This is a delightful guesthouse for big group trips. Chloe and Lydia were very helpful and welcoming. We were up for a milestone birthday celebration and enjoyed a Full Scottish Breakfast before a memorable lunch for 16 of us. The surrounding area is beautiful and despite battling Storm Babet we enjoyed the unspoilt scenery. The In. Is a short drive away from the world famous Gleneagles Golf Resort and we were warmly welcomed by all the locals in the area. Highly Recommended.

We visited here last year for Sunday lunch and it was fabulous so were looking forward to visiting again. This time, we were really disappointed - there were far fewer vegetables, the beef was tough, the Yorkshire Pudding was totally flat and there was so little gravy, we needed to ask for some more. Not sure I would rush to return.

Had fantastic stay at this hotel during Easter week. Rooms spotless clean and garden rooms suitable for people with mobility issues. Cannot fault the staff who were extremely helpful and friendly. Food out of this world and plentiful. Better to book. Having ordered a bottle of red wine with dinner, we only drank half and the waitress kindly offered to get us clean glasses and carried our wine bottle n glasses to our room for us. Would recommend this hotel 100%

Would love to say we enjoyed our visit, however we cancelled due to the lack of communication from the owners and Manager. Booked for Hogmany in September and have asked for details of the festivities almost weekly , left our number and email for them to let us know what was planned once they confirmed and still to this date nothing. The website says shut for 2 weeks due to someone getting COVID and no one answers the phone or replys to messages , its 3 weeks to Hogmany with no information on what is planned in Facebook or their website leaving us with zero confidence so rather than waste Hogmany there we will book somewhere else, awful service and such a dampener for what should have been a great time of year...we will avoid at all costs...

Wonderful meal in the lovely dining room of this small Scottish hotel. We had originally tried to dine Sunday evening but they were fully booked and now I know why! We had no hesitation in booking to return on the following Thursday. A wonderful starter of homemade minestrone soup was followed in my case by venison meatballs served on a bed if spaghetti with a tomato and garlic sauce, other dishes enjoyed were the beef stew with Leffe beer and a chicken dish cooked in a delicious cheese based sauce. Sadly we had no room for desserts on this occasion! We had perused the menu over pre-dinner drinks in the lovely cosy bar area with a real fire warming us on a late autumn evening. Lydia is a lovely welcoming front of house whilst her mother works her magic in the kitchen. Highly recommended but do check opening hours particularly in the winter season and booking in advance is advised to avoid disappointment. Enjoy!

We had booked for Sunday lunch as we were staying the Duchally estate a few miles up the road. Lunch was good, roast beef and all the usual trimmings, but other options were available. Given the current Covid restrictions, the meal was served on high quality single use plates, but these were all recycled / composted as they were not plastic. As added adventure we were only able to drive to the other side of the nearby stream as recent rainfall had damaged the bridge but 2 minute walk was not and issue.

We’ve heard a lot of good things about the restaurant so we’ve decided to have a nice family lunch there We were disappointed First, the plates, cups, cutlery are all plastic where most other restaurants do serve regular dish ware Second, the selection of dishes is very limited - see the attached menus, for a non-fish dinner you’ll have one choice Thirdly, the Camembert starter looked like a version you can get at Costco and just heat it up - it was an empty breaded shell with the Camembert flowed outside

We were a party of four who booked to attend this event at the local hotel, It is under reasonably new ownership having been taken over just in excess of a year ago, being regular visitors we have watched as the owners have battled to get things running smoothly, and it has been at times fraught but we are so pleased to say they are bringing the hotel back to where it was a number of years ago, with two new chefs and the return of Connie as manager they are transforming the food and ambiance and last night they must be complimented on their efforts, it was superb from start to finish, we arrived at 6pm and the waiting staff and management greeted us with fizz and canapes, we were seated by 6.45 and our eating experience began (that's what it was, an experience) there was too much food to break it all down, suffice to say there were around 6 different starters and you could have some of each if you were of a mind, then there were several hot main meals with the chefs carving the roast pork and the crackling was to die for, there were sides of salmon etc and loads of deserts, the ceilidh band kept the music going till well into 2020, what a great way to bring in the new year, well done to one and all

I have nothing but praise for the food in this establishment, it was excellent when we visited several weeks ago, we must point out that we regularly use this hotel and yes it has had some turbulent times in changing hands recently and staff training could be doing with a brush up which we believe is in hand, however we must say that we have NEVER found the cutlery to be dirty, and the food quality we had was excellent, I had Moule Mariniere to start which was to my taste, my Wife had a sirloin steak which was cooked to perfection, and I thoroughly enjoyed the venison casserole, yes there were some problems with the service but to brutalise the place for it by someone who lives in the vicinity and purports to have eaten all over the world is sad beyond belief, we can only think there are ulterior motives, I have truly eaten all over the world and in over 150 countries, some good - some not so good as my profile will bear out and I have never been too detrimental in my opinion, suffice to say I have been in the catering trade all my life and seen some downright damning reviews but I do not like lies being told to bring down any establishment, stick to the facts!

