Cracking food and experience Oliver and Ellie ooked after us and did great !

Having been going to the travellers regularly for the past two years, the staff are so inviting and polite. The food is very very nice 10/10 👏👏👏 extremely tasty!! The atmosphere is amazing they have an open fire to warm yourself on those cold days, blankets if you want to go outside to the beer garden and it is also pet friendly!! I’d like to thank Adam and all the waiting staff there who have gone above and beyond in helping us out when we’ve needed!! thank you so much and we will see you very soon.

Absolutely stunning Sunday Roast as always. Welcoming and friendly staff, was served by Lisa who couldn't do enough to accommodate our family and dietary requirements.

Took my mother for an early Mothers day meal last Friday. The Ribeye was cooked to perfection and my mother loved her fish and chips. Lovely atmosphere and ambience too.

Visited here as treat with my daughters and grand-daughter, what can I say first time and definitely not the last. Very friendly staff and was greeted upon arrival and showed to our table. A really lovely gentleman was our waiter, he brought us our drinks super quick and took our orders. We had starters, mains and desserts which did not dissappoint. The presentation of all the dishes were perfectly plated. The food arrived hot and was plentiful. Drinks were chilled. The service was top class. The restaurant it's self is just simply beautiful lovely and cosy with a nice log fire burning. Very lovely outside seating area with plenty of tables and benches. This restaurant is dog friendly too. All staff were very polite and friendly.

The food was great, and the rustic feeling of the pub was lovely. Service was, however, a bit slow. Even though we had a booking and were there at the right time, we still had to stand at the bar and wait 15/20 minutes to be seated. Food itself was delicious but was also slow to come, taking well over an hour after ordering.

I visited The Traveller’s Rest today and was thoroughly impressed! The food was absolutely delicious, and the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, making for a very pleasant experience. As a vegetarian, I was particularly impressed with the variety and quality of the vegetarian/vegan options. I will definitely be coming back and highly recommend it to others!

Went for Sunday lunch. The food was delicious and cooked to perfection. Excellent portion value too. A lovely building with a great atmosphere and friendly staff. Would highly recommend if you are looking for a top dining experience.

A hidden gem. I've been twice now. The first time was around a decade ago. It was so memorable that the next time I was in the area (Feb '25) I made it a point to visit again. I'll be sure to do the same the next time I'm in Wales!

The restaurant was uncomfortably cold, with no fires lit. Most customers were eating in their outdoor clothing, but the staff didn’t seem to notice—perhaps because it was busy. Unfortunately, the beef was nearly raw, very tough with lots of gristle, and difficult to cut. We had to request a steak knife, but even that was blunt. The roast potatoes were rock-hard, as if they’d been kept warm all day. That said, 3 out of 4 of our party enjoyed their meals, though we all felt the cold.

Meal was delicious and service from Nicky was excellent. She was very helpful, friendly and polite but also seemed like she really enjoyed her job.

Darren the server was a legend. Letting my daughter choose her food on the tablet was a nice touch. Top bloke

Arrived to a warm friendly welcome, they were busy but we were found a table in a cosy corner, everything was clean but it was a very busy night, we ordered food, shared a starter on camembert until the mains arrived, food looked great, unfortunately my partners surf and turf was cold, we didn't let this detract from the visit, the staff were very apologetic and sorted the issue as quickly as possible, going as far as to remove the meal and a round of drinks from our bill, we were looked after and it was a good meal.

Food was amazing. Menu was great and varied. The only thing that let it down was the slow service.

Great night out. Food was amazing. Our server Darren was efficient and friendly. Will def go back. Our experience was completely different to our experience at another Vintage Inn where the food and service were awful. The Travelkers Rest is a must if you want good food and great service.

Lovely atmosphere bit food and service was awful. Came out with the wrong food and then proceeded to take it all back. When they eventually came back they had clearly left the one that was correct under a heat lamp. Chips tasted reheated and lamb was very dry. No update on “it’ll only be 20 mins, we made an error”. No apology or sorry for that No checkup on how food was when delivered, every other table did They did take it off the bill but come on, communicate with people. The lack of warmth and communication was more annoying that the food.

