The most delicious sushi, donburi and takoyaki ever. You can tell everything was cooked with care the flavours were incredible and the freshness and quality of the food was amazing. This is a hidden gem in the outskirts of Edinburgh so lucky to discover it thank you for the food and service

Very good, nice an quiet atmosphere, food was excellent, no tofu in the miso soup that's sing of attention on Japanese traditions, compared to city centre's other sushi chains restaurant or bars.

Nothing like the photos at all, sushi was extremely poor I had to unfortunately chuck in the bin. I do not understand how anyone can call the “ seafood udon noodles” seafood when I had about 2 minuscule prawns in mine. The only positive thing about this meal was the gyozas, however if you do not like burnt food then they will not be for you.

The first authentic Japanese sushi place I have found in Scotland. Great tasting food and friendly and nice service. Definitely coming here again.

I ordered a couple sushi boxes through Uber Eats and was a bit disappointed. In the pictures it looked like it was great quality, but once it arrived the fish-rice ratio was really bad. Barely any fish in the makis. I had heard good things, but now thinking I'd better get sushi at the supermarket. Maybe in person it's a different experience, but for delivery I was disappointed.

I visited Tokyo Sushi year ago and was blown away by the quality of the food. Recently, I returned and was thrilled to find that the food is still absolutely amazing! The new grilled scallop nigiri is an absolute standout – perfectly grilled with a delicate, sweet flavour that melts in your mouth. The attention to detail and consistency in quality are truly impressive. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is inviting, making every visit a wonderful experience. Disappointed with Tokyo Sushi! I recently ordered four sushi sets from Tokyo Sushi on Sunday, spending over £80. Given the restaurant's claim of being prepared by Japanese chefs, I was quite disappointed with the overall quality. The sushi itself had a strong fishy aroma, which raised concerns about freshness. Honestly, I've had better sushi in Poland, and those weren't even prepared by Japanese people. The miso soup was equally underwhelming, lacking flavor and having a watery consistency. Disappointingly, the small portions of pickled ginger were insufficient for the amount of sushi we ordered. Even the condiments, provided in tiny packets, seemed past their prime. The delivery person's demeanor didn't exactly add to the experience either. For a restaurant claiming such authenticity, freshness should be a top priority. This applies not just to the fish, but to all ingredients, including the pickled ginger, soy sauce, and wasabi. More generous portions of ginger would be appreciated, and the miso soup "recipe" could definitely benefit from a flavor boost. A friendly delivery experience goes a long way as well. I hope Tokyo Sushi takes these points into consideration and strives to improve the overall dining experience. They have the potential to offer a much better representation of Japanese cuisine in Edinburgh.

Honestly not the best I have had. The chicken teriyaki was tasteless and the sushi was a mess and didn’t taste fresh. Not worth the money

Food was very good, but some part of my order was wrong. I got Salmon Nigiri instead of the Maki Nigiri that I had ordered.

I couldn't have asked for a better introduction to sushi! I'm a complete novice with seafood. I've never been a huge fan of it but something about sushi always appealed to me. The staff at Tokyo Sushi took the time to carefully explain all the different items on the menu to me and when my food arrived my tiny mind was blown! Before you've even tasted it, you notice there's a beautiful artistry here that goes into the presentation. Each little oval of sushi is an artistic blend of colour, shape and textures. By the time I'd awkwardly moved the first piece from my plate to my mouth I knew this was the start of a new life-long love. I'll definitely be back soon! Try the crab nigri. You won't regret it!

I have never eaten such poorly prepared and bad Ramen. It tasted like it was made from a store-bought bag, including the noodles. A lot of water, a few pieces of meat, almost no vegetables. There was also half an egg 😅. I really don't recommend it, it's a waste of money

The food is fantastic here! I can’t find another sushi place in Edinburgh with this high quality! The sashimi and sushi were so fresh that they melted in my mouth. I would especially recommend hamachi (yellowtail), seared salmon or scallop. The service is wonderful too! Both the chef and waitress were so welcoming, chatty and helpful. All the tablewares look sooo nice and clean. The atmosphere is great! The restaurant is so well-decorated that they got funny neko flags, loads of cute sushi miniatures and nice Japanese music. And of course, the seats are comfy and clean. I would definitely come back again and recommend this place to all my friends!

