Tong's Dynasty in Dundee City

For some reason couldn’t change the stars to 3 from 5 but would give it 3 for dealing with mistakes. The food here is very good but unfortunately when they make a mistake they don’t seem to know how to deal with it. Years ago we stopped coming here because too often our order was wrong with no offer of free prawn crackers or free bottle of juice and tonight one of the orders didn’t arrive with the boiled rice and we returned which was quite an inconvenience to us to have to come back with no offer of compensation so unfortunately this has happened too often and for the last time for us as we will be going elsewhere from now on. Yes the food is good but your staff need to learn that when they make a mistake if they are taking the full price from a customer it is courtesy to offer some compensation for mucking things up it’s just common courtesy and good business management.

Lovely Chinese food always fresh ingredients,a lot better than you get in other take outs, large portions, Delivery always on time and delivery man is lovely, I don't know why this chinese takeaway doesn't have far far better reviews and I'm hard to please with takeaway, would highly recommend

Ordered here recently, phone order, asked for a chicken curry with no onions with extra peas and mushrooms and boiled rice and a mushroom curry with extra peas and chips. Cost was £23.90. Got home we had 1 chicken curry and 1 chicken satay veg thing. I am vegetarian so couldnt eat the chicken satay thing. Phoned up to queery price and was told as we added veg it basically added £3 on each curry. Told it had been a mistake from girl on order and had been 2 chicken curries... which was strange as there were not 2 chicken curry dishes... No offer of recompense or anything just "bring it back and we will change it" we live 15 mins away and I had nightshift. Was supposed to he a treat before work.. turned into a nightmare and zero help. Will NOT be back and have been going there for about 8 years sporadically. Joke!

Tried this place for the 1st and last time .Got my delivery nearly 2 hours later ,food was lukewarm, had to put it in the air fryer,doesn’t taste that great either,£36 down the swany .

Just don’t! Shocking service, over 2 hours for delivery. Don’t even phone them as they will dismiss you and hang up. Loved the food there but won’t be back.

Ordered online at 18.05, still no food over 2 hours later. Called Tongs twice to be told that “we are busy” and hung up on. I suggested that they should not take on so many orders if they could not fulfill them, hung up on again. Shocking customer service. 😡

Disappointed with a 2 hour wait which was initially described as 1 hour. Food not hot, missing items and driver didn’t have any change so forced a tip from wife. Cash only business which is “unusual “in this day so when driver can’t give change then service clearly doesn’t deserve a tip. deserves a poor review. I can only say I will use other take away

Ordered Chicken and sweetcorn never seen a dish like tasted as bad as it looked as well always in a nice sauce elsewhere ! Won’t be back !

Easily the worst Chinese take away I have ever had. Ordered black bean chicken that was completely bland, sweet and sour was soggy with no vegetables, chow mein had no sauce with tiny noodles which were dry as placed under chicken. Salt and pepper chicken wings snapped as I was eating them, gave up after the first 3. The fried rice was more like boiled rice was no taste. I can’t believe how bad this food was, how is this place even open. Complete waste of £47 😡

Was craving some chinese, decided to check this out and honestly surprised how nice the staff was and the food was really nice too. They were also playing k-pop which is super cool, they played Stray Kids absolute bangers. Will definitely come back.

I ordered a munchy box from there earlier today and it was fab. The service was great and the food delicious. I will be coming back again in the future :)

Arrived over 2 and a half hours after ordering, shocking

The food was lovely but our delivery pick up time was 7:10-7:25 we arrived at 7:20 and we didn’t get our food until 7:50 why give a pick up time and not stick to it. As we sat waiting people came in and ordered food and received their food before us we didn’t have a massive order it was 2 meals. No time management at all.

Completely agree with the below reviews of poor quality. Chicken chow mein was the worst we have ever had. Chicken must have been out a can, no sauce/gravy. Bland tasteless food. Will never be back.

Lovely food while family enjoyed. Would definitely use again. Only down side was that they didn't have plates to give and being across the road from a hotel maybe something to lookin to. Instead of charging an extra 20p a tub. But was lovely. And would use again.

Absolutely awful food I asked for hot sauce and sent a tub that resembled dish water and not a hint of spice. Called the take away to be told I'm wrong I tasted and tastes of nothing(I do know my taste buds). There was no way they wanted to sort this out and the person I spoke with rude and unhelpful. £15 in the bin. The only person that was a decent person in this whole process was the delivery guy. He was pleasant and friendly. Never again will I order food from Tongs Dynasty such poor quality and such poor service from chef and front of house. AVOID

My wee daughter loves the beef chow mein and the gravy that comes with it! The staff are very friendly and that made my day:)

It's not the fact that there was anything wrong with the food. It was the fact that we didn't get any food. Overly priced was a turn off.

