Tipu Sultan MaJestic Dining in Birmingham

Visited the restaurant yesterday for the first time and I was very impressed with high standards of food and customer service. The restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful, food full of flavour and staff very attentive. Thank you all for an amazing experience and see you soon again❤️

Always good food and well presented

I was shocked that after spending over 70 pound on food and drink, they refused us tap water. They offered us to buy bottled water. I thought it was Law that restaurants have to provide tap water. Not happy customer.

Absolutely awful place the staff are rude and very unhelpful. The food was vile. Two people out of my group of 9 people couldn’t eat the butter chicken it tasted like to tomato soup. When we asked for the manager it took 40 minutes for him to finally come over. When ordering our food the very rude waitress told one of our group he wasn’t allowed to order it as it will be too spicy for him. (How would she know how spicy he likes his food was this based on his appearance??) I asked for some tap water with my food to be told they don’t give tap water and if I want water I must pay £3.50 for a bottle. And to top it off when the bill came they had added items onto it that we hadn’t even ordered!! We drew all these issues to the mangers attention when he finally came to our table who did absolutely nothing to try and rectify the issues. Appalling food and service do not waste your money !!!

Love love love their food, service and everything is just on point. Everything on their menu is just delicious. A server was just amazing on our visit unfortunately I have forgotten his name. He made our evening very special and so friendly.

Beautiful and good location food was good aswell service was alright reccomended

Overall good food, but the portions on were small for a £25 dish .

Portion of meat was good, although the taste of meat felt a bit off, compared to last time we ordered this item.

Wr wr served by Babar, and he provided excellent service, must say staff like Babar keeps the good name of Tipu Sultan.

Cannot fault the food which was excellent. Service was professional, attentive and the staff were very pleasant. The big problem was with the temperature in the big dining hall. This place was absolutely freezing and we sat in 3 different areas trying to find somewhere even slightly warm. We mentioned this to the staff. 90%l of the customers kept their hats and coats on.

Countless visits and they never fail in service or taste. My god their sultani chops and nihari are the best for me in the UK! Sam was an absolute pleasure in this visit. She even wished me happy birthday, her service and care was spot on! Cannot fault Tipu at all. Onlyyy that they NEED to open a branch in London ASAP! Thanks hahaha

The pieces of chicken were too few. Most of the box was filled up with the masala gravy. The level of spice was about right.

Terrible place. Customer service is shocking. Brought my own mayonnaise as they don't usually have them in Indian restuarants and got told this is "cross contaminarion". I am trying to enjoy my food which is why I have come to a restuarant to spend £100. The food and service i had in HMP Birmingham was more superior and free.

Order not delivered. Did not receive a single call from the restaurant. When I contacted the restaurant, the person on the phone refused to return my money and hung up the phone. I want my money back.

We have dined in and done many takeaways from this restaurant.Their lamb chops are absolutely delicious. We always order two portions and that's the only dish my husband and I won't share! The rest of their dishes are quite flavourful like the paneer, chilli lamb, papdi chaat etc Only small critique would be some of dishes are little oily.

Food was nice. Waiters were friendly but didn't seem to know what they were doing. Bringing orders to the wrong tables. Prices are reasonable.

Great food and great service, only thing I would say is, I requested just one glass of tap water and the waiter advised I will have to purchase a bottle, I stated I needed it for my medication but he replied that it is the restaurant policy. I then went on to say it is a legal requirement that you have to supply tap water whenever requested to which he said he will refer to management. After about 10 minutes of discussing with management the waiter came with a glass of water. This is very poor service for such a grand restaurant, prior to this i had such a great time with the food etc only to be disappointed with this simple request. Tipu Sultan you need to change your policy and read up on legal requirements when it comes to a simple glass of water and that, for medical purposes.

Food great. Service bit slow to start but party was large with 14, no issues once drinks and starters were served.

Very majestic! Beautiful place and lovely customer service. We ordered mixed grill and lamb karahi, very tasty and cooked properly. Full of flavours! Will deffo be coming back :).

The food was ok nothing to wow about. The fact that we spent £280 on the bill and they couldn’t even give my sister who is a diabetic patient a glass of water is absolutely terrible. We had paid the bill and just needed a glass Of water. The waiter began to explain that he was unable to do this due to restaurant policy. This is very concerning. By law tap Water needs to be provided. Will not be visiting such a ridiculous place again

The platter portion was not worth the price.

Our usual restaurant for special occasions. Went to celebrate a birthday. Food was good as usual apart the karahi that we order usually being a bit TOO spicy (and we like spicy food). We informed the waiter that the karahi had been too spicy and to simply inform the chef. A few minutes later the manager ZAFAR has arrived,and rather than accept our honest feedback has proceeded to try to convince us that the curry was not spicy!! Ofcourse we have stood our ground (as we all did find the saalan too spicy). He has then very strangely even implied that we’re lying! We’ve had to cut our celebration short and left without cutting the cake we had brought with us. Other waiters were great and food was otherwise good as usual. Mr Zafar needs further training in customer service and accepting constructive (and honest!) criticism. Thank you

Recent visit: Food was far too spicy to enjoy. Everyone found it too chilli and sweating throughout starters and mains in a catered event. The staff wouldn't even provide plain yoghurt to mitigate as 'it's not been on the allowed list'agreed by the event planner. Very poor. And this was an all South Asian event! Not good if everyone suffers from the food on the day or the morning after. Sort it out. Furthermore, the car park attendant and manager wouldn't allow people to park in an empty car park on a Sunday lunchtime (at noon) - when nobody else around upstairs or downstairs. For these reasons I've downgraded my rating. Held a charity event. Good service. Food was fine. Staff were polite and discrete. Nice ambience. Acoustics are not great in this venue

As soon as we walked in we felt as if we shouldn't be there, that's how we were made to feel. Food over spicy even though we love spicy food we asked for mild, Water was rank and smelt funny, probably because we didn't order alcohol. Staff kept standing and staring at us as if we were going to do a runner, which would not happen as we are all older people. Very expensive for the quality and service we got. Only thing going for it was the decor which I liked but the atmosphere was awful, there was a few of us and we were having a laugh but made to feel as if it wasn't allowed. One place we will not be going back too. The only person I had a smile from was the English lady cleaning the toilets and what a good job she done too.

