Travellers Rest in Wirral

To the crass women who thinks I shouldn't have a drink in a pub that allows dogs, then read the rules posted on the property about dogs, which I have attached. Pity you didn't have your husband's attitude, who said sorry and recalled the dog. To cap it all another large dog was allowed to stroll around the pub. The management want to enforce the notice they put up, as litigation will be coming their way. The owners comments are unprofessional, an apology for my spoilt evening and that the staff would enforce the posted notice with bad dog owners, would be a more suitable reply. Have frequented the pub close to 40 years, to see standards drop.

Best pub in Bebington, excellent selection of real ales, great pub food and lots of history. Great staff and dog friendly too.

Great place. White rat on cask was really good. Friendly landlord. Need to visit again soon and try the food.

Regularly go here for drinks and pizzas. Great beer, always a good selection, food great, pizzas are fantastic. Always a nice atmosphere.

Great little pub been several times for lunch the food is lovely and we love the fact we can take are dog with us, staff are lovely and friendly carnt fault anything about this place even like the fact they have water and treats on a table for the dogs.

Lovely atmosphere, lovely dog friendly pub. love popping in here after I've walked in the woods across the road. Definitely recommend this little gem. Esp in the winter, lovely place to just sit and relax and watch the world go by.

Having visited the Travellers for more than 20 years and it now being our "local", it was about time I left a review. The beers are amazing, the wines and spirits on offer are plentiful and fab quality, the food is great and above all the landlord, landlady and all the staff are what makes this pub the friendly, welcoming traditional 30 year old pub that it is! If you are in the area, be sure to visit and support them!

What an absolute gem of a place, these placed are hard to find in this day and age! A pleasure to be here and will be back for certain.

Just THE best pub! We’ve come regularly for 11+ years and cannot fault the staff, the food, the atmosphere. Friendly, welcoming, great food and range of drinks. All our family love it, including our dog who will always pull to go in as we go past! Thanks Keith, Gill and all the staff for making The Travs our favourite pub, ever!

Excellent food, friendly staff. Was really helpful after our walk that dogs were allowed in the pub and water and biscuits where provided for them.

Really quaint and cosy pub, always passed it when driving but thought I would pop in for one or two pints with my dad. I'm glad I did, because the beer was good, the locals and regulars were really nice and welcoming and the barman was really friendly. Plus, dog friendly!

The food is good for the price. £7 sandwich and you get alot for the price. Guiness is good. The place is small, but great for a pint and a bite to eat after a walk in the woods.

Popped in this evening to meet with my inlaws after a very cold football tournament 🥶 The pub was so warm and cosy. The staff so welcoming and attentive. It was the perfect place to defrost 🧊.

We were there for live music on Saturday night and it was excellent albeit a little cramped. Having said that the atmosphere was good and the bar staff excellent and the music, superb all in all a good night out.

Probably the best pub on the Wirral. A lovely, traditional and welcoming old pub that is close to Storeton Woods and easy to find. The Travellers Rest has great pub style food and always has a good selection of well kept beers. Keith the owner, his wife, and brilliant staff are really friendly and helpful and are always welcoming and are happy to have a chat. Well behaved dogs are welcomed and there's a free water dispenser and bowls for the dogs, and a complimentary dog treat box, so our dogs love coming here as much as we do. It's recommended to book a table at certain times during the week as it's a popular place. A must visit if you like traditional style pubs and great pub food.

Another lovely lunch time meal with family.

My first visit to this particular watering hole was to finish off a fairly restrained pub crawl, and grab something to eat. The 30 minute walk up the hill started OK, but ended with rain so heavy it turned the roads into rivers. Needless to say, on arrival we were somewhat wet. First group of those already there asked if it wa raining outside, therefore reinforcing my view that all Scousers are comedians. Anyway, after some confusion as to which tables were already reserved (just put signs on all of them!) we settled to 2 decent halves of pale ale and for me the cod and chips. My daughter had the chicken pie with chips and gravy (welcome to the North!). Bothe the drinks and the food were excellent, and I will definitely be back for another meal with the good lady sometime soon. We'll probably drive there, though.

Had a delicious meal in beautiful surroundings. Staff very friendly and efficient. Loved it. Will be back.

