Search a jem! Living history. So interesting to walk around the factory that still produces Welsh woollen blankets from the fleace off the sheep's back to the finished product. Highly recommend

We popped in late on a Tuesday afternoon so it was very quiet and there were no tours but we were able to walk around most of the mill and look at the various machines - which was amazing! One of the looms upstairs was being operated ( it is extremely loud) and there are information panels dotted about. The shop is quite large and although they specialise in their own beautifully designed cloth ( bedspreads, cushion covers, fabric by the yard) they also have other wool products and clothing for sale. Something for everyone.

This was a great place to visit. Upstairs they have the machinery to take raw wool and work it into balls. They have weaving machines. Morgan showed us around and gave us information on each machine, he has been working there since 1969/1970. Downstairs they sell items made from the wool which are beautiful but out of my price range.

First off, do not attempt to turn in to the mill site itself. There is a sign on the gate which you pass saying there is limited turning space. It's not wrong. There is a car park opposite. The shop itself sells a range of clothing, and gifts. The blankets they sell are of good quality but very expensive. You can walk round the mill buildings, but they are not accessible, and care should be taken with small children as access is via external metal fire escapes. The outbuildings are in a rough state of repair. The whole place needs some attention. In response to the owners comments: 1) We did see all of those places. However with no explanation of your hydro system, no meters showing current generation or a count of kWh for the year etc., frankly it could be shown in a far more positive light. Even an explanation of a Pelton wheel turbine design would have been something. I was surprised and shocked that your belt drives were not enclosed in any sort of safety cage. One of those breaking would cause serious injury. 2) We saw one weaver making cloth. He didn't acknowledge us and didn't offer any conversation. This is very much contrasted with other mills I've visited in the past, and the weavers in Worsted Church. 3) I maintain my concerns over signage, safety and the overall run down nature of the site.

Lovely open plan shop with friendly staff 👌 Lots of choices and very reasonably priced. The car park was tight and tricky, so if not confident, then park across the road.

Absolutely love this weaving mill and shop! I visited 30 years ago and saw the whole weaving operation, and was ecstatic when I finally got back to the UK this summer- and was able to visit Trefriw Woolen Mill again. Wonderful that the weaving looms and water powered electric generator are still running- Green energy for over 150 years- and you can see your Welsh blankets being woven, so interesting, educational and fun! We bought another blanket in a different pattern of their vast selection of designs. And amazing to see their display of blankets from almost 100 years ago! Cool! A Must Go trip for kids and all adults to see the textile industry in action, as well as historic green energy in the water turbine!

Amazing place to visit, something for everyone here! Engineering, History, local gifts, Amazing Welsh tapestry, throws, place mats clothing etc. The quality is absolutely outstanding, and will last generations. The staff are very welcoming, child friendly and helpful. Always a pleasure visiting this wonderful working Mill/shop.

Wonderful place with lots of fascinating history. Still make wonderful woven good in ancient machinery which you can watch in action! Their own (very old) hydro electric generation still powered all their machines, and is also fascinating to see!

Lots to buy - over 2 weeks staying in the village we bought maps, biscuits, soap, jumpers, waterproof hat, and finally ...a woven cushion cover with the Welsh design

Very nice shop with very nice things to buy. You can find everything from books and blankets to jewelery and soaps. Well worth a visit!

Very hard to find and no parking, and over priced

We stayed in walking distance so had to see what it was about. We likely went at a bad time, however, the shop area itself was lovely, with lots of interesting items about. The staff were also pleasant and welcomimg- and dogs were happily welcomed!

Good shop but the whole place had a feel of “on its way out”. Was fascinating but not as good as similar place we visited in Norway. They could learn from that and make this place amazing.

Great place, but the manager of there is awful, was rude to my children, and downright disrespectful and just a grumpy old lady, just leave the shop floor for the more pleasant staff that was there, otherwise a nice place

Lady at the front was helpful with suggestions and we ended up buying two beautiful large rug and throws

A surprise! Popped in as thought the displays looked interesting. Ended up buying a lovely little pot and also some local shortbread to take home as gifts (it had been difficult to find local food products!) Interesting to see behind the scenes and the staff were really friendly.

