Tonkotsu Finsbury Park in Islington

My mum and I visited Tonkotsu just before Christmas for a catch up dinner. We had a lovely meal, they were able to tailor the dishes for our dietary needs and all of the staff were absolutely lovely. In particular, Shama was so friendly, efficient and warm and was also happy to chat when the restaurant wasn’t busy. She’s great and such an asset to Tonkotsu

So nice - such a great place, Tonkotsu is incredible - chilli oil just incredible. I don’t know how they make those damned half eggs but they’re doing something right. People who work here are so nice and so friendly. Literally everyone in this restaurant is smiling. This place could single handedly drag me out of a depressive episode. Shout out Sian she was so nice - restored my faith in humanity. Being here is like watching love actually on Christmas Eve. Don’t spare yourself the joy any longer. I’m so serious. I just have so much love for my fellow humans when I’m in here. Unmatched vibe. If Meghan and Harry came here with Charles they’d resolve their beef by the time the mains arrived. If Sylvia Plath had frequented this restaurant she’d still be with us today.

Great food, good service, clean and pleasant. Booked a table through First table. Would return. The food was tasty, good portions and served quickly.

The place is very well located. Very friendly quick service. Great food. Pan fried edamame was a first, but very tasty. I had the ramen with no broth. It was delicious Great gyozas and all the food was very delicious. I would,really recommend,this place. .

Was such a. Wonderful lunch. The set menu is lovely and a small price and you get a large portion definitely worth it. Lee. Our waitress was so insightful and helpful with the menu. And definitely try the caramel Guinness ice cream!!!

Great experience today, i had a pork gyoza which was great and i recomend, and the chilli prawn ramen,i will comeback for sure, the staff is friendly and recommended some good food, next time i will ask for something different, i'm sure i will enjoy it

Rather surprised to see another ramen shop (chain) opened so close to another established independent ramen shop just around the corner. For full disclosure, I am a big fan of Tenmaru. Go there! Having said that, I am willing to give it a try since I have been to Tonkotsu before (long time ago) and we are in after all a capitalist society. Ordered the original signature Tonkotsu ramen. Verdict: tasted too creamy and oily, and a bit lacking in flavour, despite being tonkotsu. Upside: sake featured prominently in their drink menu. The one I tried, I like. Competition is a good thing. Let's see how this all shakes out.

Tonkotsu chain could be a hit & miss. This branch unfortunately is a miss at the moment. Well, it opened on 22 January, so I hope they will improve. It's an airy, colourful place and the staff is friendly and welcoming. However the servers and the kitchen are not coordinating well. The Ramen bowls were just sitting at the counter and getting overcooked. There is nothing more awful than eating overcooked Ramen. Ours were sitting at the counter for more than a minute and when they arrived, they were overcooked. Also when our order was taken, we were not asked if we wanted the noodle hard or soft. We didn't have time to send them back, so we grudgingly ate them. Also pork in Kakugiri was too fatty; we had much leaner one before. I hope they will improve their service and pay attention to details.
