As soon as we entered SA SA, we felt welcome and comfortable. We didn’t feel rushed ordering our food and the restaurant was aesthetic and clean. The staff were lovely and the food beat expectations. Visited this lovely restaurant on a Saturday where we reserved a table for 5.30pm. They said we could only have the table for 1.5 hours which is a standard time for eating. We ordered the following: 1. Uncle’s gyozas (Pork) 2. Nori Tori Karaage 3. Salmon Sashimi (4 pieces) 4. Tuna Sashimi (4 pieces) 5. Wagyu Jalapeño sushi rolls (6 rolls) 6. Volcano sushi rolls (8 rolls) - Salmon, Prawn, Avocado and cucumber) 7. 3 bottles of Asahi beers The gyozas were cooked to perfection. The Karaage was served differently to how I usually have Karaage but the presentation was great. It was only served with a slice of lemon where usually there would be a side sauce. However the Karaage had the right amount of flavour so we did not need the sauce. The sushi rolls were delicious! The jalapeños were not that spicy as we thought. All the flavours really went well together! The staff were very attentive, warm and welcoming. The price seems about right based on the quality of food and the location. Tasty food, great atmosphere and friendly staff. We would definitely come back again! Thank you SaSa for a great experience 🤤

The food was fantastic and had really nice flavours. The service was also good. However I have to give an overall low rating based on the behaviour of one of the staff members. My partner and I went there last week and I had asked over the phone whether they do anything for a birthday like a candle or special dessert (as many places do), to which the staff member made some strange remark about it ‘not being like TGI Fridays’. Not quite sure what a sushi restaurant has to do with TGI Fridays? Later on after we had finished our meal but not our cocktails and still hadn’t asked for the bill, the same staff member loudly said to a walk in couple that our table would be ready soon so they could just sit there. This made us feel rushed and unwelcome, given we had only been there for about an hour, so by no means overstaying our time. It’s a shame this staff member’s behaviour ruined an otherwise lovely experience.

Exceptional. We had an incredible meal here - every single dish completely wowed us. Having come back from Japan recently we were missing some high quality Japanese food and this definitely hit the mark. I recommend trying everything! What made us truly fall in love with it was its story - it’s a small, family-run restaurant that has been there for 18 years. Recently the son and his girlfriend redid the whole interior and it looks amazing. All the waitstaff are really friendly/accommodating and it has that cozy family vibe but with an upscale menu. Super warm atmosphere - highly recommend for dates and family meals! Really couldn’t recommend this place enough! We feel it’s an undiscovered gem and will be back often!

I’m mixed - I ordered the seared nigiri - nigiri and maki themselves were very well done. I’d highly recommend - especially the seared salmons pieces. The only thing that drags down the rating for me was the soy sauce - it was a heavily salted soy sauce and once you dip your sushi in there is zero chance you could taste anything else. Wasabi also a tad bit of a disappointment to an otherwise very worth going sushi place.

At first glance one could walk straight past SASA. Although SASA has a nice exterior / interior decor, the lack of external menu could lead one to dismiss and find another restaurant….which is exactly what we did! That said, after walking to another local venue we decided fortunately to return and give SASA a go. Fortunately for us, this was a great decision. All the dishes were stellar and well priced - tempura (ebi and veg), goyza, karaage, sashimi etc. Service was super prompt and polite, refreshing for Islington. Already planning our return.

Amazing food. Everything was delicious and exceeded expectations. There wasn't a single dish I couldn't imagine myself eating every day. Staff were really friendly and delightful. They were also very clear about the 1.5hr seating time on weekends (fri-sun). I'd say this is probably a bit short though as the rate at which food comes to the table is rather relaxed. This meant we were both hitting that time limit and eating dessert at the same time and felt a bit rushed to leave. Totally understandable but maybe needs some fine tuning on the food to table times in consideration of this. Saying that, I'm absolutely coming back here again and you should too.

5 stars for food, it never disappoints. The menu changes fairly regularly, though the best dishes never get replaced. I must say that the service is not great though. I have had dinner here 10+ times in the last year, more if you count take out orders. And while the food is always excellent, service has always been so-so. Specifically, (1) dishes are brought out at weird times. Every time I go, I specially ask them to bring everything out as soon as its ready, and clarify that I am not sharing my dish so they need to bring things out together. Every single time, they bring only one dish. I / who I'm with has to eat it alone, and once done, they bring out the next one. It's very annoying because I am aware this is an issue and so many times I tell the waiter / waitress and still, it does not happen. Maybe its the language barrier, I'm not sure but it would be great if the restaurant improved this because it makes meals less enjoyable. (2) the staff are not great at giving advice on the menu. I often ask what do you recommend if I like this and not that, and they never have been able to give me an answer. This second is less important than the first, but if you would be nice if the waiter / waitresses has a better understanding of the menu and could help you order, because so much looks good! I will continue to come back for the food, but I think I'm going to stop giving a tip unless something changes because it's starting to feel like they just don't care.