Love seeing all the Willem throws, blankets and clothes. Friendly and helpful staff.

If you are looking for some high-quality clothing and Welsh souvenirs then this is the place to stop at as you are driving through the beautiful scenic valley from Betwys y Coed to Conwy.

We went to see the place where my husband's great grandfather was born. We found the little old church. We also found you, beautiful people in Trefriw museum. Diolch yn fawr.

Fun store. Plenty of wool options. Also, really fun to watch them work the wool!!

Besides a big shop full of their wonderful produce there is the work shop full of noise from the drive unit for the machinery to make the cloth.

Visited this shop after a long walk around Trefnant lake. Nice large shop, high quality woollens. Unfortunately it was late afternoon and the cafe wasn't open for refreshment!

I visited Trefriw Woollen Mills a few years ago as I absolutely love Welsh blankets. It was a lovely day trip and so nice to see that these traditions still exist. Having bought Welsh blankets for every bed in my house, I recently bought one as a wedding present for my sister, to remind her of childhood holidays in Wales, and to keep as an heirloom for years to come. The staff are helpful and lovely to deal with, the blanket arrived this morning and we are all delighted with it. Thankyou!

I’ve just received a beautiful blanket from Trefriw as a wedding gift from my sister. The craftsmanship is amazing and the quality is second to none. Highly recommend if you’re after a piece that will last for generations. I look forward to cosying up with it this winter.

I bought a small blanket here, it's called a knee throw" which I'm extremely happy with.

We wanted to show our daughter the mill workings but were initially disappointed that the weaver wasnt usually there on Mondays. However he arrived and showed us all the process. You could see from the raw wool to the finished products. Also the magnificent water driven turbines. Thank you all xx The shop has a wide range of lovely things including products made at the mill. Seeing the work and process to make them makes you realise they are a bargain.

A good visit with plenty of goods to buy. Views can be had of the wool shed, the hydro power system and the weaving machinery in action. Very interesting.

Lovely place to look round didn't except it to be as good as it was

The answer to the question of where to go to find traditional woven goods in Wales. The site, itself, is beautiful, offering tours through the workshops. The workshops features everything from modern to wonderfully preserved and maintained classic looms and tools of the trade. I found it interesting. My mum, who is a weaver, herself, was absolutely absorbed by the processes. The shop offers up many products, which are made on site, as well as items made from local textiles, crafters, and artisans. You can also buy the usual sort of tourist-tat here but, really, it's the traditional craft that deserves the attention.

Nice place with full process shown. There were man who worked since 1969 and it was amazing talk, he said us a lit about machine a nd how it is working. Worth visit.

Disappointing no demo of weaving no info surely they need to be expanding the heritage elements plus very expensive, why no cafe etc do they want people to visit it doesn't seem to be so

Lots of woollen products to see although not all local Plenty to see and if timed right the weaving can be viewed. Prices a bit on the high side as they usually are for hand made goods

Ok, so the best thing is it's free to walk round. On some days there is machinery running and on others not. When I went nothing was running. Might be worth ringing up to see if they can tell you when some machines will be running if that is important to you. The turbine was interesting, but I went through the mill in about 15 minutes. The shop? It's a shop, you'll need to ask someone else about that. Toilets clean. The fairy falls are close by, you might consider doing both?

Fantastic shopping experience great crafting items and love the woolen made animals of sheep owls e.t.c well worth a visit and a walk around the tranquill village love it..👍

Bit pricey, gorgeous weave shop

Its great to see a working mill. We were there at a time when they were using 2 looms, which was nice. Unfortunately, that meant we didn't see the spinning and other processing in action. It would be great to get a little more information on the processing and work involved. To see all areas one needs to get up/down two flights of stairs. The products in the shop were not to my taste but well crafted.

