Tokyo Sushi in Edinburgh, City of

The food is fantastic here! I can’t find another sushi place in Edinburgh with this high quality! The sashimi and sushi were so fresh that they melted in my mouth. I would especially recommend hamachi (yellowtail), seared salmon or scallop. The service is wonderful too! Both the chef and waitress were so welcoming, chatty and helpful. All the tablewares look sooo nice and clean. The atmosphere is great! The restaurant is so well-decorated that they got funny neko flags, loads of cute sushi miniatures and nice Japanese music. And of course, the seats are comfy and clean. I would definitely come back again and recommend this place to all my friends!

Here visiting Edinburgh, Scotland from the U.S., and we didnt know where to go for dinner on Christmas Day. They were open, and I am so glad we came here- it was delicious and the staff is very kind and friendly. Highly recommend if you are in town!

I opted for their Sashimi Boat, and it was an absolute masterpiece. The presentation alone was breathtaking – a colorful assortment of the freshest sashimi artfully arranged on a boat-shaped platter. Every piece of sashimi was impeccably sliced, showcasing the chef's precision and expertise. The flavors were out of this world! Each slice melted in my mouth, and the fish tasted as if it had just been caught from the ocean. The variety was impressive, from buttery salmon to delicate tuna, and even some exotic options that surprised and delighted my taste buds. The service was top-notch. The staff were attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, making the experience even more enjoyable. They were happy to answer my questions about the different types of fish and offer recommendations. The ambiance at Tokyo Sushi was also perfect for a special evening. It was a blend of traditional Japanese decor make you feel like you are in Japan. Fantastic little place Would recommend to anyone

My wife and I went there for dinner on saturday, first time but without reservation. Fortunately there is one table left for us. I guess table booking is recommended. We had sushi, sashimi and ramen. All are nicely done. The chef and both ladies are nice and happy to speak with us. Well deserved 4 stars+. Not a 5 star rating due to a few dishes we wanted to try were not available. The Chef did suggest us to call them in advance so we will get the food (special sashimi) we may want. The scollops, black dragon roll were delicious.

First time there for lunch on a quiet Friday. We were the only 2 customers on site. The man behind the counter has been super polite and his service was impeccable. Unfortunately, then, the food came. We ordered 2 portions of takoyaki, microwave cooked, cold outside and incredibly hot on the inside. The sashimi mix, advertised as 15 or 18 slices, can't remember, where 12 slices, still frozen. Impossible to feel the taste. My portion of sea food udon was possibly something else. No deep fried as the picture said and no sea food there: not even a scallop, just a few, micro, prawns, stir fried and some veggies. All together: almost 60£ of small and falsely advertised food portions. For sure an experience. A bad one, unfortunately. Good luck to everyone who is going there. (The reviews are incredibly positive for the place, a bit suspicious.)

Please have their crabmeat salad! The dressing is perfect balance of sweet savoury and hit of mustard.

Very friendly and accommodating staff. Delicious and authentic food in a wonderfully decorated restaurant (4 big tables and 3 window bar seats) Definitely worth the small 10 minute car journey out of the city centre. Will defo yet be back. What a treat!

I had takoyaki (octopus balls) and Inari (sweet tofu sushi) and was delicious. Subtle yet very flavourful. The staff were lovely and friendly to us and served us complimentary water. Authentic decorations makes it feel like a hidden gem.

The food was great, really affordable, the staff were lovely people, from Hong Kong, funny and really helpful, we were with our 2 year old daughter and they made her feel comfortable, gave her a tray to play with the plastic sushi set... I would definitely come back here, a little far from the city centre, but worth the trip, and definitely a go to place if you are around Edinburgh South East. All the best to you as you have a great business here 😀

A little hidden gem away from the city centre. We found this place when we finished our hike around Arthur's seat. The place is new, so it can feel a bit quiet, but the food was good and the owners were friendly.

After our visit of Craigmillar Castle, we decided to return to downtown of Edinburgh by foot when we came across this little lovely restaurant (less than 10 min from the Castle). The owner was super nice and price were reasonable. We took some Ramen and Donburi which were really good and nicely presented. Thank you !

Food was incredible. The sushi was delicious and there was a great selection of other food too. Really glad we sat in to eat as the decor is great and the staff could not have been more welcoming and helpful. Will absolutely be back again.

We loved our experience here! The staff are super friendly and welcoming. The food is authentic, made fresh and is super delicious ! We felt well looked after and the staff even entertained our 18mo little one for a bit to help us eat our meal in some peace 😉 Definitely recommend a sit in x.

