I've been meaning to stop here for quite some time, but I finally got the chance to. It was surprisingly quiet when I went as it's uallly quite busy. At first seeing the price I thought it was a bit steep but when the bap came out that was bigger than my hand it's was actually a great deal as it was humongous and the coffee was very good. Thankful for the heater as that made the shelter much nicer from the bitter cold. 100% will go back and try rest of the menu

The cafe is outdoors which is okay if the weather is hot, not when you have been on a motorbike and it's freezing cold! The large breakfast was good, the tea, not so good. Frothy tea, something you would normally see with coffee but not tea. Very expensive in comparison to other cafes' we have been visiting this year. I did not like the ladies taking a break chuffing on a cigarette, then going straight back into cooking, yuk! I hate smoking anyway, each to their own but not in between preparing food. The loo is a portaloo, not very clean. Fantastic view and all in all not too bad.

So Disappointed with this visit having been many times over the years Has it changed ownership?? First the prices A large Full English includes a drink A small breakfast the drink is extra So they both cost about the same. Smoking is a pet hate so a wasn’t happy when the kitchen staff came outside to smoke near to us before going back to cook with no signs of hand washing. Needless to say I don’t think we will return Such a Shame as it used to be excellent!

We found this place quite accidentally whilst driving from the Midlands to Porthmadog. You can almost miss it driving past! We were feeling hot, hungry and thirsty, and were so glad we found this little gem! It's a beautiful little shack undercover and shaded with clean picnic benches and tables. Cleanliness is important here, as there was plenty of hand sanitiser around. Dogs are welcome and there are even free dog treats which went down very nicely with our pup! There is a very nice menu, with cold sandwiches, toasties, chips and breakfasts with tea, coffee (and decaf), and cold drinks. We opted for a bacon and egg sandwich that was hot, fresh and utterly delicious. Staff are so friendly and welcoming. The views across the road are beautiful too. We will definitely be visiting again and thoroughly recommend it!

Was really looking forward to a decent breakfast with proper farm produce (sausages, regs & bacon ) but unfortunately it fell short. Just your average cafe breakfast , not bad but not great either. You can’t complain as it’s all cooked well & served quickly.

Just read the last review.... How can you eat half a mouldy sandwich before realizing it was mouldy??? It couldn't have been that bad then... If I had a mouldy sandwich I would know on the first bite and would spit it out.....However back to my personal experience on the place. We have stopped here about 5 times now and each time have had a very good sandwich. They use nice sausages and are well piled up in the sandwich which leaves you full up for a while. The bacon and egg are also just as good. All food is cooked fresh to order and not cooked before hand as many do.you can also sit outside if you want a full breakfast the prices are also very good. This little place is well worth a visit. There is

We've been visiting the Tollgate for the last 17 years or more, and it never fails to satisfy. The most recent was today to grab some bacon and egg cheeseburgers and a side of chips. Marion and co were lovely to chat with as usual and as always, the food was cooked to perfection even though I caught them just as they were wanting to close for the day... Blizzard on the way! Definitely Worth a stop if you are passing by x

Whilst on a motorcycle tour of Wales we called in for a cup of tea at this small roadside cafe. First thing to say is that it has a large lay-by for parkingIt has outside seating but it is covered and on a lovely day it's a lovely place to sit.Several locals stopped by to pick up food, so that must say something.Price was reasonable and it wasn't too busy as its out of town on the A5 west of Llangollen.Recommended

Stopped here on our way to Anglesey. It's often tricky to find somewhere to stop with a large motorhome, but this little caff is right next to a huge lay-by, so there was plenty of room. We had the small breakfast which was just right - 2 bacon, 2 sausage an egg and a slice of toast plus a fresh mug of tea - all for just £3.50! It was all freshly cooked and the toast was deliciously crisp. It's not haute cuisine, but it's cooked on a griddle so it's not greasy at all - and the views are stunning. It was so good we called again on our way back! And there's even a geocache nearby!

This is now called Boba Geeks Cafe. We went in expecting the usually greasy cafe food with frozen chips . We were pleasantly surprised. Home made chips with sausage, egg and beans all cooked to perfection. The chef uses all fresh ingredients in all his food and does a traditional roast on a Sunday. We paid £21 for 3 meals and 3 drinks which I thought was a real bargain.

First time visiting and we had a fantastic afternoon tea - absolutely delicious! The service was absolutely excellent and the staff were brilliant with catering for children. Nothing was too much trouble! We were so impressed with our experience and will be back. I didn’t get her name unfortunately, but the blonde waitress who served us the most was absolutely lovely and we can’t thank her enough for making us feel so welcome and looking after us. Thank you!!
