Traditional Fish & Chips in Denbighshire

We have had to go to Ruthin on a regular basis in the last month. Never stopped for food there on the way back before. I had sausage and chips, hubby had a half pound burger and chips. The chips were not the frozen rubbish you normally get in a chippy full of black nasty parts, and dry as a bone. The Burger was good quality, and the sausage were well spiced and tasty. The people serving were lovely and catered to my Dysphagia (swallowing disorder) by adding plenty of mayonnaise for me to use. not the usual couple of tiny packets. We paid around £ 15.00 including soft drinks. Instead of being wrapped in paper or polystyrene they were given to us in a box which made it easier to eat on our knee in the car. Everyone knows how much food has gone up in price in the shops so why people are complaining is beyond me and my husband. The answer is if you can't afford to pay for decent food, then go to a cheapo fish and chip shop.

I really cannot believe that someone has the nerve to charge £10 for fish and chips and £5 for 5 tiny chicken strips. Rip off merchants. Not returning here again, plenty of better quality establishments who charge a fair price. Look out Dick Turpin, you have some competition.

Maybe it's bad luck but this is amongst the worse fish and chips we ever had. Cod was overcooked and dry, batter very poor and chips were soggy. I recently moved in Ruthin, will never go back to this place for sure.

Called in here Friday night for supper, service was great and food smelt amazing all the way back to our holiday accommodation. Probably the worst fish and chips we have ever bought, chips looked as if they had been cooked before, batter was thin and not crispy at all, and Cod very dry . Won’t be visiting again in a hurry.

Friday night tea - called in after placing a telephone order, fish and chips x 3. Freshly done and tasty. Highly recommended. Cash preferred.

We have had chips from here many many times, and they have been brilliant, but tonight just fancied fish chips and peas. I have to say, probably the worst piece of fish we have ever had. About a quarter of an inch thick, the rest was batter. Won't be having them again.

I was served by the owner I think (guy in the photo), he was friendly and the haddock and chips were great, would definitely visit again.

Holidaymaker in the area and popped in on a whim. Family devoured fish and chips back in the holiday accommodation. I couldn't fault it really - was all very tasty and not greasy and was cooked fresh. Would return.

Fancied a chip supper one night and I wasn't disappointed - great service - pre-booked slot with an order number, collected efficiently from the shop - social distancing was pretty easy. The food was superb. Beautifully cooked batter and lovely chips. This is a dedicated takeawy.

I have been to a few chippies in Ruthin and this is hands down the nicest, freshly made food does take a little time but it is oh so worth it. The staff are amazingly friendly. We are regulars at this chippy and never go anywhere else. Would highly recommend.

I call to Aiden's about once every couple of weeks and the food and service is always excellent. This is the best Fish & Chip shop in Ruthin.

The chips are horrible and the chicken looks like it came out of a packet of sandwich chicken you can buy for 2 quid. This cost £5 and it's with chips because they don't do rice. For what it's worth the sauce is okay. This is the first and last time I'll be eating from here, at least the dog will enjoy it.

Perfect fried fish and chips. They also have chicken strips to be fried. Got take away and chips were salted per request with whatever sauces asked for.

If you want to pay over the odds for chips and be verbally abused whilst doing so, this is the place for you. He got my order wrong which I checked when I got in the car, I went back in to be told I had made a mistake and that’s what I ordered. I was then swore at and asked to leave and not come back. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

Always very good fish and chips here. Fresh tasting well cooked fish in a nice crispy batter. The chips are also extremely tasty and not greasy. Good food for a reasonable price you can't beat good traditional fish and chips. Only negative would be the wait but this is a small price to pay to have your food freshly cooked.

Fantastic fish and chips with friendly service. Fish was beautifully crispy. We will be back very soon.

A pesar de una ronda de 12 millas viaje hemos usado este chips varias veces en una noche de viernes.El pescado y las patatas fritas siempre son buenas. Las patatas fritas tienen un sabor bueno y no tienen grasa y el pescado rebozado es muy buena. Cada vez que hemos sido el pescado se ha cocinado. Esto puede significar una espera de unos minutos, pero vale la pena esperar ese tiempo.Tamaño de la porción es justo.Continuaremos a usar como nuestro pescado local y chips.

have had fish and chips here a few times food is good and cooked to order the most difficult thing is working out the best deals items are priced individually or there are deals on the food (a few to many in my opinion) and make it difficult to work out what you want never the less worth a visit

Always get good fish 'n chips here. Good value too. Service always a little slow but some things are worth the wait!