Horrible food. I ordered a tofu chow mein with mushrooms and curry sauce. The noodles were like the cheap ones you get in Asda. No flavour to the curry sauce and about 1 whole mushroom in it. What a waste of £12. Just vile.

Ordered chicken and prawn in black bean sauce with chips. There was one king prawn in the dish and very little chicken, the sauce was lumpy and had a powdered texture, really awful sauce. The chips were rock hard and were a strange green colour, the whole thing inedible. Money down the drain

Unacceptable service. Prices change every time we order food. For plain nudels and curry sauce, according to menu, should be 4,50, we had to pay 8.50. Last time we ordered.

Lovely customer service, Anna was really helpful and has great banter. Food was LUSH. My child Sebastian had a lovely time waiting as anna put Harry Potter on the television for him❤️

Phoned order in due to covid, advised 20 minutes wait outside on arrival, 1hour passes waiting outside I knock on the door ask if my food was ready, surprise surprise it was sat behind the till, walked the whole 2 minutes back to my accommodation, and no surprise it was cold as its probably 45 minutes old buy now, any way bit the bullet and took a bite, the worst Chinese food I've ever had, so poor I can't describe it better than dog poo, Advice to restaurant, get ur staff to check food goes out on time, and may get a new chef, highly disappointed 😠

Ordered Chow Mein house specials, on their website it was priced at £6:50 each. When I collected our meal it had gone up to £16:45 for the two meals. When I question the increase I was told “ Oh the prices have gone up “ The meal was very good and hot but they need to update their website prices. Probably try elsewhere for our next carry out.

Ordered House Curry or Special Curry with fried rice. Every Chinese takeaway seems to use the same size plastic containers so if you have them in your house, you'll know the portion size. The curry was absolutely unremarkable. The chicken was cut in uniform pieces and had almost no texture and little taste. The beef felt like it had been pulverised and lacked any real taste. The pork was about the best bit but still completely unremarkable. The curry sauce was bog standard stuff. The fried rice contained no traces of egg whatsoever. Covid safe service was friendly and polite. I won't go back.

Dreadful Service! Actually like the food but constant problems with orders and customer service is literally non existent. Have had instances of food missing from order in the past and on two occasions now bag was so tightly packed that they’ve burst the portions of curry sauce. Final straw was when I phoned to complain about burst sauce for the second time, and asked them to send a replacement out. They wanted me to pay their delivery driver £4 to fix their mistake. Then when I eventually gave in and went down to collect, they accused me of tipping the bag and spilling the sauce. I never got the replacement. Don’t bother with this place unless you like going out twice in one night and end up having to reheat your dinner. Or you could always pay their delivery driver £4 to fix their mistake. Joke! There are plenty of other good quality Chinese Takeaways that will get your order right first time every time and manage to pack a bag properly. Take my advice and use one of them instead!

Beware, they are very lax on food allergies. Ordered fried rice without egg, made it very clear, when got home rice was full of egg, could be very dangerous for someone one day because they have done this to other people with allergies also

One off the best chinese in dundee always delivered with in an hour or couple mins over but well worth the wait... As for the bad reviews i have seen can honestly say nonsense all staff are polite and the food is excellant i love the spring rolls the plain and the prawn one

Love the lemon chicken from here. I find it very tasty and it comes in a nice very generous portion as well and is a favourite. I also like the king prawn satay as well. The mixed starter platter which I have had on occasions is also very nice.

Fiancée and I had 2 portions of fried rice but hers had prawns as im allergic to them. Within minutes of eating my fried rice I was violently sick with the allergic reaction of prawns having been cooked with my rice 🤮🤢

Turbo service, went to the counter and food was ready within minutes. Massive portions and the beef fell apart in your mouth, very tender and soft. Had beef cashew nuts, very nice.

Love the deep fried shredded chicken and 5 spice chicken.

Great food but at least once a month on collecting my food it’s wrong. I’m the one that has to go back up to fix and there’s not even a sorry or free prawn crackers Constantly changing staff at front desk and have no clue 😬😬

Had a takeaway from here tonight and can honestly say it is the worst chicken chow mein I have ever had. Gloopy sauce on the top and thin dry noodles underneath, it was vile!

Tong's Dynasty is hands down, the best chinese food in Dundee. It never disappoints and the 5 spice chicken is awesome.

One star is too many for this place...waited over 30 mins for one curry and rice...was charged for bag without asking. Chicken was hard and uneatable. Would never be back here or recommend anyone to go here 🤢🤢🤢🤢

Terrible, drive extra few miles and go to Hollywood, or barnhill

The place include the kitchen is VERY clean and the food consistently EXCELLENT. Best Chinese in Scotland!