Had a fab time. Food was great (fishcakes, and then Bakewell sponge and custard). They were VERY short staffed, and it was really busy, but the friendliness and service were very good. Special shout out to Darren who kept his sense of humour throughout 👏

Great pint and friendly service with a roaring fire going, which made it super cosy. The surrounding area is great for walking with the bonus of the Travellers Rest at the end.

Such a superb experience! I booked for my little girl's 3rd birthday and I couldn't be happier with my decision. Food was exquisite (they use really good quality products) and the team, but particularly our server, Sanchia, were all amazing. They even decorated the table before our arrival and wrote a lovely birthday card for my child! 😍 A place that is 100% recommended.

Arrived a little early..we had a drink at the bar and was then seated..the food was well worth it

On arrival our table was not ready which was fine, so we had a drink, what was not fine was the fact there was no where to sit to wait the couple of minutes- unfortunate given my husband cannot stand due to his condition. I did find us a table with one seat but then I had to go looking for another which I found, but I had to lift it to the table while the barman watched ! Not ideal ! The food was delicious and a very good portion. I particularly liked the individual veggie dishes with the Sunday lunch. Disappointed we were not offered a jug of water with our meal and also when I asked for a bottle of wine to have with our beef the wine waiter did not come to the table despite my mentioning the wish for wine to our waiter. Still it saved me money!!!

Staff fantastic but food even though it looked good all 10 of our party weren't happy with meals burger burnt, beef bourguignon, wasn't fresh and the beef ribs like rubber presume their from a packet pre cooked, sea bass dry and over cooked againd out of a packet I think. The only good meal was the children's Chicken nuggets lol, also pate wasn't chicken well it didn't teast like it was. We didn't make a fuss been a horrid day with a funeral and we all just want food and a drink somewhere nice, very disappointed with food as the food didn't reflect on your prices, also no pizzas ok was told at beginning, so re ordered some prawn to find that had been cancelled as no prawn. Anyway not a good experience . Such a shame as away had good food before. 3* sorry.

Staff were very friendly and knowledgable of GF but we didn't get our mains until an hour and 45 minutes later, our starters were well over an hour after we arrived. It was kinda ridiculous. When the food did arrive, my veggies were so hard I could have built a house with them. I didn't say anything at the time because by the time we were leaving we had been there over 2.5 hours and I just wanted to get on with my life.

Food was absolutely delicious and the service from Nicky was excellent. Ive been back to the Travellers Rest many times and the food has always been excellent but service is spotty. Sometimes service is great and others not so good. I have noticed new servers so maybe things are on the up.

Fantastic food. I had the burger, which was one of the best burgers I have had in a while. The service was struggling to cope with the number of people. However the waitstaff were lovely and very accomodating. A lovely experience overall ☺️

We were served by Darren who was very attentive with fast service. We had mains and deserts which were so tasty. Lots of room for the dogs to curl up on the blankets provided. Very dog friendly with biscuits and water for the dogs. Thank you for having us

We had a very nice meal at the Travellers Restaurant on the 29 January. The food was very good and Sanchia did an excellent job of serving us. A very pleasant evening.

We had a lovely Sunday lunch at the Travellers Rest, and would highly recommend the experience. I would rate the food as 'gastro-pub'. The dishes are varied and ambitious, this is high-end pub grub, well-executed. I am steering shy of comparing it to a restaurant, because that wouldn't be a fair comparison. The service was of a high standard, the atmosphere was very pleasant, there were lots of eating areas and we were tucked away in a quiet corner. It was definitely not the weather for outdoor eating, but we have had food here outdoors before. The whole place is dog-friendly which is always a 'plus' for me (we don't have a dog, but always love to interact with friendly dogs when we can). There is car parking and when the weather is good, some nice walks in the area. We will definitely go again -full disclosure, we had a voucher which needed using up, but nonetheless, we have eaten here before and doubtless will do again. We had a roast lunch (extra gravy was provided on request) and the greedier of the pair of us (moi) had a skewer (king prawn) and added an optional second skewer (lamb) for good measure. That was lunch, and I didn't need much food for the rest of the day.

Loved the atmosphere very cosy with fireplaces etc, liked that dogs could come in. Staff were great very helpful and friendly. Didn't wait long for our food. We had blue light discount which was appreciated. I had beef bourguignon which was beautiful. My partner had chicken burger which was quite basic for the money really and you had to pay extra for bacon so he was abit disappointed.

