The good the bad and the ugly. Ok, this was the cheapest one night stay in Fort William, plus it included breakfast. The exterior sign is half hanging off and looks terrible! The room was decrepid and worn out, with fix and fittings from 1975. One power socket was broken. Last painted in 1975 too. Ceiling wallpaper coming down. I know it was noisy, fell asleep and heard nothing more. The good, the room worked, hot water worked, bed was a bit squishy for my liking, but it was clean and...worked. The bar food was better than expected was £22 for a beer and a pizza. Staff were helpful and excellent. You pay for what you get, no longer a destination hotel, just a waypoint.

Nice hotel if a little tired looking in places, could do with a lick of paint inside and outside. Facilities were great. Bed and pillows very comfy. Very friendly helpful staff.

Dirty hotel if you are pushed into the back of a room somewhere. A kind of horror hotel. Also smoking employees who apparently also live in the hotel. Really a no go!

The worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The hotel is run down and there is mold everywhere in and around the building. The staff only did the bare minimum, in this case they collected money upon arrival (€238 for one night) and gave out a completely dirty key. Surprisingly, the room was a four-person room, which we confirmed when we called to find out the WiFi password (no room telephone). There was a pile of rubble outside the window. There were no sockets on the bed, the remote control was so dirty that it probably hadn't been cleaned since it was bought. Breakfast was a complete disaster, the breakfast room was dirty, the tables were full of used dishes. The food was unappetizingly prepared. Instead of cleaning tables and adding more food, the three employees were busy celebrating loudly over the last evening's dinner and attacking female guests. The entrance to the leisure club was covered in mold everywhere. When checking out, the employee chose not to ask about satisfaction with the stay.

A nice and clean hotel in a quiet environment on the outskirts of the city

One of the worst hotels I've ever been to. It is well located, everything else is very bad. If it were in Portugal, ASAE would have already closed it.

Stay here regularly throughout the year along with out team. This is a very popular stay for our people who enjoy the quality of service, excellent food and comfortable rooms. There are a few poor reviews on this site but I can only think they were not staying at this hotel. The icing on the cake us a very good spa with decent gym and great pool (although sometimes a little cold) keep up the great work team Nevis

This hotel is a DUMP! Do not stay here! Thank God I was only booked for one night, because I would not have stayed a second night. My room was dirty, there were moths flying around, there was no heat, no hot water and both of the twin beds were lumpy and I could feel the springs. They reminded me of a cheap pull out couch. The bathroom was gross, but the towels were clean. The wait staff was extremely unorganized and didn’t seem to know what they were doing. And the place was crawling with country men, and I was traveling solo. I didnt feel safe. My advice is to skip this hotel entirely. Don’t waste your time or money. I give it 2 stars at best. It’s really more like 1.5. Truly it’s a dump!

We had reserved 3 rooms 4 months ago at 200 euros per night. Only 1 of the rooms was ok. As far as we are concerned, we were at the end of a wing being renovated, with scalding under the windows, no heating, no hot water the first evening, and the pleasure of being woken up by the workers in the morning at 8 hours. Very average breakfast, no more croissants at 8:15 a.m.... A real scam

We did the dip and dine because the weather was wet. Lovely pool, sauna and steam room. We ate afterwards in the bar. We both had scampi and chips very nice. All for 15.95 each.

The Good. The beds were comfortable, bathroom had been modernised in the room and was nice, hot water and shower was good, the price was good considering high prices in surrounding area, bar food was fairly good. The spa facilities were good, decent sized pool, a hot sauna and the jacuzzi was hot (though a long wait between bubbles / cleaning cycle) The Bad… The hotel interior and exterior has been neglected for some years and needs money spent on it. We had a dinner b&b package, on the 1st night we were told restaurant was closed so can order from the bar menu (decent pub grub). The second night, restaurant open, the roast beef was awful with bad vegetables and lame potatoes, worst roast I have eaten in years. It felt like everything had been on a hot press all evening. Third night we didn’t wait to find out, and ate in the local town.. Breakfast was ok, sausages weren’t great, the breakfast items frequently ran out, and the presentation was messy. Staff needed prompting to restock, and they didn’t seem to care that it looked a mess (though they were polite enough). Conclusion… Overall it’s a decent base for Ben Nevis and surrounding area, but it’s not gonna be a luxury weekend. Would I stay again, yes but B&B only, dinner was not good

I stayed here on a short solo trip to the highlands and used the Ben Nevis hotel as a base. Room was clean and on arrival, staff where all very helpful and where happy to look after luggage before and after check in/out (this is a big reason why I would stay again) I used the leisure facilities and the bar during my stay which I cannot fault. The hotel does need a makeover in some places, but value for money and a pleasant experience I have no complaints.

Sorry to say this visit didn't meet previous visits standards. Health facilities mostly out of order (roof leak). The pool was cold not great for children. The showers were tepid , boiler malfunction. Needs significant investment. However, on the plus side the staff were excellent in the main, the breakfast and meals were fine as was the location. Good value for money overall.

Brilliant & friendly staff, including the bar staff and breakfast team, truly elevated our experience beyond the standard 5-star rating. Their exceptional service added an extra layer of warmth and made our stay truly memorable. I recently had an outstanding stay at this hotel! The staff, from the bar to the breakfast team, went above and beyond to make our visit exceptional, providing fantastic suggestions for activities on not-so-great weather days and even assisting us during storms to protect our cars. Their friendliness and warmth made the experience truly delightful. Our group, consisting of around 12 people, received exceptional service – they simply couldn't do enough for us. The hotel's strategic location, just an 8-minute drive from the YHA where some of our team started their hike up Ben Nevis, proved to be ideal. Additionally, its proximity to Glencoe, Glenn Finnan, and various attractions made our stay even more convenient. I'd give it a solid 10/10 and would unquestionably recommend it. The rooms were spacious, and the facilities were more than satisfactory. The added bonus of a spa, sauna, and a large pool made our stay even more enjoyable. Looking forward to returning and relishing the warm hospitality and excellent amenities once again!

No food on offer other than crisps, ice cream and a meagre offering of cake, shocked as we were there for a 1pm show and had travelled over an hour thinking we would be fine for lunch at the theatre. Staff were fine, no hint of getting things done in a timely fashion and not much interaction with customers. Decor is depressing, such a big space makes it cold and echoey. Just no atmosphere whatsoever. Very disappointed and won't be back.

We all had Sunday lunch (£22), service was good and waitress was friendly. However the Roast dinner was lukewarm, the beef was far from tender and the Yorkshire pud was clearly reheated and very greasy. The bar wasn’t able to provide many of the beers/lagers on tap. Altogether a very disappointing visit. We were here last year and I still remember The Venison I had. Clearly new management/chef. Definitely give it a miss.

After arriving at skye and looking for places to eat this proved a little difficult as it was out of season and places had limited opening hours. We went for Gabbro bar after seeing it on google maps. The pictures of food looked passable. After getting there having to get our own wipes to clean the table after ordering things weren't looking good, then the toilets were very rundown and like a back street bar toilets. The food then came out in baskets, lined with greaseproof paper. (Something you would expect in a arcade) Fish and chips and the macaroni and chips. Even a plate would have been acceptable even though the fish was clearly out the freezer and very greasy. To top it off a random dog was wandering around trying to smell the food on the table and pushing its way under the table to check for any food.
