Great spot for brunch. Good quality food and serving size at reasonable prices.

This was the second visit, we had to leave the first time as no one bothered serving our food after waiting almost an hour, we left as we thought it was just a busy day. We gave it another go. Not clear whether they were offering table service or not, asked to take a sit and someone would have taken our order, however no one turned up. Coffee was just ok, despite serving normal milk instead of alternative after asking for it. Paying for premium food when they serve stingy breakfast with tinned mushrooms, which all together costs a max of 4£.

Over an hour wait for a very mediocre veggie breakfast. Stone cold fried egg and looked like it'd been cooked in an old pan as blackened underneath

My first toastie from the new menu. Tuna and red onion. Delicious and very good value. My toastie was to take away but the café is always clean, welcoming and well-managed. Excellent!

Sadly we had a terrible experience with Toast today. We've had delivery from them a few times and usually it's good (although we have had missing items before - like mushrooms). Today we ordered at 10:40am and didn't receive our food until 12noon! We are only ten minutes away! 3 different drivers went to collect and waited before leaving because they took so long to prepare our order. When our order actually arrived our 2 drinks (totalling an expensive £7.50 for an orange juice and a smoothie) were missing! So were the mushrooms and hashbrowns! And the food was disappointing and cold. What a total let down and disappointment. We won't order again.

Ordered for a second time on Uber eats, food is always nice however there are always missing items. Last time we ordered two drinks needing straws, we did not get the straws which ruined the drinks. We also didn’t get an egg in the breakfast last time. We’ve ordered for a second time, missing toast which we paid £1.50 for just for two slices, missing straws… AGAIN and also quality of food this time was not as good as the first. Fed up of missing items, it shouldn’t even be a thing, people should be able to read an order and pack it correctly and check it before it goes out. Regardless of rush and being busy, it’s quality and service and given the price of the food, it should be standard. Won’t be ordering for a loss of money a third time.

This is some of the worst food l've had for a while. And I will eat most things, the state of 2 pieces of bacon slapped on a bagel with unmelted cheese? How can you call this a bacon bagel melt when the cheese isn't even melted. How can the restaurant be called toast when the bagel isn't toasted? Shout out to the media marketing team for the pictures that make it look stunning. Wouldn't even give this a homeless man that's about to die of starvation.

I have been here twice before & had a lovely breakfast, served by a really sweet waitress. Yesterday I went quite early to order breakfast. The man working in kitchen was quite rude to me when I was trying to order. I caught him rolling his eyes because I wanted to take my time ordering. He told me "I'm on my own here". I said "ok, I understand that but......." i didn't want to be rushed. He seems agitated that I wasent being quick enough. I also asked him why the first thing you see is a picture of Rishi Sunak. Apparently its a hilarious joke? Nice way to trigger your cusromers....I paid for my breakfast, was told I couldn't sit upstairs. So went to sit down. Realised "A Thing Called Love" by The Darkness was playing really loudly. I decided £15 was too steep for a bad sensory experience while eating food made by a moody chef. On my birthday!!!! So, I immediately asked for my money back and left... I would suggest going to this place once the lovely waiting staff start work. Avoid it soon after opening. Maybe he had a bad morning but as a woman of colour, entering an establishment for a pleasant breakfast when the political landscape is so dark.... Rishi in my face and a moody chef was actually beyond triggering.

Very good treatment from the girl at 3 in the afternoon on August 8, 2024, the coffee she prepared was excellent and the bathroom was super clean... I LOVED IT

Bacon too salty. Lincolnshire sosijes clearly not Lincolnshire sosijes, i know, I'm from lincolnshire gross mush rooms, burnt hash browns ... Coffee or tea not included in a 13 quid breakfast!! So what ya expect to be 39 quid ends up more like 50... Nasty shock on a hangover Sunday with a 2.5 hour drive home... But the americano coffee is nice.... That's the only thing

Poor quality food cooked (or reheated) forgettably. This would be bad enough, but the atmosphere in Toast is one of the weirdest and most uncomfortable I’ve ever experienced. The owner of Toast has long held a reputation for rudeness to customers and poor treatment of staff (so much so he even made the local papers), and I’ve been witness to both. He’s also known for berating other small businesses on the high street and even Withington itself via social media. The staff clearly hate working there and it’s easy to see why. There’s also a number of incredibly fussy notices on the menus, walls and windows telling people not to request substitutions to breakfasts, warning of extra charges if you want your eggs cooked a certain way, banning laptops, explaining that sitting in costs more than taking out… It’s all very uptight – I don’t think my mortgage came with this much small-print.