Lovely lunch out for a family birthday. Our server Lauren was very attentive and patient considering it was a large booking which can be chaotic! Nothing was too much trouble. Food great also. The dessert was the highlight, a banana choux bun which was exceptional and a nice change from the usual options. No complaints!

Booked the Travellers Rest for 12 people for 50 th birthday , next to the ember fire gave such lovely atmosphere. Can honestly say service and food were exceptional. Manager Tanya very accommodating for our large group. Tiegan, our waitress was just so patient and kind. Food outstanding. Made the evening even more special, Thank you travellers rest.

Seriously one of the best pubs the wife, our dog and I have visited. And we do like our pubs!! Made to feel so welcome right from the start, with wonderful staff (and locals). Then to top it all, we both had a stunning meal. Do try the belly pork. The scotch eggs were also gorgeous. There were treats on tap for the dog, plus a blanket and water. We live over 50 miles away but we're going to need to find an excuse to call here again soon. Thank you all.

Often have roast lunch/dinner here, always happy to find they have most things still available later in the day on Sunday. Lovely staff, fantastic food, beautiful location.

Popped in for lunch with a friend. Due to it being after Christmas they still had a restriction on the menu and due to allergies they were unable to accommodate anything for my friend to eat. Its a shame they couldn't offer a salad. Place is very nice, nice decor and atmosphere. Staff were pleasant. Busy pub in a nice location, plenty of parking.

It took 52 mins to serve my garlic bread and an hour to serve the food. The food was small and I would not recommend coming here if you want to eat food.i got so hungry. E age 10.

We have travelled from Austrailia back home for Christmas the food was delicious and the ambiance of the fire also Darren who served us and was so happy and friendly with 5* service and food we were very happy. Well done to the chef and staff we would 100% recommend going along.

Booked for festive menu for 24th December & didn't disappoint. Best turkey dinner ever! Just enough on your plate. Starters were very tasty & dessert quite big too. Definitely go back for normal meal & will be booking for next christmas too. Will recommend to friends.

After a visit to the Millennium theatre to see Hamilton, to be able to call in for dinner and enjoy excellent food, good service with a great atmosphere right in front of a log fire, made this a special treat.

Sunday lunch with sirloin of beef, it was served cold the beef was tough, the cabbage was raw, the roast potatoes tasted horrible and it seemed like they had been reheated, on another note the staff were great, they refunded us for the food even though I asked them not too, we were really disappointed with our food as friends had recommended the place

We had a lovely morning doing brunch with Santa! The whole team were amazing getting us into the festive spirit dressed up! The brunch was delicious and hot. Santa was jolly and amazing with the kids. A lovely morning making memories!

This place is great 👍 When you walk into this amazing resturant it just feels si warm and cosy and it's awesome. The service here is also great as the guy (his name was darren) who served us was funny, and surprisingly convincing and kind. The food was fantastic, had a chicken parmigiana with a side of mac and cheese which was surprisingly big, and had really delicious bacon on top. Coming from Australia, I am used to cheap slices of ham on top, so this was a welcomed and appreciated change. Loved everything about it and me and my family are garrenteed to return next time we come to wales. Darren (hopefully you read this) you were amazing and we tried to leave you a tip but we didn't have any change left over so very sorry

Had lunch on a Friday before Christmas. We both had the beef rib bourguinon served with vegetables and mash potatoes. It was really delicious and highly recommended We had garlic bread as a side, which was quite bland. Service was efficient and friendly.

Came here when staying nearby in Cardiff as we have a Vintage Inn we visit near home in Essex. A proper dog friendly pub with great food, super friendly staff, and a nice selection of food. Throughly recommend

Our lunch time meal at the Travellers Rest was outstanding. Fantastic venue, choice of menu and great atmosphere. I cannot thank Tania and her staff enough for the care and attention given to our party of 11. Accommodating the less able members, older members and baby in our party was swift and effortless; fire exit doors were opened to allow easy access and a high chair swiftly put in place. Service was excellent and the afternoon enjoyed by one and all. Lovely memories to treasure.