My experience is from ordering 3 hot and cold items for delivery. The food was ok at best. Some of the sushi was warm which is a major nono. Their rice is not the best whixh tells you this is no real quality stuff. The salmon was potentially trout? Wouldnt be the first time really. Not enough sauce on the donburi. Eel was on point though, very tasty. They charge almost 4 quid on a can of coke which is the type of business model I despise tbh. My take is I got it for 40% less and via Uber Eats so it made some sense otherwise it would be just too expensive for what it is. As a take away I will stay away but could give it a second try in person. Cant recommend though.

FAKE REVIEWS! Absolutely THE WORST take away which i ordered. Salad was OLD!! Just lettuce with sauce i binned it. Maki sushi were NOT FRESH and all different size ramen for 13 pounds was the WORST ramen I spend a lot of money but QUALITY of all was absolutely disgusting.i wish I would order mc dDonald's instead. Disguisting! The worst eXPERINCE EVER!!!!!

Good quality cuisine might not necessarily in big name, we glad to make our choice to have the first meal here thought we pass by many times and it's a truly amazing one. ( the scallops sushi was good too, camera was too late)

The best one I got in Edinburgh!

The waitress was amazing, she talked me through various options with such kindness I felt very welcome. I ordered two different kinds of sushi and I was a bit concerned about the prices on the menu however, after tasting my sushi I guarantee it’s worth it. Not a dish I eat much but I am happy to pay slightly more than usual for great quality sushi. Totally worth what you pay for! The atmosphere is also very warm and friendly. I will be coming back again!

Fantastic restaurant, the most wonderful food and very friendly staff. We needed some lunch and saw this place on Google maps and gave it a go, so pleased we did. Looking forward to returning and trying more items on the menu!

Really poor quality, overpriced, and small portions. I don't usually post reviews, especially negative ones, but unfortunately I felt like I had to on this occasion as the experience was awful. I ordered the tempura shrimp udon- it was basically noodle water (completely tasteless), with 2 bits of shrimp that had huge long black hairs stuck to them! I can upload pictures for proof. I also ordered salmon nigri and avocado nigri which were just 2 little pieces each. Extremely disappointed with the portion sizes. I paid almost £25 for this (including delivery)- such a rip off! I love sushi and unfortunately there aren't many places near where I live. If this place had of been good, I would be a regular customer. Sadly not with this quality of service and not at those prices. Would not recommend.

We were driving by and saw this place. We decided to try it and we're so happy we did it! It's the best sushi I've ever had ever! The fish was so fresh and the prawns so crunchy! We ended the meal with a matcha ice cream and it was the perfect dessert. We will come back!

The parking is convenient and free. The decoration is beautiful. I have lived in Japan for many years and can reminisce the local taste.

Just had California roll and green dragon roll…who would have thought you’d get good sushi in Niddrie! The tempura prawn in my roll was nice and crunchy. Delicious! From the outside it looks like just a takeaway/delivery but it’s actually a cute little restaurant inside! Extra points for being dog friendly! Will be back with my husband and doggie in the near future! :)

I visited for lunch today and really enjoyed it. There are enough vegetarian and vegan options for a nice varied meal and the food was very fresh. The decor is lovely and the service was friendly. I would recommend this restaurant and will visit again.

I have recently been to tokyo sushi, and I was amazed at how authentic the food, preparation and decoration was. I was also taken aback by how polite the staff were and how delicious the food was. Overall an amazing experience and I would definitely recommend it.

Amazing dining experience here. It’s rare to find a good Japanese restaurant around the UK but this restaurant is certainly top of the list! The highlights of the dinner were black dragon roll, hell ramen and sashimi. Very friendly staff and good service. Would definitely visit again! :)

Some of the best sushi I’ve had outside of Japan. sashimi and nigiri were both fresh and tasty. I tasted the donburi and it was great and my tonkotsu ramen was also really good. Presentation very nice and staff are lovely.

Wonderful little Japanese restaurant sitting in the outskirts of Edinburgh. The quality of their food was great. We had a late dinner in this restaurant. We ordered salmon sashimi，flower of love sushi and rainbow roll. We could tell the difference from their Sashimis. The service was fabulous. We had a great conversation with the restaurant owner. She shared a lot of suggestions for the places around the city. Thanks for the great hospitality! It was a great dinner and we made absolutely right decision to have this one as an end to our day trip in Edinburgh! Highly recommended this place.

I have been to this restaurant last month ago I ordered Japanese tempura and they even not cooked well so I didn’t finish it. They price is a bit over priced in this area. Moreover they use free salmon sashimi as there marketing promotion which mean that the customer views the comments in front of the staff. Information might bias. The staff are over friendly with communication with another customer so service were a bit slow I wouldn’t come to this restaurant again in the future.

Rolls is very small 😢😢😫😠 I love sushi and have ordered it many times and in different countries and this is the first time I see such small sushi rolls for such money, I will never order from you again! I will order from competitors with normal roll sizes!
