Whole gluten-free fish and chip menu! Separate gluten-free fryer which is amazing for coeliac and really friendly staff who checked all the ingredients when I mentioned other allergies. Would highly recommend going here if gluten-free

This is the best chip shop we have ever been to, and we have been to a few! Chips are thick, golden brown and not greasy or soggy, exactly how chippy chips should be! Great menu choices, really fair prices and chips portions are huge! The staff are also very warm and friendly and can’t do enough for you. Highly recommend visiting this chip shop.

On a busy night it’s a mad house but the result is well worth the wait. Most of the food is cooked to order. The largest fish doesn’t fit in the box it’s that big. The chip portions are massive. The staff are friendly and great entertainment.

The quality of food was fabulous tonight. We are on holiday with a large group of scouts, so pre-ordered and nothing was too much trouble. Our food was ready to collect, hot and fresh. The cod bites are amazing - definitely a favourite! Highly recommended.

Gluten free fish and chips are still a rarity but becoming less so - this one has a whole menu to choose from which is brilliant. Its right at the top of the High Street, hence the name but there is plenty of parking nearby and they even have some tables outside if you don't fancy taking it home to get cold. The batter is nice and crispy and to be honest you can't tell the difference between the gluten free and proper batter - some can be quite soggy. The portions are generous, the prices are good and the staff are lovely - what's not to like!

The best fish and chips I’ve had in a long time. The batter was light and the chips perfectly cooked. The gluten free options were fab and again perfectly cooked. The staff were realistic friendly and very accommodating. I would definitely recommend this wonderful chippy

Would of been 5* but no saveloy’s!! Visiting the area due to work, I’m from the south UK. Staff are super friendly and provide good banter even if they don’t have saveloy’s! 😂 You can pay by card and even pre order through the website which is a bonus. As for the food, the chips are really nice with decent portions, they have two choices of curry sauce, I really liked the fruity one, probably the nicest curry sauce I’ve ever had! Fish was very good, I had haddock. The drinks are cold (which they should be) no warm cans here. They also provide wooden cutlery so you don’t have to struggle with a chip fork. 9.5/10 Highly recommend.

Good fish and chips, with good sized portions, what's not to like? We had a medium fish and chips which was enough for 2 of us. Only down side is the portions of gravy/peas etc could be a bit bigger.

Excellent, friendly service. Freshly cooked food. Fish is cooked with the skin removed before battering. Good sized fillets. Good quality potatoes. The portions are generous. Excellent value for money. We ate at the table outside the chippy. There is a co-op across the road for puddings/drinks if you wish. There is a car park down the road with toilets. Ideal for visitors to the town.

Great chippy with freshly cooked ingredients. The EATING AREA IS OPEN despite the TRIP site notice that says it isn't. The regular cod was a bit indifferent tbh... but batter was lovely, crispy and nicely uneven. Good texture on the inner. However, the chips saved the day. Good spuds. A smooth lightly crisped outer and a buttery, fluffy core. Thought we probably wouldn't finish the portion but between two, we polished 'em off. Left not feeling over stuff though the offering was substantial and so good value for money. Staff excellent, friendly and polite. Plenty of condiments.

I echo all the reviews about large portion size, the great staff, and excellent chips. Unfortunately, on this takeaway visit, the batter on my large cod wasn't cooked through. Shame.

During our stay at Grove of Narbeth, the highlight of the visit was the seven course taster experience at the Fernery. After being warmly welcomed by Luke, offered drinks, we were seated in the plush restaurant, and the delights followed. The dishes, the craftsmanship, the ingredients (the chef is obviously a genius), the enthusiasm from all the staff describing each dish, their sommelier Cathryn's expert choices and advice - was about as perfect as any taster experience we've enjoyed. Each course was presented beautifully, the choice of ingredients varied in a way that wasn't at all repetitive. The "Grove Vegetables" following fresh breads was immediately impactful with freshness and wonderful kale sauce with hints of seaweed. For "The Love of the Sea" with lobster on a tomato base again fresh, light and so tasty - as well as beautiful. And on it went with Sea Bass and a Beef dish to die for. Just outstanding presentation and flavours. As we moved towards dessert we were presented with “Farmesan” a cheese a hard Welsh cheese that resembels Parmesan - aged for over 3 years. They aerate the cheese with cocoa butter and serve with a pepper sorbet and black olive. Just wow. And to finish "Hedgerows", a delightful dessert so multi-layered it's hard to describe. The overall flavour seemed to present Christmas and carrot cake on a bed of meringue. What's not to love? In conclusion, probably the finest taster menu we've ever had (and we've had quite a few). Mostly because of the menu, ingredients, execution, presentation and, of course, taste. But also because of the team - from the maitre d, to the sommelier, to the procession of smiling, enthusiastic waiters. Simply superb. Cannot recommend highly enough.

We visited Charlie’s Restaurant for the very first time yesterday and it certainly didn’t disappoint. As soon as I walked in I felt instantly ‘at home’ .. the beautifully designed decor was not only a feast for the eyes but felt incredibly cosy too. With it being December it was dressed for the season, with two beautiful Christmas trees adding to the festive vibe. We had Sunday lunch .. my husband and grandson had the beef and I opted for the chicken. The ‘Molly Parkin’ parsnips were absolutely gorgeous and made the perfect accompaniment to our meals .. which were all absolutely delicious! I would highly recommend this delightful little restaurant! Claire Goodchild