This is our second visit to the Tormaukin in the last 2 weeks and the food was very good although the service was very slow on both occasions. The first time was a Saturday night when the place was quite full. However this time was early Monday evening with only one table in prior to our arrival. We still had to wait over 30 mins for our food to arrive. We had the balmoral chicken which really was excellent. After our main course my wife ordered ice cream which again took about 20 mins to arrive. Despite on the menu it saying you got 3 scoops of ice cream ours came with just 2 small scoops. The menu is very limited with about a choice of only 5 items for the main course. We asked about the daily specials and were told there were none despite us clearly seeing that the one other table had something not from the menu. Overall we did really enjoy the food despite the distinct lack of choice but our experience was lessened due to the slowness of the service. It is a shame as we live locally and the food we had was excellent but the bill of almost £50 for 2 main courses 2 scoops of ice cream and a couple of drinks would put us off using on a much more regular basis

On recommendation of a friend I took the detour which brought me to this old inn. Although it are now new owners who run this inn and as it has become much bigger through extensions that have been build since my companion had last been there in the 80ies, the place hasn't lost its charm. We stopped only for a few drinks and we were pleased to see that they specialise in local produce. Couple that to friendly service and nice explanations, it is certainly a place that I can recommend visiting.

We stayed here with family who had been here before, about a year ago and were told it was brilliant. Unfortunately it has changed hands since last year and was very poor. The bar staff and waiting staff were friendly & helpful but sadly the landlord is not. Every time we asked him for something it felt like an inconvenience. The food is expensive and not that special, with a limited menu. Drinks also pricey. Rooms were clean, but ours had a broken toilet seat and extractor fan didn't work. We have stayed many times at Tormaukin over the last thirty years. The last five years was a real low point with poor management and general decline in standards, so we did not return during that time. Thank goodness the place has been taken over by enthusiastic owners again. We stayed on Valentine’s night and enjoyed an excellent meal. The breakfast was also very good served by lovely young members of staff. There was a buzz about the place again and a decent fire ( although they need to remember to refuel it to keep it going all evening!) We had our dog, as we always do. We hoped to be allocated a room in the extension, in fact we did request a specific room. Unfortunately we ended up in the lodge behind the hotel. It was fine, but definitely needs a lick of paint and a more in depth refurbishment. I’m sure the new owners will be on to this when they have time. But it was warm and clean and that’s all we needed . Just so pleased the place is being cared for again and given time, we’re sure the new owners will really make a go of it. We will definitely return soon.

We’d been on the road for three solid days and having got stuck in the rush hour in Edinburgh arrived just after dark, so the warm welcome and warm room in the dog-friendly stable block was good news for weary humans and dogs alike. The room was comfortable, clean and spacious, with a spare bed and a great tartan carpet! The bed proved very comfortable, and the heating was easy to turn down on a warm night.

Considering we were the only table occupied in the whole restaraunt the food was not good. Some of the food was not fresh and looked like it was prepared much earlier and was heated in the microwave . Could not get a coffee as their machine was not working. When we complained about our evening remarking that the food was not up to the standard for the prices charged the acting manager just wasn't interested and said that it was not fine dining! Took a visiting friend for dinner as had good memories from past years. Deeply disappointed! Terrible service, poor atmosphere. Staff were clueless. No bread served with starters when this was requested (others diners had been given dinner rolls) after a considerable delay some processed sliced white bread turned up for which I later discovered I was to pay £1.00 for this special delight which remained untouched by by both of us! The food in the main wasn’t bad but in some elements extremely salty. The wine ordered was the wrong wine, Tormaukin lost out on a few upselling opportunities including this. My requested vintage was £14.00 more. Waitress didn’t really get this. No one came to see if we wanted dessert even though we were the only remaining table. Needless to say we couldn’t wait to leave, this was a waste of a taxi fare & a Saturday evening.

I can only assume that this hotel has changed hands recently. I've been frequenting it since the 1980s, and it's seen many changes of ownership over that time. I've never stayed there, but the restaurant has always been more than decent - up until my last visit. Two of my party ordered soup & sandwiches for lunch - the bread was verging on stale, and certainly unpleasant. An order of scampi was served with tartare sauce in a glass candle holder (if I'm not mistaken). Service was fairly slow, and no-one cared enough to come near our table after the order was placed, except to present the bill.