Does what it says on the chip paper. Fresh, locally sourced fish and the best chips in Wales. Great value.

Visitamos después del festival en servicio, comida mediocre rhuthun amontonadas por parecía como si hubiese estado allí por un tiempo y probado. Pescado y amontone actitud del personal era pobre. No te dicen que te cobran 10 p por una caja, no me importa pagar lo que yo sé. Todo lo que puedo decir es que si lo que quieres es pescado y patatas fritas en los finlandeses rhuthun es el lugar a donde ir, ya que frota la planta con este lugar. 100% mejor comida y servicio.

Nos han pasado este "fish and chips" unas cuantas veces en nuestro camino a casa y en realidad nunca paró y vaya hasta la última semana hemos perdido en tan delicioso pescado!!! Hemos disfrutado de otro pescado para nuestra cena esta noche fabulosa [y así lo hizo nuestro perro]. Recomendaría este bonito "fish and chips" si estás en la zona.

Always fresh cooked with a smile. Best chippy in town. Always a reliable stop on way home. Sometimes wait a few minutes when busy but worth it.

I visited this shop a few times over the years but went back recently all the staff had a bad attitude argueing/swearing between themselves. Sitting on the worktops very unprofessional. Food tasted burnt and over priced.

Hello all, just been there today asking for curry sauce and chips, i was then asked if i wanted small or large, i asked for large for all my family. when I got home to the other side of the town where I live i opened the cup and found gravy instead of the curry sauce I had originally ordered !!!! i then went back there to complain as a customer naturally would and was bluntly told to leave the shop and never come back plus being told at the same time I had been complaining about other food shops in the town. this was not true at all and was said in front of other people with children as well plus my son!!!! if this is called service then I doint know what the world is coming to!!!???

Lovely chips. Very welcoming. Service is fast and value for money. Nice to go there and take the food to nearby park

We love this chippy it is traditional! I loved the chips and my husband loved the fish and chips it was yummers we love it!

Visited on our way through to llandudno as children were hungry, my word, miserable staff, actually arguing with each other in front of the customers, staff playing with their hair ,eating and then serving food without hand washing ! Disgusting will avoid at all costs if passing through Ruthin in future

Really good fish and chips and just the right amount. The batter was fantastic, fish well cooked and super big crispy chips. Quite a long wait but well worth it.

I have been here a few times. Great food and excellent customer service. Food was quick and it was great value for money.

The food was freshlycooked which took a bit longer but well worth the wait. I especially enjoyed the scampi!

Went there today and was unimpressed it was very expensive, the cod was dry and the batter soggy. And why do they have to pour the mushy peas all over the chips then put the fish on top which makes it even soggier without asking if we wanted it that way!! Will not be returning!!!!

Had a fantastic portion of Fish and chips from here the other day! with a delicous portion of peas:) Also the option of having different drinks and freshly made cupcakes were a delight, sweet bags chocolates everything you would expect to find in a newsagent! very excellent idea...

I know this shop has a reputation for being one of the best in the area. As a fish and chip shop it does what it says on the tin. However the sausage I had last time were bland and nothing to write home about. The chicken on the previous occasion was dry too. On the positive side they offer a chicken curry with chips made with proper chicken curry which is lovely!

Came here with my family for day out, stopped by at the chippy all I can say is the fish and chips and delicious and are alway fresh! With people saying potatoes and fish are not expensive there are theses days! Worth visiting with your family :)

The fish and chips are always fab! Fish cooked to order which may mean that you have to wait 5 minutes but it is well worth it!The staff provaide a brilliant service and are always polite, helpful and cheerful!Well worth a visit!!

Are they taking the Mick? Fish and chips are meant to be affordable, ok fish is expensive nowadays , but potatoes are still pretty cheap right? I would not mind if the chipy was consistently good but it pretty hit and miss anyway ! Also needs a refit, I don't think it's ever been renovated!