Had a lovely meal and the sushi was fantastic. The orange wine was lovely and a must try! We had the ebi tempura, edamame & crispy salmon to start. The crispy salmon was fantastic and a definite must have. For mains we had the jumbo & wagyu beef rolls along with the sasa selection which were all lovely. We had a fantastic waiter and waitress to start, the waitress even gave my partner a small glass of sake on the house as he was really interested in trying it which was a lovely personal touch. The only thing that let our experience down was our final waiter, we knew the table was needed back for 7:30, we had been there since 6 and were aware of this from the start however, we had half a glass of wine left each and had spent £140, the waiter was pushy about us leaving and did not offer us the bar area to finish our wine, he also checked our wine bottle and was really unprofessional and quite frankly rude. This really soured our experience and I hope this was just an unfortunate one off as the rest of the staff were fantastic along with the food and we would love to return. I am not naive to know it was a Saturday night and tables are booked but there should have been an alternative option of the bar to reside to as there was a leak on our table next to us clearly limiting their space for the evening - again we were completely unbothered by this! This could have been handled better and I would have no doubt rated this 5/5.

I will be thinking about this sushi for truly the rest of my life. Sasa sushi is located in Angel Islington, and is family run for more than 15 years. My partner chose this as it was very easy to access from the tube. We made a reservation on their website and got in a little early. Our server Tommy was so kind and so knowledgeable. We started off with Sho Chiku Bai NIGORI which was a cold unfiltered sake. It was so silky smooth and tommy told us of a common tradition of how to drink the first taste of sake to honor those who came before US. He also gave us amazing recommendations. We got 2 rolls each and felt like we were satisfied not to the point of being bloated which is always the best. The rolls we got were Dragon Eye roll, Rainbow roll, Crunchy Tuna Roll, and the Volcano Roll. One other thing to mention is they are so accommodating to gluten allergies. They helped my partner know which rolls could be modified. Everything was so so so fresh and truly incredible. The ambiance is cozy and perfect for a date night or after work dinner. Thank you Tommy and everyone for an amazing experience and the best food.

Truly one of the best sushi I've ever had so far in London. I'm from NY and have pretty high standards for sushi. I've tried so many places in London so far, and they always get it wrong with the rice/fish ratio. Always too much rice, and the fish quality is subpar, rolls uninspiring. Sasa though gets it right every time and the kimchee mayo they use is so so delicious. The spicy scallop roll is delicious and this is the only place I can find that serves it. I was absolutely blown away by the food - so much so, I would now consider myself a convert. There was so much flavour and you could tell that the ingredients used were of the highest quality. The lychee cocktail that had recently been added to the menu when I went was absolutely incredible and full of flavour. Whilst the restaurant is on the smaller side, I would describe this as quite intimate. The establishment has a lovely buzz from the chefs creating the fantastic dishes amid the background conversations of other customers. Lovely fresh tasty food, I had the Sasa set and a Kirin, hoping to then try something else from the menu. Sadly I was too full so settled for a glass of plum wine. Friendly staff, and I will definitely be going back next time I'm in the area.

Japanese cuisine at its finest. Food was beautifully presented & authentic. Decor was extremely cool and minimalistic. Service was very attentive and friendly, can’t wait to come back again very soon. Recommendations: The Sasa sushi set but everything we had tonight was delicious.

The best tofu I've had (Agedashi tofu). The rainbow sushi was also amazing!

Beautiful decor and atmosphere inside, food was great and not as expensive as I'd expect for the area and quality. Staff were all extremely helpful and friendly and would've gone back the next night if they were open on Sundays

There are good sushi restaurants in London, but at this price point? This is seriously the best one! It's so good that I forgot to take photos. We ordered a few rolls because we're not too hungry but we devoured it because it just tasted amazing, the hamichi was my favorite and my friend loved the fried softshell crab. Will definitely revisit for their Nigiri😍

This restaurant is a must do. The food is exquisite. Each dish is delicately and freshly seasoned yet has so much flavour. Outstanding were rock shrimp tempura , ebi shumai (prawn dumpling) , wakame goma (seaweed salad with sesame) , wagyu beef skewers,. then we had the kosho ponzu sashimi ( thinly sliced scallop in amazing citrus marinade of kosho( chilli condiment) and tobiko (like caviar) yuzu (wonderful citrus fruit) was absolutely out of this world. the sushi looked amazing but as I am not a rice fan I stuck to the amazing alternatives. The restaurant itself is calming and the chairs and decor very minimal Japanese. the staff are absolutely lovely - the restaurant is family owned apparently. They are all very welcoming and attentive. They do a citrus margarita which is to die for - yuzu again. and sake very good too. I would eat here every day if I didn't live in Berkshire!

Super fresh and delicious fish. Rice just right in terms of texture and temperature too.

10/10. Fantástico.

Delicious tapas, nice wine et great atmosphere. For sure, that's not fine food but the products are good and the cooker is talented. Whatever, I love thise place!
