This place is amazing. Visited here with family, had the most amazing meal. Everything was cooked perfectly, nice to have open kitchen so you can see everything being cooked fresh. The ladies who work there are all superb, so friendly and welcoming. Definitely will revisit.

Came here for evening meal as it was recommended - and it was really super… Very nice to see an open kitchen with everything in excellent order and cleanliness. Just a few tables and always busy with a lovely atmosphere. Bring your own alcohol is also great. A good choice of dishes and all the ones we had were excellent both in quality and quantity. Total cost came to <£60 for 3 for 2 courses - very reasonable….Fully recommend

Lovely food, so fresh, clean and tasty. Taking your own alcohol makes it so an affordable treat too. Definitely recommended and will be back. 👍

Our local as usual. There’s nowhere better than this place the chicken is cooked perfectly only problem the customer service could have been better but other than that we love this place.

Food was superb as ever but restaurant was far too cold, everyone was sat eating in their coats. Even staff were cooking and serving in bobble hats! It ruins the atmosphere, a few cheap fan heaters would have made all the difference.

Bland. I have never eaten thai food that did not include galangal, lime leaves, lemongrass or chilli. The food had no smell or fragrance I associate with thai food. No green peppercorns, no red chili, no green chili, hardly any coconut, and no coriander. No thai basil. What did this meal have? I ordered thai green curry, pad thai, coconut rice, and a side of thai peanut vegetables. The thai green curry included sweet potato, bamboo shoots, peppers, carrots, cauliflower in a tepid watery green liquid. The pad thai was sticky noodles in brown sauce. and the thai vegetables I received, were defrosted and warmed peas, green beans and broccoli with sun pat and coconut. At least the rice was edible. The worst take away I have had in Torbay. Easily the worst thai I have ever eaten. I don't understand how you can call it thai and not include anything thai. The thai ladies cooking obviously know that most of their customers don't know the difference between frozen veg from Lidl and genuine thai ingredients.

I’ve been wanting to find a yummy authentic Thai place to order from for a long time and I will definitely be back! Pad thai has a good kick and loads of flavour unlike other places I’ve tried and the Beef Massaman curry was beautiful, really tender and the jasmine rice+spring rolls are lovely too. Can’t wait to try again. Thankyou.

Picked up a take away for my wife’s birthday treat. It was excellent. Fresh flavours that took us back to our Thai travels. Especially enjoyed the green curry cooked to our liking (Thai hot) The rice, prawn crackers, spring rolls and sweet & sour chicken were great too. Have visited the restaurant before bit 1st take away & won’t be out last . Delicious

The best thai food ever with the friendliest staff! My favourite place to eat in Torbay. So fun to take your own drinks and the set meals are a bargain with food that just keeps on coming! It's like an experience dinner too so set aside a good few hours if you're eating in with a group.

Torbay Thai was recommended by family who live locally. They also collected the order which was for a variety of starters and main courses for six adults and we were extremely pleased with their choice. Our order included a range of different meats and sauces plus a fish and two types of vegetable noodles. Everything was of excellent quality and very reasonably priced for the area. The place is a must for South-East Asian cuisine in the area!

We ordered a takeaway tonight and I can genuinely say it is easily the best Thai food I have eaten in this country. Huge chunks of tender, good quality beef in the Massaman and plenty of fresh and interesting veg in the red curry. Authentic spices and herbs clearly being used. Highly recommended. Really excellent.

Small but friendly Thai. Loads of choice. Reasonably priced. BYO drink (quite a saving!) Maximum party 12 I would say unless you book out whole place, advanced booking necessary.

Well where can I start? We’ve been here several times and from start to finish, it is excellent. The food is Amazing (we get the set meal B and you get so much for the price)! Also the staff are lovely and friendly (especially the owner). You have to bring your own drink/alcohol. See you soon :)

Post theatre and phoned for a take away to collect. Always excellent food. Phoned several times but no answer on a Wednesday evening. Web site say they are open. Decided to drive there to find it closed. Poor customer service. Phone continually rang with no answerphone recorded message to say they were closed and nothing on the web site.

