Great food, lovely service and really good value.

Amazing food, very different from most other restaurants in Sheffield, every dish was packed with flavour and offered something unique.

Such a great experience! In a group of 3 we shared 6 plates, wine, and a dessert, with 2 loads of bread to mop up all the delicious sauces. Personal highlights were the ox heart, the spring onions, and the dessert (shortbread, caramel, artichoke mouse), but couldn't really fault anything. Another plus point: not many places being bold enough to serve fish head. Great service, would absolutely recommend and love to go back of the place wasn't shutting down. Super glad I tried it!

A regular Saturday lunch /brunch stop that never fails to delight. Simple food but always with added attention and detail that makes it top notch. And lovely staff to boot. Thank you lovely Tonco peeps!

We had a fantastic time on Saturday eve just gone. 6 of us sharing so we tried most of the menu and it was all really high quality and delicious. Don't skip dessert! The service was brilliant - couldn't fault any of the team there. Friendly and passionate about the food, and they want you to have a good time. Love the open kitchen - the team in there were so calm and focused it just added to the whole vibe. The special cocktail they did with blood orange is one of the best I've ever had. Great night out!

This place is a hidden gem. Set in a secluded cosy corner of Dyson Place. On a cold Saturday morning the warmth of the place, mirrored by the warm greeting by friendly staff. Only popped in for a coffee but the food smells incredible - and all locally sourced. This feels like Sheffield done right!

Our evening at Tonco was absolutely one of the best times we've had eating out ... The food was superb, the service fantastic and the atmosphere was very welcoming. This is a restaurant that we can't wait to visit again.

Finally got round to fitting in a visit to Tonco after a few failed attempts. Went for a selection of small plates after hearing good things about the inventiveness and work that goes into them and wasn't disappointed. Loved the things that they can do with relatively humble ingredients - such a revelation! Great service and nice atmosphere on a Friday lunchtime.

Amazing food all very seasonal, great service

Had such a delightful time last Saturday night. Full on flavours across the range of dishes we three had. So pleased to see modern and inventive cooking which clearly puts vegetables front and centre. All of this backed up by absolutely charming and efficient front of house who, amongst other issues, navigated partner’s gluten free issues without batting an eyelid. Sheffield you have a gem here.

So friendly - we were worried about being late as we were travelling on crazy roads in delays, trying to get to a family member who lives locally and had arranged to meet us there. Staff were relaxed and welcoming, and food was exceptionally creative and yummy. Nothing more to say - a great evening.

Another stellar 5 star menu.. where to start? The smoked beetroot and leek combo ., the squash ravioli, carrot panise or the deadly baked alaska or the prune tart?? how do other places charge the same prices without the same quality ingredients, service and innovative and clever dishes? Go figure!

I visited this absolute gem of a restaurant for a date with my partner. The food came out very fast and was absolutely divine! I was informed that the recipes are changed every 6 weeks or so and the menu’s feature heavily with local seasonal food, which with my visit being in autumn, was perfect for a November afternoon. Every dish was hearty, warming and delicious. My absolute favourites were the obligatory croquettes. As well as our food, we had a selection of mouth watering cocktails, the favourite of mine being the “trouser rouser”! The staff were an absolute delight and explained the menu very helpfully. We felt throughly looked after. New favourite restaurant, can’t wait to visit again

Lovely, quirky neighbourhood kitchen. Left field vibes. Interesting menu lovingly made. Would recommend checking the menu before going - it may not be to everyone’s taste. Small plates to a couple of larger mains. The desserts were hefty, wholesome and tasted of real food, nothing synthetic here. Will return.

Stunningly good food! I have eaten here many times and every dish is a culinary delight. Surprising and creative dishes made from local and seasonal ingredients of the highest standard. The puddings are incredible. The service is impeccable. There is always a good atmosphere and I can’t recommend it highly enough.

Great fresh food, great quality ingredients, clever plates, excellent value for money. I just did not like some little elements like the chairs etc, but who cares when the food is so exceptional and staff really great.

