As Americans traveling through the UK, we weren’t expecting to stumble upon one of the most memorable meals of our trip—but that’s exactly what happened at this incredible restaurant. The moment we took our first bites, we were floored by how packed with flavor each dish was. It’s not often that food leaves you speechless, but this meal did just that. The crispy crab sticks were perfectly golden and delicate, the spicy edamame had a bold kick that lingered in the best way, and the chicken gyoza were tender, filled with flavor, and felt like pure comfort. And then came the mains—each bite of the katsudon was a perfect balance of crispy pork and rich, flavorful curry sauce. The pork gyoza ramen was unforgettable, with a spicy broth that hit all the right notes and left us savoring every spoonful. The flavors were layered, complex, and yet so perfectly balanced that we couldn’t stop talking about how amazing it all was. What made this experience even more special was how unexpected it was. After seeing some mixed reviews, we were unsure what to expect, but we’re so glad we gave it a chance. The food was nothing short of phenomenal, far surpassing our expectations and becoming a highlight of our entire trip. The warm, kind service only added to the experience, making us feel welcome even during a busy night. They accepted credit card payment with no problem. If you love bold, authentic flavors, this place is absolutely worth visiting. It’s not just good—it’s the kind of meal that stays with you long after the trip is over. We walked away feeling like we had discovered a hidden gem, and we couldn’t be more grateful for it.

We ended up here, because we wanted traditional Scottish food, but all restaurants in town were full and waiting for two hours for a table is a big no. A happy misfortune. Tomita had plenty of space, service was friendly and fast and the food was very tasty. The Szechuan style fries were to die for. Gyōza were good. I had volcano ramen as a main, which was also very tasty. We felt the place could get more customers if they show more clearly that they're open. It's just a small door with stairs going up, and if the place downstairs is closed, a lot of people would simply walk by, which is a pity. I'd happily come back to Tomita, for those fries alone.

A restaurant that only thrives due to an utter lack of any meaningful alternatives. We were already expecting terrible food but they somehow managed to exceed our expectations, in a bad way. Only go if you have never had Japanese / Chinese food and want things to get better from there. They also only accept cash, which is curious, but on second thoughts, not really. The reason does not evade the mind. If you want decent Asian food, there is a Chinese takeout nearby (which was unfortunately closed on a Tuesday).

ATTENTION: ABUSIVE PRICES. I give it a 1 because I can't give it a 0. They take advantage of the fact that tourists arrive late for dinner when the rest of the local restaurants have already closed (they close at 11:00 p.m.). The food was nothing more, but we waited half an hour for them to give us a table and, tired of waiting, we ordered the food to take away. They charged us 20 pence for the bag and instead gave us a box of peppers that they were going to throw away to take our order, which isn't that bad considering that if we had sat down they would have charged us 10% for the service. In short, a scam. It is worth going to bed without dinner if you don't arrive at the local dinner time.

We discovered this gem in Portree during our Isle of Skye tour, and it was exactly what we needed. As Asians craving familiar flavors, this place hit the spot. Despite the mixed reviews, we gave it a shot, and we're glad we did. We ordered the Chicken Katsu Curry and Beef Ramen—both dishes were just what we were craving. Both were good overall and tastes authentic Japanese. Just points for improvement would be: - ramen broth stronger flavor - for the curry, more serving of side salad and veggies We tried a few other restaurants during our Skye trip, but this one had the most satisfying experience by far. While it’s a bit pricey, it’s worth it compared to other options in the area. Highly recommend!

This was hands down the WORST meal we’ve eaten in the UK and terribly over-priced. First off, you should know they only take cash. Second, most meals are 18.50 or more. Third, the service was a joke. There were only 3 tables and we asked for water and they didn’t give it to us. When I asked again (after our food was delivered), the server looked disgusted with us and then preceded to argue with another customer who was asking legitimate questions about dietary restrictions. Lastly, the ramen is terrible. The brother tastes like warm water with no flavor or time spent making it good. Even if you desperate, seriously skip this place and go to a co-op and buy something else. They should be embarrassed to call themselves a ramen place.

TL;DR: go to the coop shop around the corner and buy yourself just anything to eat rather than come to this place. Seriously, the worst ramen I've ever had in my life. Bland, full of bean sprouts and definitely not Japanese noodles and few chunks of fried meat that was supposed to be a duck - and nothing else. £20?! That's a daylight robbery! Purely a scam aimed at unsuspecting tourists. The only reason we came here was that all other places were busy and fully booked. No food on offer other than crisps, ice cream and a meagre offering of cake, shocked as we were there for a 1pm show and had travelled over an hour thinking we would be fine for lunch at the theatre. Staff were fine, no hint of getting things done in a timely fashion and not much interaction with customers. Decor is depressing, such a big space makes it cold and echoey. Just no atmosphere whatsoever. Very disappointed and won't be back.

The good the bad and the ugly. Ok, this was the cheapest one night stay in Fort William, plus it included breakfast. The exterior sign is half hanging off and looks terrible! The room was decrepid and worn out, with fix and fittings from 1975. One power socket was broken. Last painted in 1975 too. Ceiling wallpaper coming down. I know it was noisy, fell asleep and heard nothing more. The good, the room worked, hot water worked, bed was a bit squishy for my liking, but it was clean and...worked. The bar food was better than expected was £22 for a beer and a pizza. Staff were helpful and excellent. You pay for what you get, no longer a destination hotel, just a waypoint.

We all had Sunday lunch (£22), service was good and waitress was friendly. However the Roast dinner was lukewarm, the beef was far from tender and the Yorkshire pud was clearly reheated and very greasy. The bar wasn’t able to provide many of the beers/lagers on tap. Altogether a very disappointing visit. We were here last year and I still remember The Venison I had. Clearly new management/chef. Definitely give it a miss.

After arriving at skye and looking for places to eat this proved a little difficult as it was out of season and places had limited opening hours. We went for Gabbro bar after seeing it on google maps. The pictures of food looked passable. After getting there having to get our own wipes to clean the table after ordering things weren't looking good, then the toilets were very rundown and like a back street bar toilets. The food then came out in baskets, lined with greaseproof paper. (Something you would expect in a arcade) Fish and chips and the macaroni and chips. Even a plate would have been acceptable even though the fish was clearly out the freezer and very greasy. To top it off a random dog was wandering around trying to smell the food on the table and pushing its way under the table to check for any food.