We visited this quaint little restaurant while in Devon last week. The seating (for about 23 people) was full and there was a steady flow of guests picking up take-out orders. Many customers appeared to be regulars as they were greeted with hugs and smiles. You can see in the kitchen and watch each lady work together very well to provide each order in a timely manner. The service was outstanding! We had a nice chat with the owner who is genuine and caring, she made us feel welcomed and appreciated which was nice ~ the food was freshly cooked with an abundance of flavour and no additives. There were 6 people in our party and we all loved our meals! We will definitely visit again next summer when we’re in the area!

Came to Torbay Thai recently with family, the restaurant is small and homely. The service and food was excellent and the fact you can bring your own wine is a bonus.

They say good things come in small packages.... This is it! We love this place! The food is just wonderful. The restaurant is literally tiny and has a really lovely feel. We usually get takeaway and it never dissapoints. Order early if you don't want a long wait but that just goes to show how popular these guys really are. They've kept it small with the focus on the food and flavours. I'd say you can't ask for more but I regularly do

First night in Torquay for family holiday, decided on Thai takeout, did a quick search and came across this little gem, maybe seats 12, open plan kitchen, friendly staff and food to die for. If your in the area and fancy a Thai do not pass this place up!

Nous avons testé deux fois cet endroit, juste incroyable, des saveurs excellentes, très bien cuisiné. La soupe Tom Yum excellente ! Attention toutefois a ne pas demander Hot, car c est vraiment très très fort. Le personnel souriant et très sympathique. A emporter ou a manger sur place. Il faut toutefois prendre ses boissons alcoolisée avec.

We ate at the Torbay Thai last night (19th April) and it was totally lovely. The happy, friendly ladies who run this restaurant are just a delight. The food that is produced in this small cafe and kitchen is of a superb quality. Glorious flavours and a huge range of dishes. I asked for my Thai curry to be made really mild and that is just what I got, it was so flavoursome and fragrant. We shall be returning many times

Visited Torbay Thai with friends, a hidden gem in Paignton! Love Thai food but sometimes disappointed, however, here the dishes are genuine and you will definitely not be disappointed. Everything is freshly cooked to order and well worth waiting for. The food is absolutely delicious, we ordered different dishes with some rice and noodle dishes to share. Wow, the Green Thai Chicken Curry (one of my favourites) was superb so tasty, in fact all of the meal was excellent. Would definitely recommend booking as it was full for the whole of the evening. Believe they also do takeaway, but really nice to eat in. Highly recommended and looking forward to returning. This will definitely be my go-to for authentic Thai food in the future. Thank you!

I love Thai food wherever in the world I go, I've always got to get a curry. Thai red curry was gorgeous, I also got the satay chicken which was amazing!!!! It didn't just taste like the shop brought peanut sauce you get everywhere, it was full of mouth watering flavour and a little bit of spice which was lovely. Would definitely recommend!! Such good value for money and the curry had so much chicken , I couldn't even finish all of it! Absolutely gorgeous!! Also the staff where lovely! Well done ladies!!

We have been there twice with friends and twice just as a couple. We have never booked, and it’s always been later evening. The service is great, as is the choice of food. Be careful as some of it it very hot. (Chilli hot!). Well recommended and probably the best in the area.

We have been to this restaurant many times over the years. Haven't managed a sit in meal for a while, but have taken their food home recently and it's just as delicious and fresh.

I went there last night for the first time in a party of 19 people. The food was excellent and everyone was very friendly and could not do enough for us. The food is freshly cooked in full view and we were treated to some wonderful flavours and an excellent menu. I will definitely go again

After visiting Thailand in January I find it hard to find Thai takeaways that taste like the real deal. After searching for one with good reviews this take away did not disappoint. When I arrived the staff were very welcoming and efficient preparing my meal. I ordered beef masaman which was delicious and the beef just melted in my mouth. Definitely worth a visit here guys!