Easily the BEST BREAKFAST in Withington and Didsbury. We went in Sat lunchtime and ordered 2 x Fry Ups with extra tomatoes, hash browns and wow just amazing. Real chilled boho vibe Fleetwood Mac tunes playing as background music. Gorgeous WorkerBee Mcr local tea and huge portions we were stuffed. Pricey yes but you pay for quality and its student friendly, progressive liberal cafe with people first vibe. We will be back for sure.

Toast is one of my absolute favourite places to eat out when I have a burger hankering. Their food is great, and the staff and atmosphere nice. Even with buggies and babies in tow we have had a warm welcome. A credit to Withington.

I went in to get a couple of takeaway barms and not only was the order completely wrong but the bacon and sausage were completely burnt and and there was a hair in one of our eggs go to coffee house round the corner it’s so much better and half the price. only came here as that coffee house was closed this morning it used to be ok in there but it’s so bad now staff clearly have no idea what they’re doing in the kitchen and there was no hair nets in sight…

I've been here for lunch and also to work remotely upstairs. Great food and coffee for a very reasonable price. Staff are friendly and it has a lovely atmosphere. I'll definitely return and I'd recommend it.

Staff were nice and the cafe was lovely but I ordered beans on toast with some extra cheese and when it arrived the pot of beans on the side was quite small. It came to £7.50 so for that price I was hoping for a little more beans, especially as the menu states "a big pot of beans"

Lady at till was so rude today because she thought id asked for take out food and drink even though I was sat comfortably at the table after taking my coat off. The food was placed in front of me in takeaway containers. I asked for a plate and proper cup and was told “you said take out” to which the staff member snatched it off the table and spilled the coffee everywhere and put the food on a plate and coffee in a mug. She was extremely rude this was my first time there as my usual cafe local to there was closed. Needless to say I will not be dining in there again this was appalling behaviour. On the plus side the food was nice.

Lovely brunch spot in the heart of Withington. Great food, great staff, great service, great vibe. Loaded cheese and tomato toastie was delicious, as was the toast breakfast. Great value for money too!

We love this little cafe. We come in often on a Sunday morning after junior Parkrun as they’re open nice & early. Friendly staff, good food and good service. What more could you want. Baby changing facilities and plenty of high chairs too.

Absolute disgrace. Half the breakfast was cold and some of it not cooked properly. Staff have a strange attitude and are only geared towards making money and not customer service. Avoid.

The food was nice, but I would expect something more for the price. I am pretty certain the toast is just generic stuff from a supermarket, and eggs and mushrooms were cooked nicely but nothing special. The latte was good. Great atmosphere inside.

Placed an order for delivery, food was okay but the portions were small and my order was wrong (I asked for a caramel latte and got given an iced one, and i ordered a croissant which was missing when the food arrived). Tried to phone multiple times to let them know but there was no answer.

As I am wheat intolerant I can sometimes find it hard to get something other than a fry up. So it's nice to know that they cater for Coeliacs. The service was very good & the staff were very friendly & helpful. The bacon & brie toastie was delicious.

Had a lovely lunch with my daughter and dog. Staff were lovely and friendly, and very attentive. Food was delicious and reasonably priced. It was lovely and clean inside, and my dog Ruby was treated to lots of belly rubs and pieces of sausage courtesy of the lovely ladies that work here. It's Ruby's new favourite place!🐶🐶🐶

Based on a issue I had heard about this place where they wrongfully dismissed an employee which can be proven as it can also be shown that the manager does not know how to deal with customers or staff, I decided to visit this cafe and I was massively disappointed, the food lacked flavour, was very soggy and completely unacceptable.

A fantastic little Cafe that serves amazing food, especially the breakfasts!! Super friendly staff, fabulous service and the cafe boasts great decor!! 10/10!!

Ordered from here via Uber eats. The food was soaked, soggy and greasy. Borderline inedible. This place abuses that fact that delivery customers cannot return their subpar food. Had this been severed in a restaurant setting the plates would have been returned instantly. Uber eats are currently investigating this matter and the watchdogs will be alerted. Simply unacceptable and we will not be ordering from this establishment again.