Something for every one, very high quality products in both looks and the making. Interesting guide as to how the base material is made. Worth a visit. Trefiw itself is very interesting with plenty to offer in terms of walks and amenities.

Didn't dislike it, the merchandise was excellent, just so unwelcoming and no atmosphere, plus tea shop closed.

We decided to pop in as the last part of our "Tour North Wales With American Mother" trip. Totally a great stop if you're interested in really nice textile and knitted products. The fact that it is a fully functional, water powered mill, where raw wool works it's way to amazing woven products is fascinating. The people working there were super friendly. We didn't have any snacks as it was late in the day, but we did go up and watch a mill in operation. That was amazing. You can feel the power of the machine in the floor and see the intricate mechanical parts working together to create beautiful textiles. Proper true craftsman working these machines. I got a great sweater for a great price. Remember people, though products for sale may seem expensive, things with the Trefriw label are very unique and handmade. I'd say totally worth it. Would definitely pop in again.

Quality wool products made in the traditional way worth a visit but I thought expensive

We had trouble finding this mill and when we did finally find it the actual mill was shut. The shop was open but we found it a little expensive

Products are of good quality but prices are exorbitant. Clothing products are dated and possibly needs to be updated for a new generation. People seem to be walking out without any purchases (unfortunately).

Perfect spot for a morning coffee and lunch. We stopped off before and then after a local walk down to the beach. Latte with soya for creamy and soft. Egg Mayo wrap with crisps and salad the perfect after walk nourishment! Lovely atmosphere and design layout with the outdoor seating and especially the sun seat!!!

we really enjoyed the working part of this mill....with heaps of colored skeins and blankets in process - wonderful! They also have a nice big gift shop and a little tea room. A very authentic and good place to visit!

Only the shop open due to Covid, but still worth a visit. Stunning fabrics with history, and very friendly staff. The whole family enjoyed the visit - made even better by the fact that it's dog friendly!

Visited here today lovely place, items for all ages. Great to be able the see the looms working making blankets very intresting. Staff very helpful and friendly. Also a spacious shop, floor all marked out well one way system so no problems social distsncing.

The fabric they make here is superb quality with some interesting colours. Yes, it is expensive, but you get what you pay for. I was bought some tweed for Christmas and have made waistcoat, which I am very pleased with, that is lovely and soft.

This was a very interesting visit. We were there when the mill was working, so we went upstairs and were able to watch them operating the spinners and twisters. It had a wonderfully woolly smell and so many interesting things to look at.

Shop is extensive, at other locations the staff offered advice on the attraction,where to go what to see etc, alas this was not the case in the shop nor the two staff members in the coffee shop. Did not feel a friendly vibe

One of the most interesting places I've seen whilst on my North Wales Holiday.

Not as accessible as i had hoped. Wheelchair access to toilet up a steep incline. Lots of lovely things to buy. Also would have liked a better more extensive choice in the cafe.

Fantastic little museum and free which is a rarety these days. The mill machines are still running and the history of the mill is very interesting, lovely shop too full of the things still produced by the mill, little coffee shop has snacks etc, not a lot accessble by wheelchair which is a shame.

Lovely Welsh Woollen items, but paid for at a premium.

Self guided tour is free. My kids were able try making a rag rug and weaving in a loom. There are a lot of signs explaining each part of the process. Great gift shop with all sorts of items for sale.

Both my husband and I were fascinated by the woollen mill. We actually missed the beginning of the tour and jumped straight in. It was amazing to see the machinery working turning the wool into yarn and then woven into the fabric. It was awesome to see the weaver using the loom to produce the intricate fabric. Finally through the cafe into the shop where there are a large range of clothes and woven items. The fabric is expensive £65 meter but there's other things less expensive to buy. A GREAT place for crafters and those who enjoy watching machinery work. I don't think it's suitable for young children as the place can be noisy.

Fantastic place to visit. Very old machines very good maintein and usefully still. Amazing electric generator with Pelton turbine. Traveled two hours to visit Trefriw Woollen Mill and this was beautiful day. I definitely recommend it.