Finally sat in for ramen on New Year's Day. The tonkotsu was excellent, everybody was really friendly and the place was lovely and cosy. Looking forward to visiting regularly.

Here visiting Edinburgh, Scotland from the U.S., and we didnt know where to go for dinner on Christmas Day. They were open, and I am so glad we came here- it was delicious and the staff is very kind and friendly. Highly recommend if you are in town!

Amazing food, very long delivery.

What I got for £50 was a joke 🤣 £9 for THREE tempura. I kid you not. I feel like there's some weaponised incompetence on the menu. Don't be fooled. The food was fine, just fine, but the amount is pathetic. Not worth it. Go elsewhere. Peace ✌️

Fish didn’t taste or look fresh unfortunately. Also takoyaki didn’t seem to be cooked properly; usually they are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, but these ones were all soft. It’s a real shame as I was looking forward to eating Japanese food. Definitely not a good value for the money.

I recently had the most incredible dining experience at Tokyo Sushi, and I couldn't wait to share my thoughts! If you're a sushi and sashimi lover like me, this is the place to be. I opted for their Sashimi Boat, and it was an absolute masterpiece. The presentation alone was breathtaking – a colorful assortment of the freshest sashimi artfully arranged on a boat-shaped platter. Every piece of sashimi was impeccably sliced, showcasing the chef's precision and expertise. The flavors were out of this world! Each slice melted in my mouth, and the fish tasted as if it had just been caught from the ocean. The variety was impressive, from buttery salmon to delicate tuna, and even some exotic options that surprised and delighted my taste buds. The service was top-notch. My wife and I went there for dinner on saturday, first time but without reservation. Fortunately there is one table left for us. I guess table booking is recommended. We had sushi, sashimi and ramen. All are nicely done. The chef and both ladies are nice and happy to speak with us. Well deserved 4 stars+. Not a 5 star rating due to a few dishes we wanted to try were not available. The Chef did suggest us to call them in advance so we will get the food (special sashimi) we may want. The scollops, black dragon roll were delicious.

First time there for lunch on a quiet Friday. We were the only 2 customers on site. The man behind the counter has been super polite and his service was impeccable. Unfortunately, then, the food came. We ordered 2 portions of takoyaki, microwave cooked, cold outside and incredibly hot on the inside. The sashimi mix, advertised as 15 or 18 slices, can't remember, where 12 slices, still frozen. Impossible to feel the taste. My portion of sea food udon was possibly something else. No deep fried as the picture said and no sea food there: not even a scallop, just a few, micro, prawns, stir fried and some veggies. All together: almost 60£ of small and falsely advertised food portions. For sure an experience. A bad one, unfortunately. Good luck to everyone who is going there. (The reviews are incredibly positive for the place, a bit suspicious.)

Please have their crabmeat salad! The dressing is perfect balance of sweet savoury and hit of mustard.

I had takoyaki (octopus balls) and Inari (sweet tofu sushi) and was delicious. Subtle yet very flavourful. The staff were lovely and friendly to us and served us complimentary water. Authentic decorations makes it feel like a hidden gem.

The food was great, really affordable, the staff were lovely people, from Hong Kong, funny and really helpful, we were with our 2 year old daughter and they made her feel comfortable, gave her a tray to play with the plastic sushi set... I would definitely come back here, a little far from the city centre, but worth the trip, and definitely a go to place if you are around Edinburgh South East. A little hidden gem away from the city centre. We found this place when we finished our hike around Arthur's seat. The place is new, so it can feel a bit quiet, but the food was good and the owners were friendly.

