Jay's Cafe in Denbighshire

This is now called Boba Geeks Cafe. We went in expecting the usually greasy cafe food with frozen chips . We were pleasantly surprised. Home made chips with sausage, egg and beans all cooked to perfection. The chef uses all fresh ingredients in all his food and does a traditional roast on a Sunday. We paid £21 for 3 meals and 3 drinks which I thought was a real bargain.

Today 13/11/22 I popped into Jays for a quick snack as I enjoyed their breakfast the day before. As I entered I noticed a couple enjoying a roast dinner, I thought why not . I am glad I did the food tasted lovely was served quickly and excellent value for money. The thing that struck me was how friendly the young lady taking the orders was to everyone, will definitely go back again!

Great cafe, polite staff and quick service A+++++ Well placed when shopping in town centre. Love the paintings too.

Great Cafe! All Day Breakfast is so nice you could eat another one. Service was good and staff were friendly. Above all what sells Jay's is the food. A nice little gem of an eatery.

Just had breakfast here and it was brilliant hash browns could have been better but as for cost 10 out of 10 and that's from a Yorkshireman.

Visited this establishment with my wife and four young children as we had seen a sign outside with an offer for a teacake and coffee. Once we were seated my wife went up to the counter to order and was told very abruptly to "sit down and they will come in a minute" like we should somehow know that when there are no signs to state this. When the lady came to take our order I found her extremely abrupt and generally not very friendly, we asked for some toast for the kids and 2 of the coffee/teacake offers which we were then told "doesn't start until 2pm" again no signs to inform customers of this and not stated on sign outside. I would advise not to visit here if you want friendly service or unless you are some sort of mind reader!!

Went to Jays cafe today, and it was bloody lovely, food was great, served fast and loved the workers. if I could rate it a 10 star i would!

Called in for a bite to eat ordered burger and chips chips was nice but the burger was burnt and not cooked in the middle. The cook looked like she could of done with a bit more help as it was a little busy

Chef receives the praise for a lovely dish with a twist. Friendly, kindly and the staff in the back kitchen had a lovely cheeky smile on their faces. Thanks very much. There are tables outside for a sunshine coffee or inside for a lovely decor with enough spacing to chat with my sweet-pea.

We arrived in the middle of their restaurant inspection. I could see through the open door to the kitchen a man in a white coat and hat with a clipboard. The waitress was a little flustered, understandably. We had fishfinger sandwiches in tiger bread with salad garnish. They were £4 each and only £1.50 for a very nice mug of coffee. The meals coming out of the kitchen looked good too. I'm sure they did well with their inspection.

We went on a Sunday morning after seeing all the good reviews. There was 2 parties in there that were already eating and then 2 other parties that came in after us. We waited 25 minutes for them to bring our food , but we still hadn’t even had our coffees brought out to us, in fact we had nearly finished the food before drinks were brought over. No sugar brought over or even asked if we wanted any. No salt or pepper on the table. Had to ask twice for sauce. I wouldn’t mind if it was really busy, but the service wasn’t good at all. The food was nice, but there is a cafe a few doors down from here, doesn’t look as nice but the food is lovely and service was brilliant.

Been here few times before, but today was very bad to the point of walking out. Me and my family got completely ignore and we had been waiting at least 10 mins plus. All the staff are young and to busy talking round the back in the kitchen. I wouldn't not recommend this place at all.

We visited for mid-morning coffees and snacks on a cold and damp morning. The place was buzzing and within 20 minutes or so people were queuing for tables for lunch. It is an interesting place as it is also a gift shop with many unusual gifts on display. Well worth a visit. It is a pity that we had a late breakfast and therefore weren't ready for lunch.

Nice little traditional cafe in the centre of Rhyl with 1970s decor, food was fine, I had the all day breakfast. Mind you if I was the owner I'd charge a pound more and have a really decent sausage, service is good. Would come again.

Good breakfast to start your day at the seaside. Not many people in so didn't feel overcrowded which i like. Very good value for money and you get black pudding which is always a treat to see. The decor is just like a dated but i love the charm of the place and reminds me of my childhood spending my summer holidays in Rhyl and i wouldn't change that for the world.

Couldn’t find a good all day breakfast after mid day so gave this place a try and wow we were so pleasantly surprised. The decor and setting is a little dark and dated but let this take nothing away from what they offer in food which is why we are there at the end of the day. Me and my partner both opted for the all day breakfast which comes with at least an item of everything u expect on a full English breakfast and a pot of tea or a large mug of coffee all for £5

Stayed in a nearby hotel with 38 other in our group. Needed an early (7:30 on a Sunday) breakfast. Out hotel couldn’t help

jays isn’t a gourmet food outlet it’s just a family run cafe in Rhyl north wales with a 5 star hygiene rating no frills always clean good choice of roast dinners also burgers n chips if that’s your thing i would highly recommend

After coming to the cafe with family, I would highly recommend the cafe due to excellent service and the high standard of food served. The staff were well presented and well spoken to customers.