Having visited this restaurant on many occasions the standard never drops. We would recommend it to anyone. Unfortunately we are moving away from the area and will just have to take our wonderful memories.

What a lovely place! Can't believe that I've lived in Paignton for 33 years and never eaten here before. Our neighbours took us out to dinner for a treat - and what a treat it was! They've been several times before, so it came highly recommended. The owner, Pharadee, is a lovely host who is always smiling. The food was absolutely delicious and very good value. Better still we took our own wine and the restaurant is within walking distance, so no taxi either! Definitely going again!

Stopped in late for a takeaway and everyone was so friendly. Red and Green Thai curries bursting with authentic flavours and the right level of heat. The salad with prawns was delicious and spicy. Highly recommended!

Visited Torbay Thai on a long weekend visiting friends, what a lovely little place. The restaurant only has 6 - 7 tables so its recommended to book in advance. The restaurant reminded me of places I have eaten in Thailand before, really friendly staff, family feel, it was truly authentic Thai.

My cousin took me here on a recent visit to Devon from the US. Family run restaurant by the nicest people I have ever met who run a restaurant. You can bring you own drinks and the food is all fresh made from scratch. Absolutely hands down the best Thai food I have ever had. Highly recommend but make sure you reserve a table as this place is tiny. They also do take out.

Wowww what a treat we had last night, table for 4 family meal. Been passing by TheTorbay Thai for 10 years and this was our first visit, hard to believe we've been missing out all these years. Not used to Thai food so decided to go for the set meals "A" and "B" with Red curry and green curry options. Chance to see a variety of meals and not disappointed as the food just kept coming in this wonderful blue table ware. All piping hot and with beautiful delicate tastes. Service was very friendly with mother and daughter team waiting at tables and chef excelling in kitchen with the very best food. Bring your own wine and only charged £1 per bottle corkage and not an expensive night out as our bill for 4 with 2 sweet dishes was on £76.

Vino a Paignton en vacaciones y decidimos que me antojo tailandesa. Imagínate mi sorpresa cuando entramos aquí y tenía esta comida increíblemente auténtica cocina tailandesa. Teníamos un curry verde de vidrio, fideos fritos con verduras, Ha Mok Pla (estrella del espectáculo) y rellenas alas de pollo, todos estos para compartir. Comida maravillosa. Todo estaba hecho a la perfección.

Torbay Tailandés es uno de esos lugares que estoy no me gustó para revisar porque puede hacer que sea más difícil conseguir una mesa en este pequeño restaurante familiar.

Este restaurante local para llevar mini Thai y es realmente fantástico. está dirigido por una señora encantadora tailandés y su personal son todos los tailandeses. El restaurante es muy pequeño y un poco como un cafe con gente entrando y saliendo todo el tiempo para recoger comida para llevar, pero la comida es estupenda, pero si quieres ordenar comida para llevar en las horas pico hacerlo temprano.

Recommended by a local land lady, she was not wrong the food was amazing and plentiful and a hidden little gem in Paignton. The staff work so hard and are so lovely, we were all made really welcome there was no rush in eating our meal. If you love Thai food this place is a must.

I've been recommended to Torbay Thai many times, but it's always busy. After my visit I know why it's always busy. Although the restaurant is not fancy and the tables are squeezed in a bit, the welcome you receive is very warm. They don't serve alcohol, but you can take your own so it's not an issue. If you haven't remembered your wine or beer, there's a Tesco across the road to quickly get some . I had the red curry with coconut rice and to be honest it's the best I've ever tasted. I will most definitely be coming back here as there's so much more on the menu for me to try. 10/10.

