Called in on the off chance and was welcomed warmly by two very attentive staff. Food and drinks ordered and were served efficiently. Portion sizes were very generous and all the foods we ordered was superb, tasty and without fault, if anything was too large a serving for one of us! Highly recommend!

We have often called here for drinks overlooking the bay. Beautiful view. Very friendly staff. We decided to have some lunch sitting outside on the terrace. Pestered by wasps. The ham sandwich was tasty. Very thick slices of ham. The Bruschetta was disappointing. Where was the tomato? Different to any Bruschetta I’ve ever had. Wouldn’t choose it again. Will continue to visit for drinks.

They "fitted us in" (2 adults and a young child) at short notice which was a plus and the staff were friendly. The view out over the bay, from our table in the dining room was spectacular too. The food however was very average, the steak we ordered, in particular, was really poor quality, overcooked and mostly inedible. We had a young child with us who ordered a chocolate ice cream, it came as a single scoop with nothing with it (no chocolate sauce, no wafer or sprinkles maybe, all the stuff that kids love but more importantly the type of little touches that show that a restaurant cares. We did get some chocolate sauce after we asked! When the itemised bill came we were charged 30p for a measure of children's orange cordial (fair enough) then another 50p for the tapwater to go with it...! When you're being charged £75 for very average food (no starters or desserts for the adults) and just 3 drinks this came over as cheap and petty. Thank you for fitting us in but we won't be re-visiting.

While on holiday in Wales, we lunched with friends who introduced us to the Trecastell Hotel, as they live on Anglesey. My fellow diners all thoroughly enjoyed excellent ribeye steaks, while I ordered the Trecastell Chicken, "A Breaded Chicken ballotine stuffed with leeks & cheddar cheese with Leek sauce, asparagus & roasted new potatoes". I enjoyed this original dish so much that I would rate it as one of the best I have ever had. If I only lived nearer, I would return several times for additional helpings of this spectacularly good dish! The other three all had different desserts - one homemade Eton mess; one tiramisu; one warm Belgian waffle with toffee sauce, fruit and ice cream - all greatly enjoyed. Alas, I didn't have room for dessert, so went straight on to coffee. Altogether, a very enjoyable experience - excellent food in a lovely setting, with impressive views of Bull Bay.

Well last week was our third visit in 12 months, so that should just about say it all. An absolutely fantastic place to stay, for accomodation, food/drink and the locality for places to visit. Brilliant hosts in Gill and James, fabulous rooms, stunning views, the bar is really well priced, the restaurant menu has something for everyone, and the chef is amazing. You have to meet Angie at breakfast, she's a star, and talking of breakfast, you won't need much for the rest of the day. Have a chat with the guys behind the bar, they are a great bunch. We love Anglesey and wouldn't stay anywhere else.

Often, when you find a nice hotel when away for work, you tell the staff that you will return for a personal trip. Well - it has finally happened. I spent 10 nights at Gill and James' lovely hotel in the summer, and it was duly booked for a 'pre back to work' short break in the new year. On entering the hotel we were greeted by James, Megan Josh and Angie - one of the things that I loved about this place was the friendliness of the staff - and being greeted like an old friend felt extremely welcoming. The location is so great - in the summer being just across from the beautiful coastal path means wonderful stunning walks. What would it be like in the winter? Well - the same. Much more care was needed on the slippery and wet paths, but it works just as well in the colder months. Gill and James left for a well -earned break, and so we were left in the very capable hands of Matt, Kayleigh and Becky, ably supported by Ellis and Rhys. We even became friends with the non resident hotel dog Obie. I am back soon for another work trip. I can't wait.

We were at Trecastell hotel on Saturday 11th November for my Nanna's funeral, We as a family booked for the funeral reception and James and his team provided us as a large family and friends of 75 people a fantastic buffet. you really could not fault the food, sandwiches loaded with fillings plenty of pies , sausage rolls , cheese and onion slice's , quiche, bara brith, scones and more. Every time a tray emptied they were replenished almost instantly. The staff carried out their role's to perfection with plenty on hand at the bar cutting down waiting time dramatically. You really could see James and his wife go above and beyond to please and I personally would like to say thank you, you really did do a great job.... I'm certain all the family will be back

Really beautifully placed hotel, room was lovely and clean, we were in room 1, an earlier review stated that the fan was noisy, we didn't find this to be the case, even with the window open, you could hear it, but definitely didn't interfere with our relaxation. Every staff member, from the reception, bar, wait staff to the service staff was friendly and efficient. Small team who worked extremely hard to ensure the smooth running of a busy place with a quick turnover. Thank you to the chefs for the fab breakfasts, perfect poached eggs every day, and the lovely filling evening meals, the bruschetta is second to none! The views are the icing on the cake. I think we forget sometimes to appreciate how hard people work, and pick on insignificant things that don't meet our expectations. Thank you all for making this a great 1st visit to Anglesey. (Also of note, was advised best to book via hotel direct for best prices).