Been 8 years in the uk and never have i experienced such food. You'd think you have to book a Michelin star restaurant, but no. In Sheffield, this little hidden gem is one of the top rated restaurant with great wine and for very good reason. We were treated like important people, beacuse we all are to be honest. This place can change a lot of your self value and opinions. Pure therapy. Our coats were taken upon arrival, the girl who served us felt like a best friend on her best day, full of energy, patient, despite such a busy time u couldn't take away her smile or anyone else's in there if I'm honest. I had to pinch myself, felt like a parallel universe, "imagine" by john Lennon was playing in my head. Wasn't sure on the wine and was given samples to taste. The wine is exquisite, each so unique, taking u different places of the world. Couldn't get enough. Now, the food... There's no word to describe the experience my taste buds had that night. "There's a brilliant , creative mind behind all this, somoene who prabably won loads of master chef competitions" i said to myself. Honestly i rly do not know how describe it, just get yourself there, i promise you, you will leave there with such euphoric energy. This place deserves a lot more recognition and value then it already has. Should be called "the hidden Buddha/ sanctuary / namaste / food thrapy " or anything in between. Totally over-rated food, which was so disappointing after hearing good reports. One good thing - the bread. But olive oil to dip it in was slightly bitter, charcuterie plate average with no attempt to make it look attractive. Most disappointing of all were the croquettes, a really peculiar taste with the sauce served separately instead of cooked inside the croquettes - which is a bit of a cheat. Small carafe of wine looked very dark like urine. Service is a bit cold. Something slightly pretentious about this place. We will definitely not be going again.

As always: superb menu, lovely setting, real engagement and interest in maximising the customer experience by the whole team. All of the dishes were flavoursome and interesting, and the staff knowledge was excellent Only downside was a rather poor cocktail modelled on a "Pina Colada", which tasted horrible! But still kudos goes for trying it out and being honest about it!

Delicious lunch deal. Bread and olives to die for and then we both had the large and small plate courgette dishes. Flavours so amazing and you want to savour every mouthful. The meadowsweet mousse with gooseberries was also heavenly.

Small but perfectly formed! A great experience from the moment I called to make the reservation when the helpful chap on the phone was more than happy to talk me through how they source their meat. The food was all excellent but the crab pasta dish was on another level. Walnut and brown butter cake also highly recommended. Get in there before it becomes too popular to stay in its cool little corner spot. Absolutely fantastic.

Gorgeous restaurant, we were in Sheffield to see Pulp and saw this restaurant reviewed on Sheffieldonline. The atmosphere was lovely, so friendly and the food all so nice and under £90 for dinner, a dessert each and a bottle of wine! We both said we’d go back for the restaurant alone, wish there was something similar near us! The only photo we have is of an empty plate 😂

Fantastic small plates for sharing, the menu changes monthly, and June’s menu is outstanding, particularly delightful is the fig leaf crème mousseline and roasted peach paris-brest *chefs kiss* The staff are super friendly, and in the summer there is a beautiful outdoor area for dining and deckchairs for cocktails in the sun.

Food was interesting and delicious. We are monkfish with rhubarb, fava beans with homemade marmite sauce and some other small plates. Their homemade bread was delicious. Above all the service was exceptional - friendly and informative - the best service I’ve experienced in years!

Had a fantastic lunch here. Very creative menu with regularly changing dishes. We ate vegetarian and found lots of choice. The food was the tastiest we have eaten for a while. We were made to feel very welcome, allergies dealt with nicely and great atmosphere inside.

Not recommended. Food sounds good but is bland, average at best. Service was OK. Bread was the best (and cheapest) bit. Overrated.

Some of the best service I've had at a restaurant! Dogs allowed outside. They have heated seats and will bring blankets if still cold, but the seats were amazing! We were a group of 5 and shared one of each thing on the menu, all delicious and worth tasting. The wild garlic croquettes were 👌 Would highly recommend.