On the plus side the food was good. The chef obviously knows what he’s doing. Among the dishes we had were shepherds pie, a chicken dish and child’s sausage meal. The food standard was nearly gourmet so can’t fault that at all. Infact I’d recommend in this regard. However - portions were not large and in my case small. The staff were friendly and took our order quick enough but it took ageeeees to be served our food. In fact it was nearly 50 minutes for our mains to arrive, which is clearly not ideal. And we were among the first in the restaurant so I have no idea what caused the delay. The prices are also high. And I mean equivalent to and greater than New York and London high. I’m talking £16 - £20 a main course high. For what is an inn in central Scotland I was surprised to say the least. Our circumstances meant this was the only place we could eat at and we’d come at the recommendation of someone who’d been about 6 months ago - they were so apologetic about the food and prices being so much more fancier and expensive than had been the case then. I suppose that’s on us to have checked beforehand but even still...... We had originally came for only a drink but unfortunately despite it being a lovely day we couldn’t sit outside because there is a dreadful smell of sewage. In fairness I couldn’t smell it inside the hotel but my goodness it was unpleasant. The bar and restaurant began getting busy at about 630.

Where do I start? On arrival at 5pm told food served from 6pm (another hour to wait...) and breakfast starts 7:30 (I am supposed to be at work by 7:30). So not a good start. Given room and looked great. Opened window and immediately hit by smell of sewage. Poop tank directly across road from room. Went for meal on business £20 allowance which has always been more than enough, however today I was going to go hungry. Starters mostly £10+. Main meals £17-£26. And that’s without even chips or a soft drink. Meal size wouldn’t have fed a budgie for a chicken supreme at £17.95. So, I went out for the evening. On my return at 10:40pm I intended to have a small whisky. I was locked out. Everyone gone. Doors locked. I was trying various doors and tried calling the phone number but all I heard was reception phone ringing and nobody about. By 11:10 I was about to drive away to find somewhere for the night when another guest pulled into car park. I explained my problem as I only had a single room key. However this other guest had 3 Keys, 2 of which opened the front door. So in not the best mood I got to sleep about 2am. Decided to stay for breakfast, ordered eggs on toast and poured a coffee from filter jug on hot plate, and sat down. No sugar anywhere. All staff vanished and by the time I requested sugar coffee was cold. Breakfast arrived and toast was topped with 2 eggs with a burnt skin underside which I could barely cut through. We were booked here Mon-Fri this week and next, after 1 night we checked out!!!!! (I hope the other couple who dined last night and returned their steaks as “inedible” and opted for soup instead also write their own review...)

Breakfast is consistent and delicious, service with a smile (which makes a huge difference!) and rooms are of a good standard. Good parking too and residents lounge available.

We have drove past Tormaukin a few times tonight we stopped for a meal and I’m so glad we did, a warm welcome from the bar staff, waiting staff very clean smart and friendly, we had the Sea-bass and the Steak, followed by sticky toffee pudding and the cheese board, would recommend trying, reasonably priced lovely setting.

Stayed here for dinner bead and breakfast. Room was spacious and on ground floor nice but had to keep curtains closed as diners in the restaurant could see in. Bathroom ok but could do with updating. Evening meal was gorgous lovely plates of food. Breakfast was disappointing very greasey. Compared with the standard of the night before.

Well, what a lovely wee quiet place, this is our second visit here and just as good as the first, food is excellent!! Dinner was extremely delicious, duck and lamb was supreme!, top marks to the chef !!!, breakfast I’m afraid was a rather slow service but ok, overdone and a little dry, staff all friendly and place is very nice, quirky and clean, bedroom are spacious and very nice, will be back.

Friendly staff, good service and quality food that was beautifully presented. Drive up from Gleneagles is through a beautiful glen - well worth the trip in itself. Tasty beer and clean restaurant (we sat in the conservatory.)

We decided to vist this disaster of a restaurant for Sunday lunch. Upon arrival we were promptly shown to our table and given menus but were then "abandoned" by all of the staff for the following 20 to 30 minutes before we were asked what we wanted to drink. Although we were no more than 20ft from the bar, it was a further 15mins before the drinks arrived. At this point we ordered our starters and mains only to be told that there wasnt any sunday roast left yet, it was only mid sunday afternoon??

Meal for 2 in April with just 1 alcoholic pint cost £80. To find out our starters were charged as main courses which were over twice the price... Complete scammers and taking advantage of anyone they can. don't go here!!!

Had a wonderful evening celebrating my dad’s birthday! The menu was varied for everyone’s tastes, portions reasonable and best of all tasted delicious!! It was great to see the place busy on a Wednesday evening, sign of a great place (especially in the middle of nowhere!). Definitely on the list for future special occasions!

