The food was delicious....and the service was great such friendly staff highly recommend

We have visited 3 times in as many months, and thoroughly enjoyed each visit. A good mixed menu, would recommend the mixed tandoori grill and the special house dishes. All the dishes are plentiful, fresh, melt in your mouth meats and extremely tasty, the chef is top notch. The waitresses Komal & Gemma, have always been friendly, and even recognise us now 😀 the service is very good and we have never waited too long for food. Plenty of tables, background music playing and a well stocked bar. We will definitely be making the Summer House our go to curry venue and recommend you try it.

8 of us just walked in, didn’t book…Gemma and Rachel was very accommodating (even search for a charger for the kids phones) Food was lovely, came out very quickly. Service was amazing and a lovely atmosphere. We will be back soon Thank you

Absolutely beautiful place to eat went with my family of 4 for a meal food was beautiful came out very quick piping hot service was excellent restaurant was packed nice atmosphere and very warm considering the weather outside our bill came to slightly over £100 and that included 1 starter and a nice bottle of red wine moved out to the bar and stayed a few hours having a few beers and playing pool had a brilliant night with a few local lads as well will be back on the 23rd of this month so really looking forward to that

I had an extremely disappointing experience at this restaurant. The management is clearly unorganised and inattentive, leading to long wait times, incorrect orders, and staff that seemed overwhelmed and untrained. Customer concerns were brushed off, and it felt like nobody cared about providing a good experience. The overall atmosphere was chaotic, and it’s clear that management has no idea how to run a business effectively. I will not be returning and wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

I would not recommend this establishment all. After my family tried to organize an event here, we were told to pay the total cost for hiring the event space upfront. There was no option to provide a deposit which was very unusual and unprofessional. After providing the payment, the event had to be cancelled due to unforeseen events and the staff were unwilling to provide a refund or even a partial refund despite us communicating our intention to cancel well in advance. Contacting the manager, Jas, with whom the entire debacle was organized, became extremely difficult as she was unwilling to liaise. At last we were offered a credit note for the amount of the payment, to which conditions would be added (by Jas) at random, such as making the “optional service charge” compulsory, after a visit mentioning the note must be used in one transaction, and then imposing a deadline (which was after the fact conveniently changed to become closer). After being informed the credit must be used in a single transaction, we went to use this and to our surprise £33 had been deducted for no apparent reason. Retrieving an explanation for this was next to impossible when Jas then saw us trying to bring this to the staffs attention and decided to camp out in the kitchen and allow one of her employees try to send us away. Again this was very unprofessional and unfair to the employee. Overall, the management is appalling and the average food is not worth the price! Save time and money and go somewhere else!

A Disappointing Experience: Not Recommended for Dining or Events Regrettably, my family and I had an overwhelmingly negative experience at this establishment. Regarding the food, it is mediocre at best, with mixed grills and curries that lack both quality and value. Given the abundance of superior and reasonably priced options available elsewhere in Birmingham, the pricing here does not justify the standard of the offerings. Our more significant issue arose when attempting to host a 30th birthday celebration at the venue. We were quoted £350 to hire the space for five hours, with the stipulation that the entire amount be paid upfront, as deposits were not accepted. In hindsight, this should have been a red flag, but we chose the venue primarily for its convenient location, as some family members have mobility challenges. To secure the date, I paid the full amount. Unfortunately, a bereavement in the family meant we could not host the party due to cultural customs prohibiting celebrations for a year. I informed the manager, Jas, about this unforeseen situation, hoping for some understanding. However, her response was far from empathetic. Communication became increasingly one-sided, requiring numerous follow-ups before she responded. She insisted the £350 was non-refundable, which, given the circumstances, felt unfair. After persistent effort, she reluctantly offered a credit note, valid for three months, to be used onsite and “non-transferable.” This credit note presented further challenges. On one visit with my sisters and cousin, we used £67, including a 10% service charge, leaving £283 remaining. However, upon planning another visit, we were informed by the assistant manager that the credit note had to be used in a single visit. This condition had not been previously clarified. I communicated this misunderstanding & Jas agreed to reauthorise the credit note with the condition that it gets used by the end of December (1 month earlier than the original condition). I then asked to confirm the remaining balance and she failed to respond. When my family and I visited again, we were informed the balance was £250, meaning £33 had inexplicably disappeared. While £33 may seem trivial, the principle of this unexplained loss was deeply upsetting. The experience at the restaurant was no better. The food remained unimpressive, and the bill included another mandatory 10% service charge, despite the receipt stating it was optional. Additionally, we waited 45 minutes for clarification on billing issues, despite it being late at night and having young children with us. Jas refused to address us directly, leaving her assistant manager to mediate. Ultimately, this experience left us frustrated, angry, and deeply disappointed. I strongly advise against hosting any events here —the management is unprofessional, insensitive, and untrustworthy. I would neither recommend nor return to this establishment.