Ordered 3 breakfasts and was very disappointed, eggs burnt on bottom under cooked on top the toast was just bread. Not good enough for the price also charge an extra £6 to eat in. Won't be going back

Called in while waiting for my partner. Had scrambled egg on toast and a flat white. They know how to make them properly! 6oz cup, double espresso and lovely foam. Wanted to give them 1 star cos I got exactly what I ordered, scrambled egg on toast, but then saw some of their reviews with pics of their full English Breakfast and Gourmet Burgers, etc [hint]. That would be unfair though as I should have done my bloody research first! 🤣 Didn't do a proper review of their Google Maps profile, bet they probably don't have it set up right like everyone else. Did suggest they say thank you to reviews though (especially the spud comment about the manager), keyword stuff to help the algorithm and show up for the items that make them money. This is their test and if they can find my reviews/brands, by following my name [ffs] they may learn a thing or two. But, the best thing about my first visit is the little dynamo of joy who calls everyone 'darling'. Wanted to take her home, but am not sure what my partner might say! 🤣 In case you couldn't work it out, they sell more than just blinkin' toast! 🤣 #RaiseTheFrequency to #SaveThePlanet P.S. Pay them in cash or you'll end up with #DigitalCurrency and you'll end up like those poor buggers in #China. Think it through... P.p.s - had to have an Americano and Chocolate Brownie too. Absolutely incredible breakfast, lovely staff and very nice set up, clear menus and great selection of drinks and snacks and even the odd beer :) Definitely recommend this place for great scran. Fresh squeezed orange juice too :)

TOAST offers really good breakfast and brunch options for a reasonable price considering its location. I visited and had a Full English Breakfast, it was exactly what I wanted with each element of the breakfast cooked perfectly. My partner had a "build your own" bagel which she was also very happy with! Quality of service was high with a very friendly and helpful lady serving us and the food and drinks coming out in good time also. This was especially impressive given it I visited on a Saturday morning which I imagine is peak time. Great place and will definitely be back!

My partner and I visited TOAST to grab some brunch on the go and I could not recommend it enough. The food was great, hot and tasty and the coffee is really good too. The portions are amazing for the price. The best thing about this place though is the service. The ladies behind the counter were so friendly and lovely, we will definitely be returning there again. Thank you for the yummy breakfast ciabatta! ⬇️⬇️ Update, second visit Nov 2021(with photos) Took some friends who were visiting us from Wales to TOAST for a good ol' fry up and coffee this morning, and we all left with full happy bellies. 3 TOAST breakfasts and a chicken chorizo melt, all were delicious. Very reasonable price for what you get and for the quality of the food. Only one minor moment, where a waitress was a bit rude, when we politely mentioned when our food arrived that we hadn't had our coffees yet, as she stated "well we're actually a bit busy" which of course we could see, and we've all worked in cafes/restaurants so we know what it's like and felt we didn't quite deserve the comment. We were only trying to let her know. But as I said - we've all had the experience of how stressful it can get when it gets busy and it didn't ruin the morning overall. **UPDATE: Third visit was an absolute let down. This is very unfortunate. We were only a table of two. We were overlooked to be served, with several tables around us having their orders taken despite coming in well after we did. They were very busy and understaffed as it seemed, so we weren't able to catch someone's attention to ask them because they were having to rush around. We waited for an hour, and still hadn't received our food. All we ordered were 2 breakfasts and 2 filter coffees. The coffee was lukewarm. A really disappointing visit.

Having set off from Cumbria at 5.30am on a cold and dark Saturday morning it was a great to sit in Toast and be filled to the brim with a great breakfast and good coffee. On the expensive side, but I expect that reflects the costs of late 2022 and the quality of the food they use. Thank you.

We wanted somewhere to have breakfast but not somewhere that is a chain, one google search later and we found here and we are so glad we did. The food was amazing we were very happy with the standard of food. Good quality, good amount, music wasn't too loud and great choice. The no laptop rule is a great idea as it meant people were talking and not just blocking tables with one person all day long. When we are back in this area we will definitely be coming back to enjoy another breakfast or a meal. Great service and not overly expensive. Thank you again

In all honesty, it’s not as great as it used to be. Ordered two full English breakfasts (home delivery), one of the worst breakfasts I’ve ever had, and also one of the most expensive. To start with, it would’ve been nice if bacon and sausage wasn’t cremated. Bacon was burned so badly, they should’ve sent an urn for us to store it. I don’t know how could someone look at that food and allow it to leave the kitchen, it was terrible. Only one piece of toast for breakfast, considering the place is called toast, is a bit sad. If you want to charge £30 for two breakfasts at least make them good, don’t burn stuff. Burton road bakery is just down the road, half the price and so so much better quality.