Service wasn't brilliant when we first sat down tbh. Some of the food was stunning, but 2 dishes we had were actually inedible. We left them and the staff didn't pick up on the clues we'd actually left two dishes. One was drowned in dressing, the other was tasteless. Apart from these two things I can't complain, but I should have, at the time because the whole thing cost me over £60.00pp and if I'm honest, not being able to eat two dishes cos they were terrible. Yeah, I was with a mate, didn't want to make a fuss. I got riped off. I've got another booking with other mates, unless they totally insist I'm not coming back, only £60.00 was way too much for what we had. That said, the sparking wine, glasses, bread, other things were sublime. Just a few things messed it up, Inc two terrible dishes

My first visit today but will be back. A lovely seasonal menu which changes every 5 weeks. We ordered the celeriac and pasta which were delightful. Puddings and coffee were really good. Great service too

An utter gem and brilliant value for money especially at lunch. Cod’s head rarely seen out, brilliant. Cabbage “taco” an interesting concept that worked really well. Great service too and an interesting wine list. In house bread amazing. Visit immediately.

Great place, have to book though. We really enjoyed the food, spiced beetroot and squid were an absolute sensation. Good portion sizes as well, the mains weren’t as good as small tapas portions but the quality of food was great throughly. We felt well looked after by the staff, they were lovely and attentive. Definitely will come back to try the new menu

The vegan food seemed like an afterthought compared to the normal menu and overpriced at £40 a head. It wasn't bad but didn't feel like I got my moneys worth. The starter was bland and only ice cream for dessert. I would say the main was tasty though.

Loved this small restaurant in Dysons Yard. The dishes on the menu were all explained by the waiter. The wine was excellent and so was the food. Fantastic bread made fresh each day on the premises.

Had a great time at Tonco. I’m always apprehensive about small plate restaurants but Tonco didn’t disappoint. All the dishes were a good size and incredibly tasty. The staff were attentive and also very allergy-friendly, checking with the kitchen and making sure things were safe to eat. If you are into your food and looking for a 'grown-up taste' experience in Sheffield, Tonco is the place to come in! Great atmosphere and exceptionally well-cooked dishes. The owners of the place work there so it's guaranteed that you will be well looked after. My only regret is that I didn't take enough pictures. So definitely will be coming back to address this! Top tip: make sure you book your table in advance. The place is very popular so it's unlikely that you will be able to walk in and get a table

Visiting our Daughter in Sheffield for the weekend, she wanted us to experience authentic Sheffield which she has grown to love. The service is friendly, attentive and informative. Rated 3 as the experience wasn't quite a 4. Service was good but there were a couple of niggles - - booked for anniversary (didn't get a chance to reply to your email Joe) however staff still didn't even mention it or make a little fuss. - service was polite Steph(an) and George, however was only informed about the drinks specials not the food ones - food was good and obviously its our own personal opinion however - 1) croquettes were nice but sharing for two we were only served 3. 2) although informed the meatballs were pork why does it still state hoggit on the menu?, why not use goat or mutton (available at Sheffield market!) 3) the mackerel was my favourite very fresh 4) the tortellini was nice but a bit too much lemon (verging on lemon cheesecake flavour) 5) aubergine dish was overrated, aubergine should've been burnt to counteract the sweetness of the hazelnut. 6) fish stew was nice, but I was served a closed mussel, the squid had overcooked in the broth, the broth wasn't as fishy as I would've maybe expected. 7) the charcuterie should be served with bread for the price. 8) wine was lovely. 9) served a chipped plate Overall even when challenged we were not offered anything for these issues, which wouldn't have been an issue if it had been 4star overall. We expected the cost however overall it didn't live up to the £105 spent for two, and unfortunately we would not return based on this sorry.

Booking was a little difficult as there was no response to my initial enquiry, but then the team were incredibly helpful and accommodating. The food is absolutely fantastic, great atmosphere and quick service. Our only minor negative was that the desserts just weren't as good as the main menu. Would definitely recommend - just fill up on mains!

Came after the Marina O’Loughlin review and was really, really impressed as were my parents who live in Sheffield. Food’s great, service is even better and it’s in a lovely spot - also incredibly reasonably priced!

Four of us went there for dinner last night. Amazing service and ambience. The staff were all really attentive but my word- the food! Fantastic. We ordered nearly everything on the menu and ate tapas style. Delicious and fun presentation. Reasonably priced and generous sized portions. The wine list had something for everyone too. Wonderful venue and location. We shall be back.