Christmas dinner The aroma of a delicious Christmas dinner fills the air, promising a delightful feast. Warm lights twinkle, casting a cozy glow on the gathered family and friends. Laughter and cheerful conversation create a joyful atmosphere. Generous portions of savory dishes and sweet treats are shared, satisfying every appetite. A sense of warmth and togetherness permeates the celebration, making it a truly memorable Christmas. With one of the best soups I have ever had, and great staff who couldn't do enough for us.

I been visiting Summerhoue for some time now and keep coming back for the food and service. Meera, Karmel, Gemma and Ria continue to provide excellent service and always go above and beyond. Keep up the good work team.

Been coming here for the past 5-6 years and everytime it has been a wonderful experience. The food and atmosphere has always pleased and there’s one person in particular called Rhiya who has always gone above and beyond for us. Be it bdays, my stag or in general has always been a pleasure to be served by her. Compliments to her customer service and overall care. Definitely recommended.

I cannot put into words how good their mixed grill is. It was all cooked to perfection and had a great variety in massive quantities. I literally cannot pick a fault in any of it. Will definitely be ordering again!

Really enjoyed my first visit to Summer House. Good sized portions considering most places give you less for the same money. I'd definitely recommend and will be going back soon.

Didn't have food so cannot rate it. Came with some friends and it had a nice atmosphere. TV for football and a game of pool what more could my mates want.. Would defo come back again

tasty food but as it was only luke warm I had to reheat it in the microwave.

Being a Jain by religion, I had a festival going on which required m to eat food without onion, garlic and patato. The restaurant staff was extremely helpful and coordinating about it. They prepared a paneer vegetable exactly the way I wanted. Special thanks to Jass and Meera who were incredibly helpful.

food was not what was expecting looking at the reviews this place seemed good so I got a butter chicken curry, a rice , onion barges and naan only thing that was half okay was the naan I mean how can yah mess up even starters did not enjoy this food at all

Poor poor poor service, it took the lady (who seemed to be doing the bar and food service) over 20 mins to take our order and 30 mins to bring our drinks. However she was trying her best.... my main issue was the waitress after who took over. I asked if she could get my sons ice cream we ordered to which she decided to tell me they have ice lollies. I told her i know and we have ordered ice cream, she was adamant to continue to go on about these lollies. When she finally listened and got the iceream.... she came over and plonked it in the middle of my sons left over dinner plate. So so rude. I asked her to remove his dinner plate. Why on earth would you put someone's desert in there left over food. Either stupid or disrespectful. Last but not least she cleared our plates and flicked a fork that had curry on all up my clothes (mistakes can happen but that wasn't my issue) she didn't even apologise just looked back.. seen what she did and walked off!!!!!! Despite all this, the chefs did an amazing job, food was beautiful but unfortunately I won't be returning.

Went today for mixed grill it was tasteless boring no spices whatsoever and the saag was watery mush never again.

I went to the bar asked her if I may use the toilet.. She refused.. what a messed up place. We were going there for a works dinner we are not now..