After our visit of Craigmillar Castle, we decided to return to downtown of Edinburgh by foot when we came across this little lovely restaurant (less than 10 min from the Castle). The owner was super nice and price were reasonable. We took some Ramen and Donburi which were really good and nicely presented. Thank you !

We loved our experience here! The staff are super friendly and welcoming. The food is authentic, made fresh and is super delicious ! We felt well looked after and the staff even entertained our 18mo little one for a bit to help us eat our meal in some peace 😉 Definitely recommend a sit in x.

My experience is from ordering 3 hot and cold items for delivery. The food was ok at best. Some of the sushi was warm which is a major nono. Their rice is not the best whixh tells you this is no real quality stuff. The salmon was potentially trout? Wouldnt be the first time really. Not enough sauce on the donburi. Eel was on point though, very tasty. They charge almost 4 quid on a can of coke which is the type of business model I despise tbh. My take is I got it for 40% less and via Uber Eats so it made some sense otherwise it would be just too expensive for what it is. As a take away I will stay away but could give it a second try in person. Cant recommend though.

FAKE REVIEWS! Absolutely THE WORST take away which i ordered. Salad was OLD!! Just lettuce with sauce i binned it. Maki sushi were NOT FRESH and all different size ramen for 13 pounds was the WORST ramen I spend a lot of money but QUALITY of all was absolutely disgusting.i wish I would order mc dDonald's instead. Disguisting! The worst eXPERINCE EVER!!!!!

I've ordered from this restaurant a few times now & my experiences have been mixed. The portion sizes are sometimes questionable considering the price & while the food quality is usually decent, there are times when it's a real letdown. I'm still trying to decide if it's worth it overall.

Good quality cuisine might not necessarily in big name, we glad to make our choice to have the first meal here thought we pass by many times and it's a truly amazing one. ( the scallops sushi was good too, camera was too late)

Unfortunately my worst order ever( ramen for the price like in Maki Ramen but the quality was like I would made at home. SALAD ALL with just lettuce, old dropped lettuce I didn't even eat it!! It WAS GROSS. SUSHI all different sizes not fresh ingredients all looked like done in a hurry and broken( I'm sorry but I was very disappointed for this price quality WAS VERY LOW. its the worst 3 items I ordered from Asian take aways. I tried all them before in different places and I love Asian food but this was disguisting

The waitress was amazing, she talked me through various options with such kindness I felt very welcome. I ordered two different kinds of sushi and I was a bit concerned about the prices on the menu however, after tasting my sushi I guarantee it’s worth it. Not a dish I eat much but I am happy to pay slightly more than usual for great quality sushi. Totally worth what you pay for! The atmosphere is also very warm and friendly. I will be coming back again!

Tasty food, but very small portions for the cost

Sushi was nice but ordered gluten free and they swapped crab sticks in the rainbow roll and the tempura prawn in the dragon roll for cucumber… at least swap tempura prawn for prawn! Felt like it was overpriced for quality.

Really poor quality, overpriced, and small portions. I don't usually post reviews, especially negative ones, but unfortunately I felt like I had to on this occasion as the experience was awful. I ordered the tempura shrimp udon- it was basically noodle water (completely tasteless), with 2 bits of shrimp that had huge long black hairs stuck to them! I can upload pictures for proof. I also ordered salmon nigri and avocado nigri which were just 2 little pieces each. Extremely disappointed with the portion sizes. I paid almost £25 for this (including delivery)- such a rip off! I love sushi and unfortunately there aren't many places near where I live. If this place had of been good, I would be a regular customer. Sadly not with this quality of service and not at those prices. Would not recommend.

2nd order in a month, still delicious, still excellently presented. Good amount of pickled ginger (i love ginger, so I always want more...), soy packs are small, and wasabi packs are small.....but i always order extras to keep for next time! Remember to ask for chopsticks too.....some places dont give them as standard.

We were driving by and saw this place. We decided to try it and we're so happy we did it! It's the best sushi I've ever had ever! The fish was so fresh and the prawns so crunchy! We ended the meal with a matcha ice cream and it was the perfect dessert. We will come back!