We could not have been any more satisfied with our meals! My husband and I both had the carvery and the beef was literally cooked perfectly. There were other meat options available but when I saw the beef, it was all I wanted! My husband had beef and pork and was equally pleased. The sides were so tasty and also cooked perfectly. The value for money is exactly what we hope for these days as we all make choices for where to dine out when we can. I booked the table easily through Facebook Messenger and when I mentioned it was our wedding anniversary, they reserved a table in the conservatory for us. We enjoyed an all-around wonderful dining experience. My only regret is that we haven’t eaten here before now! Thank you, Chef!

Really disappointed been here before and had excellent food and service, not anymore, the lad behind the bar was great, the table service was great, the food was disgusting, we sent one dish back as it was too cold to eat, it came back exactly the same way, the katsu curry was edible depending on how hungry you were, I think if this place sinks any lower it will be a building site this time next year. Which is a pity because it was really really good.

Chose this restaurant as close to amlwch, 15 min walk for centre, found it a friendly atmosphere, and attentive staff. My wife is a coeliac, and first observation the gluten free options were very limited, It would have great if more gluten free dishes available. To start my wife had confit duck as only gluten free option, which was overcooked, and I had the garlic mushrooms, the bread was dry for sourdough, mains on offer for gluten free were only pork dishes (gammon or honey roast ham). As before, it would have been great if more options available for a coeliac. We both had the honey roast ham with chips, egg and peas, which was a good portion size. Overall the experience was ok, would have been a better review if they had more gluten free options.

Sunday Lunch today 😋 Absolutely delicious carvery!! 4 meats to choose from, you can have a bit of all four. Perfectly cooked. Huge Yorkshire puts. And so much veg to choose from! Roasted carrots & parsnips, cauliflower cheese, broccoli, roasted and mashed potatoes. Plus stuffing balls, gravy and an array of condiments to accompany the meal. Everything was fresh and hot. I really couldn't fault it. Best of all, the price.....£14 pp. 2 courses £18, 3 courses £22. We just had the main course and left feeling very satisfied indeed 😊 Will be recommending to our Anglesey friends and taking family there in the future. We live approximately 18 miles away and are happy to travel for great food at a very reasonable price 😀 We loved that we could take our Yorkshire Terrier with us today. Diolch x

We eat there on Sunday 19th May. The specials menu had a great selection of fish dishes. Our dishes were very nicely cooked the fish was just right cooked to a fine standard. Will definitely go again next time we visit Anglesey.

We ate here at the end of April, after booking a table for Sunday lunch carvery... The table we were given in the conservatory was crushed into a corner, and quite uncomfortable.. Service was slow and poor, and the food was disappointing.

Turned up not booked, they gave us a table for 3 with room for 2 large dogs. Sunday lunch was fantastic, never seen my hubby clear his plate and everyone else’s. Cheese cake gorgeous. Beautiful view from table and a reasonable price

Anglesey can be a funny old place when it comes to eating out. If, like us, you decided on the spur of the moment to go out for dinner, then don’t hesitate to try the Trecastell Hotel.

Found this place easily just before Bull Bay sign and overlooking the sea. Menu was extensive enough and had some good veggie options. Planned to have Halloumi but the cauli and potato curry looked delicious. Food was plentiful and very tasty with poppadom and mango chutney on the side. £40 for two of us with 3 pints so good value too. Staff were very friendly and pooches are welcome too. Fully recommended for a hearty meal.

Closed down a couple of years ago! Sadly a wasted visit, although lots of produce as now just a farm shop, very over priced

Doesn't look much from the car park. Go through the arch to the beer garden, it's like the wardrobe to Narnia. Open fronted glamping pod, table in a boat, an unbelievable Hobbit house, fully furnished, with books in a bookcase. Go down the steps to the garden terrace overlooking the bay. Comfy and sheltered seating, with stunning views. Is dog friendly too. The beer is no worse a price than tourist places. And is a decent pint. Ignore the naysayers. It's a very pleasant place for relaxing with a drink. We will be returning.