So I've seen this latest review on Jay's cafe and it's made me write this review as it is so far from the truth about the cafe and staff. I use the Cafe every Friday for a take out with work for at least 15 people. on all the orders I have never had 1 person tell me that they dont enjoy the food it isnt nice greasy or anything. So I decide to come for a sit down breakfast, the staff couldn't do enough for you so helpful food came out cooked perfect fresh I have no complaints what so ever. And I am a fussy eater! So ignore the negative feedback this is a true and honest take on the cafe.

My partner & I called to rhyl town centre Friday dinner time and decided to eat at jays cafe.

The breakfast I had was spot on,come here every year,the staff are very friendly and everything is bought to you.

If you’re looking for a good value cafe with friendly staff and hot food, you could do a lot worse than Jay’s! Roast dinners are always with three veg, and always tasty.

I came to this cafe with 7 other family members, we all had breakfasts of different sizes with various things changed on most of them, all of which was correct when we received our meals! very impressed. The food was hot, the service was brilliant, served with a smile. Chatting to one of the waiters, found out the owners had sadly passed away over the summer but the boss's sons have taken over and are doing an amazing job keeping it going after such a sad loss. 100% recommend for breakfast, lunch and dinner!

Very sorry to hear about your recent visit to the cafe. Since my parents both passed away in July it's been a case of getting to know the business and trying to keep the place going.

Ordered 3 dinners gravy tasted like curry. Soup was disgusting. Had to ask 3 times for the drinks we ordered. No spoons given with cutlery to eat the soup. And no cups to drink the tea. The staff had no time to take the orders as they were too eager to get back to the desk to check their phones. Mash potato was obviously yesterdays and mince meat was over microwaved. Frozen veg was terrible. Glanglasfor is so much better. By far the worst food and service we have ever had. Please avoid Jays cafe!

Ordered a roast dinner as they always look nice in there. Was not impressed as had to leave half the veg because it was rock hard, I suppose thats whay you get when you use nothing but frozen veg. Glanglasfor behind wilkos beats it, all fresh veg and all home made food. Would not return to jays.

Been meaning to try here for a while well today we did, very pleased we went in today had a lovely welcome by a young man, we opted for the all day breakfasts they were great! Cooked real nice bacon, sausage, hash brown, egg, beans, toast, tomatoes, pot of tea, for £5 each, great value for money! Everything is spotless, lovely and friendly, fab atmosphere highly recommend!

Paid latest visit today. Lovely meal, quick service and prices so reasonable. Have been before and have never been disappointed. Nice surroundings and it is clear that they have their regulars and this is no surprise as they look after everyone so well.

Called in yesterday for lunch. Tired of paying stupid prices for nothing special in other larger establishments. Lovely young girl there who knew the regular patrons tastes, like no mint sauce, sugar for tea etc. Really enjoyed our meals and liked the way the waitress made time for everyone.

Visited on 18th November 2017. We only had Latte and pot of tea which was very large I got 2 cups out of it with still some leftover, we also had 2 fairly large toasted fruit cakes which we thoroughly enjoyed. The young lady who served us was pleasant and very welcoming a credit to herself oh the price £3 for everything great value.

stopped here for coffees but changed out minds and had coffee cake and a pot of tea each at the bargain price of £3.00 for the 2 - exceptionally good value

Went for day out in Rhyl with my wife.Feeling hungry we started looking around for somewhere to eat---a lot of the cafes and restaurants looked drab and uninviting-you could smell the stale cooking oil etc. We came across JAYES CAFE it was nearly full which is a good sign,we sat down and perused the menu,plenty of choice without being fancy.I ordered gammon egg chips and peas with pot of tea-£6-00.my wife ordered a lamb dinner with trimmings and tea-£8-00.Both meals were excellent quality and good portions served by pleasant staff.The cafe is basic but very clean and welcoming,if we visit Rhyl again we will definitely go to JAYES CAFE to eat.

We came here over the bank holiday and sat outside - looked to be full inside, which tells you something. Service was good and excellent value - two meals and drinks for £10. Deserves to be busy.

Lived in rhyl for 39 years never been here until the other day( dont know why suppose forget about it) anyhow nice atmosphere and clean , nice smiley waiter, had fab 4 breaky which was toast bacon beans n egg, all cooked really well nice pot of tea for two, think me and my daughter have found our new breaky place

Me and my partner always go here when we pop into Rhyl, cracking breakfasts, cooked to perfection and always generous portions, great value for your money. Roast dinners look nice, probably try them next time. Staff are courteous and friendly too. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

Staff very friendly and helpful.I have eaten here a few times, but more recently I am only having a bacon sandwich or bap (my usual is a full english breakfast).This is due to the food being too greasy for me, I like the place but could do with a grill instead of a deep fat fryer.