Visited on a Sunday lunchtime and was really impressed with the food! Service to place our order was a tad slow, possibly due to how busy it was (making it quite loud inside too), but once we’d ordered the food arrived promptly. I settled on a panini and chips, and really enjoyed it - lots of flavour and a good portion size! overall was a lovely brunch spot, and would visit again if lived nearer!

Even though the food looked nice, my full very expensive breakfast was cold, I don’t know why it was cold as not a lot of customers and I should of sent it back I know, my daughters sandwich was nice, For 2 of us it cost over £30, for that much we could of gone out at night and had steak etc, It was expensive to say the least and cold food and will not be returning. Staff were very pleasant

First time visit, really enjoyed the experience here, great care and customer service which really comes through despite being very busy, at the time. Food was top quality, clean and could tell that everything was made fresh. Will be sure to visit again!

To be honest I would not come back for a couple of reasons. Even though the staff was nice they we a bit incompetent. Our waitress came back after we’ve ordered to say they didn’t have a veggie burger but we could go for a falafel just to come back 5 min later to say they didn’t have falafel 😆 They kept adding stuff to our bill for ordering extra sauce and spinach. It’s very capitalistic We were a group of 4 and everyone payed except one person forgot to pay for her coffee and as a gesture of good will I’d remove it from the bill instead I had to pay for someone’s coffee and they said “you could chase them for it” to which I replied “it’s £2.30, not worth it.” It’s a bit rude in British culture. If it was me being a waiter I’d just scratch it from the bill.

We visited this cafe for the first time 12.7.22 while helping our daughter move into her new home. The cafe was very clean the staff friendly and welcoming. Our food and drinks were delicious. My daughter eats out alot and can be a stern critic however even she was impressed! So to recap Excellent friendly service delicious food Clean Will I visit again? yes Do I recommend? yes

We we’re told there was a 20min wait on food before we ordered. We ended up waiting 55mins. The cutlery and glass cups were dirty. The food wasn’t worth the money, we even queued 7mins to pay for it. Terrible service, I won’t be returning.

Mixed. Some stuff like the hash browns were great but the coffee wasn’t great and mistakes were made on the order. The staff were super helpful and lovely though.

Place was very busy, not too cramped but you could tell it was popular! Our server forgot about us after they forgot to inform us they ran out of Burgers. Other than that the food was quite greasy. But still good!

I have been before a couple of times..called in on my own today...Great veggie bagel brunch and coffee ...Read a couple of the reviews from the past where some people haven't responded favourably...I know people who like other establishments very nearby that I don't so I can only write as I see it..really good on every occasion I have been ...price..well you kind of get what you pay for and just what is cheap these days? Free bottled water ...paying for ketchup ? It was on the table ....friendly service for me and everyone else that I witnessed...ill be back...thanks Mike

I've been to toast a few times now and have had a great experience everytime. I'm always met with the same lovely lady who seats me and serves me with kindness and professionalism. The food is great and comes quickly, means I can eat here on my hour lunch break. A cute place! Also has a good menu, I'm vegan and I always find something I want!

Visiting the area for the day and popped in for lunch. Food was delicious and the service was great. It was very busy when we went in but plenty of seating upstairs, can’t fault anything and the welcome was very warm, would definitely go again.

My go to order for a rough morning. Their all day breakfast rolls are to die for and their coffee is very pleasant. Only issues is one occasion of receiving a wrong order from delivery (only one out of 10 or so orders) and sometimes can leave you feeling slightly too heavy. Would highly recommend and would be 5 stars without these two minor issues Edit: Have now gone in person and the experience is fantastic. Food is a little cheaper and the service is brilliant. 5 stars based on the in person experience

The chef here does the BEST burgers in Manchester in Toast….and that’s not even the main reason I go here for mostly midweek lunch or brunch. I recommend the brunch burger with its egg and bonus hash brown. The breakfast, bagels melts and coffee are all excellent. Keep up the good work Toast!

Lovely little café with a warm and friendly welcome. Good choice of brunch, toasties, paninis, burgers, etc. Good range of choices for vegetarians and vegans. Huge portions!