Food came early which was great as it was a Saturday evening and I live almost 3 miles away from the restaurant...........the food was fresh and tasty with an traditional feel .......... I would definitely recommend ordering from here

Authentic food, absolutely delicious

Ordered around 7.10pm food arrived 8.31pm roti was cold and curry dish was luke warm..

It seems to be hit and miss with this restaurant. On some days the food is great and on others it's average.

Overall, the experience was good, but the haleem was just average. Authentic haleem has a viscous texture, achieved through traditional kneading with wooden ghota, but theirs was clearly blended with an electric mixer. It also lacked the usual garnishes of fried onions and ginger.

Food was really cold, management were not accurate in the estimated time lf arrival. will not be ordering from there again!!

Very nice food, a little expensive but you get what you pay for.worth the visit

Overrated for absolute no reason. First time here due to the hype and I can comfortably say I will NEVER be back. Although service was fine however the food was just awful. Chicken biryani was probably the worst I've ever had, was just plain rice with chicken thrown in, no flavour. Chicken tikka was red and tasteless, Hyderabadi chicken curry was ok (despite being their "special dish") and lamb chops were pretty good. Overall, MUCH BETTER places to go and eat. I asked the waiter if their Haleem was any good, thankfully he was honest and advised me to eat something else. Lol

Average food nothing special. Over hyped and extreme spice! Im usually ok with spice tolerance but it was more spicy than required.

Very kind staff. Spacious and quiet place, with comfortable seatings. Delicious Murgh Haryali Tikka. Gluten-free options are not clearly labelled on the menu.

Very delicious food and amazing service

Food is nice, slightly over rated. Over time prices have gone up and portions have gotten alot smaller. Never the less, food is still nice for a once in a blue moon visit.

Recommended by Huma from Haya Guest House. Great place and delicious food. Decor and ambiance is nice. Getting a space in their car park is not easy however off street parking is available. Biryani was tasty and fresh. Thoroughly enjoyed their poppadoms and chutney selections.

Delicious food with ample parking and seating. It can be very loud and, on occasions, difficult to hold conversations with your party. Recommend to make reservations in advance as waiting time can be up to an hour on the weekend. Prices are reasonable as well.

I recently attended a family wedding at Tipu Sultan and had a truly fantastic experience. The service was exceptional, with the food exceeding all expectations in both quality and presentation. A special thank you to Bilal, our waiter, who provided outstanding service and took excellent care of our table throughout the event. I would highly recommend this venue for anyone seeking a memorable occasion.

Very nice atmosphere, good service and excellent food. We went there for our wedding anniversary. For the quality they provide the prices are very reasonable, actually If I compare them with other restaurant with similar atmosphere, food quality, taste and service, their prices are at the lower side.

Very rude gentleman on the desk. He put the wrong order on my recipe. I told him I didn't order that but he kept pushing me to get it. His facial expressions was like his fuming angry. He ruined the whole experience for me I will not be going back

On arrival we were given quite a spacious booth and the waiters were attentive. However starters were a bit bland and quite small portions , I was expecting more for the price of the chef's special. The lamb main was tasty and the chicken but the dal makhni had no flavor and looked weird. Overal I think the portion sizes need to be bigger. The atmosphere and decor were great and the mocktails were delicious. Parking needs to be expanded especially for the busy weekends.

Big restaurant, came down from Scotland and it was the best food we ever had down south and staff were patient and kind .food was awesome and money well spent.

Consistently good food, service is good when it is not too busy if you’re lucky! Sometimes a little too loud and crowded which counters the good ambience of the restaurant. Definitely recommend advanced reservation.

Food has deteriorated enormously. Very disappointing. Sheesh Kebabs had too much flour in. Curry was tasteless. Lamp chops came to the table half cold. Will not be going there again.

Shardeel Babar gave an excellent service, you guys have raised the quality of service bar exceedingly high, continue to excel.

Food was awful. Laccha Paratha was drenched in oil and the masala in the Biryani was not cooked. Terrible!

A lovely day out for the whole family. Clean, spacious and great food. If you would like a family setting it is ideal. Large tables, toilet facilities and ample car parking facilities. If you need to offer your islamic prayers there are dedicated facilities for both men and women.

Nice restaurant, lovely layout. We asked the waiter for his recommendation and he recommended what I believe was the hottest curry on the menu which ruined the experience as we couldnt taste anything just had burning mouths

I ordered a take away for me and my partner her through just eat, I’m a chef by trade with Michelin back ground so I know how to cook! And cook well! This place sent me slimy mushy chicken a keema Naanbread that looked like it had dried canned dog food on the inside of it! I’ve spent most of my evening being sick! This place needs to be shut down I’ve already reported to the Environment health service! (EHO)! The manager was also arguing with my partner over phone and laughing at me while I was being sick after eating his food! It was also cold and about 30mins late!!!! Please avoid at all cost!