I visited this lovely little cafe last month for lunch and to catch up on some work. The atmosphere is very laid back and the staff are all very helpful and friendly. I ordered a milky coffee and a jacket potato with beans and cheese which also came with a side salad and considering the portions were more than enough it was only £5. One of the staff members must have seen I had my laptop and came over to let me know they also had complimentary wifi which was a bonus as I was alone and getting some work done. I'll definitely visit here again when I'm in the area. Highly recommended!

Have to say this is the best cafe in rhyl. The roast dinners are amazing. Staff very friendly. Especially the bosses son. I Highly recommended. See for for yourselves.

Went in for two pensioners meals, well what a surprise, a lovely elderly lady came and sat at the table to take our order and have a little chat. A very friendly little place used by a lot of locals.

I probably haven't been to Jay's Cafe since the 1970's and called recently with my dad who is a regular. I don't think the the decor has changed very much since then, but it retains its seaside cafe charm. It does what's needed in a resort town, provides very good year round service for the locals, hearty meals and breakfasts for locals and tourists and snacks at good prices. We only had tea, scones and tea cakes, but it was extremely good value and we received quick and pleasant service. The menu was extensive for breakfasts, three vegetarian choices, assorted main meals, lighter meals etc. The cafe is situated in the middle of town, accessible from street level.

This is a lovely little cafe I used go with my grandparents for a roast an ive just been back with my husband while staying in Rhyl we had the magnificent 7 breakfast an for less £3 it was a lovely meal can't fault any of it, I only eat mushrooms if they are cooked right and these was lovely. We will definitely be going back when next in Rhyl.

The food is good HOT fresh I go here 2+ days a week in work time on my break.....defo worth to nip in....and the staff are Fit!!!

When I go into Rhyl ..probably once a fortnight with my husband we always treat ourselves to lunch at Jay's ...it's cheap but extremely good food...their roast dinners are better than some of these top hotels. Highlt recommend it...small and cosy..decor very dated but who cares when the food is tasty.

Best milky coffee in North Wales !!!! and only £1.45 a mug. We go nearly every Thursday for breakfast magnificent 7 for £2.75 the cheapest we have found and well prepared nice dippy egg.

Lovely welcoming cafe went in for tea coffee and a teacake great price at £2:50 thought she had made a mistake but was told that was the price. Very clean staff very polite and helpful definitely recommend

as our over rated and overpriced hotel wanted another £7.50 each for a breakfast we decided to take a walk into town. we found this little cafe and took a chance, we both had a lovely freshly cooked breakfst and two teas for £7.50 all in. staff friendly and helpful. highly recommended

I've eaten here numerous times and yesterday was the most recent. The staff are friendly and polite and go out of their way to ensure your visit is pleasurable. I had a jacket potato with tuna and salad. It was delicious and well presented. Service was prompt even though they are obviously a very popular and busy establishment. This is always my first choice when I visit Rhyl.

I visited here with my parents the day after they'd visited Jay's Cafe for a pre-Christmas Christmas roast dinner which they thoroughly enjoyed. We all had the Fab Four Breakfast - bacon, eggs, beans and toast - that costs just £1.75. It was very tasty and once again, I'm more than happy to recommend Jay's Cafe.

We have eaten there for a few years now,mostly the Homemade steak Pie and a sweet after.But a couple of weeks ago we were shopping at Iceland and were shocked to see the owner buying Iceland steak pies there,i would imagine to sell at his cafe ( Jays) each costing £2.The price he sells them at and saying they are homemade we were shocked and have not been back there since

If you want a bit of fast food,then this venue does the job.Its handy,prices are not too bad,food is basic and its ok.

Jays cafe is a lovely cafe giving a good choice of food at reasonable prices. very clean and the staff are polite. Jays cafe is a hidden gem..... there is no parking on site, but, that is not a problem as there is parking available on roads near by. We go there often

I visited here whilst staying with my parents. Apparently Jay's Cafe has been around for years and my mum and dad swear by the place. Every time I (jokingly) ask my dad if he's visited Costa Coffee on Rhyl High Street, he always responds that he could get a Fab Four breakfast at Jay's (with change) compared to the cost of a drink at Costa.When we visited, my parents (unsurprisingly) both had the Sunday roast but, as I'd only been out of bed for about an hour or so, I opted for a toasted bacon sandwich and a latte instead. My parents both loved their Sunday roast and at one point my dad looked up and said to me "I bet you wish you'd had the roast now?" To keep the peace I responded "Yes" but my taste buds just weren't up for that sort of meal. My toasted sandwich and latte were just fine.Jay's Cafe clearly caters for the more mature diner therefore to my eyes the decor looks dated. However, the staff are friendly and efficient, it's clean, the prices are very competitive and my parents both love the place.

I used to come here back in the day with my Nanna. It was great then and it's just as good today.Very clean, friendly, attentive staff with a wide choice of food at excellent prices. Well placed in Rhyl town centre for all the shops.