I love it here, just ordered a takeaway for this evening, I have been using this takeaway since I was 16 I'm now 28. It's always lovely food, the ladies (think the owners family run business) are always very sweet. The chicken skewers are so delicious. Everything is so fresh and tastes homemade. The restaurant is only small which can't be helped but always relaxed atmosphere in there and can take your own alcohol (there is a Tesco across the road) thanks, christina

I continually come back to this place, again and again, it is the best Thai I have ever had. BYOB which means £1 per bottle, they serve soft drinks, just no alcohol. The women that work here are so great, welcoming, warm and caring! They make the whole experience so much better. There is a minimum of £10 per person, but you can ask to take any leftovers home which is great and they don't mind at all. It can be hard for me, as a vegan, asking what I can eat, but they were so accommodating, they knew everything that I could have and didn't make me feel like it was trouble at all.I have had the green curry with bean curd and it's always great, I also recommend the vegetables with satay sauce, the satay is so good! My boyfriend had a beef curry which he loved. If you're into tea they do a beautiful jasmine. The food is always so fresh and flavourful.The atmosphere is lovely, it's a very small room so it can get quite loud with the kitchen noises and the people, but there's always smiles on everyones faces. And you get a wonderful vibe which is so hard to find in a restaurant, let alone one with great food too.Book in advance as this place fills up so fast! And if you have any dietary requirements (or just fussy), don't be afraid, I am sure this place would suit anyone.

As a family we always come here to celebrate birthdays. It's such a lovely, welcoming and friendly environment. The food is amazing, fresh, tasty and a large amount! The service is tremendous and the small proximity of the environment makes it feel more homely than a restaurant, you really appreciate your company more due to the close contact. I can't rave enough about this place, I'd recommend above and beyond.

By the end of the evening we were the last customers - the staff were sat at a table eating their supper and the cook was clearing up in the kitchen. We had good-natured conversation that made us feel as if we were part of a group of family and friends. We ordered several different dishes and tried each others. The stir-fry tiger prawns were particularly nice. A small venue, with a big welcome!

Don't usually write Trip Advisor Comments but Torbay Thai is absolutely Excellent. Food Excellent, Service Excellent, Staff Excellent! Chicken Satay is a recommend for sure. Overall very impressed with Torbay Thai and think you'd be stupid not to visit them, I can assure you that you wont be disappointed :D

Admittedly the plan will not be to everyone's taste: very small, hot, loud(because it's full most of the time, which is on the other hand actually a good sign), dated decor, tiny toilet. But the food...oh the glorious food! I come here every year on a business trip and have the best night out. The variety is unreal, the meals authentic, the service very attentive. Don't be put off by the shabby exterior/interior. What really matters is the food! Would whole-heartedly recommend and will most certainly go again.

A great experience, lovely people cooking and serving lovely good value for money meals. The menu is extensive for what is a small establishment with limited table space.When i went in with my friend there was no charge for bringing and opening our own bottles as they are not licensed. Quantities were very generous, served in unusualy decorative bowls with pre-warmed plates, so much so that we had to ask for conversion to takeaway.This resaurant is situated just behind the 'Preston shelter' bus stop which is ideal for visitors intending traveling towards Torquay. The last No12 bus leaves at 23.40 from Monday to Saturday and the last Gold service is 7 minutes past midnight.

Torbay Thai used to be an amazing place to eat but not anymore. After eating a combination of chicken and king prawn green curry I have been awake all night with stomach cramps and diarrhoea. The meal was a take away and the king prawns tasted a little different. In hind site I should have stoped eating. The sauce was at first tasty thick creamy but full of fat. The owner spent more time talking to my partner repetedly saying "I know you" when it had been the first time he had ever been in the shop. Then another couple came in and she kept saying the same to the male partner of that couple. Strange but maybe it's just her way of making conversation. I would not recommend Torbay Thai and will never go there again. I don't ever want to feel this Ill again.

Both eating in and take always are fabulous. It's a bit rough and ready, you take your own wine and can see the ladies cook , but the food is typically Thai, great squid, yellow and green currys, the chicken satay and ribs are great and our kids loved the coconut rice.
