Top Chippy in Dumfries & Galloway

Recently had a great meal from the Top Chippy, great food, good price and pleasantly served. Everything was freshly cooked and was of the highest quality

At £8.80 the large haddock supper was pricey and I had to wait a good while for it too. It's a popular spot though and it might have been better to sit in and dine. I was under scrutiny from various sharp-beaked birds as I sat on a bench outside and ate my food.

If we go into a Fish and Chip takeaway and see fish in the warming zone we go out and elsewhere. Here the fish is done fresh and worth the wait. Batter is crispy and potatoes are cooked perfectly, well done all of you.

This place is fantastic every thing is made fresh, we had the fish and chips and they were to die for then sat over by the pond to eat them. The shop is very clean and modern, and if you don't mind the 10 minute wait you will get the best suppers going.

Everything cooked to order, really tasty food. Opposite carpark in centre of town. Friendly service too

The fish and chips are excellent, you like me might have to wait a bit while they fry them up but it's worth the wait for fresh tasty fish and nice crisp chips.

Lovely evening after a long drive down from the north west highlands, so thought fish and chips by the harbour would be perfect. On finding the fish and chip shop by the harbour closed on a Monday, was delighted to find another busy chippy further up the hill. Busy must be a good sign, right? WRONG ... the wait was over half an hour and the fish was overcooked, horribly greasy and of very poor quality. The less said about the chips the better. Most ended up in the bin and we were left still hungry, but with a lasting taste of grease, unmet hopes and wasted money. After an amazing highland trip, we stopped off for two nights in Dumfries and Galloway - shame that this was our highlight food memory! With two starving, tired children after an 8 hour drive, complaining was not really an option.

Great place for a kebab or any deep fried stuff. Cheap and cheerful. Place is nice and clean. Staff are very friendly. The Sausages are deep fried in batter - which will baffle any passing English, but the Kebab is fandabbydozzie as they say in the area.

Good pizzas. Good wraps. Good kebabs. Prices fair. Not cheap.
