savaloys are brown inside and have a pink strip running through it. Looks like they have been cooked for weeks but just sat there. Huge bit of gristle in mine last time too. Curry sauce is getting runner, and bearing in mind, tuckers aren't cheap. My past couple of experiences has convinced me to use the other fish and chip shop in town until tuckers standards get back to the level they used to be.

Horrendous quality food, AVOID! Chips were as hard as bullets, overcooked, tasted rancid, The Fish was also tasteless and poor quality. Well done Tuckers, possibly the worse fish and chips I have had in the last ten years!

Not the best but certainly not the worst. Forgot the mushy peas, which annoyed me when I got home. The portion of large chips was monster and I mean monster. However, asked for large cod got a medium bit which was cooked well and a small bit which was cooked too well. If your hungry defo go here but check your order before you leave!

Very nice fish and chips. Called in just before closing and although they had some chips ready they decided they had been there too long and cooked some fresh just for our order. It's little bits like this that show a good place to go. They could after all served up the chips they had and called it a day, but that extra bit of trouble they took was appreciated and we will be back again.

Too much batter on fish. Chips cold. Not the best experience. Sadly been tonight 31 12 19 as Crewkerne Fish Bar not open so gave Tuckers another chance. Just as bad as last time. Not a patch on Crewkerne Fish Bar. Will not be going again

Pretty good quality fish and chips. Worth sitting in, because same price as take away. Also get tomatoes ketchup and other bits FOC. Plates were cold though so soon cooled food.

Love this place such good prices and always fresh. Well worth taking my pricey enzymes to enjoy a meal from here. Their fishcakes are to die for and portions are more than generous

Big portions and cooked to order.

Very long wait of about 40 minutes between ordering and receiving the fish & chips to take away. The staff seemed in total chaos including the manager who seemed more of a hindrance than help to his staff. Too many chips, the fish was dried up and the batter was bland lacking any seasoning. The lady sat next to me on the bench seating actually fell asleep during the wait. No apology was offered for the rediculously long waiting time for bog-standard fish &chips. Too many staff who kept getting in each others way. If you want to watch slapstick comedy and see how NOT to run a fast food take-away pay them a visit but if you want fast service for good food avoid going to Tucker's in Crewkerne.

On first visit scampi overcooked, gave them benefit of the doubt and went back second time, but again, fish overcooked, pie microwaved and tough to cut, chips chewy and looked unpleasant.

Chips tasted like they had been cooked in old oil. Would rather drive to Yeovil and go to Palmer's. Don't bother unless you are dying of hunger. I would rather eat road kill...

Sweet little spot just across the hotel we were staying at. Portions are huge and the owner is very friendly and courteous. Fish was cooked perfectly and the batter was yummy and crisp as can be. Lovely lunch spot!

Not impressed that despite telling the girl on the phone three times we wanted a cheese burger with salad and veggie burgers with salad all three came without salad and cheese. This happens almost everytime we or people we know order burgers from this place. Chips were really good tonight but that's it. If you ask for something you expect to get what you've paid for.

Have had fish and chips here several times. Fish tasty, large and well cooked. Chips fresh and decent portions. You can call ahead if you are in a rush. Often busy so there can be a wait. Note: they don't accept card payments.
