Cannot give a negative comment whatsoever this is by far the best Toby carvery we have ever dined in fantastic food very hot and fresh compliments to the chef . Very friendly and helpful staff especially Jo who looked after us and was brill with our youngest grandchild would highly recommend a visit. Very clean and welcoming would definitely visit again if in the vicinity xx

I eat at this restaurant about 3 times per year. On this occasion, the sevice was slow. I was ignored for 15 minutes, after being seated. A frequent problem is the temperature of the vegetables. These were lukewarm and spoilt the enjoyment of my meal. In contrast, the following morning, the breakfast food was piping hot. The obvious question is, if food at breakfast can be served hot, why not at Dinner too ?

This was our first stop back in the UK after flying back from USA. We were ready for some British comfort food after the long flight and this Toby Carvery didn't disappoint. I had Beef and Turkey and my wife had Pork and Gammon. All meat, potatoes and vegetables were up to standard and we had good value for money. The guy booking us in (Ryan I think) and the chatty female on carving duty were both a credit to Toby Carvery.

Breakfast buffet here, next door to Travelodge. Lovely food and such nice staff. The only gripe I have is that by the time you've paid for your buffet, paid for some orange juice, paid for some cereal, paid for a hot drink, it costs more than the restaurants which are part of some Travelodges themself. Actually dearer than a Premier Inn breakfast with far fewer options.

Busy Sunday lunch. Customers required to enter vehicle registration number prior to dining. Incorrect registration merits a £100 fine. Not the best way to welcome guests. Unlimited vegetables but meat was wafer thin shavings sliced with great precision. Large Yorkshires, plenty of gravy and the opportunity for extra meat but in my view the essence of a carvery is succulent roast meat cut generously and this establishment offers piles of mash, beans, carrots and roast potatoes but little joy for carnivores.

I stayed here on business, went for breakfast and I couldn't even get a hot drink as they had no dairy free milk, despite it being clear on the menu that it was available, apparently ordered but not arrived. There is no way they would be in that situation with regular milk, but as usual it doesn't matter when you are different to the masses.

The food was lovely, and the staff were excellent. Top marks for the service to. However, there are a couple of points where I think the Toby Carvery could improve. First and most importantly, I had a voucher offering 25% off food. When I went to use it, I was told it wasn't valid as the total food bill was £9.99 and for it to be valid, I needed to spend a minimum of £10 on FOOD only. I felt aggrieved because there was no mention of a minimum spend on face of the voucher itself, it was tucked away in the small print. For the sake of 1 penny (£0.01) I had to pay the full price. I will now think more carefully about visiting the Toby Carvery as often as I have been because of this. Secondly, it might be a good idea to introduce a dress code for all customers to raise standards. There were a minority of customers around me who made the visit less pleasant with their use of foul language.

Overall everything was excellent except for the roast potatoes could have been fresher and more crispy. They seem to be sitting in the tray for a while.

Very poor breakfast for the price£16.75 for two people, everything was bottom of the barrel, no potatoes, eggs greasy, burko not boiled , had to ask a girl to heat up my breakfast under the grill, we don’t have a grill , chef Mike will heat it up ( microwave) juices are extra , they claim their chefs get up @ 5am to make sure food is fresh, they must have slept in when we where there .

The carvery here is really excellent with huge Yorkshire puddings and a great choice of veg. The turkey, beef and ham perfectly cooked and served by the head carver, a delightful lady who clearly loves her job. Our waitress Daniella was equally delightful and friendly. Highly recommended!

Visited for lunch with family. I work for the Mitchells and Butlers and can say that the food and service given not only met standards but exceeded them. Food was fresh and hot and served by polite and professional chefs. They waitress called Helen was gave off a friendly and welcoming aura. Will definitely be revisiting when down seeing family again.

At a pal's insistence I visited this branch of TC on a drizzly, grey day in October. Given the relatively empty car park I presumed that my friend and I had arrived a little bit too early. But the place was open and ready for business. We were quickly seated by a pleasant if somewhat absent-minded young lady who took our drinks order (twice) and when when we asked about the procedure for the food gathering she ummed and ahhed a lot and suggested we just go to the carvery section (where a few old folks were pottering around) and wait for someone to dish up. A suggestion I would NEVER have contemplated! We took out place in the queue and surveyed the options at our disposal. Now, for those not in the know, you are allowed portions of up to 3 meats of your choice - beef, lamb, turkey, gammon or pork - and you're entitled to a large Yorkshire pudding (which, to my surprise were all homemade) - unless you pay £1.99 extra for a BIG plate, which permits the greedy pig to TWO Yorkshire puddings. I plumped for the beef - wasn't hugely convinced by the other meats, though, subsequently, I would wish I had gone for the turkey or pork. Then came the glut of side dishes. No shortage there either! I grabbed some beef dripping coated roast potatoes - very pleasant, if filling; mac & cheese, cauliflower cheese, sliced carrots, green beans, peas, shredded cabbage, mash potato and what I think was a king of root vegetable gratin. Once the mountainous place was adorned with a glug of gravy across the top I hoisted it up, teetering precariously in my clutches - the sheer weight of the gargantuan ashet I'd assembled brought an embarrassed look across my face, and sat down to devour it. In truth, I didn't expect much, but found myself enjoying almost every bit. Seasoned and flavourful - it was a definite success. My own gripe was the beef was cooked for far longer than I prefer, and, as a result, was both dry and - given they used a rib cut - very fatty. My friend said her lamb was very nice. It did look it, to be fair. Clearly my eyes were bigger than my belly as I didn't come close to finishing. My company - demolished her with a fury that put me to shame. And found the space for a sponge dessert too. I was in awe. Being full to the gills, and having a little drive back to London ahead we paid up and gingerly made our way out, vowing, however, to return at some point in the near future. Polite staff and - largely - good quality food made this visit a triumph. And a hearty recommendation to anyone else. Based on our visit I'd suggest going early - before the inevitable hoards turn up. But a hearty well done to all at the Toby Carvery. Great job, gang.

Sadly, today was not one of those good experiences.The waitress showed zero interest, didn’t explain anything or about the car parking situation (although I had worked that out for myself).The coffee station was filthy and just a quarter of a pot of coffee in it, did not start well.The cooked items were acceptable, but the bread was cheap and nasty.I would flatly refuse to return here again, on the basis of zero effort from staff, dirty coffee station and really unwelcoming ambience.At no stage was I asked if my meal was ok, and in fact I was ignored as soon as I’d paid, at the start.I’ll be taking my business elsewhere that’s for sure!!
