Hannah was lovely and polite very helpful Will be coming back food is lovely always served very hot was very good we got offered to take food home

We all had a lovely family meal together, the food was really nice and we had a right hoot with Jo who was great. We will be going there again.

Lovely atmosphere and amazing food. Service was fantastic and friendly. Jo was amazing and made our time so enjoyable.

Tbey were short of ataff and absolutely packed out on a Friday night, so unless u have booked if u want to eat, I wdnt bother, cos u won't get in. We only went for a drink so sat in only chairs available opposite the bar. Next time, we will go a different evening or afternoon.

Had a lovely meal which was very reasonably priced. We were served by Lily, who was very friendly and warm. The lady who carved the turkey was also really nice, thank you for a wonderful meal. Will definitely visit again soon.

Been here a few times now and it never disappoints. Great roast dinner and quick service. The roast lamb had run out but in asking the server went out to get the next one rather than wait for it to come out. The waitress Lily was amazing! Very friendly and arranged for the chefs to come out and singing happy birthday to our 2 girls….. and a little candle in their desserts! defo recommend *****

Very busy because of a promotion but the food was still of a high standard.Mest was cooked perfectly and vegetables were plenty and fresh.

Jo was attentive, helpful and cheerful.

I went there as a courier to pick up food for an order received from a company. This off there did not bother to look after the courier. They welcome the customers visiting, which is a good sign, but they do not attend the couriers immediately. they attend the Courier after 10 to 15 minutes. Courier go there on behalf of customers, although the couriers get paid for living orders. But the couriers spend their time and money for this. Once I I went there, two females on the counter were talking to each other. I keep on waiting for at least 2 to 3 minutes and then requested them to look for my order.. She did not bother me and after a while, she asked me my other number very rudely. The couriers visiting should be dealt like the other customers visiting.

We haven’t been to the toby carvery in Colchester for a long time due to the food being so bad on our last visit. As a result of a special offer we decided to give the carvery a try again, it was very busy and clearly the staff were not coping very well. Other than being seated at the table we never received any service at all, we got our own drinks from the bar. The meat service was efficient at the carvery and the meat and vegetables were all well prepared. After finishing the meal it was hunt the server to get the bill, after finally finding someone to scan our special offer QR offer code the final bill was promised, after 10 minutes we had to search for the member of staff who said she had been distracted with something else! Clearly not acceptable or good customer service the whole experience was self service!

My wife and dined at the carvery for our 58th wedding anniversary on October 8th the carvery and chefs were first class and the waitress Joe went out of her way to please us

We had Aimee as our server Friday evening, not only was she polite and attentive but in all the time we have been attending this location (4 years) she was the first to mention how it is the same price to order a children’s carvery or a children’s carvery with a dessert! I was surprised to learn this and couldn’t be more grateful for her informing us! I will definitely be back again.

Came for dinner with my family. Food was delicious and our waitress amiee was the best! she was speedy and polite and chatty. everyone loves a toby carvery, and the staff just make it better! 💕

I'm visiting family in the UK, and they suggested this place for an authentic English roast dinner. It did NOT disappoint!! Everything was absolutely delicious. They staff were incredibly friendly and went out of their way to make us feel at home. The beer selection was great, and the sticky toffee pudding I had for dessert filled me with joy!! I would come back here over and over again.

Nothing was great I’m afraid the service was poor had to ask to be cleared and if we could order a dessert it wasn’t even busy. The beef was inedible and the vegetables were raw

The staff are friendly and happy to help, everything seemed clean and tidy and the food was quite fresh, but the black pudding was over done and quite tough, other than that food was good, one of the better Toby breakfasts.

Having had to fast for 12 hours j fancied a cooked breakfast and toby was nearby. There was a large selection on offer including Yorkshire pudding? I helped myself with hot meal and toast. However it was Luke warm and tasteless. Big disappointment. Wouldn't return

Three of us and my small daughter went to the carvery this evening for dinner. The one the thing that made our experience this evening was our amazing waiter! Outstanding! Food was average get what you pay but they service from our waiter will 100% be returning! So on point and nothing was Too much trouble Thank you so much bobby give this boy a payrise toby!

The roast potatoes were a bit solid but husband got a couple extra and they were perfectly crisp on the outside, fluffy in the middle. Unfortunately they didn't have his vegetarian option due to changing the menu. My pie was lovely, plenty of filling

Don’t ask for a child meal if your child looks over 12 ! Meat sells quick even by 12:30 pm And you will have a long wait mate !

I came in on Monday and was served by Jo. She looked after us really well and nothing was too much trouble. My daughter wanted a straw and she went and found some, even though the bar had run out, and she made sure we were happy the entire meal. Best service I have had in a long time!

Fantastic roast every time I visit. Veg always hot and fresh, and roasties always delicious. Always have plenty of food ,but make room for desert too. Ambiance at stanway Toby is always friendly.

We visited Toby this evening for my sister's birthday. Hannah was our server and was absolutely fantastic, friendly, helpful, great interaction with the children. We will definitely be returning and hopefully Hannah will be on shift again :)
