Service was brilliant ! And the food even better ! Our first time here and really enjoyed the Sunday carvery . One of the best roasts I’ve had !

Amazing service and food as well as friendly staff, would highly recommend and can’t wait to return.

Great place for the family to go and have a carvery and enjoy. The yorkshire puddings here are huge which is perfect for fans of the Yorkshire. Wheelchair accessible has 2/3 disabled parking bays right outside the front door. Toilets on one floor as well for ease of access. Situated on the outskirts of Colchester easy to get to.

Great time with the family as always, Hayley always makes us feel welcome and taken care off!

Love Toby I love their potatoes roast potatoes in like a gravy sauce I’ve never tasted anything better. I just wish I knew how to do it although I think it’s a bit dated and does need a revamp. The food is always good and the service nine times out of 10 is good I really like it when I book a enjoy have friends and better still when it’s on the 50% off at always makes me go so more of that please

As you would expect, good food and good service.

Cheap & cheerful buffet breakfast. Tables are set mostly in alcoves so it feels like you have your own little area which is nice. The food is not quality but then you're not paying a quality price, and there's as much as you want. Eggs always seem to be running out, but more will be on the way if you wait. It's convenient, you don't have to wait to get served. Staff are friendly and it seems to be quite popular, particularly at weekends and holidays. Easy to book online.

Lovely evening. Very friendly staff, helpful with requests. Generous portions. Good range of meats and freshly cooked veg. Very enjoyable birthday meal for large three-generation group.

I have been several times to the white hart. My last visit on 24th March wasn’t the best visit I have had. Our waitress didn’t come to our table, she asked if we wanted desserts and didn’t come back. So we decided we wouldn’t bother. I then walked around the restaurant to find another waiter to ask about paying who said they would send someone over. We waited a further 20mins. I had a baby with me who started to get impatient and we just wanted to pay and leave. We then had to take the whole party of us upto the bar and pay, which then puts extra pressure on the bar staff and area. I will be thinking twice about re booking .

We had an amazing time and Jade our server was brilliantly helpful and really kind, the food was really good and overall I was thoroughly impressed.

We often use this toby carvery, normally in the week as we found Sundays were too busy .

Feeds the masses, it's great for fast filling roast. You don't expect gourmet food at a toby. I wish they would take the fat off the beef though. Otherwise you just get a portion of fat. And keep sauces topped up ... It's a nice , quick, filling meal. Good value.

Food is great. This was our second visit here. Queuing time much better this visit. Staff very friendly and helpful. Does feel a little bit claustraphobic, as tables are spaced quite close together.

First time I had visited a Toby Carvery , the carvery was delicious and an excellent choice of meat and veg. My 3 year old granddaughter had her own little bowl of veg and potatoes and we gave her some of our meat .

Wasn’t very busy and we we greeted with a smile The carver with the beard really friendly ( as always ) and chatting really warm friendly person Food hot and filled Our waitress lovely and friendly As always the best service every time we visit

Had a lovely time nice carvery only thing we would mention is the cutlery especially the knives they are as blunt as chalk

An enjoyable visit and the food was better than the Harlow Toby. It was busy but then there was a £6 offer on :) Staff were very friendly - I did feel sorry for Mel on the Carvery counter though who had to deal with a rude customer because she'd just run out of Turkey and the next Turkey wasn't quite ready yet. The customer got quite irate, explaining that he only ate white meat and what was she going to do about it. What did he want her to do, wave a magic wand a produce a cooked Turkey from thin air? Mel fetched the manager to deal with him, the manager saying that he'll bring him over a plate of Turkey meat once it was ready. This seemed to calm the customer down who then went on to ask for some extra sausages as well - I don't think they were white meat :) Mel handled it well, although clearly shaken by the incident. There really is no reason to be rude at the staff who are all there trying to do there best and earn a living. Well done Mel for dealing with the rude customer the way you did. I'd have asked him to leave. Our table waiter was Kieran, he was very welcoming, friendly and helpful. I'd not been to this particular Toby for several years. I'm glad that I went and I look forward to returning.

Visited this toby carvery many time however this time the customer service from Hayley was incredible. She was incredible making jokes and just generally very welcoming member of staff. Checking in on us to ensure everything was as we expected. Would definitely recommend. Be back soon:)

Kieran, our waiter made sure all our allergies were cared for, double checking that everything was right for us. The carvery was lovely, though I did find some of the vegetables were slightly undercooked and a little on the cool side, but it didn't spoil things. Very disappointed that you no longer provide bread sauce to have with the turkey. Used to love that. Perhaps that could be brought back? Also, another couple of vegan desserts on the menu would be great, as choice was limited on that score. Overall everything was great though.

Please can you fix the men’s toilet's. They are in a state. Leaking urinals, graffiti on the mirror, pealing wall paper and plaster.

Good breakfast. Eat all you want but I always eat what I would normally eat at home.