I've stayed here & had evening meals a number of times over recent years but the overall enjoyment is beginning to wane, I'm afraid to say. The staff range from mature but unsure types to young students who have little idea of how to provide prompt, efficient service. So, and particularly if you go as a group, be prepared for wrong drinks orders, extra drinks on your bill which weren't delivered and, if you stay DB&B;, be ready to pay a supplement for your food on check-out if you had the temerity to order a 3-course meal. (As many of the main courses are £17+, you're going to be very fortunate to find a combination of attractive food choices that doesn't come to less than £30 for 3 courses - which is very unfair when the dinner allowance is only £25 per person.)

After leaving the show jumping at Gleneagles hotel just 2 mins up the road a bit late we decided to stop for dinner here to save the hassle of cooking when we got home. I wish I had just kept driving now!.

This was our fourth stay in 5 years and all previous stays were excellent ,service , food and accommodation could not be faulted . But ...it has gone downhill drastically. We stayed in the chalet , very dusty everywhere ,and I mean thick dust ....

We stayed here in March and again in September. We felt welcome both times. Our chalet room was spacious and warm. The food was excellent and we could enjoy our meals in the bar area with our little dogs. I cannot praise everyone highly enough but I think a special mention must be given to the manager. He is an instinctive host and is constantly working to ensure that his guests are happy. He even helped me access 4G on my iPhone (I use a French provider) without me having to ask.

Stayed at the Tormaukin Hotel on a Saturday at the start of January 2018. We had one of the chalet rooms at the back of the hotel which are a decent size. The room was warm and had tea, coffee & a few biscuits. We also had dinner on the Saturday night and ordered the steak which was quite good. The small grilled breakfast was quite big and came with tea/coffee and plenty toast. Orange juice, yoghurts and cereal also available. The Saturday we were there was quite icy so we only ventured out for a short walk. Theres not much around the hotel but in better weather there seems to be good walking paths to nearby towns. A nice stay overall.

Absolutely stunning location not far from central Scotland. Just wanted a nice wee relaxing night away with my wife somewhere not too posh with a touch of class. Tormaukin Inn is perfect. Good food very friendly staff and rustic charm thrown in. So chilled and relaxed and a great base for some beautiful walks. We will definitely be back soon.

After having a very pleasant walk in Glendevon, we had an unplanned lunch in the Bar of the Tormaukin which is dog friendly. It was a cold and damp day and the bar was lovely and warm with a log fire burning. It was very quiet with only a few other people present. We both had the beef casserole with mash and winter roasted vegetables. The food was hot, well prepared, a good sized portion and overall very tasty. Staff were friendly and efficient. We've visited the Tormaukn many times over the years and while it has changed substantially, it still has a good atmosphere and serves good food. Weil worth a visit.

Just returned home after a lovely three night stay at the Tormaukin hotel in Glendevon. The hotel is in a lovely position and central to use as a base for visiting many of the surrounding great places of interest. The accommodation is very comfortable and the food is fantastic. The staff were all very friendly and couldn't do enough for all the guests to make their stay a memorable experience. We will definitely return to this hotel and will recommend it to our friends and family.

We have just celebrated a 60th birthday weekend at the Tormaukin Hotel with 13 family members and friends. Many, many thanks to the manager, Robert and all his staff (especially Mark) who provided excellent service. Even our boisterous Boxer was welcomed with open arms! Nothing was too much trouble and all our guests were so impressed with the location, standard of food and accommodation. The Tormaukin is not a five star hotel but it has a quaint charm in abundance, lovely, helpful, friendly staff, good food and drink and is a superb venue for a family gathering. Thank you all for such an enjoyable weekend.

We had a really excellent meal here with an amazing choice of over 40 gins to choose from. Booking is advisable any night and ask for a table near the fire if you're there on a wet or chilly day as it looks so cosy. We were in the conservatory area and the food was so good that it didn't matter and we hadn't thought to book. The food looks good as well as tasting good and the staff were all particularly friendly.

Our menu was a fixed price for three exceptional courses. We started with two fabulous starters presented beautifully, a cream soup with tortellini and a warm potato salad. Our entrees were red deer with sauce and a vegetarian mushroom pastry with local vegetables and lovely sauce. We had two different puddings with scrumptious ice cream to finish the meal. The service was very good and the courses arrived at an enjoyable pace. The experience was most enjoyable.

First visit here and very impressed. We had such a warm welcome when we arrived and shown to a table. Each server who attended our table was friendly and helpful. I am all about the service and this venue has aced it. A wide selection of food. We had open sandwich (smoked salmon and there was plenty) and sirloin ciabatta both were super. Lovely atmosphere too. Will be back.