Another update with pictures of chicken wing appetizer and the chicken and beef Sunday dinner - as ever great food. An amazing selection of beers at a very reasonable price. Service is exemplary and nothing ever seems any trouble. Even a taster of a new beer is given with even asking about it, like they read your mind when not sure. Atmosphere is perfect for a snug brew house. And of course the food is great as well anything for a quick bite to Sunday lunch. Well worth a visit or two.

Love this Pub! Customer service is above board! The food and beer are amazing! Just came back from our Sunday Roast Dinner. What an amazing meal! The freshest vegetables and roast chicken was delicious and cooked to perfection!!! Everyone there so kind and helpful. I love the Travellers Rest!!

We didn't try the food, this time but the selection of quality ales is fantastic.

We booked a Christmas party for 17 of us on Saturday. We were allocated a side room next to the bar. All went really well, food, drinks, table decs and service superb. Good genuine, no nonsense pub. Thoroughly recommend.

We didn't eat here - we came for the Saturday night Band. We had a great night. Terrific atmosphere. Friendly customers. Super beer. Attentive, helpful staff. PLUS the band was excellent. The SECRETS from Crosby were brilliantly entertaining and great to listen too. If they are on here again, you should come and see them.

Love this little pub, it’s just unfortunate that it’s so close to Storeton Woods and mega dog friendly.. because we regularly cut our walks short and head over for a couple of drinks instead 😆🍺

Just been here for Sunday lunch. Never again. All veg was frozen. Roat potato frozen then chucked in the fryer. Beef was packet beef. Chicken breast was like rubber. We wasn't asked if the food was OK but I told the waiter Anyway and he just smirked. £14 each what a waste of money.

Great food with good vegan and vegetarian menu, pleasant service and atmosphere and the dog was welcome too. I had the vegan burger which was the best I've ever had.

Great little old fashioned pub. Dog friendly. I had the Mediterranean vegetable tart for lunch and hubby had beef madras. Very nice. We'll definitely be back.

Go there when walking my dog staff lovely and always make me the my 2 boys and dog very welcome one of my boys tried the pizza out thought it was a bit expensive until we tried it best pizza I've had worth every penny my other boy had the double burger which was also very very tasty only one gripe understand it's more of a traditional ale pub but would like to see another premium lager on draft a nice German or Czech beer that said looking forward to next visit might just have to start drinking ale

Great food, amazing portion sizes - we had vegan mains alongside Sunday roast veggies and certainly had at least 3 of the 5 a day serving on one plate. Great vegan options with plentiful choice including for desserts which was a pleasant surprise! They do vegetarian gravy and vegan ice cream as well. The portions were so big I had to clarify it was only 1 portion 😅 very dog friendly and baby chairs provided too. Lovely friendly service. Definitely one of the best pubs on the Wirral.

A proper local, we hadn't been for quite a few years, as it wasn't dog friendly but that changed about 6 years ago, which we have only just discovered. Excellent beer selection and a great looking menu, which we'll try on our next visit.

Very disappointed with how my friend and I were treated when we popped in for a drink with our dogs last night. Firstly a man approached us asking us to let him know when we were leaving because he wanted that table, so rude. We had our dogs sitting on our coats on the seats which was fine, when getting up to leave my dog jumped up for one second and immediately a rude woman who must work there snapped at us and said get your dog down, she knew the dogs had been sat on our coats as she had walked past us a few times, my dog jumped up for one second while I was putting my coat on and she very rudely pointed her finger at me about this. We left and on the way our people scrambling to get those seats. I will NEVER be going back. There is a way of speaking to people and snapping and pointing your finger is never good. I gave one star and that was purely because of the lovely young lady called Lily who was working behind the bar

Proper old fashioned English public house🍻🍷🍗🍖🍲🥗☕.Great location with it being opposite Storeton Woods at the top of Rest Hill Road, & so perfect for a refreshment stop after a long afternoon walk on a hot day🌄. Also it's 🐶 friendly... The only downside it has is that it's situated on Mount (a busy B) Road & so sitting outside isn't a relaxing or quiet experience🚘...😏.

Nice to see a traditional pub. Not messed about with and keeping it's original name. Great beers and staff. Long may it be the same. Getting busy for quiz night. Locals looking for their normal seats. Very nicely though.

I visited this pub pre match at Prenton Park. Good quality real ale along with a choice of ales. Plenty of diners led me to believe the food was enjoyable. Diffecult to park, so beware. I will visit again if I'm in the area!