Always lovely food but they have taken out the wall between the bar and lounge which has really spoiled it and changed the atmosphere it was really noisy which is a shame

These people are amateurs. Service is non existent. The saag lamb is just a brown paste with no lamb. Just gravy. They insist on us paying a service charge while the food and service was 0/10

Don't waste your time. We went for saag night after having a great experience 3 week ago and were highly disappointed. I was unable to get my pram in as the entrance with the ramp was locked and the staff refused to unlock it, telling me to go via the front entrance where only 1 door was unlocked, so couldn't get in through the front. Eventually staff opened the doors to the side entrance with the ramp. There was a large group of regulars by the pool table who would swearing and shouting making an unpleasant atmosphere. We asked to add paneer to our saag and change the makki roti to a normal one having done this previously and paid Extra, but we're told no, the chef can't do this and , and things have changed ,it's a set menu now. Problem is makki do roti didn't suit a few people in our group so they had to order naan and we wasted the roti. The younge female waitresses was very rude and abrupt. The food took ages to come out considering it was saag night and only a small handful of people. An optional service change was added to the Bill which we asked for be removed due to the substandard service, and was told by the female waitress this couldn't be removed as there was 8 or more of us, however we stated the receipt clearly showed OPTIONAL. Management came over and asked why we didn't want to pay the service charge so we told her about our experience and she said we should have ordered separate saag and roti, which was awkward as we were stood over and it felt like uneasy. This should have been said to us when we ordered initially. It was a horrible experience from start to finish, and we shouldn't have to justify why we don't want to pay the service charge which is optional. I have no issues with giving tips but the service and experience should warrant it.

Sadly, they only sell one choice in Bitter, but its an acceptable pint of Worthington. Food also very good. The service is tops. Very friendly and hard working staff.

So pathetic food! I even said it’s not food, it’s like poison.I went to the restaurant today, ordered food, but it came too late. The restaurant was so unhygienic, with dirty tables and floors. After eating their food, I got really sick. Couldn't stop vomiting! I don't recommend anyone to go there. Their food is like poison. Don't waste your money and health. The staff is so rude, they don't listen and have terrible behavior.

Rice cold and flavourless, mushrooms horrible and shrivelled up. Bones in the keema naan bread and not enough bread on it, the middle was just meat. Chicken tikka massala didn't taste like one, all round dissapointed after a lovely one last time

From being moved twice to accommodate other people and the table being filthy we ordered our food and waited for over an hour other groups of people who came in after we did were being served food I went and complained our food came out 20 minutes later most dishes cold .my family has been at this pub restaurant many times and has always been very good but we won't be going back.

Absolute sh*t show! Ordered a kids fish fingers and chips ... Fish fingers were black and split . Soaked in oil. The Chips / fries were soaked in oil . And peas were dehydrated. Sent this back as clearly unacceptable. They sent it back out and was basically the same. So we then asked to send back and remove the order...to which the manager also agreed after looking at the dish . Then ordered Keema muttar , saag gosht , beef madras and fish pakoras . With 2 GARLIC naan and 1 garlic and coriander naan. 45 minutes later hot plates were brought out...20 mins after the food came out .. . They sent 3 garlic and coriander naans so let them know and they said we will send your garlic naan out - took about 20 minutes so then my mains were cold . On top of this , the lamb keema muttar had chicken in it. Again we showed the manager who agreed and said he will send out again . Another 25 minutes had passed and still hasn't came out so we decided to request it as a take away . As all the other people on the table had ate their cold food with hot naans . Genuinely cannot believe the service and quality of the food, Which in the past has been ok. After this experience I wouldn't go back again . We also noticed about 4-5 other tables had also been complaining about issues with their food . Clearly a running theme. Not good at all ! To top it all there was 2 tables of drunken elder gentleman swearing and shouting none stop. Another table asked the manager to ask them to lower the noise . He tried but nothing was done . The whole experience tonight ( Saturday night ) has been horrendous. Genuinely recommend trying another restaurant . Literally had issues in every single department today ! Service , time and quality of food . One of the staff even said oh it's due to a function we've had on ..even though they had cleared up and left just as we had got in. Was Just a terrible terrible experience. Worse thing about it all is that we are not that fussy but just expect the service we are paying for . Definitely did not deliver!

