Trellis Coffee Shop in Aberdeenshire

Mixed experience at Trellis. The cafe itself is lovely and clean and the cakes on offer are amazing and so lovely! Ideal for a coffee and cake stop! The menu for breakfast feels a little limited. Many of the dishes feel “egg heavy” but there are some other options. I feel like they are missing an opportunity for a brunch menu. Our recent experience was very mixed as we loved the food and coffees but the noise of the cafe in the bottom section was incredibly loud, and service was quite poor (uninterested staff, hard to get their attention). It could’ve been a bad and busy morning but it did stick with us and mirrors some of the other recent reviews. Please get back to the old Trellis we love and remember!

Was there for coffee and bacon rolls. Bacon cooked to perfection and plenty of it. Lattes are superb best coffee in Aberdeenshire great viewes over Newburgh golf coarse. Beautiful coffee shop and fantastic staff

After visiting this establishment several times and recommending it to friends, my recent experience has left me disheartened. During my visit over the weekend, the staff seemed disorganised. We waited for over 30 minutes for our orders to be taken, both for food and drinks. Despite the waitress repeating our order back to us for confirmation, it arrived wrong. Then a cake that we had ordered was brought out prematurely, despite our request for it to come later, and the toasties were not on sourdough bread as expected. There was no apology for these mistakes. Despite considering pointing out the errors, after a series of mishaps, I decided to pay and leave. I sincerely hope that this was just an off day, as my previous visits were much more satisfying.

I had a disappointing visit to Trellis Coffee Shop recently, which has left me with no desire to return. The customer service was incredibly poor, as we had to ask multiple times to even place our order. When the food finally arrived, it was a mess - wrong orders, incomplete tosties, and a leek and potato soup that was beyond strange. I usually enjoy this soup, but the version served here had no flavor at all. I have visited Trellis Coffee Shop before and had a positive experience, but this last visit was a complete letdown. Unfortunately, the lackluster service and subpar food quality have deterred me from returning in the future.

I come here regularly for takeaway coffee which I have really enjoyed so today I decided to sit in for lunch. It was quite busy and after I had been seated it took 20 minutes for my order to be taken. My food took 5-10 minutes which I thought was very quick, however my coffee didn't arrive until 5 minutes after I l finished my food. When I asked politely to have it to takeaway instead, the server became quite defensive but then when they came back with my takeaway cup they apologised for the wait. Judging by the appearance and taste I think the coffee was just poured into a takeaway cup. All in all a disappointing experience so I think I will stick to takeaway coffees. In terms of food it was nice enough and the view onto the golf course is really pretty.

Unfortunately the venue is very noisy and we could hardly hear ourselves think never mind talk. Management should consider noise cancelling panels on the ceiling. Not very imaginative with gluten free cake options, not everyone wants a brownie every time they go and some people like me don’t like brownies.

Good service, good food and a view but it's very noisy and difficult to hear. Needs wooly clouds or similar to absorb some of the noise which kinda spoils and other wise 5. Staff must find the level of noise difficult when it's busy.

Having moved to the area recently, I have visited Trellis perhaps more times than I should admit to. Whether it’s for a sit in lunch or a takeaway coffee, I have never been disappointed so far. A lovely treat in a lovely place run by lovely people.

Excellent food, and really accommodating staff considering we turned up with a baby and my mum in a wheelchair! Excellent food and then coffee and cakes too. Yum!

Been a few times before aways fantastic this visit no exception first time we have been in a morning. Had coffee and bacon rolls coffee is always the best but first time for bacon rolls. Big rolls loads of bacon cooked to perfection what a treat. Staff great.

Excellent variety of eats and good coffee. Helpful, friendly staff. I will not give 5 stars as the cheese and olive scone I ordered was a little short on cheeses and, no doubt due to the olives, had a rather bitter taste and dry texture. The café area is also quite noisy due to the way in which sounds echo around the room. We will go back but definitely avoid the scones and probably sit outside the main dining area.

Frittata with salad was my choice. Frittata lovely, salad interesting - water melon, raw broccoli and lettuce. Wife had soup with bread and being Scottish and very keen on soup felt it was too salty and the bread wasn't as fresh as it should be. Staff pleasant, very clean restaurant, interesting view of the Foveran Burn from the window plus a great outdoor space to eat. As a regular customer who comes away happy - disappointed that wife's meal wasn't of usual standard. Along with one tea and one soft drink paid £18.10.

Stopped off for lunch while doing the NEOS tour . Lovely new cafe with outdoor seating area . The coffee was great- lovely smooth taste . We asked for the chicken salad to be swapped to the garlic chicken which was a ‘ special ‘ baguette . This was refused .. not sure why as we were just asking for it to be a salad instead of a baguette.( I don’t eat bread ) My friends bread was tough and dry . The car parking wasn’t great .. very awkward & lots of spaces taken up by work vans etc due to the renovation of the hotel . The orders were coming out to the wrong tables .. not sure why as we gave table number at the till and numbers are on each table . Plus points for the little shop on site and also dog friendly indoors and outdoors which is a bonus . Has the potential to be really good if food allergies could be catered for , and the parking area was a better layout .

Beatiful place great views across the golf coarse first time visit coffee and cakes fantastic staff very friendly staff best coffee shop I have been in in a very long time. Will be back to visit again soon.

this cafe was recommended but we found the food not very good, was it a bad day, I don't know but each of our meals was wanting, over cooked, dry and chewy fratatta, we did not complain. However, my other friend chewed on a piece of string in her pulled pork roll. Staff we very nice and cakes looked lovely but we decided to pay and go.

If you are looking for a cosy and modern cafe to catch up with friends or family, get some work done or just want a bite to eat then the Trellis Coffee shop is the place to go. We stumbled across it on our way up north and decided to give it a try, the staff are really friendly and welcoming, the whole cafe is cosy with a great view over the golf course. They have lots of homemade cakes/pastries which looked delicious, we hoped they would have a larger selection of toasties/panini's but the ham & cheese was still tasty and full of flavour. It would be good if you could opt for crisps or chips rather than the salad/pasta. Toasties are just over £9.50 which is a little expensive for what you get but they do taste great. The Trellis Coffee Shop is located just opposite the old Udny Arms hotel in the function room opposite with plenty of onsite parking.