I came into the Toby yesterday with my family and we were served by a lovely young lady called Hayley, she was so helpful, she went above and beyond and was so kind to my children. It was a pleasant atmosphere, and all the staff seemed lovely. The food was great, and I will be returning soon.

Came here last week for lunch, amazing service from Lily O

Toby carvery is always a good place to go whether it's for breakfast or for a nice roast dinner. The food was well cooked and hot although I did request for more gravy it came out 30 seconds later. The only problem we had was the soft drink machine was out of gas and syrup and wasn't warned about this before ordering a bottomless soft drink. None the less we enjoyed our breakfast and I would recommend this to anyone.

Absolutely loved my visit, the food was excellent and the staff were cheerful. Booking is essential as it is a very popular venue.

I had such a lovely meal tonight at Toby carvery. I was greeted by Jade and she was so lovely & full of energy, amazing waitressing!! It makes the whole experience so much better, will be coming again!!!!

Visited Toby carvery this morning, breakfast was delicious

Gave the wrong order and refused to refund. Called the restaurant, they acknowledged their mistake but nothing more. No refund, no amends. Order ref: 727964 Date: 8th Feb, 10:00 am Called restaurant: 8th Feb 10:18 am If you aren't aware of the issue, you probably need to learn running a restaurant better

Very busy and so had to book a table a few hours before we arrived but were seated within 10 minutes of arrival, good selection of meats on offer that were cooked well as was the veg, roast potatoes could have done with cooking for longer but tasted nice only disappointment was we ordered soft drinks and could of had free refills for a few pence more, we were not given the option but others served after us were, otherwise service was good all round and would use again

We had a table booked for 5pm we didn’t sit down until 5.40pm we also asked for a table not near the calvery and we were sat right next to it, it was to hot. The service was awful, the carvery serving was rushed and there was hardly any meat. It was far to busy and not enough staff, people everywhere no where to wait for tables, bar area a mess, no ice in the machine, sauces missing. Not a nice experiance.

What's not too like if you fancy a roast. Four or five different roasted meats. I had lamb and beef and was delicious. Beef dripping roast potatoes, honeyglazed parsnips, cauliflower cheese, and a while assortment of other veg and some mac and cheese. Afterwards there's the gravy station. Highly enjoyable and very filling.

All the staff were polite & professional in their manner. We always enjoy our meals & even take a doggy bag home!

Food cold and tasteless and half the dessert menu not available... Won't be returning

Good Roast Beef meal here this afternoon. Roast potatoes were great. Nice to see some different vegetables. It was extremely busy. The Staff were working hard but still managed to have a banter with some customers . They are a very hard-working and friendly team.

Cheap,plentiful, good simple food done well, breakfast really good today, went at 10am and caught a quiet period between early risers and latecomers, perfect

My only complaint is the time taken when ordering a drink prior to you having your meals

Great birthday dinner for our large family. From front of house through to the bar and the waiting staff. Cannot fault this place!

We are regulars here, and went for my birthday today. The food was great as always, I asked for a rose blush wine, but it looked and tasted like a white wine. I told the waitress and she asked me if I'd like another one, and would I like a different rose wine, I told her which one I wanted, and she brought the original wine back, saying the manager said it is a blush rose and I couldn't change it because I didn't like it!!! What a cheek!!! The waitress said I could pass the rose on to one of my guesses, and order another one which I would have to pay for again at £6.70 a time!!! How rude!!! They are mostly busy there, but afraid to throw one glass of wine away. Very strange!!!

Great visit, staff were exceptional.

Food is good although you need asbestos hands to serve your veg as the handles get super hot under the heat lamps. Cutlery didn't feel clean as had a sticky feel to it and obvious marks of something. My partners cutlery was the same. Tried swapping cutlery over with others on other tables but was the same story. Asked our waitress if we could have a clean and polished set of cutlery but she was rude and said they don't have time to clean cutlery.

Extremely busy and was placed to eat right by the que , did not enjoy people watching us eat felt like we couldn’t relax Parking was awful as no space had to park at millar and cater across the street

As usual when we visit Toby, a friendly welcome, clean and warm inside. Hot food , lots of choice , a queue for that time of evening but went down quickly. Worth the wait.

Food was cold and waited ages for my grandsons food to come to the table

I booked a table at six pm . It is definitely overbook. I can get a table in 20 min. But no one ask us for a drink and the cutlery in half an hour. Very disappointed.

We always get a very warm welcome and were looked after very well by the staff. The food was first class as usual and it was a bonus that we had a half price main course.

Food was good, unfortunately there was dropped food on the floor under our table. We got there at 12pm so it must have been from the night before. Could use a good clean once in a while

I had such a lovely roast with my friend the other day at the Toby Carvery with my friend. We were greeted by Jade who was very helpful and lovely. She couldn’t do enough for us! Our meal was very good, the meat was fresh and not dry at all! Some of the options were looking like they were drying up a bit, my friend made a joking comment and they changed them completely. We has dessert too which was lovely! For the price, I was impressed!