On arrival we were really happy. We have had many large bookings here in he past. The manager informed us it was free for children with an adults meal. We had 5 adult mains and 5 children’s meals. We used the adults menu for the remaining child. We were then told the more expensive adults meals were not included i the offer, once we were all eating. We were charged £4.50 for a water. They were trying to add on all kinds of hidden charges. We were quite happy to pay for the children’s meals in the first place so I don’t know why they were adding extras on left right and centre. The food wasn’t good at all. Sorry to say we won’t be going again. This was previously one of our favourite places as it has a play area for the children. The waitress was trying to help but I believe the management were trying to make up the money for the free children’s meals. We usually leave a big tip but could not on this occasion.

Popped in on a weekday lunchtime and it wasn't too busy, just a few people in having afternoon beers. Service was great, there seemed to be just one lady working the bar and then also doing table service, and she was doing it well. The beer selection was quite basic, & the food was quite average. I ordered a curry for my wife and daughter, they both said it was a smaller portion than you normally get in other places. I could see the bowl had this bizarre angled design which probably contributed to this issue. Style over substance! There's no fish pakora on the grill, and they were out of prawns so they gave me a choice of what extra meat to have on there. The flavours of the meats were just blander than I'm used to, and the same was said about the curry. The place looks flash and done up well on the outside, but a very standard pub interior where we were seated, and that kind of atmosphere.

The food was amazing very friendly staff and the manager came just to check if everything was OK, we had mix grill the only bad thing was there was too much chicken.

An awful experience! A pub full of misogynistic Men where the P word (by mixed groups) was used repeatedly and views of women were derogatory and sexualised, feel sorry for any woman that comes into contact with them. Fuelled by waitresses and staff, one of which appeared to be a manager Avoid! Food ok!

We placed the order at 17.30 and it didn’t arrive until nearly 19.00. When I checked the status, the time kept changing and it was always on preparing food. When I called, the restaurant said it wasnt their fault as the just eat drivers hadnt arrived. When the status changed, it said the courier was there/l. I rang back and they were adamant that the order was ready ages ago. When I asked the delivery man, he couldn’t give me an answer.

Mixed grill was good. Remember to mention that lamb chops should not be burnt

Gutted about the noodles when I had them sometime back they had a nice flavour and spice, however this times round they're leaving a greasy taste and no spice what so ever, chilli chicken very good though.

We love the Summer House and order every week. We received the wrong item today but it didn’t matter as the food was still delicious and the restaurant were very very helpful . Place an order , you won’t be disappointed

Service was awful under under staffed. Ordered large mixed grill didn't get prawns and only one sheesh kebab. Ordered chicken and lamb curry; lamb curry had hair in it. Wasn't given a discount instead gave me another chicken curry on the house as I said I don't want the lamb dish. Had you tell them I was only paying for a small mix grill as I felt that what I got. Won't be going back again for food as I have drank their with friends who ate local.

Absolutely amazing food! Everyone said their meal was lovely. I don't get why it wasn't packed. I think it maybe to do with the bar is openly connected to the dinning area. I'd suggest you separate that area so dinners have the total food experience away from drinkers playing pool. Food is quality!

Chicken tikka and SH special chicken were the best dishes

We went in large group. Been there before. Omg place needs bit of touch up on decor. Food ok. But surely vegetarian please bring nice vegetables such as bhangian,okra. Apart from soya,tofu. Even carrots but fresh cooked with methi,spinach. Very disappointed. Onions in salad were not seasoned. Sizzler should have been hot sizzling it was warm. Room was very crammed. Please look into this. And improve

Really dissatisfied with food asked for chicken tikka got thigh meat we had already phoned to make sure this was ok when the food arrived we immediately phoned them back to complain but was told the manager was not there but would get back to me the next day heard nothing I phoned back and got no response we also sent pictures of the meat to prove it was thigh

Mix grill is something that generally doesn't travel well, but you can tell this was well packed and freshly prepared just before it was collected. This is probably the best mix grill I've ever had delivered. Food was tasty, and cooked to a very high standard as always at Summer House. Very pleased and would definitely order again.
